    Interesting.... this has been my "secret sauce" tuning since the late 1970s, although I never used any kind of pitch measuring device other than my own ears and the open "A" string on a tuned guitar as a reference pitch. I figured this out all on my own. It wasn't a tip I picked up from somewhere else. It was the result of my trying gazillions of different pitch combinations on top and bottom heads, and this was the one that sounded the best. Anyway, you got it, and I totally approve! I guess the secret's out now...

    Another big worship drummer mentioned that you want the reso head of the snare to be TTT, Table top tight. I cannot wait to get my tunebot in and get this worship drum set tuned up to the best they have ever heard. The church I joined last year has never had a dedicated drummer for being as big as they are, and I have finally pulled out their maple Gretsch drumset they had sitting in storage. Ordered all new heads and the tunebot. Thank you for these vids!

    You also have a really deep snare 14 x 8 so that contributes to the sound.

      Totally agree, that’s why this tuning is designed for bigger shell drums like 14x8

    Greetings, could you share the tuning frequencies with me? We have a 6-piece Ludwing evolution drum set. 10, 12 tom and flower tom, 14, 16, plus snare and 22”. What would be a good tuning for the ship? Could you send me the top and bottom head frequencies for each drum?

    I have 14" x 5.5" Poplar Shell snare and my tuning is currently 360Hz and it seems really tight, it's a lot yet to 400, Im affraid to broke the shell...I barely can turn the key already. Is it safe for the wooden drum?

    Just a quick question; when you did the bottom with snare, did you put the snares off?

    • @kevintoews5656
      @kevintoews5656 8 місяців тому

      Yes, when you tune the reso, throw the snares off. Put your stick under the wires from rim to rim to keep the snares wires off of your head.

    • @Theryanprim
      @Theryanprim  8 місяців тому

      Yes I recommend turning the snare wires off, and then put a towel or something to dampen the batter head side and then you can hear the resonant side pitches more clearly

      Make sure the opposite head is not active. Lay it down on a pillow or something. Put a very small piece of moongell or lightly touch the center of your drum head. You’re hearing overtones. Sometimes helps to use a mallet instead of a stick.

    Why do gospel drummer’s tune to a thud. If you didn’t have 30 or 40 strand wires it would sound like a tom. You’re almost an octave variation between heads. Then deaden it with a ring. PLEASE don’t think I’m criticizing just trying to know why?

    • @Theryanprim
      @Theryanprim  2 роки тому +4

      This is the modern sound for gospel style worship music that a lot of the drummers use.
