Bro my Pixel XL gets here Weds and this was by far the best video I've seen yet on Pixel phones. Super AWESOME. I can't believe I wasn't already subscribed to your channel but I am now. I was kinda spooked from alllll the negativity videos going around about this phone. I have the note 9 and wanted something that offers a better Google Assistant experience so I went with the 4 XL and when you told us about the locking the phone down part so someone can make a call or play a game without snooping through my phone you hit it on the money bro. I have a 8 year old niece that LOVES playing with my phone an I don't want her messing with any of my scumbaggness lol... You're awesome bro. Issues with the P4 - No 4k front facing camera -No wide angle rear facing lense -Offensive pricing -Terrible storage options -Very dim screen on the phone -Bad battery life -Deceiving 90 fps advertising that goes back to 60 -Ugly color options -Gimmicky features dating back to 2013 -No headphone jack -No headphones included This is a trash phone which hurts me to say. I had the Samsung Galaxy Nexus that I hold near and dear to me, but this ain't it chief.
And to add to your list: No 256 GB storage option (which is why Google disabled the 4k@60fps option - namely not enough storage) No 8 GB of RAM - yes people say Google "optimizes" the phone and therefore it's "not necessary". They said the same about every other Pixel phone and we're wrong. No 855+ SoC - could have given us the extra speed with a big enough battery No 30 W charging

I was really confused between choosing a pixel 4 or oneplus. Thanks to you I just purchased my pixel 4 XL and I'm really satisfied. Specs on paper really doesn't matter that much, you won't find any better Android experience than this
How have you been finding the batter life on the 4 XL? I'm tempted and am just a fairly normal user however I like the brightness up pretty high. I'm sure its decent enough but you hear bad reviews on UA-cam.

Digging deep into the phone! I miss it 😄 I turned AoD off so I could maximize Motion Sense to turn my display on when I reach for the phone! I also dig that Wallpaper! 😂😂 you got that fine print mode on! I forgot about System UI Tuner!!
I'm sure someone already corrected you on it but if not, it's not "live transcribe" when you hit the volume button. It's called, "live caption" and has to be set up the first time you use it, which is done under the "see more" tab under the volume settings. Loved the video! Thank you for your help!!

Yeah! It's coming. I put this out in the meantime while I'm working on it. The forced 90 hz on P4XL is the same as my Note 10 Plus. Overblown drama, it seems.

@@AMD718 He mentioned Pixel 4Xl, which, if I may remind you, has a decent size battery. The point of concern in the tech community is it's smaller cousin, Pixel 4.
@@karandev9316 I agree the non-XL's battery is shamefully undersized. I was only thinking of the XL myself. The smaller phones just don't work for me. However, to your point, the tech industry is actually conflating 4XL battery life with the regular 4. Guilty by association.
I dunno if it is just me but I just got the Pixel 4 XL today. The power button is a bit wiggle and seem a bit to wobble compared to the volume rocker. Is this the case for everyone?

