*Supporting Me* Arrangement by: Heigo Tani / Fumi Kumatani Lyrics by: Fumie Kumatani (translated by Shinobu Shindo) Vocals: Everett Bradley *Lyrics:* I'm gonna be desperate Never Lose... Hurry... Never Lose... Hurry I believe in my future, farewell to the shadow, It was my place to live, but now I need your hand. Lead me out with your light, I have breathed in, The disgusting air of darkness, but I never lose out to the pressure. Everything's just like, An illusion, I'll be losing you, before long. Never Lose... Hurry... Never Lose I never lose my confidence, I know you are supporting me, Supporting me... supporting me... I'll be losing you before long.
0:52 It really took me 20 years for me to realize that this song acts as a prelude to live and learn. The orchestral phrase is the same melody as the main guitar phrase from Live and Learn.
The way the nameplate of “T H E B I O L I Z A R D” slowly clicks in with a typewriter sound letter by letter is burned into my memory. It adds so much dread on top of this song’s already fantastic start, and it’s a shockingly good piece of sound design on its own
There’s such a darkness to this song that no other Sonic track can compare to. But honestly it really fits. The horror of project shadow and the idea of fighting a failed experiment you can barely call a living thing hooked up to life support, you can feel that disturbing aura in the background music alone. Easily my favorite track associated with Shadow.
I love the foreboding feeling that Shadow came into this fight knowing he was gonna die by the end of it all that the song presents. The Final story as a whole shifted the theme of the game from Eggman trying out this new crazy "take over the world" plan to Gerald's final attempts to destroy the world for him losing his granddaughter.
It might sound weird, but this song, as dark as it is, helps me to pray to God. I know it's not the common thing you'd do with a dark rock music from a sonic game, but sometimes i feel so overwhelmed by myself that these simple words "Lead me out with your light, i have breathed in the disgusting air of darkness, but i never loose out. I never lose my confidence. I know you were supporting me" just hit way deep lol
SA2 was about a revenge game carried out by Shadow and Gerald Robotnik, 2 people who lost everything because of a single mistake a soldier made. Shadow's memories were altered by Gerald so that when the time came, he wouldnt second guess his motives for revenge. The ONLY reason Shadow had a change of heart was because of what Amy said to Shadow triggering his real memories that Maria wanted Shadow to protect mankind as that was his purpose, despite the origin leading to his creation. SA2 was never about Shadow specifically, it was about loss and revenge and learning to let go of the past.
@@_Tzer If anything, 06 is about Mephiles/Solaris more than any of the three protagonists, seeing as everyone's stories revolve around the Solaris project. Shadow and Silver do have more lore than Sonic in this department though
Rasheed Rodriguez i like to think the original is shadows version since its dark and a bit depressing. the 3ds mix is sonic's version since you fight it as sonic this time, the vocals are clearer and the music sounds more upbeat. the forces version fits in with the theme of corruption and illusion caused by infinite
NrdGang957 when u listen to the “to the pressure” part in forces it’s sounds like a rock song lyric but when u listen to it here it sounds like it’s trying to tourment you
0:51: OMG I never noticed that it played a light motif of Live and Learn before! That’s incredible! And the placement is perfect. Literally as the lyrics are talking about escaping illusions and that “I’ll be losing you before long” foreshadowing Shadow’s death. My appreciation of this song grows ever time I hear it.
@@min2793To be considerate, Shadow did essentially lose his memories if you do count Heroes, temporarily "killing him" in terms of the original Shadow seen in SA2.
For those wondering why you went from a giant lizard to a small hedgehog...the reason is that the Biolizard grew continuously. Mammals stop growing after a certain point. Yes, there's also the fact that Gerald may have been inspired by the Hidden Palace Mural. Though I say that's the reason he chose a Hedgehog instead of say, a Fox.
Hidden palace and the mural in SA1 are 2 different temples. He probably learned of the echinda tribes, found the first temple and its mural of perfect chaos, and made the biolizard based on it, when it failed, he kept searching, found hidden palace and its mural of super sonic, and based shadow off of that. This is not my original thought, its from a reddit post i read recently. It sounds good to me tho
_"Its surfaces are designed to absorb attacks. It's invincible. As long as he's equipped with that red life support system, He's invincible."_ It was chilling hearing that from omochao as a child.
