@@vector3578 hi bro, i want to buy a pixel 4 or samsung s10e please let me know what is the best device of these 2 options. is the battery 2800 mAh good for full day? Samsung S series is also not super good battery life. which one should I buy please help I have been in hospital for 2 months my old A5 is almost worn out and too slow. thank you if you want to respond to me for the best gsm pixel or S10e
As a happy Pixel 4 owner, I agree with your excellent analysis. I'm a happy owner because I paid nowhere near RRP for my phone, so I can deal with the battery life; especially as I'm coming from a regular Pixel 2. I have also had people ask me if they should buy it and I couldn't recommended it either.
I picked up an iPhone 11 a month ago with the intention of it replacing my Pixel 3 XL. But there were a lot of little things that pushed me back over to the Pixel 4, things that aren't typically mentioned in a lot of reviews. For example sending/receiving texts from my PC at work, having Google maps as the base map for apps like Strava where I need to see trails, device folders in the photos app (with the ability to choose which ones to back up), call screening, the always-on display, and the ease of moving around the OS with things like volume control for multiple sources and being able to flag a UA-cam video for watch later from the lock screen. But one of the things that really pushed me back over to the Pixel was how much better Android Auto is than CarPlay. For Spotify and Google play music, which is mainly what I use, I have to literally open the phone and open the app while I'm driving for it to work. Even then it doesn't work very well. All in all I could use either one, but I can just get around the Pixel phone a lot easier. Appreciate the honest review. Keep up the good work.
This is one of the best comments I've seen bc it highlights a lot of differences that I would never learn about as a mainly iPhone user. One question and one comment: What app do you use for sending/receiving text messages from your PC? I've used CarPlay for a little while now, and I've noticed that there's a HUGE difference between using Maps vs. Google Maps wrt multi-tasking. When Maps is used, the HUD gets split into three sections (Maps, Messages, Spotify), but when I use Waze, Google Maps, or any other third party mapping app, the map monopolizes the display. I end up needing to switch apps, and I may as well not have CarPlay at all.
@@zolopane117 The messaging is built into Android. You just go to messages.google.com and scan the QR code from Android Messages (the native texting app) by tapping on the dots on the top right and then "Messages for Web". It's built into the OS. Agree with earlier comments about the level of detail on this review, which is to say, it was excellent. More than almost all the others in fact. And this is one of the primary reasons why I watch his videos. They are so detailed and he takes the manufacturers to task on some of the dumber things that have done, not done, included, left out, etc. And it's not just his opinion, but based on facts, because facts matter... Look if there's anything that I've learned over the last 2 years is that tech reviewers are feeling increasingly isolated and neglected by Google's design choices....and it pisses them off. They feel this way because (sometimes arrogantly so, and sometimes ignorantly so) they want to think theiir opinion mirrors the purchasing public. Because let's face it, if that wasn't the case, then it theatens their very existence. The problem, however, is these tech reviewers simply do not represent the purchasing public and the drive-by readers/critiques simply pile on and were never true purchasing power consumers to begin with, so their opinions are meaningless. Quoting specs, hardware design, etc mean very little to the average consumer that knows a great experience when they see/feel it. I think Google knows this. Software makes the experience, not hardware folks. Bottomline is that I no longer look to tech reviewers for advise or recommendations in my yearly smartphone upgrades. My personal experience with the Pixel 4 XL's battery is better than the Pixel 3 XL. I get through the day easily and am always near a charger whether in the car, home, or office. Not true. Otherwise it would sell better. If anything, tech reviewers have pumped it up. Who was it made for? I answered that at the end and it’s part of the problem.