Are you looking at Google's Recorder app and not another recorder app that you downloaded? Remember this only works on the Pixel 4/4XL (and apparently other Pixel's in the near future) Go to your apps on your Pixel 4/4XL, look for the "Recorder" app, the widget is red with white vertical bars, hope this helps!!
I'm an anomaly in the Android fanbase. I've always liked the slower animations, so I use 1.5. Everything looks and feels so jumpy and explosive with it on .5. But it seems most guys like the speed of the .5. I just think it looks bad. 1.5 feels very fluid and looks nice. I also notice frame drops a lot on .5.
I am having problems with my Google Pixel 4 XL since upgrading to Android 12 it seems my facial recognition stopped working due to a certificate expiration issue after the motherboard was replaced and the Android operating system was upgraded any ideas why and what the fix might be? Oh and factory reset does not fix it according to everything I've read
Holy fuck, that rotation thing is a lifesaver. So, I've had the Note 10 Plus for the last 6 months and I am sick and tired of Samsung screwing up the updates. It's overheating (Yes, got the shitty international Exynos version), battery is getting worse and worse with every update, Samsung's update policy is garbage to begin with. Now I said screw it and I decided to strike Samsung from my life entirely after 13 years of using Samsung. I am going with the Pixel. I refuse to pay full money for it, but when I find a good deal (No, no used stuff. Bah), I go for it. And I found the Pixel 4 XL for a good price, so I went with it. Alongside a fitbit and such, since I need my fitness tracker. (Since I am not using Samsung devices with the Pixel then, screw that) In the last months I noticed how much the Pixel is not about hardware, but the love Google puts into the software/features. And holy shit, I am sold already. Well, I was sold yesterdat already. I ordered the phone and such, but it's weekend, so no delivery for me. I gotta wait 2 more days or so.
Hey Brandon, On my Pixel 4XL, the google assistant keeps activating....while in my pocket. Not touching it. Also, randomly, the assitant activates and interrupts a game I am playing or video I am watching. It then takes up half the screen and am forced to figure out which geture will return me to my afore mentioned task. Have you, or anyone, seen this before? I like the google assistant, and want to keep using it however, WHEN I DECIDE TO. Any tips will be greatly appreciated. - Serg
The volume of the call of my pixel 4XL although it is in the minimum of the configuration, it is always too high. Also, when I try to increase the volume during the call (or lower it), it is always at the same level, it does not seem to respond to the command. Obviously I've already tried modifying the call sound settings, but nothing happens. I made a factory reset, it was fine for a couple days then it start doing it again. It seems that the top speaker is always at maximum. The same thing happens to me with audio messages. Could someone help me to solve this problem?
Hey Brandon I was just wondering the sides of my Google Pixel 4 XL is really really hot temperature wise I was wondering if there's anything I could do about that currently I just put it onto the charger it came with. I just got the phone a few hours ago. Everything's all synced up and backed up it's such except for my mp3 music which I'm going to have to begrudgingly redownload....anyways Why is it so hot
Two-button navigation is much more efficient than three-button navigation. Gesture navigation sucks lemons. I don't think gesture navigation was as bad in in the Android 10 preview on the Pixel 3XL and 2 XL as it is on the Pixel 4 XL.
You did not mention the rather new chat function of the Google Messages App, RCS, the descendent of the SMS which works over the internet like Apples iMessage. And while we are talking about chatting and Google vs. Apple comparison: I think you should have also mentioned Google Duo (which is supposed to replace FaceTime for iOS switchers).
Got this phone a month ago as a switch from a iphone se and somehow the se siri is better then this phones ok google. 1. when you say ok google a sound or vibration does not occur defeating the point of using ok google when you cant look at your phone. I have no idea if it activated. 2. it will not read full long messages(ex. it will tell me I have a long text message and then read half and ask me if I want to replay. well, that's going to be impossible since I haven't herd the whole fucking message. 3. ok google will randomly not listen to me. even though it is activated it will not hear me every time in particular commands. its a glitch. example: ok google put on my calendar that I have work at 2 on Friday. "okay, I have on Friday at 2:00pm in work. Do you want to save that?" I would like to say yes but ok google will never hear my voice every time. I have to re-hit the microphone to say yes for it to prosses the command. example: "would you like to send that message" yes i would but i again have to hit the microphone for it to hear me. this is all when it is activated and should be listening to my voice. I can hold it directly in front of my mouth and it still will not hear me. 4. sending text messages: it will send the message. it will not read it back to you, it will not ask to send it, it just sends it the moment you stop talking and hopefully you can get to the little checkmark on the phone fast enough to stop it if it auto corrected you or miss heard you. AGAIN DEFEATING THE WHOLE POINT OF VOCIE ACTIVATION! I still have to look at my phone and type the message every single time. 5.. and that's if it hears me at all. the range on this phone sucks. The s 10 will hear me when its inside a drawer in my bedside table probably 70% of the time. but the pixel 4 can barely manage to hear me when it is at arm's length. if you have a Thoracic outlet syndrome like I do and can not hold or text on a regular basis because of pain this phone is practically useless to me. I rely heavily on voice activation software for all of my messages and event planning.
thanks for your pixel videos. after the 3rd I tried the note 10 plus and was totally unhappy. after your video i changed again and it fits. apart from the battery and ... the problems with g-suite. it happens to me again and again that I say "hey google, remember ..." - the incredible answer is known. Google is silent about it. i would even pay money for it. did you find more information?
I have a question: when you are in the lock screen and the phone is locked. And you have a notification (new message for example). When your phone unlocks (but you stay in the lock screen). Is sensitive information appearing ? (In this case : the message content and the recipient of the message). Like an iPhone when face ID recognizes you.
I would really like to know what became of the pixel 4XL when you go to Google's website now it only shows like four A's and whatever other things but no pixel 4 XL why is that?
Open a black pic in the dark and put brightness on dim and then on bright you can see black getting brighter... So does it actually "turn off"? Basically if you don't have pure black it'll never turn off the pixels, and when does that ever happen? Or I'm missing something here?
There is a feature called Verification code auto-fill. Enabling this feature will allow verification codes to access apps sent by text message to auto-fill within the app so you don't have to manually type in the texted codes. To enable this feature, go into Settings - Google - Verification code auto-fill at the bottom - Turn on. If you have an app like "LastPass", you can tap on the auto-fill service settings - add service to add that app to auto-fill passwords from that app as well.
I changed something in settings that has reformatted everything to the right side of the phone. My calendar is a mirror image of what it should be. Don't know how to change it back.
I'm interested in buying a Pixel 4XL phone. I understand that the brightness (especially if outside) is not good. Is it really that bad? If so, is there a patch that can correct this? Or should I just consider another device? Any opinions/help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
7:13 Im upset at at Google for taking away The 2 Button Gesture Swiping (which in my opinion was the Goat Gesture) just to incorporate the app switcher.... The lack of an actual Back button on the bottom irritates me, & if you use 3 button navigation you can't easily swipe between Apps 🤦🏾♂️

