Harkon's strain grow stronger without blood, they just become more visibly vampiric and less mortal (while weaknesses and strengths both become more pronounced). This wipes out both mortals and other strands of Vampirism so it's actually a clever move.

Bit off topic, but a short you guys posted a bit ago talked about the dragonborn being sent to continue the cycle rather than stop it. I believe I have found some rather obvious in-game proof of this. When talking to Paarthurnax about dragonrend, he will ask, 'Why do you want to learn this Thu'um?'. To which if you respond with 'I like this world. I don't want it to end.' He will say this in response: "Paaz. A fair answer. Ro fus… maybe you only balance the forces that work to quicken the end of this world. Even we who ride the currents of Time cannot see past Time's end… Wuldsetiid los tahrodiis. Those who try to hasten the end, may delay it. Those who work to delay the end, may bring it closer." I believe this is Paarthurnax saying that killing Alduin will do nothing but get the gears turning once again, hastening the end of the world. Now for a bit of a mid take from me: I think in TES6, either the Thalmor, a cult (similar to the Mythic Dawn cult) or both will be the antagonists. The Thalmor may use the next incarnation of Alduin in order to reach aetherious by 'destroying' Nirn or even wilder, the void of oblivion itself. A potential cult leader may try and use the next incarnation of Alduin and destruction of the world to become one of the new gods of the next world. Cultural gods in the event of the destruction of the world (this is if nirn, the moons, planes of daedra and oblivion itself are destroyed and remade) would cease to exist, or become a 'old' or 'forgotten' gods, influencing the world but dwindling in power due to lack of worship. Other gods based on concepts like sithis, akatosh and arkay, and the magna-ge (would be forgotten but would be worshipped as the sun) would likely survive. Of course, this means another 'save the world' plot, but I would hope TES6 would have better guilds, sidequests, world building lore, and eventually dlc making up for such a predictable plot.
Glad someone pointed this out. As we see in the caves and blackreach , some plantlife can survive without the sun but not enough to support a massive population. Odds are that as men/mer populations start to dwindle, the vampires would turn on each other to secure the remaining supply of blood.
@DEEZ GUTS Someone already mentioned that was very short sighted of Harkon He could have tried to pit Tamuriel into continous war, making opportunity for Vampires to thrive while going unnoticed or not having the troops to deal with them. Play the kingdoms like puppets. But I guess the main take away from him is, he's crazy, and crazy for power lol 😆 😂
Nope. Harkon's strain grows stronger without blood and only needs it to imitate mortals and repress urges as the gameplay mechanics show in Skyrim. ESO and Oblivion have differing strains that work differently to demonstrate this.
Whenever i start a new playthrough, i always kill Harkon 1st, Miirak 2nd, and Alduin 3rd. It's what i think is canonically weakest to strongest, so it makes more sense to kill them in that order.
I'm pretty sure plants would be fine. No WAY they wouldn't think about that. My theory would be that the process would simply corrupt the sun into putting out different magical energies or removing certain traits or wavelengths that aggravated their vampire blood. If we are ignoring magical Influence and think purely scientific than I would remind you photosynthesis uses red light the most so I would imagine the reddish glow would still work fine. We don't know the exact wavelengths put out so it's not for certain but at worst some full sun loving plants would suffer and shade loving plants would be fine.
I believe that the sun is affecting vampires power wise so that they cant use their whole power. Imagine a Vampire given blood directly by molag bal with no sun rays of magnus limiting their magic. They would be mini bal's running around
Huh, I remember having this discussion in a forum. Apparently, most organic life in Tamriel would die, which would be bad for vampires as well as they would have even less people and creature to feed on, so its highly possible the world would just slowly die unless the divine beings intervene.
Most likely scenario, with the Dawnguard's immediate knowledge of the Volkihar clan's plans in fulfilling a prophecy to darken the skies, the Empire, Stormcloaks, Admeri Dominion, and just about any faction who is bothered by it will be tipped off about the cause and eventually a coalition of Tamriel's armies would come knocking on Harkon's doors
I think that there was a movie similar to this outcome, where everyone was vampire, and humans was just farmed cattle or hunted. Blood was a rare commodity and a dwindling one. I can imagen in a world where mortals can't even grow food for them or their livestock, mortals would be rare or die out completely, leaving vampires to eventually starve to death as well. It's rather ironic that Harkons dream will lead to the death of his kind.