I remember that there was this rumor at my school that the final boss of SA2 was a thing called The Invincible. Some kids older brother claimed to have faced him once.never believed it, seeing as it didn't fit with the game. I was the first to reach the Biolizard and I couldn't believe my eyes. Then, Omochao's message came thru and it all clicked. I think that was my big "OH SHIT" moment as a kid.
@@DarkScherzo94 I think we should have a boss named exactly as that in a game, and have it ACTUALLY BE virtually invincible EDIT: By virtually invincible I mean virtually invincible in gameplay
@@pkmntrainerred4247 Maybe as a bonus boss referencing the Biolizard? Though I do wonder on how the player would beat it. Back then, I imagined it as a bigger version of the Big Foot GUN robot, but I dunno.
We've all hated Omochao, but the fact that even he was hopeless while trying to help you on that part is so fucking awesome. I want a game like this again, Sega.
Two 'brothers', the 'older brother' bound to its programming and determined to see the desires of its creator fulfilled, and the 'younger brother' realizing the error of their creator's ways and fighting for the sake of people most important to them. I guess you can call this sort of a successor to the Gamma vs Beta fight in SA1, though there are a lot of differences between the two.
I've seen other people saying that Shadow is the Gamma of SA2. Really makes me wish Gamma lived, too, that's one of my favorite characters. Omega just isn't the same.
@@maiselph7456 I don't think Omega is supposed to be another Gamma. I see them complete opposites. Gamma considered Eggman an enemy, but had no interest in stopping him, He just wanted to liberate his "brothers" from Eggman's cruelty. Once he was done, he liberated himself. Omega, also considered Eggman an enemy, but didn't give a damn about anything else. He had a one-track mind to witness Eggman's destruction. Though he grew to care about both Rouge and Shadow.
This theme represent how a intense boss fight should be thematically and narratively The Biolizard represent pessimism; it carries the false delusional will of Prof. Gerald, a tool of revenge. It doesn't have a will of its own it was engineer as a vessel of revenge, which syndicates Gerald's insanity of wanting revenge against humanity who took maria and his colleagues from him. He became nothing but a husk of his former self, only driven by anger, pain and despair. The Biolizard was a failed experiment not only because of the poor life system but it symbolize Gerald's failure. Shadow represent Optimism: He was created with a soul and he's the embodiment of Maria's dying will to protect humanity. He was seeking a purpose in his life; he thought he was carrying Gerald's wish, but instead his real purpose was to keep humanity happy even if they're against him. Shadow is a guardian, willing to fulfill maria's promise and everyone's wishes of a better tomorrow.
Man! Gerald Robotnik died a very pitiful man and it REALLY shows through Shadow's perspective, Maria's death, the monstrous Biolizard he created, and of course in this song. Sonic Team put a ton of work into this game's story. Best thing about this game is that fans and gamers discover more things in it. It just makes us all want to come back to this masterpiece of a game.
GOD I LOVE THIS TRACK IT’S SO HAUNTING AND REFLECTIVE OF SHADOW’S ARC AND THE LIVE AND LEARN MOTIF TOSSED IN THERE IS GENUIS AND THE BIOLIZARD FIGHT CREATES GREAT TENSION AND YOU KNOW THAT WHAT COMES AFTER IS A SONIC AND SHADOW TEAMUP SO THAT SENSE OF TRIUMPH IS STRENGTHENED EVEN MORE AS SHADOW’S REDEMPTION IS COMPLETE GOD I LOVE THIS TRACK
I kinda wish the person who did the vocals for this song as well as shadow’s other themes in the game ( Everett Bradley) did more music like this, because his voice along with the lyrics of the songs that appear in Shadow’s stages are always so edgy and cool and it’s a piece of my childhood I kinda want back.
