I can not live in a single block high as it affects the camera view and causes claustrophobia. Slanted roofs are my choice to elevate and keep the basic structure simple since I'm moving in 3 days anyway to a more resource-rich environment (Iron). This is a nice-looking build with good tips.
If you find yourself unhappy with both one or two walls height you can also use the fence foundation trick which allows you to get a height of one and a half wall. Give it a try if you want. Its great for smaller bases, the perfect middle ground between the feelings of a bunker or a palace room made out of sandstone.
We take great pride in our boxes! Lol Mine usually resemble AOE barracks. But if you want to have animal pen, wheel of pain, stable, etc… you will need to build a village or a castle
is not noob build. Is more practique, need less resources and you can build inside as you like. In vídeo "example", use cheat infinite resources. But normal persons, need go for resources.
I did this build but changed the part where you added that thing above the door. i instead added a door there and a deck. switched the entrance door to that long part on the left , love it better with that change. for me of course. thanks for the video.
Those "noob" boxes are very common in Desert regions because they work as shelter and deal with the desert heat far better than the Thatched High roof building you made in the video which would be best suit to European and Nordic regions. great build though Now it were made of other material like more modern corrugated iron, the box would not work as it retain heat, with the sandstone or mud huts that is not a issue, so flat tops work and work well for low material consumption and better cooling, I have not tested the game out for this but it would not surprise me if the devs factored this in for a Norse build to work best in the cold and the box build to be poor shelter in the cold, I use the boxes as it allows me to make towers for watching beyond my walls or Farms, where the plants are the main reason the build exists.
You can't really say this is a beginner base (targetting beginners) when you do it in creative mode lol... This build would take a ton of resources as a beginner.
No, not really. The base in this video requires 2113 stone, 375 wood, 247 fibers, 84 branch and 6 twine. You can easily farm such an amount of ressources in 1 hour. For example, a basic 4x4 cube base ( 2 walls high) needs 1472 stone, 249 wood and 5 twine. So all in all you need probably 10 minutes of additional ressource-farming to build a aesthetically pleasing starter base.
Still trying to manage levels, build time, resources, thralls, pets and more. If I build on noob river, I have to remind myself it is temporary, nothing fancy. An animal pen and stable are OK; a surrounding wall is also not necessary as this base is not going to be purged. My time is better spent *starting* a secondary or main base at my chosen final location by level 30, north of the desert is too risky this early. I may place a wheel of pain (4 thralls) at the first base and a second wheel at the secondary base. If I skip noob river, the secondary base still need only be sandstone. As soon as I start building Tier II foundations, etc. That is where the purge hits. That base is typically larger. FYI my last two playthroughs have been purged by Cultists, on the first purge. The first time I tried to defend with Teimos, Tessa (IIRC) and a Greater Shaleback. They all died. The second time I locked my thralls and pets behind the gate and defended by myself. I chose some hit and run tactics to isolate fewer cultists, died once, and the rest didn't know how to get to the gate... typical AI. They gathered around the side of my base, which was inaccessible. There was only one wave because at around level 30-40 my armor and weapons were still basic. All I had to do was run out the timer. The cultists did a little damage but never broke through. I also disassembled the stairs that led up to the gate.
You are right I should connected it with the main house, I just didn't think about it during construction. But you can use that backroom as a small additional storage, or place a small furnace in it
Boxes are space efficient, that's the sad truth. Even learning all these building tricks I'm often wishing I could just spare the headache and build a massive work warehouse again.
Funcom didnt help with all those monster T3 workbenches... If you play with mods, i recommend Perfect Little Somethings. It adds tiny workbenches which allow you to focus on the aesthetics of your base.
i would like small house that looks cozy inside while does have all stations in rooms. because i dont like to place every working station in a big open place since i like to have home instead of a work place/ magazine... its alot of work to place so many working stations these days after updates.. its too much to pack all of those into small cozy, rp like house..
I personally build ceilings 2 tiles high. it's just too low with one. No idea why the devs thought that was a good idea. Even small studio that made Valheim before they become successful figured out that mistake. Hopefully the conan devs update a lot of tiles with the extra height like I think one of the arcane or insulated sets did with just one wall.
yeah I understand that rooms which are 2 walls high are more comfortable (especially if you play in 3rd person view) but that makes buildings with several levels very high and give them a weird look
Rooms with only one wall height are way too low for me. The camera gets squeezed on the char and its just too tight. But a height of two walls are often too much for starter bases, ruining their charm. What i like to do is the fence foundation trick which lets you get a height of one and a half wall. This is perfect for smaller bases. The rooms dont become too bloated but you also dont get the feeling of a miner. Anyways, great work! Sub for you :)
Well I often play in 1st person so I didn't experience such problems like the squeezed camera. But I understand that it could be problematic for guys who play in 3rd person
im right there with you thinking those cubes are cringe, but i never understood the point of "starter" bases. just run your happy ass north or wherever you want to live and build your one and only base.
Well having a starter base is actually part of my strategy when i'm playing the game in pve. After the start I build a simple T1 Base near some good resource spots (wood, stone, brimstone, animals for tar) and produce quickly a huge amount of hardened bricks, shaped wood and steel reinforcements. Then I tame a horse and move to the spot where I build my final T3 base.
Just don't build one tile high ceiling! Its not not realistic or functional because late game benches usually take x2 high space. Also one still needs at least 4x8 space to place most benches conveniently on the first floor.
Absolutely have grown to hate the building in this game. I have loved this game for a while but the building has really been a stumper , you move so slow that you can't effectively build and its just become a huge drag.

way too small, minimun room size in conan exiles is 5x5 surrounded by 1x1 wall with an optional foundation block or pillar in between the walls; Now in harcore mode, every thing should be covered by 1x1 wall ( roof is optional ) and the beginner or sandstone base should have 8 furnaces, 4 carpenter tables, 4 blacksmits, 4 taneries, 4 small wheel of pain, 2 stables, the rest is 1, constant use of yellow lotus potion is recomended to switch builds, fast gaterer 4000 stone every 5 min, warrior you kill rocknoses in less than 10 hits, rogue or agility to run and climb faster this means you loot serpermeru city in less than 10 minutes includes the killing of one sorcerer and back to your base, once you hit 26 switch to warrior or strengh plus authority to farm obolus and buy top weapons

Sadly this doesn't work like you say, as long as it has 4 walls and a ceiling it's a home anywhere in the map.
I don't think he even plays this game😂@@JonanTS
I wish there was a flared thatch roof cap that looks like the roofs for the stable. I want to make light a Thai/khajit inspired house.
Why have a room on the outside? Are you running outside of the house to the small room whenever you need to?
Thank you for this!
Muy bueno, gracias por inspirarme, ya voy haciendo varias versiones de este diseño. gracias por el video!
How do you get that view on console?
i like to think im creative... but im here to learn and make my fort more interesting
I believe everyone of us is creative in it's own way. So don't worry and continue building :) (And feel free to take some inspiration from my videos)

i use to the block house style like that first one keep it simple now im puting more to it
all the thieves will like your build lol
Well, I played on PvE-server with a nice community, so thieves where not a thing to worry about.
i love the simple builds!!!!
How can you enter this free building mode right at the beginning?
The only issues I have with this is that the roof is 1 block high, and that it doesn't offer much room for base expansion .
Great music!
Inspirational! Very cool. It's amazing what you can do with those building pieces if you know. Thanks!
What do you recommend using the blocked off back room for?