Does it have like secure folder like from Samsung? Where you can move apps that needs more security like bank apps, even pictures or other files that you want to be more secure, that will ask you a password or in Pixel 4 / xl case face unlock.

How do you share or forward a text on this pixel4. on my old Samsung 8 I just had to hold down on the text and it would ask me what I want to do....easy. can not find anything for forwarding or sharing???
If I remove my one and only Google account from my phone to enable the new assistant, am I going to have to log back into Gmail or the other apps that use it? I don't even know why this is an issue, I've always had a bog-standard Google account and not a Gsuite one.

It came out. Finally!!!! It's a nice phone given its limitations. Permanent 90 hz makes the battery unusable. But what about the small battery, lack of storage, lack of headphones, lack of a USB dongle, and lack of a wide angle camera? And if Google is going to be stingy with an underpowered battery couldn't they have thrown in 30 W charging. Imagine: OnePlus 7T Plus + Pixel's sensors + Pixel's software = best possible phone of 2019.
I have 90hz forced on my 4XL and even after 3 1/2 hours SOT including playing CoD Mobile for around an hour I still have around 56% battery left which I consider pretty good!
I want to like the Pixel 4. But the bulk of the reviews on the battery are just straight out bad. Maybe it takes a while so that it learns how you use the phone. But couldn't Google have included headphones, a dongle, 256 GB storage, a 30 W charger, and 8 GB of RAM. They're driving a lonnnng time Android user away along with many others just like me.

It's great on the XL! 5.5 hours to 6 hours SoT with 90 hz forced and 100% screen brightness!

The Gsuite account not allowing continued assistant is really a bummer.
The way to get around the g suite thing, at least for emails, for now, is logging in to those emails through another app, I'm using outlook

I have a Samsung smart watch. It operates the same with the pixle as any Android device since it's just app oriented.

My recorder app doesn't show a transaction or an option to search. Can't find any setting to fix this. Anyone else?
Are you looking at Google's Recorder app and not another recorder app that you downloaded?
Remember this only works on the Pixel 4/4XL (and apparently other Pixel's in the near future)
Go to your apps on your Pixel 4/4XL, look for the "Recorder" app, the widget is red with white vertical bars, hope this helps!!