After a mere century, assuming that it doesn't create an eternal winter, there would be nothing left alive to slake the vampires' thirst for blood. Death by starvation.
It’s worth mentioning that plant life might not die off in the lack of Light energies from Aetherus. Light is -according to the Ayleids- one of four main energies. In the absence of light, plants and animals would either die off or quickly draw on alternative energies to sustain themselves. For example, draining latent arcane energies from the soil and becoming bioluminescence as a result of converting the energy of stone into usable light energy.
If one wishes to be the most powerful, the smart choice would be to limit the power of others. Harkon would have indeed caused power to others whod likely become rivals whod threaten his power.
This is why in my current play through I’m playing as Lamar bal and I’m using a mod that gives Harkon the blood matron(Lamaes sword) also using dark envoy mod alongside better vampires mod
It wouldve made more sense if Harkon had more of a Castlevania Dracula arc, where the tyranny of the sun was just a really long suicide letter that would wipe out everything and everyone.
gosh now that would be awesome if that happened cause then either the dragonborn sides with harkon and enslaves all the living or decides to fight against the vampires
So a theory I’ve heard of and liked when it comes to “The Tyranny of the Sun” is that it’s not the actual sunlight causing this issue of weakness for vampires. It’s the Aedric energies within sunlight, since vampires are the creation of Molag Bal. It’s already been pretty well-established that Arkay has some domain over the light of the world, so he could be flooding Nirn with his power from Aetherius to weaken vampires as much as he can. While he is unable to finish many strains of vampirism, he can make them so weak that they can be finished off by mortals without effort within daylight. This is what the prophecy aims to end: by using the blood of a sacrificed Daughter of Coldharbour, they profane the light that enters Mundus from Aetherius, twisting it and rending the vampire-burning properties it possesses. Plants wouldn’t die, but the minor influences of the Aedra would all but vanish from Nirn entirely.

Eternal darkness means no life (animals, crops, human, elf, etc), which means no food (blood) for the vampires. Do they need the blood to survive? If so... even they will fall.
Harkon's strain grow stronger without blood, they just become more visibly vampiric and less mortal (while weaknesses and strengths both become more pronounced). This wipes out both mortals and other strands of Vampirism so it's actually a clever move.
@@alpacalover0then hell have nothing left to rule assuming that is his goal. His plan is so cartoonishly short sighted
@@xChaosFlowerIt certainly is, but that's the way of his whole Clan. They all seek gratification in the short term and rarely plan well. His plan is clever because it achieves his short term goals, but those goals in of themselves are not very clever, if that makes sense. He'll end up with a dead and barren world with a hunger that can never be sated.
He isnt literally blocking the sun with a planet sized physical object.
He is using magic to remove the harmful effect of the sun on vampires.
If I remember correctly the Senile Scribbles actually made a good point as to why Harkons plans were doomed to fail anyways.
"He craves power, but power is relative to the context you wield it in" great quote!
Plus with no daylight, mo crops = next to no human population.
Plus more vampire feeding on humans means vampires starve ? 😅😅
Glad someone pointed this out. As we see in the caves and blackreach , some plantlife can survive without the sun but not enough to support a massive population.
Odds are that as men/mer populations start to dwindle, the vampires would turn on each other to secure the remaining supply of blood.
@DEEZ GUTS Someone already mentioned that was very short sighted of Harkon
He could have tried to pit Tamuriel into continous war, making opportunity for Vampires to thrive while going unnoticed or not having the troops to deal with them.
@Alan Holland Ya just heard about that. Very interesting..sure I heard it in game but forgot
Harkon is definitely one of those villians that never actually sit and think about their plan before acting on it 😅😅
Harkon's plan was incredibly short sighted, even for a mortal, let alone for a vampire.
I mean if he won then eventually Miraak would succeed in coming back to Tamriel and then just one shot him.
Whenever i start a new playthrough, i always kill Harkon 1st, Miirak 2nd, and Alduin 3rd. It's what i think is canonically weakest to strongest, so it makes more sense to kill them in that order.
@@hebercluff1665 Miraak is stronger than Alduin but fair enough.
Harkon when the last mortal dies of starvation:
"Huh. Yeah... I didn't think this through."
This reminds me of a line from "The Incredibles". "...when Everyone's a Super, No One will be..."
Not to mention, the entire continent declaring war on him and all vampires in an instant.
It's like what happened on the movie daybreakers. He'd eventually run out of food.
