I'm not even a fan of the P4 but it was a stretch indeed. He conflated using motion sense for predominantly "negative" (subjective) things makes it an actual negative feature. Wacktastic.
I've had the Pixel 4 since launch, upgrading from the Pixel 2. To "solve" the battery issue turn off the Radar gimmick and you'll easily get north of 24hrs
One plus and Google should be making a new brand. One plus makes the hardware and Google makes the software. Maybe just the revival of Google+ naming. 😆😆
@@djdelarosa25 you can see the mess oneplus oxygen team had done on the recent Android 10 updates. Maybe it's fine on its latest 7T. But it is a real mess on its 7 and 6/6t. Not sure why it is more chaotic from 9 to 10 when compared to from 8 to 9. Although technically Google should have make updating easier? I'm not sure. Just guessing.
With all the telemarketing and scam calls that people receive, most people don't pick up the phone to numbers they don't recognize, so they can use motionsense for that. And as for the music you might like the song but just not want to hear it at that time. And motionsense is optional, so I don't think it's negative.
I finally got my pixel 4 XL after buying it on black friday (which replaces my s8)....its been two days and I have absolutely no complaints as a power user! The screen is gorgeous, digging the cloth case, fantastic camera, blazingly fast, and all the google AI and assistant to tie into your smart home devices and your entire life together.
@@howong8561 After more days with it, the battery is good but not great. It should lasts a full day if you're a power user who multitasks between some UA-cam, streaming music and everyday activities. Add in some mobile gaming and don't expect it to last a whole day. As for charging, I think my old Samsung S8 charges faster than the pixel 4XL so I'm not 100% sure if the pixel has the latest quick charging capabilities? Or the bigger battery naturally makes it charge longer. That's the only thing that annoys me with the phone at the moment.