Its funny, i searched up everett bradley and he has almost no recognition on youtube for anything else. Maybe because he's a live perforner? I dont mean to insult him but he doesnt seem famous at all. He has a personal website and his resume doesnt even list sonic adventure 2 on his body of work. I wonder how he feels knowing the only reason people know his name is from a sonic soundtrack
Honestly this is probably the closest sonic will ever get to a T or M rating without being shadow the hedgehog. Nobody realizes how unsettling and creepy this giant thing is. It’s unfinished, a prototype left to rot. The fact it has a lack of legs and eyes and just flops to the floor after it’s entrance as it shuffles it’s way to shadow in the fight adds on to the fact it needs a life support machine to even survive. And also it’s silent roar just sold it to me. I know this is probably unintentional, It’s voice box can’t even make noise unless it’s in pain (when you hit it).
Its a gory slasher boss and if it was made in present day graphics i couldnt see the game getting an E rating, which makes me wonder if they will attempt to put it in the movie
Thinking back now, yeah... SA2 was pretty intense. The story and levels become progressively hardcore. (And consider that there was a voice clip of Shadow crying out in agony as he burned up in the atmosphere... )
@@jamesjesse9773 What?! There was such a voice clip? Damn, I thought i know a lot about this game, but i didn't know about this voice line. This game is so old now, but i'm still learning new things about it, amazing.
Its hard to believe that the prototype of Shadow was the Biolizard, considering that they have literally nothing in common besides them both being a form of the ultimate life form created by Gerald. Shadow is a powerful, intelligent experiment that went right while the other is a flawed mindless animal.
Maybe it's because Shadow was able to be created with (spoilers for StH if you didn't know) Black Doom's DNA. And I think that the Biolizard might've been created before Gerald contacted the Black Comet. It was a prototype after all.
The lyrics feel like a message to Maria in my opinion. It’s Shadow fighting the representation of his previous wicked ideologies about planetary destruction, telling her that it feels like he’s slipping off the edge of reality, loosing himself and everything in the confusion that binds his mind and tangles him up. But he WILL destroy his disgusting excuse for a brother, and he won’t lose his confidence. Because the thought still emerges somewhere deep in his soul. “Maria... I know you’re supporting me.”
That was beautiful my dude, not to ruin the moment (if I have I'm sorry) but the Biolizard isn't technically Shadows brother as he wasn't made with Black Dooms blood like Shadow was.
Shadow was a true hero. Everything he did was all for Maria and nobody else. He isn't this edge lord everyone misinterprets him to be because of how selfless he is. I mean sure he tends to be condescending sometimes but his actions are heroic.
this is perfect synchronicity of a soundtrack with the gameplay: the start and buildup as the cutscene plays out, the bass drop as the player is given control, the muffled "im gonna be desperate" as the player starts moving both ways and realizes hes trapped the supporting guitar riff and erie melody come in as this ugly lizard starts trying to bite you, the fight's on the main lyrics come in as the player settles into the dance with the lizard the lizard pauses and gives a rail to grind as "to the pressure" becomes clear with the live and learn melody starts the main beat returns for another round of dancing with the lizard "i never loose my confidence" and "i know your supporting me" come forth as the player has grasped the tempo of the boss fight. thats why the track is so memorable, its paced perfectly for what your doing
Damn, that music reminds me of how I was terrified by this boss, and the whole final level. There really is something creepy about it, and I can't say why...
well in all honesty is kinda creepy and morbid, some prototype of something so powerful cooped up inside a space station for years surrounded by like..mucky water. it's too large to work in the way it was intended, and was abandoned like that.
It's the malice of the Professor Gerald, trying to get back at the world from beyond the grave with one of his inventions, I think. You have your regular 'rule the world' villainy of Eggman, and then it turns out all along he's been bumbling around on the surface of this latent doomsday device buried away in a time capsule, that he just happens to have unearthed. It's got a very 'ghost from the past coming back to haunt you' feel to it.
