Thank you for this. I used to feed my cat Beyond Wild wet because of the ingredients list. Don’t remember why I stopped. He’s in that “I don’t care for what you’re currently feeding me” phase (freeze-dried raw cat food), trying Tiki After Dark (twice the price of the freeze-dried food!), but I think we’ll go back to Beyond for now.
I am loving your channel...thank you for all of the amazing information to help keep our kitties healthy, happy, & safe!! I have 3 cats and 2 are obese which I’m working on and it’s a slow process but learning so much along the way. A little tip I’ve found when feeding pate food (or that type of consistency), add about a tablespoon of water for every 3 oz (I use warm/hot) and mix it up. This helps give off a little more of an attractive aroma for them AND it adds more moisture content which is essential for cats. Once opened, wet food needs to be refrigerated and some cats don’t like their food cold, so mixing a teensy bit of hot water helps make it more palatable for them. Just wanted to share as we’re all on this journey together. 😻♥️😻
@@AllAboutCatsYT Hi Mallory I didnt realize Purina Beyond has such high carbs! I have to recalculate for myself. I guess I did it wrong? I give this food to my cats mostly in the evening & early morning. They eat Wellness & Tiki for wet food for lunch. What other good quality dry food do u suggest that has better ingredients and lower carbs? Would Wellness dry be good? There is Wellness Core dry food which I bought late laat year. They hated it and refused to eat any. It had good reviews for a diabetic cat. None of my cats are diabetic, but I thought err to caution and to look for wet food low in phosphorus and sodium to avoid any potential kidney issues down the road. Pls advise. Thanks so much. Thank you for your review. ❤
I use Purina Pro Plan wet and dry food for my kitties. We have tried Authority and a few Science Diet. Can you do a video about them? I like that Purina is well known and in St Louis (where I am from) plus my vet recommends it. Thanks! I am always curious about high brands but also price point & rather the kitties eat it. Recall is huge!
I've been feeding mine Halo indoor chicken & liver recipe for the last 2 months. One of my cats has started to gain weight from it and I read it's because she's not getting the right kind of nutrition from it so she's overeating. I found it because my friend told me that what I was feeding them had dyes and corn in it. I also changed their morning canned food to applaws chicken and duck because it only has 3 ingredients. Right now I'm trying to start them on a raw diet and I can tell it's going to be a long road but they're worth it.
After watching all food reviews brands from Mallory, I am able to take better decisions while purchasing cat food . Good job and appreciate the effort you are taking ❤
You are one of the few youtubers with cat advice that I trust! I have a particular question. My cat is currently on Meow Mix (dry) and Fancy Feast (wet) He’s been on it for six years, and I found out with my research that Simply Nourish and Nulo may suit my cat the best. My question is, which out of the three would you recomend for my cat for both dry and wet? I hear that Nulo has some protein sources from China. I don’t feel exactly comfortable feeding my pets something that’s from China, although I’m not sure if it is true that Nulu has some protein sources from China. Anyways, have a wonderful day! Thank you for taking the time to read my comment!
Hi there! I'm not sure about the China rumors-I know that their ingredients are sourced internationally, primarily coming from North America, France, and New Zealand-but they don't go into specifics on the sourcing of each ingredient. That said, I've been overall impressed with what I've seen of Nulo's cat foods. You can read our review here: allaboutcats.com/nulo-cat-food-review We also reviewed Simply Nourish here: allaboutcats.com/simply-nourish-cat-food-review Between the two, I'd probably opt for Nulo-both for dry and wet foods. Hi Linda, thank you! We will consider 4Health for an upcoming review. In the meantime, here's our written review of the brand: allaboutcats.com/4health-cat-food-review
It was a great review as always! How would you rate the other Beyond wet food (salmon) which you showed earlier in the video? I have been feeding my cat Beyond Grain free wet food, the variety pack. Your input would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Hi Brian, good question! The Purina Beyond grain-free salmon food shown early in the video is a pretty good option. There are three differences between it and the Wild recipe mentioned later: organs, thickeners, and price. The grain-free food contains fewer organ meats. It also contains guar gum, while the Wild food is thickener-free. The foods in the grain-free line are also slightly cheaper, so they're a good option if you're watching your budget. Hope this helps!
Mallory, Thank you as always for your detailed reviews! I find this stuff so fascinating. And it helps me better learn how to feed my furballs! May I ask what you feed your cats? Do you have a go to product(s)? Since you have had your kitties try so many brands! Thanks!
Hello there! My kitties have been on a varied diet for a while-as long as it's high-moisture and meat-based, they are very often eating something that we're trying for a review. Right now, they're on a rotation of Tiki Cat and Fancy Feast paté.
