I also felt the same way with other classic beat 'em up platform games, like Battletoads, Batman, and my nemesis, TMNT (you had to tap the jump just right or you would fall through certain holes in the platforms).
Lol, NES games were so hard to beat. Me and my brother played this game sooo much from 1988-1991 and always died in the caves. Cool to see it get beat. Great memories playing this game.
Indeed. I had this game many, many years ago (after my older sister gave me her NES and games), and despite my best efforts, I could never get past the cave part of Level 3.

I used to get up to the brick wall stage without losing any lives and then be at the mercy of what I thought to be randomly generated blocks coming out. Seems here Arek has sussed the pattern! Wait for the bottom left brick to pop out twice in a row followed by the upper far left brick then make a run for it. What a belter! Now I know... like 25 years later:)
You know... When I complain about modern graphics... I actually think back to how awesome the NES was. Early PC too... 90s FPS and late 90s car games... They're kinda the best for me.

I used to remember leveling up all hearts on the first level. It just took patience and not killing the bad guys so fast. Plus at the very end of the game if he timed it right he could've picked up the knife as the last bad guy is "blinking" on the ground and it would've turned into a bat. A glitch that came in pretty handy.