OK, I have sorted mine. Go to the Play store, click on My Aps & Games, click on Installed, find the ap and update it.
I'm an anomaly in the Android fanbase. I've always liked the slower animations, so I use 1.5. Everything looks and feels so jumpy and explosive with it on .5. But it seems most guys like the speed of the .5. I just think it looks bad. 1.5 feels very fluid and looks nice. I also notice frame drops a lot on .5.
I turn mines off completely and turned on the "Reduce Animation" settings.

I am having problems with my Google Pixel 4 XL since upgrading to Android 12 it seems my facial recognition stopped working due to a certificate expiration issue after the motherboard was replaced and the Android operating system was upgraded any ideas why and what the fix might be? Holy fuck, that rotation thing is a lifesaver. So, I've had the Note 10 Plus for the last 6 months and I am sick and tired of Samsung screwing up the updates. It's overheating (Yes, got the shitty international Exynos version), battery is getting worse and worse with every update, Samsung's update policy is garbage to begin with. Now I said screw it and I decided to strike Samsung from my life entirely after 13 years of using Samsung. I am going with the Pixel. I refuse to pay full money for it, but when I find a good deal (No, no used stuff. Bah), I go for it. And I found the Pixel 4 XL for a good price, so I went with it. Alongside a fitbit and such, since I need my fitness tracker. (Since I am not using Samsung devices with the Pixel then, screw that)
In the last months I noticed how much the Pixel is not about hardware, but the love Google puts into the software/features. And holy shit, I am sold already. Well, I was sold yesterdat already. I ordered the phone and such, but it's weekend, so no delivery for me. I gotta wait 2 more days or so.

On my Pixel 4XL, the google assistant keeps activating....while in my pocket. Not touching it. Also, randomly, the assitant activates and interrupts a game I am playing or video I am watching. It then takes up half the screen and am forced to figure out which geture will return me to my afore mentioned task. Have you, or anyone, seen this before? I like the google assistant, and want to keep using it however, WHEN I DECIDE TO. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

The volume of the call of my pixel 4XL although it is in the minimum of the configuration, it is always too high. Also, when I try to increase the volume during the call (or lower it), it is always at the same level, it does not seem to respond to the command. Obviously I've already tried modifying the call sound settings, but nothing happens. I made a factory reset, it was fine for a couple days then it start doing it again. It seems that the top speaker is always at maximum. The same thing happens to me with audio messages.
Could someone help me to solve this problem?
Hey Brandon I was just wondering the sides of my Google Pixel 4 XL is really really hot temperature wise I was wondering if there's anything I could do about that currently I just put it onto the charger it came with. I just got the phone a few hours ago. Everything's all synced up and backed up it's such except for my mp3 music which I'm going to have to begrudgingly redownload....anyways

Two-button navigation is much more efficient than three-button navigation. Gesture navigation sucks lemons. I don't think gesture navigation was as bad in in the Android 10 preview on the Pixel 3XL and 2 XL as it is on the Pixel 4 XL.
You did not mention the rather new chat function of the Google Messages App, RCS, the descendent of the SMS which works over the internet like Apples iMessage. And while we are talking about chatting and Google vs. Apple comparison: I think you should have also mentioned Google Duo (which is supposed to replace FaceTime for iOS switchers).

Got this phone a month ago as a switch from a iphone se and somehow the se siri is better then this phones ok google.
1. when you say ok google a sound or vibration does not occur defeating the point of using ok google when you cant look at your phone. I have no idea if it activated.
2. it will not read full long messages(ex. it will tell me I have a long text message and then read half and ask me if I want to replay. well, that's going to be impossible since I haven't herd the whole fucking message.
3. ok google will randomly not listen to me. even though it is activated it will not hear me every time in particular commands. its a glitch.
example: ok google put on my calendar that I have work at 2 on Friday. "okay, I have on Friday at 2:00pm in work. Do you want to save that?" I would like to say yes but ok google will never hear my voice every time. I have to re-hit the microphone to say yes for it to prosses the command.
example: "would you like to send that message" yes i would but i again have to hit the microphone for it to hear me. this is all when it is activated and should be listening to my voice. I can hold it directly in front of my mouth and it still will not hear me.
4. sending text messages: it will send the message. it will not read it back to you, it will not ask to send it, it just sends it the moment you stop talking and hopefully you can get to the little checkmark on the phone fast enough to stop it if it auto corrected you or miss heard you. AGAIN DEFEATING THE WHOLE POINT OF VOCIE ACTIVATION! I still have to look at my phone and type the message every single time.
5.. and that's if it hears me at all. the range on this phone sucks. The s 10 will hear me when its inside a drawer in my bedside table probably 70% of the time. but the pixel 4 can barely manage to hear me when it is at arm's length.
if you have a Thoracic outlet syndrome like I do and can not hold or text on a regular basis because of pain this phone is practically useless to me. I rely heavily on voice activation software for all of my messages and event planning.