I get your point. The pixel phones age better than most other flagships. The software experience is everything about this phone but they could really have done better with the pricing.
@@johnboscookpala7928 I owned a 2XL and currently a 3. I didn't need to upgrade from 2XL because 2XL was an absolute software beast but I just had to have the not pink 3. What I love Motion Sense for is detecting whether or not I'm close-by. Having it light up when I get near the phone makes it the one feature that actually works flawlessly.
Basically the best thing about pixel is it doesn't slow down like other Android phones. I bought my wife the note ten and itks already slowed down significantly compared to where it was brand new. Pixel 4 offers the best Android experience hands down
@@2000sidhupunjab i used the pixel 2xl for 3 years and it was still faster than my brothers brand new s10+. the only experience that is similar and better (talking about phone slowdowns) is ios. Did you actually own any pixel phones or are you just saying that because a reviewer said so?
OnePlus doesn't slow down either that much. And tbh every phone slows down, it doesn't matter what they do with their software they'll slow down eventually. Some slows down a little, some a lot.
I've liked motion sense so far. When I got the phone I thought I'd never use it but when I'm driving or my phone is on a wireless charger it has been pretty useful
I use motion sense all the time in the car when I can't grab the phone and want to skip songs but that's about it. Excited about future possibilities of the technology though
I've been using the pixel xl4 for 3 weeks now and I love it. For the motion sense I didn't really have any issues for now it's working pretty well ... For now
I have the Pixel 4, the face unlock and the hand swipe to skip songs that's a god send when I'm a trucker, I don't have to grab the phone to skip songs and can focus on everything around me.
For a student who spends a LOT of time at a desk whilst listening to music I LOVE motion sense. It's so easy to accidentally get distracted by my phone when I pick it up, unlock it and skip a song but with motion sense all I have to do is wave at it. I also find the alarm silencing super convenient and it decreases time that my alarm is ringing and potentially waking other people in my house. Don't get me wrong, more motion sense features need to be rolled out asap but at the same time we need to remember that this is first Gen tech. And in the sense (excuse the pun) of tech companies bringing out new features and having the guts to try something new can only be a good thing in the long run.
I have used motion sense a lot and I hope they don't ignore it. I really hope they go further with it in the future. I also found that it probably would have worked better if they taught people how to use it better. I found that the motion that I see reviewers make with their hands doesn't work often. And it's dumb, because that's what the animation shows. However I found doing a bit more of a flick motion works 99 percent of the time. Sure I've had a few accidental track skips, but that's more of "just push the phone slightly further away from what I'm doing with my hands". Love my pixel 4 xl so far :)
I agree 100% with your follow up review. Since the last update, I've experienced a slight improvement in battery life. The software is experience has been so good, that I'm still hesitant to get the Note 10+. I know that Samsung will not provide the software experience you get with the Pixel.
I could see myself using the heck out of motion sense. Just like on my iPhone 8 I use my 3D touch so much, though many tech reviewers explain that it isn't that crucial of a feature. I know now on the later iPhones, the 3D touch is gone. I like to take advantage of the shorthand features that make these smartphones feel so- well- smart! Great review!
As a pixel 4xl user. my battery life easily lasts a day (20-30% left at end of day), the phone is fast, snappy and the camera(s) are brilliant. i personally like the optical zoom as im now able to get very detailed zoom with their smart tech for clearing the image. The refresh rate I've had no issues, realistically eyes open / closed shouldn't be an issue at all, (new update has fixed this also, on my phone at least) while it is expensive initially, i got a good deal from EE even with pre-order. The phone for me is honestly faultless. face unlock has honestly never missed a beat, neither has the motion sense. Honestly does not deserve the slander it gets. faster than my mums new galaxy note and on just normal comparisons my camera arguably outperforms it also. happy with my decision as every pixel device ive owned has never slowed down or felt lacking, unlike other samsungs, sony's and iphones I've had previously
I bought this phone at launch despite all the hate, skepticism and controversy. It does suck that the price dropped so quickly, but that's the way it is. It's actually a really good phone, I wouldn't have known that by looking at the spec sheet or holding it in my hand for a few days. It became apparent after a couple of weeks of using it as a daily driver. I recently took it to a mountain summit in Spain where it surprised me with resilient battery life, despite using it to take a lot of photos and videos. When I put the phone on a wireless car mount the aggressive and reliable face unlock with the motion sense become very valuable. I don't need to touch the phone just look at it quick to unlock it, and I don't have a car with phone integration so when I want to change a song I just swipe my hand quick without feeling distracted. IMO solid phone that maybe should have just been sold cheaper.
I have the regular pixel 4 and changed a lot of settings and I get about 5 hours of on screen time with extremely heavy usage . Also great review and I'm subscribing
No complaints with my Pixel 4XL. Easily lasts a day and in fact unusually charge wirelessly to about 80 % once a day. Software is smooth and easy to navigate. Camera is the best I've used.
Hey Eber! Loved the vid but that wallpaper in the thumbnail caught my eye. It would be really helpful if u provide me the download link for that wallpaper :)
Just got my pixel 4xl and love this phone long time Samsung user. Camera is really great. Videos are just fine. Knowing the fact it's supported 3 years major software update 4 years security update it's great. Gonna keep this phone for as long as it gets security update.
Great vid. Still digging my Pixel 4 (non xl).. battery life is fine.. lasts me the day barely with regular use and 90hz set to always on. It sits on my desk most of the day so being away from a charger isn't typical. If I was going to a park or somewhere I wouldn't be around a charger for more than 8 hours I'd definitely bring my 5000mah battery bank which is smaller than the phone. What sold me was form factor and the 90hz screen.. absolutely no other options at this time with that combo. I had a 6t before this and it feels like a beast now when I pick it up, pixel4 is much more comfortable carrying/pocketing day to day IMO.
By "smaller", do you simply mean "less wide"? I remember that Sony came out with some ultra narrow phone a couple of months ago... Bu yeah, I concur with you on that point. Some of those smartphones are difficult to hold in your hand and prone to be dropped if you have smaller hands.
I meant still 16:9 aspect ratio but like 12 cm (around 5 inches) in height max. Don't have to be fast and can be bulky but smaller in footprint which can show me gps messenger, e-mails and google calendar and that's all. :D
I couldn't find the exact same one, but you might want to give the android app "backdrops" a look. They have loads of wallpapers of that style available. 🤙
The majority of the tech UA-camrs have become tech snobs, obsessed with specs. Although overpriced the Pixel 4 XL is a phone for ordinary users. Ordinary users couldn’t care less about: The latest and greatest specs Screen-to-body ratio 4K video Selfie video Reverse wireless charging Refresh rate Ultra wide angle lens I just bought a Pixel 4 XL to see whether all the slagging off was justified. To my surprise I love using it so much that it has replaced my iPhone 11 Pro Max. For an ordinary user the battery life is fine - I’ve never ended a day with less than 60%. My advice to non tech-heads for any phone is take note of reviews but try it for yourself before making any judgement.
howieb2001 I feel like that though these tech UA-camrs are very helpful, they don't necessarily represent what the average consumer wants. The pixel 4 looks extremely user friendly to me this very "average consumer" friendly.