I’ll never forget my first run in with this monster. 2am on a school night, in a pitch black room I hit start on the final story and felt a overwhelming sense of determination and confidence. I forgot about being a kid, I forgot about egg man being a bad guy. I just saw Heroes making a final rush to save the world. Then I reached that room. I saw the shrine and remember gritting my teeth. Then the lizard showed up. I barely heard the door click open behind me as shadow came walking in. I felt like I was being watched but hearing the Bio-Lizard roar snapped my attention back to the screen. What followed was admittedly a silly but intense fight. At that point I was feeling the pressure to perform not only as shadow but as myself. I was scared.. scared of failing my at the times heroes and scared of turning around to see a disappointed and upset parental figure. After the fight was said and done I didn’t turn around. I settled in and pushed on to final hazard. Watching the pair go super filled me with renewed hope and then the theme kicked in. The fight was over pretty fast but the ending left me sad. That’s when I turned around to see an understanding grandfather then sat down with me and explained that sometimes being a hero is being willing to make a sacrifice. I’m glad my grandpa let me finish that fight, I’m glad he was there to explain these concepts to me, I’m glad he was there to support me.
My friend said this boss was epic. Can't blame him, It's a fight between two ultimate lifeforms, shadow had just turned back to the good side, this music is haunting and beautiful, symbolizing not only maria's spirit and shadow's link, but also the biolizards life support system which the player needs to attack. And the boss is long and not cheap by any stretch of the imagination.
You are right, man I tell you, *SEGA* 's community is so smart, I mean, it didn't take me long to figure out the control inputs for the Xbox 360, didn't take me long to figure out the super bounce, and I know what causes the super bounce: The Super Bounce is caused by spindashing into the wall and right before you touch the wall, you jump and very quickly use the Bounce Attack, then your Speed Momentum gets turned into your Jump Momentum, which causes you to bounce very high, that is called the "Super Bounce". Your welcome for the explanation.
the part at 0:52 always gives me chills bro... such weird and mysterious chord progression going on but not long enough for you to really make out where its going exactly
Everytime I hear that it makes me feel a mix of emotions like I’d say it makes me feel sadness as a base emotional response, but it’s more than that kind of wish all the lyrics were sang like it.
@@WarVeteran213 I'm not even joking when I say this I thought this song was in a dmc game way before I got around to playing SA2, I was young and didn't really care to look up stuff like this. This song is a banger tho.
Shame this wasn’t played during the symphony event fir the 30th anniversary event. It’s a great piece of the ost, and is better than Live and Learn imo.
@@berryrose7600 @ 0:50 the orchestrated bit is the same notes of Live and Learn, you hear it more clearly in Generations as well: ua-cam.com/video/zQWvmyZhIA8/v-deo.html
Am I the only one who thinks the "lead me out with your light" line refers to the Biolizard wanting to die so it can be free of the immense pain it suffers from its physically stunted body and life support machines? (It could also just refer to Shadow turning from the dark side to the hero side, but I felt it had a deeper meaning if it's interpreted as the Biolizard's theme.)
@@JayAndSonicYTyou don't know that, yet. We'll see. I don't believe they brought Gerald back without having the Biolizard as a final boss. It'd be a terrible miss.
The drop at 0:24 gives me chills, it sounds so deep and it really fits the situation going on, it sounds like if falling down a endless tunnel was a sound
Most of the vocals in Shadow's levels are distorted and lack clarity, Supporting Me is the only track where it's possible to make out the lyrics which almost suggests the sense of clarity Shadow has at this point in the game.
This is one of the series' best music pieces, and one of the most darkest. It sets the atmosphere so well and the lyrics perfectly portray the envious nature of the biolizard towards shadow's creation. The final act of this game is just how i like the sonic series to be.
(intro) I'm gonna be desperate... (Never Lose... Hurry...) (Never Lose... Hurry...) I believe in my future, farewell to the shadow, It was my place to live, but now I need your hand! Lead me out with your light! I have breathed in The disgusting air of darkness, but I never lose out... ...To the pressure, everything's just like....... An illusion, I'll be losing you, before long....... (Never Lose... Hurry... Never Lose... Hurry... Never Lose... Hurry...) I never lose my confidence. (I know you are supporting me.....) (Supporting me........) SUPPORTING ME.........! (I'll be losing you before long......!)