Trenton Gold day this entire sentence is destroyed by one fact. It doesn’t sell well. The iPhone has a stupid design language but it’s an iPhone so it sells. Galaxy isn’t an iPhone but has an amazing design language and some bonus features so it sells. The pixel is an iPhone wannabe without being one and it has a terrible design so it doesn’t sell. So design is most definitely a huge fucking factor. If that wasn’t the case the entire industry wouldn’t be trying to maximize theirs screens
The Pixel 4 doesn't sell at all, PERIOD. It wasn't made to suit anyone's specific tastes, and that's what he addressed in the video. They are split between this being an internal experiment and trying to actually sell the phone to consumers and the result is a phone which is as confused as anything. They give a motion sense chip that no one fucking asked for, but then omit a wide-angle camera that everyone and their mother has on their phone today.
Hank Hill I don't care about wide angle and what "everyone and their mother has on their phone". I happen to like motion sense. I absolutely love the fact I can tweak motion sense to my liking. I hate bloatware,I hate skins on top of Android that look cartoony,I hate iOS,and I could give a fuck less who's buying what. And btw, I love my Pixel 4xl. "PERIOD." Guess the phone is aimed at me.
I wonder what would happen to an android fan if they ever found out that some people who are into tech actually prefer iPhone because of the overall package it offers and not just because of the logo on the back.

I might have said some things differently, but the you really nailed the picture on overall product planning failures. Better than any review I’ve seen. Google may have missed some deadlines on some features, still they might consider moving the release date to avoid punishing early adopters.
I think people don't really understand what the Pixel is and why it's important. It's there to help Google build a better version of Android. In that way it's been a smashing success. Every year, since they released the Pixel, Android has become way more stable and useful on day one. Android 10 was as smooth a launch as one could have for a major OS launch. Android is now very much what iOS used to be. A very stable operating system.
I think that’s a nice story, but it hasn’t been true in the past. The pixel team got almost no access to the android team. Less than other vendors got. Which is why their implementation of android was often so problematic. Even so, like I said in the video, they manage to do a really good job all things considered. Apparently, they started working more closely together very recently. I hope that’s true.
Even with the negative reviews. I bought the pixel 4 xl on the discount. I enjoy it so much more than the note 10 and iPhone 11. The experience on it has been excellent.
It's not as bad at all as people are making it out to be. They are comparing the battery to other phones making it seem like the battery is horrible. You'll get through the day with around 20 30 percent left. It won't die on you if that's what you're wondering......unless you're playing Pokemon go all day.
The prices dropped hard on this phone. I am watching the used market on the German eBay store and used Pixel 4 in good condition sells for around 400€. That is fairly ridiculous. At that price it is an excellent phone and you even have enough money left to buy a Powerbank for this phone! Personally I am very happy with the phone, besides the okay battery. I can live with it, but what about a year or two when the battery degraded a bit?
Okay I admit it. You're Brilliant at analysis! 😍😍😍 I used to hate you before, with the whole "this is Vector" schtick but after getting an iPhone (the ax’s Max) and getting 6S for two friends I’ve come around. You’re right to be so enthusiastic about Apple products. They’re worth the hype and the company genuinely cares about the user experience. I’m in love with safari, for example.
Dude. UA-cam Gabe me this video as a suggestion. I just subbed. Wow, you did a fantastic job of a review. Objective truth and really good subjective comments. Thanks so much! Can't wait to watch more from you. Hope your channel grows!
Wow. This was hands down the best, most in depth, and most honest review of the Pixel 4 I've seen yet. I am super impressed Rene. Keep doing these kinds of reviews.
I honestly feel like if google did a copy of apple, an Android version with 3 camera and their camera hardware. Pixel 4 would have been a sell out. I honestly felt upset by the lack of bang for the buck. I opened my pixel 4 xl box, and was underwhelmed. I felt sad using the phone somehow. Like it didn't get me excited the same way pixel 2xl did. So I returned the pixel 4xl only a few days later and went back to loving my pixel 2 xl.
