I just can't imagine a parent being against their child becoming a priest or nun. For me I would make a huge party and invite all my friends and neighbors celebrating my son becoming a priest! That is the ultimate best choice ever!
I would be happy to have a son that becomes a priest, but I do understand the shock of those parents who have resistance to the idea.... don’t criticize them!!! Pray for them...

If you had dreams of your child being married, and having grandchildren and even great-grands if you lived to see them? Similar thing if your child is called to be a lay missionary... it does take a bit of grieving and letting go of one's dreams as a parent. Which is true for several scenarios.
For a long time, in large families one son. would be chosen for the priesthood and one daughter for the convent. It was a terrible idea because one needs to want the religious life and to have a calling to it.
I don't know about that. No grandchildren? That's fine if you have multiple children but if you only have the one that child better give you grandkids. Otherwise your bloodline is ultimately a failure in the eyes of evolution and nature.

Since then, I have been thinking about becoming a Priest and what His calling is for me. Now I see Br. Casey and how he has become a Friar and closer to God makes me realize that I can do it too.

My uncle was OFM, and my husbands uncle is a retired parish priest . It has been the coolest experience to be baptized by my uncle, have my husbands uncle marry me and my husband, and baptize my sons. I don’t really “see” the collar on my uncle in law when he wears it . It’s just what he’s wearing . We do regular family stuff with my him. He can be stubborn and drive us crazy list like all the other family members 😂As for my uncle , brother Justin, he was a missionary . The hard part was letting go of him, so he could serve . When I was little I would miss him , but as I got older and went to Catholic high school, and hung out at the nuns , they were more like friends and mentors to me and among each other . It made sense . Blessings to you , and keep up the great work .
Both my sons played Mass and I thought for sure one would become a priest! They even loved serving at Mass. But, neither one did. Go figure! Your parents are wonderful. Love the kidding around. Reminds me of my parents.

We thank your parents for giving you to us. :) You're an asset to the Church communicating its message to young people. I'm a parent and if one of my sons told me he'd want to be a priest I'd secretly cry in joy, but also in a bit of sadness as I'd not have grandkids from him. But one of the greatest gifts a parent can give to Christ I think is to give up a son to religious life. It's both a sacrifice and great joy to continue the work of the apostles and shepherd the flock. I'd be proud and supportive.

I love the video- it just shows to many how normal you are. Your parents are so proud of you that mom definitely has to be demanding because in their eyes... you’re still their baby. There no age or limit. I see it in my brother who’s 19 yrs difference, I still see him as a kid & he wants me to always be serious & gets angry I’m still always playful 😂
