    I had a similar issue with my phone periodically not working on my model 3. The direct cause is that I had inadvertently disabled the Tesla app background activity on my Android phone. I changed my that setting and the issue was resolved. Thanks for your videos.

    Love the Tesla Keyfob. Has buttons for opening the trunk and frunk. It’s not too bulk to keep in a pocket, and always works.

    • @BecauseTesla
      @BecauseTesla  3 роки тому +2

      You're absolutely right...the Keyfob does have more features than this ring, but the ring serves a different purpose. Some people have both the ring and the keyfob. The ring is for those who want to go jogging, bike riding, swimming, hiking, climbing (hopefully not all at once) - but they want to leave their bulky wallet and keys locked inside the car or in their home. The ring doesn't get in the way and you can always access your locked car with it.

    My key card stays in my wallet and rarely need it. The reason blue tooth doesn't always wake up your car is b/c (at least on mine) is the phone is sleeping in low power too. Tap your phone to wake it up and your car will unlock. The ring is too pricey for me. Will stick with my phone and key card in my wallet.

      Some people buy rings like this one, and don't wear them. They instead put the ring on a keychain. If you're looking for something cheaper, you may be better off buying a replacement keycard from Tesla...they're around $25 (last I heard), and you can cut it open to take the RFID to make your own keychain.

      Their website needs to be updated as I believe this came out before the Model Y. Model 3 and Model Y both use key cards with NFC chips. This will work in your Model Y the same. The car is smart, but not smart enough to know the difference between adding a new key card or a smart ring (they both use the same NFC chip inside them). I will go so far to say that this should also work in the new refreshed Model S and Model X as they also now can use a key card.

    Hi Erik. Been a fan of your channel for quite a while! OMG! I’ve had the exact same problem with the Bluetooth connection between my iPhone and the car. It started a while ago after an update to the car. Used to be that I could just walk up to the car and open the door, and I never had a problem starting it. But now, I have the same problems as you have described. The only way to get a connection going is to launch the phone app. Additionally, sometimes, after getting into the car, it still asks me for the key card in order to get it into drive! So basically, something has changed. Now, the app always has to be launched in order to have a Bluetooth connection. Very frustrating!

    • @BecauseTesla
      @BecauseTesla  4 роки тому

      Kevin Unger yes, that’s what I’m finding out too. If I hard kill the Tesla app (like I always do with all my apps) it fails. If I leave it up running in the background , it works like it used to. Frustrating indeed!

    • @kevinunger8511
      @kevinunger8511 4 роки тому

      Because Tesla - Erik, similarly, I also hard close all my apps. Keeping them open is a drain on the phone battery. This includes the Tesla app too. My iPhone habits haven’t changed in years, and so I don’t recall EVER having to launch or relaunch the Tesla app to get into the car or start it. As a side note, the only connectivity issues I ever had was when the phone was in my back pocket of my jeans. It’s seems that your ass blocks Bluetooth signals! lol...and it still does!
      Thought: I wonder if Tesla changed the Bluetooth configuration of connectivity. Perhaps originally unlocking and driving was tied to the Bluetooth of the owners phone and not the app itself. Launching of the app would therefore only be for access to features. But now, unlocking and driving are now tied into the app itself, meaning therefore that the app has to be launched or “active” for access. What do you think? Is this plausible?

    • @BecauseTesla
      @BecauseTesla  4 роки тому

      @@kevinunger8511 Your theory could be plausible. It's hard to say. I've updated the car's software, the App's software, and my iPhone's software....so which is at fault? I'll make this one point though...I noticed the problem after updating the CAR's software. My gut instinct is that it has something to do with the car going to sleep and it's ability to wake up when you approach it. Even when I open the app, I see that it takes a while for the car to wake up. The app is what authenticates with the car. Bluetooth is only the means in which the app communicates with the car. I think Bluetooth is fine because I can still make phone calls and stream audio with no issues via Bluetooth. In my iPhone's settings, I just went to the Tesla app settings, and I had "location access" set to "while using the app" to save battery life. I just changed it to "Always" to see if the problem goes away. If battery life is still ok, I may leave it this way. Still testing this.

    • @kevinunger8511
      @kevinunger8511 4 роки тому

      Because Tesla - Thanks Erik. Yes, I have also noticed a rather lengthy hesitation when the car wakes up. It never used to be this way. All systems used to be immediate.
      My location access was also set to ‘while using the app’ and yes, I changed this yesterday to ‘always’ as well. I didn’t venture out today (Sunday) so I didn’t test. But Erik, here’s the thing. If the problem is indeed the car’s inability to wake up, then it should be affecting everyone. However, my wife, who is on an iPhone 11, doesn’t have these problems. I’m on an iPhone XR. I’m going to do some testing with her iPhone as well. She can’t verify if her Tesla app is launched or not when she approaches the car. Please keep me informed and I’ll do the same.

Maybe try emailing them to see if they have heard any feedback from other customers about sizing. If I had to do it over again, I would choose the smaller size since I like my rings tight. @@BecauseTesla this is the guy who had a delay with Hansshow and asked for a refund..they sent the refund! Phew. Thanks for letting me know they are slow to respond, probably dealing with a good amount of demand and not enough employees. Will order from them for real when I get my cybertruck *insert excited gif here*
