  • A recently released artificial intelligence app is trained on a private database of Church documents. Organizers say it could be a powerful tool for evangelization. Magisterium AI could help answer questions from the faithful. It also could help a priest or deacon with writing a homily. Right now it is set to ask and receive responses in several languages and the advisory board includes the rector of one of the Vatican departments which is contributing resources. Founder and CEO of Longbeard, which developed Magisterium AI, Matthew Sanders, joins to explain the new app and how it is similar to ChatGPT. There's no denying the AI boom across several industries, but the Catholic Church seems like an interesting sector for this technology. Sanders discusses what inspired him to undertake this project and how the project was formed by his previous work at the Archdiocese of Toronto in Canada. He tells us in what specific areas he sees Magisterium AI making an impact within the Church. Sanders shares Magisterium's potential impact on clarifying the Church's doctrine and stances on key issues such as gender identity, sexuality and war.