I have the 4XL and a Note 10 plus. I use the 4XL more and everytime I use the Note 10 plus and have to take photo I end up wishing I had taken it with the pixel. Like you said the software and cameras keep me holding onto it.
I would have liked an ultra wide camera ..but when lg introduced it couple years back and reviewers acknowledged how great it was ..why was there no backlash thats Samsung and apple didn't have it? All of a sudden the pixel lacks it and now it's a deal breaker. I don't understand the inconsistency
It's not "all of a sudden", Google had years to implement a wide angle lens into their phones, and, until this day, Google is the only big player who is lacking it.
@@toohhy you are making my point .. lg had it for years before Samsung implemented it, now it's a requirement. Were you upset 2 years ago when neither Samsung or apple had it ?
Fair review! No phone is for everyone but I think the Pixel 4 XL got unfairly judged early. I'm really enjoying mine and I own/owned the iPhone 11 Pro Max, Samsung S10+ and Note 10+. It's hard to explain how good the software experience is for me. It's so fluid I can't even load a 3rd party launcher because it ruins the feel for me.
4:19 Yeah, but the iPhone also has a 3 year old fast charging technology, beginning with iPhone 8, 8 Plus & X .....and they made you pay for it (except in 2019 iPhone Pro models).
Nah, we needed a sponsorship to pimp the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 for that. 😜 But TBH, part of the old title made it into the new one. Its been corrected. ;)
NAXE I only drank it for a week since I live in Dubai and they aren’t available there I was in love with it, great flavors and I definitely recommend mixing them up, hope to get a fresh patch soon
People bitch and moan about some of the stuff on the Pixel 4 and I would be too if I had paid full price. However, just about everywhere you look the thing is being offered with some kind of rebate or promotion. If you're not paying the full price for this phone it's a pretty sweet deal. I agree the launch price was stupid high, but having this kind of android experience at a lower dollar amount is hard to argue with.
Thank you! My pixel 3xl just started randomly shutting down. I get to the very last troubleshooting step and can't actually use the phone in safe mode for a week. This video made the inevitable decision a little less painless.
Pixel is a great software experience with the feeling of being different in the huge array of Samsungs iPhones and Xiaomis. - from a happy owner of a non-XL Pixel 2.
Motion sense is an amazing feature that's only gonna get better. If you drive a lot it's perfect because you just dock your phone and can change your songs without touching your phone which is super dangerous & illegal.
MotionSense is still young. Google said they want people to get the basics first that's why it doesn't do much yet. It will mature as time goes by and we might even see it on other Google products soon.
Have always been an Android user since Android 1.1. My last one was the Pixel 2 XL, and due mostly to battery performance switched to an iPhone 11. Had some issues at the beginning, but friends and Google search made the transition not that bad. Only hope Apple grow some backbone and allows apps to bypass hotspot limitation imposed by carriers. That’s the only thing I keep my Pixel around and that may come back if Google get their devices build correctly.
Yassir Ghanim I was looking for the 4 to be a one-handed Hercules. At least the Pixel 4XL made it through. Hopefully Google will fix this in their 5 series next year.
@@MatthewMoscotto I had high hopes for the 4 as well because I was hoping to go small for easy 1 hand use but I had to return n get the XL and I love it minus the size
I love what you said about motion sense features being negative. My main concern is the fact that I'm living in China right now which renders google useless... and the battery life, so I'm hoping if I get this phone and have some of the "highest-tech" features disabled (such as motion sense, if it's not working, for example) it will improve the life!