Save your breath man this guy has a bias towards everything Apple (which isn't terrible) but video by video he defends EVERYTHING Apple does. And as an iOS user he would probably realize that Specs doesn't tell the whole story. If you want a real Pixel review go to Sam Beckman
Renee. You nailed it. I’ve never believed Google was ever serious about hardware. The hardware exists ONLY to give inventory to the company store and reduce the number of Apple products on Google campuses.
Yea, Rene, this review of the Pixel 4 was like my Western Civilization final exam in college: comprehensive, sweeping, full of glorious characters and events, and not a little angst-ridden.
Professional photographers? How many of those are there? Pixel takes great photos every day for the average phone user. I think your missing the point.
The regular Pixel 4 battery life is atrocious. I lasted 4 days with the phone until I returned it. For battery life this bad, it should be a $399 phone. Loved everything else about the phone.
Yea... when my colleague got the first pixel.. she was like: “nexuses were made by different companies (lg, Htc, Huawei, Samsung), while this phone is the first made by google.” So, it took me a “here you go.. the phones are made by htc.. just like nexuses. Google just.. changed their phone name from nexus to pixel”.
Although I agree with your point of view position with Google's supposed strategy. But it has been a company that has been growing ever non stop. Although phones aren't their core business, their phones are still considered "premium" phones. I currently have my first Google phone pixel 3, I've come from a long history of Sony phones. Specially for their cameras.... Pixel phones have a signature touch onall it's pics but subtle enough to be a good pic all around. And the info harvesting thing.100%!!!! But there's no free lunch... Want an AI for your photos? Want free cloud storaing? Wanna unify all your stuff under one account? Shoot.... It all has a $
Nitin Chawla that’s more of a recent trend. I never thought he’d be one to listen to criticism but in tweaking his objectivity he’s become, in my mind, the best tech analyst on UA-cam alongside Dagogo Altraide (ColdFusion) and Tech Alter.
Battery life needs to get better on all phones. Im a superpower user and use a iPhone X and Galaxy S10+. Charge both phones twice a day at least. I know I'm outside the norm since a lot of people I talk to or try to show them things they can do on their phones don't seem to care or don't use them that much. But these are the same people who complain about phones and switch phones. But yea battery life on my phones if I use it normal I can see those day a day and half. But damn that's mostly keep my phones in my pocket.
I returned my pixel 4 a few days ago and upgraded to the pixel 3a XL for half the price. Pixel 4 is a nice high end point and shoot camera with a tiny battery, but I needed a smartphone. 😏
Pixel 4xl is by far the best Android experience on a phone. Google collects data sure, but it makes the experience with a phone muuuuch better. Besides what company doesn't collect data these days. At least Google makes good use of it. Google assistant is much smarter than Siri. Only thing I don't like about the phone is the motion sense but it's disabled on my phone. The battery isn't a problem at all that's a nit pick that is essentially a non factor unless you're literally on your phone non stop all day. As far as video quality, despite what people say it's actually better in quality aside from the lack of 4k 60fps which really isn't a big deal. Most phones these days have preapplied color correction which I do not like at all.
Not quite as Apple biased as I was expecting. I use an iPhone 11 Pro Max (because the Apple watch has no competition) but if the Pixel 4 XL had come out with the battery life of the iPhone I would buy it tomorrow. Google are inconsistent, sometimes amateurish and often just play at things and that's why I love them, they're not like anybody else.
howieb2001 It’s clear Google is just phoning it in (no pun intended). They are not serious about building the best device. They just need a device to sell to their own employees at their company store.