@@AllAboutCatsYT my kitties like tiki cat as well! I changed to Fancy Feast for a bit because it was cheaper and per your recommendation I went with the flaked fish recipe! I'm looking into other options for one of my three cats. He recently was diagnosed with urinary crystals (despite getting wet food daily as well as access to two water fountains) and the vet wants him on a prescription diet for life. I want to eventually switch him to a higher quality food that will aid his health in the same way. So I always come watch your videos for new ideas. Thank you so much!
My cats LOVE the chicken grain free dry HOWEVER they would get fat eating it and I'm a believer in wet cat food for moisture so they only get the dry once every month MAYBE used as a few treats
Thanks for the review! I feed about 10 stray cats the whitefish and egg version. They all seem to enjoy it although 2 cats seem sensitive to it and have barfed a few times. Note that the price of this particular flavor varies dramatically. It is correct that at grocery stores, you will see it for about 17 cents an ounce (usually for the 5 pound version). HOWEVER, the 11 pound bag can be found a lot cheaper and I have ordered it through amazon and walmart at about 10 cents per ounce.
@@CantankerousDave That is how much I have been getting it for and it has been that price on walmart as well. I just grabbed 4 of those 11 lb bags at that price. But, it often is sold out so you need to check regularly...
Hi there! There are some nutritional differences between white and dark meat for cats, including the fact that dark meat has more taurine. Most recipes for homemade cat food ask for a combination of darker and lighter meat. That said, I believe that the "white meat chicken" label on the cat food reviewed here may be primarily a marketing ploy-the food contains chicken meal and doesn't specify what percentage of that meal is composed of breast, thigh, or other parts. Hope this helps to clarify!
I’m sorry, but I have one last question! I’ve started to feed my cat Nulo both wet and dry. Although it is getting rather expensive. I was thinking of giving my cat dry food everyday (because it is cheaper) and attempting to get him as much as wet food as possible throughout the week, although it can get expensive. So my question is, how much should I give my boy wet food throughout the week? Thank you!
Hi Heake, it's really up to you-ideally, cats should be on a wet-only diet, but if you can only feed a wet meal 3-4 days per week, that is good, too. If you're worried about it, add some additional water to your cat's bowl to bump up his moisture intake.
What wet foods would you recommend for picky cats? I’ve tried a huge variety with my cats, from Sheba to Tiki Cat. The only ones they seem to care for are a few flavors of Sheba and Fancy Feast. They refused Tiki Cat completely, and they also don’t like Hill’s wet food. I’ve tried a few brands from PetSmart like Simply Nourish and Authority. They reject most of it and just won’t eat it.
It sounds like your cat's might like the added flavor that's used in Sheba and Fancy Feast foods. Perhaps sprinkling Purina's FortiFlora would be helpful-it's a nutritional supplement/probiotic that contains animal digest, which is the source of concentrated flavor used very often in these foods.
my kittens are super picky too. they wont touch fancy feast kitten, tiki cat, hills, Nulo or ziwi peak. they do like Royal Canin kitten , Purina Pro Plan focus kitten and fancy feast grilled in gravy varieties or the gravy center ones

Hello there Hudson! Personally, I would lean towards Purina Beyond's dry foods over the Rachael Ray Nutrish given Purina's comparatively strong track record. Ultimately, though, I would focus on which food your cat likes better, as the two are comparable nutritionally.

Im struggling to find a good quality food other than royal canine that is also very low in fat cause my cat is alittle over weight. Most pet stores here where i live mostly sell royal canin and maybe a couple other brands but i cant get any of it cause its very high in fat. I even tried to order food for her from chewy through reshipping companies since chewy doesn’t ship worldwide. It was very expensive. Any advice?
@@keikothecat5568I don’t have amazon prime even amazon doesn’t ship cat food to my country. I can get alot of other things like toys and accessories but not food. I must have a us address for them to ship food for me.
I think it’s dry matter basis vs. as fed. It’s higher on dry matter since it’s normalized for the water content (or there lack of). It’s why wet food only says 9 to 12% protein on cans because there’s water making up much of its recipe. You take out the water in wet and there’s actually a lot more protein.
Hello there! @Tardis Dance is right-these values were calculated on a dry matter basis based on the minimums mentioned on the bag. Unfortunately, this is a rough picture of the actual nutrient content of the food, since the guaranteed analysis is a series of minimums and maximums. To obtain exact numbers, you'd have to contact the company and ask for a typical nutrient analysis.
