    Prior to my surgery, it really helped me to hear surgeons remind us it’s normal to feel depressed or worried post surgery, to expect that feeling and not be worried about it when it arises. Indeed I did have some paranoia or fears post surgery and it was super helpful to revamp that is NORMAL and will pass. And it did!

      Yes! I cried and thought I had made a terrible mistake for the first two weeks. Once the worst of the swelling went down I loved it

      Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed learning about the facelift and eyelid recovery process. I hope my perspective as a facial plastic surgeon helps.

    Video suggestion: i would LOVE to see a direct brow lift, a neck lift, a mid face lift and lip lift (with no fillers) done on dr Kopelman. I bet the outcome would be excellent!

      Plastic surgeons seldom want procedures for themselves. For starters, they can't operate on themselves. And their own work is probably the only one they completely trust! Secondly, most of them are men and men feel and are viewed differently concerning aging. It is actually a badge of honor for a surgeon to look older.

    I find your content very enlightening and thank you for being practical and to the point. Many of your patients are likely post-menopausal. I wish you would discuss the differences and things to know about cosmetic procedures for 50+ women vs younger women. I'd like to know more about what is realistic for a face lift.

    • @dammar117
      @dammar117 5 місяців тому

      You raise an excellent point. People tend to conflate both types of motivations. The younger women seek to transform themselves, to change their natural features, whereas the older women usually only want to restore what they naturally had to begin with. And those are very different motivations. These are two sets of very different procedures. To restore is not the same as to transform. So, yes, I think you bring up a very valid point of discussion.
      As an example, I have a wide forehead, a very big nose, and other features that I've have always loved and owned and appreciated Even when I was just 16, I knew that I was unique and never wanted to transform myself. However, the aging process is destroying my natural self and my identity. This is why wanting a facelift is very different than wanting that a nose job, boob implants, lip filler, buccal fat removal, chin augmentation, all these procedures that the young woman are getting nowadays.

    One thing I notice about many post-op candidates, is just how critical and impatient they are regarding the healing. I have a massive surgical history, bilateral leg lift, brachioplasty, back lift, belt lipectomy, mastopexy, x2 breast augmentation, umbilicus removal, fleur de lys abdominal cutting, z-plasty under each armpit, and finally (phew) a deep plane face lift. All this after my massive willpower weight loss. (565 lbs) I was unfortunate - I had seromas, heamatomas, infections, including a heamatoma on my face after my facelift, causing a black brusing on face & neck. I am sharing because my biggest asset through all the challenges, was PATIENCE and letting my body heal, and RESPECT to the surgeons. Trust the process! Things are too instant in todays world. If a candidate has high ideals, they are not suited to plastic/reconstruction surgery. 🇬🇧🇬🇧

    Can you advise which is better treatment after a deep plane lift - lymphatic massage, red light or oxygen. Should you get all three??

    You said the surgery was a bit too quick for what she gad done...is that concerning?

    • @drkopelman
      @drkopelman  4 місяці тому +1

      These surgeries take a very long time. It sounded like in her case the surgery was done in a very short period of time. But it’s also possible because of the anesthesia she doesn’t remember the timeline of how long she actually had surgery.

  • @TRguy64
    @TRguy64 Рік тому +2

    Yes, seems a bit too short on time frame she had been in surgery, I'm having the same procedures done with the addition of brow lift and was told to expect six hours.

    • @drkopelman
      @drkopelman  Рік тому +2

      That is about the amount of time I spend on 1 patient when I do a facelift and eyelid surgery on the same day. (5-7 hours) is needed.

      @@drkopelman Being male, my concern is of course for a natural masculine look, especially about the eyes and for scaring to later become as undetectable as possible ... because yes, I'm confident I'm gonna be razzed and even mocked by some ... though, such will not deter me from going forward with surgery! I have discussed with the doctor that I want all zones addressed so as not to end up looking only a few mere years younger as I've noted in many male facelifts where deep creases at the corner of the eyes have not been addressed and nor has a needed brow lift been performed, I think males are possibly more likely to cherry pick their procedures.

    Dr. Kopelman, what do you think about Dr. Karam's Vertical Restore Facelift versus the SMAS or Deep Plane? Also, is it okay to get an upper and lower bleph first, then havea facelift a year or two later? In Dr Karam's videos, he does all the procedures at the same time including a fat transfer, but it seems like too many procedures would be risky.

    • @drkopelman
      @drkopelman  11 місяців тому +8

      There are many surgeons that name their "propriety" facelift something different to make it sound like they are giving you something unique but most of the time it is the same procedures mentioned but renamed . I am a believer that sometimes it is better to perform blepharoplasties on a different day. I believe that performing a facelift , browlift and eyelid surgery on the same day can last many hours therefore sometimes the surgeon's focus is not sustained and the eyelid surgery results or facelift results can be compromised.

    Question: I had a face/neck/temple lift 4 weeks ago. No complaints except the sight in my left eye is definitely screwed up. My surgery was over 4 hours and immediately after I had a hard time closing my left eye, it’s still different from the right. I’m wondering if my left eye was partially open during the surgery? And if my cornea may be damaged?

    She's going to miss some of that swelling. I had a mini and the swelling after a month looked great. I took a pic so I could get filler to mimic the swell.😮

    I also have a big forehead but wants a brow lift done. What are your thoughts on hairline lowering/forehead reduction with brow lift? Thanks!

    • @drkopelman
      @drkopelman  7 місяців тому

      It is difficult to lower your hairline because there isn't too much play in the scalp. If you are contemplating a brow lift then I would recommend a gliding brow lift over other techniques because it won't raise your hairline further

    • @drkopelman
      @drkopelman  7 місяців тому +1

      In addition sometimes a hair transplant can lower your hairline which will give the impression that you don't have a high forehead

    I am an Asian, i had my upper eyelid down several years ago, but it is getting loose. I am looking for a place to redo it, and what i am concern is the shape of the upper eyelid is quite different betweeen Asian and western ppl.

      Internal "Asian" eyelid anatomy and "western" eyelid anatomy is markedly different. My recommendation is to seek out a surgeon who has extensive experience treating Asian people

      Because society treats older women differently than it does older men. It's economics, power and love. Older women are seen as less competent, less smart, less attractive.

      because she either married a guy who has wealth and she needs to keep the looks or gets replaced by a younger model OR because she has the funds and just wants to do this which will help her get a boyfriend/husband given that men have unrealistic expectations about how women are suppossed to look and literally don't even look at women who arent snatched (older women)