@@alliejr agreed. They aren't serious about trying to make the best phone possible. But iOS is just so rubbish in terms of extended usability. It's great if the usage case falls within what Apple has allowed but if you need to use different things like such as looking at device folders then it becomes a rubbish OS quickly. That's the ONLY thing keeping me on Android. The fact you aren't hampered. The hardware we all know is so shite on the pixel compared to iphone
I wonder if Google would ever go back to "Google Edition" phones? That makes more sense for them. Basically take that year's Galaxy and put pixel launcher, google camera, and just stock Google apps. Pixel products are all over the place and inconsistent to me.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING REVIEW! This is the Pixel review everyone needs to see! THIS IS WHAT IS UP WITH THIS DAMNED PHONE. This is the definitive review for this phone.
the phone does adapt with your usage.. You tubers need to stop lying to these people. Battery life is based on the user and the user only not a you tuber bashing battery life
Seriously!! And you would think being that this guy is an iOS guy he would know that specs doesn't always tell the whole story. And yes the battery is adaptive (to be fair Google didn't really explain it) but I get through a day easily I don't get home after work till 11pm (Eastern Time zone) and I still have 30-40% battery.
People really dont need an ultrawide camera, only reviewers cry about it all the time... People really dont need a 4k 60 frames per second because even 1 minute of full HD at 60 frames takes too much space... so why do you all cry about absence of 4k 60 frames when nobody will ever use it? ... It has a radar and its useless, ok I agree, but most people will never use it, so why to even pay attention to that just for making your review look longer? And I could continue...
Google is developing technologies for saving the future of humanity ... with the money they got by selling my personal information. So, in a way, I contributed to the saving of humanity. That makes me a saviour. Where is my church?
Other phones have newer designs but do they have better designs? We all know cutouts are not the answer, people hated them before getting used to and rightfully so. I think s9 and note 9 had the best design and any design with a cutout is not better or worse than this pixel.
Two major things have swayed my decision for an upgrade from my 8+ this year. - The iPhone 11’s incredible video/photo quality. - The sub 4-hour battery life on the Pixel 4.
Beyond the poor battery life that everyone talks about there we so many other good points made about design, direction and hardware/software cohesiveness (or lack thereof). I really enjoy this style of reviewing, great job Rene.
Samsung might be a better phone but I can't stand having duplicate apps which Android already have. 2 emails, 2 photo galleries, 2 app stores, 2 voice assistances which takes away from a really good phone. Like Pixel phones better but not going to buy the Pixel 4 seems like a device they rush to put out
It’s looking as if they saw the iPhone 11 max and 11 max pro, and said I can do this cheaper watch this. Yet none of the functionality for that phone even compares to Apple days. I guess trying to impersonate really is the best form of flattery #FailedAttempt
He's tough on google bc he's clearly a superfine of apple. Data is data. Data will be collected on everyone in the digital age. If not google, some other entity would do it. iPhone users are also sharing their data w/ the services they use. If the services are going to get better on any platform, then data on your users MUST be collected. I work in software dev and its laughable to not think this is the case. User data not only allows you to pivot and make existing services better, but it also allows devs to come up with new products and services based on how users interact w/ current offerings. This guy is acting like he's doing a service to the common man by being 'tough' on google. This dude defends so hard. Its almost like he's a Sony fanboy from the ps3 era lol.

Which is why their implementation of android was often so problematic. Even so, like I said in the video, they manage to do a really good job all things considered. Apparently, they started working more closely together very recently. I hope that’s true.
I like your reviews a lot. You sound soo authentic
Apple's photos come out in warm tint. Pixel is far better.
Agree! After I got my xs last year I stopped taking photos with my phone it's just that bad
Very good and insightful review! Thank you.
Even with the negative reviews. I bought the pixel 4 xl on the discount. I enjoy it so much more than the note 10 and iPhone 11. The experience on it has been excellent.
not everyone is gona play a game for 5 hours straight lol
But all Pokémon GO players will 😁
The phone is just disappointing , plain and simple 🤷
I really want to buy one but that battery is what keeping me from switching from my pixel 3a xl
It's not as bad at all as people are making it out to be. They are comparing the battery to other phones making it seem like the battery is horrible. You'll get through the day with around 20 30 percent left. It won't die on you if that's what you're wondering......unless you're playing Pokemon go all day.
0:44 I love how he completely omitted Microsoft out of the equation, lol.