Hi there! We'll consider it for a future video review. For now, you can read our written review of 4Health here: allaboutcats.com/4health-cat-food-review
Hi there Yang, thank you for your input. Sorry to hear that none of our previous recommendations are available in your country-ideally, we'd like to be able to cover foods sold in countries around the world so that no one has to miss out on good nutrition for their cats. Catsrang's All Life Stages food looks alright-corn appears pretty prominently on the ingredient list, which does raise some alarm, but it's the only really starchy ingredient on the list, so I'm going to guess that this food has moderate carbohydrate content and fairly high-quality ingredients. I'm not sure what other products are available to you (I'm assuming you're in Malaysia), but I would rank this as a moderately good dry food. It's not the best food you can buy, nor is it among the worst. Hope this helps at least a little bit!
@@AllAboutCatsYT Wow, thanks! Was really pondering about which cat food to buy, cause most of the products here have their prices raised, I tried finding products which had decent amount of protein in it with a good price range but wasn't really sure if it was good, you really cleared it up! Also love from Indonesia 😀
My kitties have been on a varied diet for a while-as long as it's high-moisture and meat-based, they are very often eating something that we're trying for a review.
Hello Hayley, excellent question! Here's the answer I gave to someone else who asked the same question: We calculated the dry matter nutrient values of these foods by looking at the guaranteed analysis on each one's label and then removed ash, fiber, and water from the equation to reach dry matter values. This makes it easier to compare wet products to dry foods and vice versa. Of course, these are not typical nutrient percentages and are a rough approximation of the food's actual nutrient distribution. Hope this answers your question!

now the thing is with Purina, or any cat food, it is the cat who is the judge. And my cat, no matter how hungry he is, will refuse point blank to eat 90% of the Purina range. And as for the other 10% he will sulk afterwards. So what are Purina putting in the food that a cat will react so resentfully ??? we need to get to the bottom of this, any company that turns off its comments section is suspect in my opinion. admit it corporate sheep, its soylent green isn't it?

I had no clue how bad the friskies that I was feeding my cats really was and it was a big eye opener.
Would it be better to feed them canned salmon or tuna? Nutrition wise and price wise?
Thanks.
I feed my 3 cats purina beyond and I have seen no symptom's at all but let me know if I am not feeding them the right food.
the symptoms will come after years when they develop kidney issues/diabeters
Hello sunshine...Love the smile!
🐱💞
Been wondering though, has All About Cats got some unwanted phone calls from these reviewed brands over poor grade ratings?
But, we'll skip on that..thank you.
😯😌
On the otherhand, another useful product review!🐱🏆
Please do a review about Powercat. It's organic and Halal certified and I'm curious if this is a good brand for my cats. 😄 Thanks!
Also Mallory, you kinda remind me of Birdy, the British singer 🤭💖
Thank you for commenting, Anna! Adding Powercat to our list of potential topics to cover. Cheers!
MY cat vomits most Purina dry food BUT Beyond is like CRACK to my cats, they LOVEEEE Beyond Chicken and egg.
What food would you recommend for my cat (she is a ragdoll) as she seems to be a little underweight around 8 pounds ideal weight is around 10 pounds. She eats royal Canin, even though it is expensive she doesn't seem to gain weight. I am thinking of slowly changing her dry and wet food over to another brand. Just don't know which one.
Hi Kazel, are you sure that your cat is underweight? Check this body composition chart to determine if your kitty is indeed too thin: allaboutcats.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/BCC-Resized-1.jpg
If she is indeed underweight, I would recommend trying any of the options on our list of the best cat food for weight gain: allaboutcats.com/best-cat-food-weight-gain
Hope this helps!
@@AllAboutCatsYT Thank you so much for your reply. I think my cat is at stage 4 slightly underweight. Would other options such as Authority chicken pate and solid gold chicken and liver pate be a good option?
What brand would you recommend for wet kitten food. I trust you due to your experience with the two cats that you have.
Hi Lilly, you'll find recommendations in our video on the best kitten food: ua-cam.com/video/Gn6WkhGeQwc/v-deo.html

Hello Mallory, Have you bought Catnip bubbles for your Sweeties?
Yes! They didn't really like them!
I would to try them on Munch, MY Adopted Boy Munch.
Can you do a review of Purina Friskies, especially the pate and extra gravy pate lines?
Hi Tatiana, we plan to! Thank you.
@@AllAboutCatsYT would love to hear on friskies. My cat seems to love it.
I’m curious as to what camera u use to record. Is it capable of 4K?
Hello there. Our videos are recorded on a Fujifilm XT30, which is capable of recording videos in 4K.
Any advice?
If you have amazon prime you can purchase tiki cat, inception, and instinct natures variety cat food which are all decent brands.
@@keikothecat5568I don’t have amazon prime even amazon doesn’t ship cat food to my country. I can get alot of other things like toys and accessories but not food. I must have a us address for them to ship food for me.
Can you review Ultima affinity please
Hi Essam, thank you for commenting! We'll consider reviewing it.