apart from the battery and ... the problems with g-suite. it happens to me again and again that I say "hey google, remember ..." - the incredible answer is known. Google is silent about it. i would even pay money for it. did you find more information?
I have a question: when you are in the lock screen and the phone is locked. And you have a notification (new message for example). When your phone unlocks (but you stay in the lock screen). Is sensitive information appearing ? (In this case : the message content and the recipient of the message). Like an iPhone when face ID recognizes you.
I would really like to know what became of the pixel 4XL when you go to Google's website now it only shows like four A's and whatever other things but no pixel 4 XL why is that?
Open a black pic in the dark and put brightness on dim and then on bright you can see black getting brighter... So does it actually "turn off"? Basically if you don't have pure black it'll never turn off the pixels, and when does that ever happen? Or I'm missing something here?
There is a feature called Verification code auto-fill. Enabling this feature will allow verification codes to access apps sent by text message to auto-fill within the app so you don't have to manually type in the texted codes. To enable this feature, go into Settings - Google - Verification code auto-fill at the bottom - Turn on. If you have an app like "LastPass", you can tap on the auto-fill service settings - add service to add that app to auto-fill passwords from that app as well.
I changed something in settings that has reformatted everything to the right side of the phone. My calendar is a mirror image of what it should be. Don't know how to change it back.
I'm interested in buying a Pixel 4XL phone. I understand that the brightness (especially if outside) is not good. Is it really that bad? If so, is there a patch that can correct this? Or should I just consider another device? Any opinions/help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
7:13 Im upset at at Google for taking away The 2 Button Gesture Swiping (which in my opinion was the Goat Gesture) just to incorporate the app switcher.... The lack of an actual Back button on the bottom irritates me, & if you use 3 button navigation you can't easily swipe between Apps 🤦🏾♂️

Does it have like secure folder like from Samsung? Where you can move apps that needs more security like bank apps, even pictures or other files that you want to be more secure, that will ask you a password or in Pixel 4 / xl case face unlock.

How do you share or forward a text on this pixel4. on my old Samsung 8 I just had to hold down on the text and it would ask me what I want to do....easy. can not find anything for forwarding or sharing???
If I remove my one and only Google account from my phone to enable the new assistant, am I going to have to log back into Gmail or the other apps that use it?
I don't even know why this is an issue, I've always had a bog-standard Google account and not a Gsuite one.

It came out. Finally!!!! It's a nice phone given its limitations. Permanent 90 hz makes the battery unusable.
But what about the small battery, lack of storage, lack of headphones, lack of a USB dongle, and lack of a wide angle camera?
And if Google is going to be stingy with an underpowered battery couldn't they have thrown in 30 W charging.
Imagine: OnePlus 7T Plus + Pixel's sensors + Pixel's software = best possible phone of 2019.
I've been getting 5 and a half hours of SoT at forced 90 hz. Same as the Note 10+ for me.
I have 90hz forced on my 4XL and even after 3 1/2 hours SOT including playing CoD Mobile for around an hour I still have around 56% battery left which I consider pretty good!

I want to like the Pixel 4. But the bulk of the reviews on the battery are just straight out bad. Maybe it takes a while so that it learns how you use the phone.
But couldn't Google have included headphones, a dongle, 256 GB storage, a 30 W charger, and 8 GB of RAM. They're driving a lonnnng time Android user away along with many others just like me.