I always just imagined it going away after 20 minutes like when I do it
Don’t forget he’s more than just a vampire and only he can grant the vampire lord abilities
I believe that the sun is affecting vampires power wise so that they cant use their whole power. Imagine a Vampire given blood directly by molag bal with no sun rays of magnus limiting their magic. They would be mini bal's running around
Basically like a Roman emperor, not able to true his own generals or family.
I wonder what actually would happen to sun, knowing it's just a hole in Oblivion through which light and magic flows from Aetherius to Mundus
A king dreaming of being a common man
Huh, I remember having this discussion in a forum. Apparently, most organic life in Tamriel would die, which would be bad for vampires as well as they would have even less people and creature to feed on, so its highly possible the world would just slowly die unless the divine beings intervene.
No they can feed on blood magic and the world would be an extension of cold harbor
This reminds me of ugwes quote in kung fu panda 3 "the more you take the less you have."
Every time I have shot an arrow at the Sun and this happened I never even saw one vampire
This is indeed what both Serana's mother as well as Dexicon the moth priest say: 'We would all have been doomed: vampires and humans alike.'
The old what you gonna eat when the humans are gone conundrum
Most likely scenario, with the Dawnguard's immediate knowledge of the Volkihar clan's plans in fulfilling a prophecy to darken the skies, the Empire, Stormcloaks, Admeri Dominion, and just about any faction who is bothered by it will be tipped off about the cause and eventually a coalition of Tamriel's armies would come knocking on Harkon's doors
People would know what’s going on. The Dawnguard would make sure of that.
Without the sun, all life will die, making everyone immortal forever hunger
Funny thing is, the sun is barely an inconvenience to them.
Actually as humans die out due to plants dieing, the vampires will go mad with no food
They'd run out of food. The planet dies, then the vampires start killing each other
The embodiment of "be careful what you wish for."
Even if he did it, his whole food source would die.
When everyone is special, no one is special.
Deep inside Harkon wanted to die. There’s fixed the logic 😅
Not to mention if he won he’d just kill off his food source no?
Barring any interference from gods is a big stretch, cause they’re all gonna be pissed, no lag too probably if no one’s getting tortured.
After a mere century, assuming that it doesn't create an eternal winter, there would be nothing left alive to slake the vampires' thirst for blood. Death by starvation.
He’d find out he needs to repeatedly use the arrows
It’s worth mentioning that plant life might not die off in the lack of Light energies from Aetherus.
Light is -according to the Ayleids- one of four main energies. In the absence of light, plants and animals would either die off or quickly draw on alternative energies to sustain themselves. For example, draining latent arcane energies from the soil and becoming bioluminescence as a result of converting the energy of stone into usable light energy.
It would end up like Kain's Parasitic Vampire Empire. From legacy of Kain.
Or every faction puts everything on hold and the Empire wide vampire purge.
Harkon be like
Step one: kill off your food source 🤔
…this is all coming together
If one wishes to be the most powerful, the smart choice would be to limit the power of others. Harkon would have indeed caused power to others whod likely become rivals whod threaten his power.
No food for cattle, no food for vampires.
You would be surprised how easily mortal enemy factions can unite with each other against a common enemy.
This game has aged pretty well, but it’s amazing to think how state of the art it was when it first came out and how amazing the graphics were
Harkons didn't think about the future AT ALL
You forget they would run out of food.
Ebony warrior be like COME HERE I NEED TO BE STONGER
This is why in my current play through I’m playing as Lamar bal and I’m using a mod that gives Harkon the blood matron(Lamaes sword) also using dark envoy mod alongside better vampires mod
It wouldve made more sense if Harkon had more of a Castlevania Dracula arc, where the tyranny of the sun was just a really long suicide letter that would wipe out everything and everyone.
Exactly, he didn't think it through 😂
Everyone would unite and murk the vampires like what Valerica said. They’re better off the way they are now
gosh now that would be awesome if that happened cause then either the dragonborn sides with harkon and enslaves all the living or decides to fight against the vampires
Boon for vampires until they no longer have a food supply as mortals die off
Eventually, there won't be enough food to go around and they'll all stave to death. Re-Death?
Plants wouldn’t die, but the minor influences of the Aedra would all but vanish from Nirn entirely.
i figured that HArkon was mad, through his journey
after becoming a vampire he started to lose his mind
its crazy that skyrim content still gets so much attention i like it alot but its crazy