Can you do a review on FirstMate cat food please 🙏🏼
Thank you! ❤
Hey! Thanks for the comment. We'll consider it, but for now, here's my written review of the brand: cats.com/first-mate-cat-food-review
@@AllAboutCatsYT thank you! Greatly appreciated!
so what is the best cat wet food
How do you get 41% protein if the bag says minimum 35% protein??
@@katehuffman2252 Thanks that's good to know, how does she know the maximum? A bunch of complicated math? Lol
@@AllAboutCatsYT Thank you
Would you be able to do a review on pure balance cat food? Thank you :)

Could you Please review Bobby Flays cat food?
We will soon!
Can you do a review on catsrang all life stages? My country has none of the best dry food you recommended lmao, trying to find an alternative
Also love from Indonesia 😀
china heck no. my cats will not be trying anything purina. thank you for the important report.
May I ask if this video is sponsored or not? Because Purina has always been one of the brands we've been warned about.
This video has not been sponsored.
Could you cover IAMS
We plan to! Thanks!
What do you feed your cats?
My kitties have been on a varied diet for a while-as long as it's high-moisture and meat-based, they are very often eating something that we're trying for a review.
@@AllAboutCatsYT If I decide to feed my cat a scrambled egg should this be a once a week thing?
How do you figure out the dry matter basis on cat foods?
Hello Hayley, excellent question! Here's the answer I gave to someone else who asked the same question: We calculated the dry matter nutrient values of these foods by looking at the guaranteed analysis on each one's label and then removed ash, fiber, and water from the equation to reach dry matter values. This makes it easier to compare wet products to dry foods and vice versa. Of course, these are not typical nutrient percentages and are a rough approximation of the food's actual nutrient distribution. Hope this answers your question!
Mallory 😘
I will not buy Cat food from China! I try my best to Check the Ingredients. I Especially look out for Carrageenan,
Can you do review about n&d and concept for life those are the only foods that my cats eat 💕😘💞💖😍🐾🐾😻💘💝💗💗💓And they are the high cuality cat food😻
Hello there! We have received a lot of questions about Farmina N&D, so we're certainly considering it for an upcoming review. I'll also add Concept for Life to our list. For now, here's our review of Farmina: allaboutcats.com/farmina-cat-food-review
@@AllAboutCatsYT thanks stay safe and healty 💕 💖 💘 💝 😘 😍 💞
now the thing is with Purina, or any cat food, it is the cat who is the judge.
Now before I make a comment : remember this is MY opinion & I have the most pickiest diva male Scottish fold . When I 1st got him I started on Halo - garbage - then I moved to Weruva- garbage -then I went to blue buffalo - it's ok - then I ended up with Wellness Core - it's good - I have tried everything at Petco & PetSmart ; I then moved to Stella & Chewy Raw& pouches & Feline Natural New Zealand Chicken & Lamb - amazing - also EXPENSIVE . So ask yourself : DO U ❤️your cat: THEN NEVER GIVE IT ANYTHING PURINA. Or ANYTHING FROM A SUPERMARKET. Peace. What up Mallory :-)
Thanks for the comment!
I tried that beyond once, both wet and dry . What a waste of a big amount because they don’t carry very small bags and my cat wouldn’t have the first bite! I tried it 3 times, no luck. I wasn’t able to return it. All the recalls should be a big red flag 🚩
Not approved by AAFCO? I'm not buying it.
It looks like they meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO, as per Purina's website
Hi, I'm not sure how you got the impression that Purina Beyond foods don't meet AAFCO standards-perhaps you were looking at the food in the pouch shown near the beginning of the video. That was a food topper/treat. Hope it wasn't misleading to show it!
So this is kind of bad , carbs....went from Hilks Science...now this isn't too.good..likes chicken not the fishy ones...
Which one ?
Purina is owned by Nestle which is reason enough not to buy Purina pet food.
I feed my cat on beyond guest what my cat went very sick in July and that was the cause of it , didn't make a recall not al all now for my it cost me a fortune to save my cat and I will never trust Purina again
My moggie is vomiting and has diarrhoea from all vet recommended dry foods and grain free. I'm at a loss why. 😔🤮💩 Poor Pwahzy.
Hi Amy, that's frustrating. Hope you've found an alternative that suits her GI tract a bit better.
By peoducts
I'd be scared it might give my kitten diarrhea or that he might not even eat it
Mysterious meat
And they have an organic line😂
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL F*** PURINA MY CAT HATES IT!!!
Everything she recommends is expensive
As soon as you read "MEAL" like chicken MEAL, or any other meat, stay away from that! Miss, you should study a bit more before giving bad advice!
I would NEVER buy this food.