One of the best tracks in the entire franchise. It genuinely sounds like the song itself is in actual agony. The song starts with what is basically an agonising scream, and then 0:52 happens and the song genuinely begins to feel like an overstimulated breakdown. I’ve never felt like a song wants me to put it out of its misery before. Masterpiece.
The way I see it is that breakdown has that leitmotif of live and learn, the lyrics are feelings shadow needs to process to become enlightened in this case super shadow. Even in the game if you take long enough on final hazard its revealed he hast trouble maintaining keeping his form and even questions if sonic is the true ultimate life form. Might be looking into it too much but the game can have a lot of layers in the way it tells its story and its amazing how much emphasis they added to this track, it really is shadow trying to break his shackles of his past wanting to not feel desperate again like he did when he lost his friend hence his false detached attitude.
This song is so haunting, especially when combined with the atmosphere of the Cannon’s Core and the Biolizard. The entirety of Shadow’s character is represented through the song and boss. This is the Shadow I love.
@@BigBoss549 I agree Shadow isn't supposed to be an edge lord like some of the new games. Sure he is condescending sometimes but his actions are those of a hero's. He is willing to do anything to fulfill his promise to Maria and even Sonic sees this in the credits that Shadow was a hero.
2:08 This is definitely the sound of someone fighting the turmoil against themselves. You can practically feel that Shadow's on the edge with a head full of sad memories with Maria being the very thin thread that's holding him together.
The ‘disgusting air of darkness’ that Shadow ‘breathed in’ was because he thought Maria begged Shadow to take revenge on humanity, but she didn’t want that at all. What Maria actually said was to help everyone on earth and to give them a chance to be happy, so then he rushes off to the cannon’s core to catch up with Sonic and Knuckles who make their way to the shrine, but the Bio Lizard warps out of Chaos Control and blocks their path. Shadow arrives to provide a distraction, to give Sonic & Knuckles time to head to the shrine. As ‘farewell to the shadow, Shadow must battle the Bio Lizard with Maria’s light leading him out, as in the words ‘Lead me out with your light’.
The Biolizard creeped me the hell out as a child. Heck “it” still does considering it’s backstory of being a failed experiment, barely clinging to life due to the life support on it’s back. And purely being a pawn for Gerald’s vengeance against humanity. Just an means to an end, easily discarded after it’s fulfilled it’s final purpose. Edit: Thanks a lot for all the likes! I come back to this video every now and then to listen to this unsettling yet amazing soundtrack.
this songs garbled unclear lyrics, distorted dark, grimy eerie vibes combined with the dark lighting of this stage make the Biolizard seem even more unsettling and disorienting than it already is. I love this theme
I really see this song’s name as a 2 way thing. On one hand it’s Shadow singing about how his current allies and those closest to him are supporting him..but also Biolizard is on life support so the ship is supporting Biolizard. So it’s a matter of support from a living being and support from a machine.
Its so sad to think about how they made shadow die in the last sonic game on the last Sega console. Sometimes I wonder if they intended to go out with a bang, knowing this might be the last sonic related game they ever get to make. This story is dark and the characterization is top notch; I feel like shadow was a great way to finish off the franchise, if it had been the end. Whenever I listen to this song that comes to mind, it gives me chills "I'll be losing you before long".
But Shadow didn't die in the end. He survived due to one of Eggman's robots saving him, Rouge found him in a stasis pod in one of Eggman's bases at the start of Heroes. Shadow's game confirms that its the real Shadow we've been playing as and not an android copy if you hang around long enough during the final battle and listen to Eggman.
This song has a completely different meaning to me than it does to most of you, at least as of today. Thanks to someone I met today, I've decided to finally take initiative for once in my life and do something for myself. This is what came on, as I headed home. I'm done waiting for things to get better for me. I'm done sitting around. It's time to do something about it.
Honestly, i don't know exactly what you've been through, but just this comment gives me a hunch that you and i have been through similar things And i totally agree, it's better to act than to sit around, so much better than rotting in place...