Super happy with my 4XL. Fast and smooth, no extra bloat trash, great pictures. I got it 200 off so no problem with price. I almost didn't get it, listening to the early reviews. And it lasts me a day and a half on a charge if I'm not playing games hours at a time. I don't know.. I don't see why anyone would still be bashing it at current prices. I currently own a Huawei p30 pro. Before I bought it I checked out all the videos etc. Literally everyone would complain about the low quality of the video capabilities.. yet I haven't ever found it to be an issue. Infact I'd rate it higher than a lot of the other flagships of the same age.. so...... I will happily take my chances again here lol.
As someone who has a Pixel 2 and hasn't seen the Pixel 3, I'm disappointed to find out that they no longer have two frontfacing speakers. That was initially something that drew me into the Pixel phones.
Fast charging doesn't matter. What matters is the battery care on the long term, as majority of people charge their smartphones overnight. So far only Sony Xperia phones have a feature to schedule (or the software learns that automatically) when the battery will get fully charged. Before, it charges till 90%, and then it waits till a bit before you plug it out, and charges the phone to 100%. Genius!
Its ok about Google Pixel 4/4 XL. Even though the price is legit, no ultra view camera, motion sense or others, the company always keep up, never give up, keep moving forward.
Sorry guys, didn't catch that part of the old title made it into the final output. Our fault, its been corrected. :) :)

Good idea you should do marketing hah
Gawesomesauce how about the battery?
@@howong8561 After more days with it, the battery is good but not great. It should lasts a full day if you're a power user who multitasks between some UA-cam, streaming music and everyday activities. Add in some mobile gaming and don't expect it to last a whole day.
As for charging, I think my old Samsung S8 charges faster than the pixel 4XL so I'm not 100% sure if the pixel has the latest quick charging capabilities? Or the bigger battery naturally makes it charge longer. That's the only thing that annoys me with the phone at the moment.

Bruh most of the time it's just because of old batteries. My LG v20 with custom Rom and New batteries every year was still packing a punch
One plus also never slows down
And in recent years iphones have shown an exception by getting faster
OnePlus doesn't slow down either that much. And tbh every phone slows down, it doesn't matter what they do with their software they'll slow down eventually. Some slows down a little, some a lot.
Watching this with my lovely Pixel 3 🥰
I use voice and/or Bluetooth headset instead, much easier.
Mines too don't know what the fuss is about love my 4xl
What is that amazing mountain wallpaper?
Anyone else notice the MKBHD type facial expressions he has? Great video man!
I have the regular pixel 4 and changed a lot of settings and I get about 5 hours of on screen time with extremely heavy usage . Also great review and I'm subscribing

Not great?! I only charge my phone every 27 hours. I consistently get 6-8 hours SoT.

A call with marques whoaaaaa!!!😍😍😍
Wish they made a really small version of any smart mobile. Even the "small" ones usually too big for my taste.
Sony compact series is usually small enough. About 4+ inches wide
Finally I can move away from watching MKBHD. Great content! Subbed.

The latest and greatest specs

Reverse wireless charging
Refresh rate

RainbowisticFarts Actually it doesn’t it also switches it’s not always on 90hz it just stays on 90hz a lot more than the pixel 4
Precedent, I guess.
It's not "all of a sudden", Google had years to implement a wide angle lens into their phones, and, until this day, Google is the only big player who is lacking it.

Off topic, but I like the way you speak. It's captivating. Not meant to be a creepy comment. I usually get super bored watching phone reviews..
Fast charging doesn't matter. What matters is the battery care on the long term, as majority of people charge their smartphones overnight. So far only Sony Xperia phones have a feature to schedule (or the software learns that automatically) when the battery will get fully charged.
