I’ve had their ring since 2019. Excellent customer service. The finish was damaged (2023) and they sent me a new one. I didn’t want a new ring but they sent it anyway.
I've had the black version of this ring for 4 years. It's fabulous. Go to the beach all you need is yours togs and towel - no phone, no wallet, no key card. In the garage want to open the car no problem - no need to go into the house for phone or key card. The new options are fabulous. Wife wasn't keen on her black ring and has kept it on a necklace but that's not ideal. The new bracelet and ring color options are great. May even get one to replace her black ring.
Great tool for Uber drivers like me, that drive on bad areas from time to time. I can keep the phone key unpaired in those areas and just the ring. In case the car gets stolen at gunpoint, you can always give it to them and they won’t be able to drive it.
@@futynuty these cars are getting popular in my area, because of the Hertz partnership with Uber. So lots of people know how they work with the card key but not with the phone connection.
i use one of these rings with my Model S. They no longer give key fobs with S or X. It's great always have my key with me, and I get lots of compliments on my Snow ring.
I asked my wife for the ring when I decided to buy Model Y 2.5 years ago. She didn’t understand me and got me a fub, which makes no sense at all. We sorted out misunderstanding and I happy to use my ring for 2 years now. It is most useful when I step out of the house to take or put something from/to the car. Some times I forget that I don’t have my phone with me, some ring safes me a trip back in the house. It doesn’t happened often, but I am glad it works. Of cause, main case is when the phone is dead, but this never happen for me so far. Some times for whatever reason car doesn’t open even though I have my operating iPhone with me. Instead of pulling out the card or try to make phone to work as expected (images to do that in the cold or under the range) I just use a ring. Some times it take a view tries to find the right place to apply the ring, but it is still much better than alternatives.
Cnick is only one player in the ring-key market these days - and many of the others are less expensive. Could you, perhaps, do a comparison review between Cnick and some of the other rings available?
I literally have a Model S key card in my hand RN. Refresh S. This seems like a way better backup than having the card around especially since i hardly carry a wallet.
With the Tesla app on the phone, I love being able to just walk up to the car, get in, put it in gear and drive away without having to put something into a particular place just to get going... I keep one card with me just in case, but the phone-key is the winner for me.
I custom order from CNiCK in December. And they didn't complete the ring until February. Which was not what they stated. The customer service has been very loose communication about the ring. And now it showing in shipping and its been stuck there for 2 weeks. And the communication was it can get stuck at borders for months. I never seen Mail get stuck at borders on ground like this. And it states in the shipping they not relieved the items. I do not suggest buying a custom ring from them. If there is one already made stick with that but it's been the worse experience for me.
Having a smart watch that allows you to take phone calls (be contactable for emergency) and having this ring means you can remove all other valuables and stow them in the car while you do whatever you need to do e.g. go to the gym or on a hike etc. Definitely first world problems type of thing but also very reasonably priced for what it is and who it's for.
I ordered a ring for my wife. She has a 2021 (marketing year) Model X. I checked with the local Tesla shop and they informed me we can't program the car to recognize the ring. is there a way to integrate the two?
If your local trusted friends have Teslas, you can also authorize their keycards on your Tesla. One keycard (or ring) can be authorized on multiple cars.
You probably can come up with a case when this would be the only solution, but I think ring covers much more than most of us with need over the lifetime. Also, if you got a ring, give your card to fiends for safekeeping.
@@ccibinel I was more saying as an emergency option in addition to the keycards. If the odds of them having a key are doubled then there should be no chance they don’t have one on them. They’ll likely always have either their phone or wallet with them, so even if one happens to not be with them they still have a key
They usually start with an actual keycard, melt the plastic away in acetone, then form the antenna and chip into a ring: ua-cam.com/video/JjmHPWcbZis/v-deo.html
Phones not connection with bluetooth irks me to this day. There's a design problem with the chip. The wi-fi and bluetooth use the same chip and antenna and they will fight over the same resources. Temporarily switching off the wi-fi would set up bluetooth just nicely, try it out.
Depends on what you're after. I think they key (haha) here is for easy backup and when you are wanting to carry nothing on you. Ring works quite well for that.
Disagree. Phone is better: don’t need to do anything, just open the door. However, if the phone doesn’t work for whatever reason, ring is the next best…
@@futynuty don’t think you have thought this through. Don’t need to do anything? You need to open phone and open app to press button to unlock phone. That’s doing something. Or carry around a bulky key fob and press button on device which can be hacked. Ring is nfc device which emits no signal or signal from vehicle is so localised it can’t be hacked.
@@tigertoo01 Uh, no you don't. My phone stays in my pocket. I don't need to take it out to unlock or drive my Y. The only times I use the Tesla app on my phone is to monitor Sentry mode or schedule a departure.
Hade one of the rings and they don't even work. Got mine, and it was useless. They wanted me to send that ring back, and they would ship a new one. I shouldn't have to do that.
It is a solid piece of plastic (in my case) there is no doors or connectors, so nothing to be exposed to the elements. My problem actually: metal watch band get rusty over time. This ring didn’t. I guess the screen is not “breathing” as easy under the ring, but I guess it would be for any ring this wide.
Yes, if you place it where the card would go. As I understand they buy cards from Tesla, cut chip out and build the ring around. So it is the same card in more convenient shape
That’s true, but would you care when you need to get into your car while standing under the rain? Just use the ring and get it, then you can complain to Tesla about their software
Much simpler to tap that pulling out the card. It is not the main key if you have your phone, but backup if the phone “dreaded” or for whatever reason not connecting to the car

I've had a Tesla ring for about a year, love it. Used it for a hertz rental once. Great backup if you lose your phone.

They might not be able to drive just because it is Tesla 😂.

With two Website and they state that they do have ring keys that work for the S and X
Bought 2 of this type in 2022 for me and the Wife, never used them, The S & X are compatible from 2021 or later btw.

I have a CNICK Tesla Ring and I love it.

Cool product. Thanks for the review. I put it on my wish when my reservation comes up on the CT.
Just rented a hertz 3 and y, my Samsung phone had zero problems and scanning the qr code on screen to pair tesla app worked like a charm. ZERO issues.

Wonder if they can make a special edition version that looks like the One Ring

Can one ring be used as a key to multiple cars or only 1 car?

My friends Model S Plaid uses a Keycard..
Hey Jesse if your phone is a galaxy 21 or newer it revokes permissions to 3rd party apps after so long of being locked.
Couldn’t get it to pair with my phone around the car.
What happens if you lose the ring, can you stop the function linked to your car or card?
Amazing
I’ve been trying to change my ring size before the order ships, but they don’t respond to my multiple emails. So far I’m not impressed.
Dear James, we apologize for any inconvenience. Could you please provide us with your support ticket ID?
*PSA:* Buy an extra pair of keycards from Tesla for $35 and leave them with local trusted friends or family for emergency situations.
You could probably also add their phones as keys