Ironic since they are way better than anything he compared with.
i wish i was this enthusiastic about something
Instant sub to you. Awesome in depth review!
Watching on my Pixel 4XL. 😁
Hope your battery will last through the 17 minute video 😅👌
LMAO me too!
Same here! Love it
@@mikekhayat9487 I get between 6 and 7 hours SOT every day, battery isn't much of a problem for me.
Lol same here. My "bad battery" has yet to die on me before my day is over lol.
Is this phon worth $600?
The prices dropped hard on this phone. I am watching the used market on the German eBay store and used Pixel 4 in good condition sells for around 400€. That is fairly ridiculous. At that price it is an excellent phone and you even have enough money left to buy a Powerbank for this phone! Personally I am very happy with the phone, besides the okay battery. I can live with it, but what about a year or two when the battery degraded a bit?
Okay I admit it. You're Brilliant at analysis! 😍😍😍
I used to hate you before, with the whole "this is Vector" schtick but after getting an iPhone (the ax’s Max) and getting 6S for two friends I’ve come around.
You’re right to be so enthusiastic about Apple products. They’re worth the hype and the company genuinely cares about the user experience. I’m in love with safari, for example.
Excellent review.
Is there another device out there that can do on device dictation from a recording.
4ACC 4ACC there is probably an app on iOS lol
Worst's point of view I don’t think so, but I’d love to be proven wrong.
4ACC 4ACC there are 4-5 apps in iOS with good reviews as I saw I don’t know how good they are I used one of them and it worked fine .
Great video, thanks a lot for making a so-detailed video!
So I returned the pixel 4xl only a few days later and went back to loving my pixel 2 xl.
phone has 5 unique features on the market plus best camera for photos, people still complain...
Which 5 features? And how compelling are they compared to other phone’s features? Sadly, other cameras have caught up.
Google really dropped the ball this year. I had a pixel 2 and was gonna get the 4 but ended up getting the 11 pro max.
Mr_Chukes same here. Battery life is a must.
Eddie Castillo yeah I’m out all day most days and I can’t deal with bad battery life.
The 11 Pro Max is a beast.
David Jacobs yeah it won me back to iOS. Haven’t been here since the 4 lol. My wife is getting an 11 pro.
5:46 the lady looks so much like the Cuban-Mexican singer-actress Niurka Marcos 😲
This was such a great review. One of the best I've ever watched.
Yea, Rene, this review of the Pixel 4 was like my Western Civilization final exam in college: comprehensive, sweeping, full of glorious characters and events, and not a little angst-ridden.
When someone does not understand the whole point of anything at 90hz or above.
Yeah Rene maybe look at a monitor with 144hz.
Google has been doing this for a while. Their first iKnockoff was the G1 I believe.
@@appleexposed4404 you mean first android phone?))) It was Nexus 1 by HTC.
i know i dont like pop up mechanical gizmos lol
Good video, but I feel you have a conflict of interest for certain false information that you are saying.
Rene Ritchie is humble and sincere. Love the reviews
Superb review.
First video I've watched from you. You are knowledgeable and non biased. You've gained a subscriber. Awesome video
Shoot.... It all has a $
This review was fantastic. Fair and truthful.
Watching on my Pixel 4 XL 👍🏻
Stellar review ! Ur videos! seems non biased and really well done 😁
Nitin Chawla that’s more of a recent trend.
I never thought he’d be one to listen to criticism but in tweaking his objectivity he’s become, in my mind, the best tech analyst on UA-cam alongside Dagogo Altraide (ColdFusion) and Tech Alter.
Mark Awachie haha i could name a few more tech youtubers who are at the same level! But ur dead on right! About what u said!
No talking about the soli chip
What's soli chip?
@@zafarmahmood8410 radar tech
Get the 3a or 3a xl.
cOUNTRY is not ready for 5g.. heres not enoiugh pure 5 g support for anyone yet consistently
Let's get Rene to 150K by Christmas!
he gonna reach that by the end of next week at the latest...
Ha! Thank you! Tell your friends :)
this is one of the best tech reviews i have ever seen!
This will be interesting to watch. A true Apple user giving his perspective on a Pixel 👍
@@alliejr Totally agree but I will still favour their hardware above anybody else's.
@@supaahflyy Everyone has different requirements and priorities. Your "rubbish" is my "works great" OS. Thankfully we all have a choice.
I wonder if Google would ever go back to "Google Edition" phones? That makes more sense for them. Basically take that year's Galaxy and put pixel launcher, google camera, and just stock Google apps. Pixel products are all over the place and inconsistent to me.
The only thing I want on iOS is Google Assistant baked in. Siri is not even in the same league as GA.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING REVIEW! This is the Pixel review everyone needs to see! THIS IS WHAT IS UP WITH THIS DAMNED PHONE. This is the definitive review for this phone.
Best phone out.
Coming from a previous Note 10+ owner.
the phone does adapt with your usage..
Designed by engineer + Engineered by designer = pixel 4
People really dont need an ultrawide camera, only reviewers cry about it all the time... People really dont need a 4k 60 frames per second because even 1 minute of full HD at 60 frames takes too much space... so why do you all cry about absence of 4k 60 frames when nobody will ever use it? ... It has a radar and its useless, ok I agree, but most people will never use it, so why to even pay attention to that just for making your review look longer? And I could continue...
Orginal pixel referred the design of HTC One X9 (for the most part). I know cuz i had that phone.
You should talk about all the software that Google installed that tracks every single thing you do.
He did right at the beginning of the video.
I absolutely love the Pixel 4 XL I have been using for day 10 of 30 came from a iPhone 11 and can't say enough good things about the Pixel. #teampixel
Love how you say Google is so important when I consider them the worst company on the planet. Actively censorjng free thought for ad sense.
He actually makes a lot of senses. That price range does not allow for all-over-the-place design and Identity.
Google is developing technologies for saving the future of humanity ... with the money they got by selling my personal information. So, in a way, I contributed to the saving of humanity. That makes me a saviour. Where is my church?
Maybe I'm in the minority but I still prefer iPhone camera over the pixel
Other phones have newer designs but do they have better designs? We all know cutouts are not the answer, people hated them before getting used to and rightfully so. I think s9 and note 9 had the best design and any design with a cutout is not better or worse than this pixel.
Hands down one of the best almost documentary style review of the pixel 4 on UA-cam
Finally UA-cam app is back to its old design. At least google listened this time. Google has become shit.
I don’t care what anyone say about the pixel.. the pixel have the best user experience fuck all the other shit
Two major things have swayed my decision for an upgrade from my 8+ this year.
- The iPhone 11’s incredible video/photo quality.
- The sub 4-hour battery life on the Pixel 4.
Why is this a poem
how is this a review? There is nothing usful said at all just a pissed off rant.
Beyond the poor battery life that everyone talks about there we so many other good points made about design, direction and hardware/software cohesiveness (or lack thereof). I really enjoy this style of reviewing, great job Rene.
Future of pixel is midrange.
Samsung might be a better phone but I can't stand having duplicate apps which Android already have. 2 emails, 2 photo galleries, 2 app stores, 2 voice assistances which takes away from a really good phone. Like Pixel phones better but not going to buy the Pixel 4 seems like a device they rush to put out
exactly, samsung has the best features and hardware but their software sucks..
Sometimes I miss high school.... then I come to your channel 👍 👌 great work
It’s looking as if they saw the iPhone 11 max and 11 max pro, and said I can do this cheaper watch this. Yet none of the functionality for that phone even compares to Apple days. I guess trying to impersonate really is the best form of flattery #FailedAttempt
I feel like EVERY Tech UA-camr praises Rene which gets him out there for people to subscribe but he only has 148k subs? How!?