This boss fight still to this day gives me chills. There is something about all of it that gets to me. Shadow’s redemption arc, the fact that the boss of the final stage is saved specifically to be shadow’s part in stopping the disaster helps make shadow feel powerful, the way this song reflect’s shadow’s inner struggles and conflicts, and his resolutions… it’s great.
Damn, comparing this game's Story, Voice acting and writing to Colors, Gens, Lost World and Forces really shows how much Critics and "fans" Scared Sega's butt to a point where they just started to make Sonic more and more kid friendly instead of Family friendly like it used to be. People were praising Colors for Returning to "roots" of the classic games back then when it comes to Writing and tone but like, did they forgot the manuels for the classic games? I'd even argue that Sonic 3 had more darker and complex tone then the entire 2010's era of Sonic ffs. I swear, if Frontiers doesn't have a complex story and good writing like the Adventure games or Sonic 3, then I'll riot fr. Don't let us down Ian.
By nostalgia rule, the genesis era kids were the ones with money and demanded it returned to that era. Now it's the dreamcast era that feels nostalgia. Frankly I was a bit torn between the two, I knew Sonic's story would stop mattering too much about narrative progression if they refused to age the characters to leave them as atemporal mascots. But after seeing what they did to Shadow in Sonic Boom my mind was set, such a disappointing flanderization. The movies have the chance to retell the story even better than the SA2 did, I hope they don't waste it.
I"d know so many people would argue it (because Sonic's fanbase is a complete clusterfuck of every opinion all at once and everything that isn't that specific fan's opinion is trash) But if Sonic Team just.....Just went back to this stuff. Just a fun Eggman Taking over the world plot only to have it shadowed by this Lovecraftian cataclysmic event that he just played into and everyone teams up to stop the actual very serious threat. Along with the gameplay just being a simple speed-focused platformer. I think that'd go over well across the board. I mean....We know it works already. Its why a strong portion of that fanbase likes SA2.
I hope bringing in Ian Flynn does wonders for Frontiers' writing. I honest to god don't know HOW Pontac and Graff stayed as Writers for almost a decade when they clearly, and bluntly have admitted, to not knowing a damn thing about Sonic. I know the 2000s games are a mixed bag, but I liked the tone of most of those Games over anything in the 2010s/Meta Era, and I largely blame Colors for creating a problem we didn't need.
If the Biolizard is in the Sonic 3 movie I hope they go with the amount of detail of making him look absolutely terrifying and most of all, DISGUSTING Like with the details in SXSG
The stage and theme always gave me an unsettling feeling as a kid and never understood why, but now that I'm older and finally understand how deep the story is I now see why it was so unsettling.
Something cool about this song is how in the level themes for Shadow, as well as his character theme and debatably his boss theme For True Story, is that Shadow at this point fully remembers his past and can disregard his doubts which is why it’s so much clearer. Compare the vocals here to the ones in his last stage, The Supernatural, where they’re so scrambled and drowned out in places that I’ve seen many surprised there’s even lyrics for some parts of the song. There’s only one line that’s kinda quiet at the tail end of the song, “I’ll be losing you before long”, which I think is him accepting that he’ll most likely die by the end of the fight (not so much the boss but just stopping the Ark from falling) but chooses to press on and save the day since that’s what Maria wanted. It’s a nice end to his character arc in SA2, and a surprisingly uplifting message despite the dark tone of the song. It’s also an insane banger of a boss theme so that also helps.
Ok so the distortion here imo could be considered that even with shadow now back to his senses the previous vocal track Throw it All away was clear at parts but here the distortion doesn't dissapear much at all. like an illusion from what gerald did to Shadow after Maria's death.
Everytime I hear this excellent soundtrack, I feel the atmosphere of Shadow doing this for Maria. Even though Maria has sadly passed away, Shadow still knows that she is supporting him to fight for the Light, no matter what the consequences. From 2:00 to the end of the song, I really feel the chills
It's kind of scary to think that the Biolizard was up in the ARK during the duration of the Classic Sonic games. And it's so epic that Shadow gets to bookend the SEGA console era of Sonic games.
this song rules....everything from the awesome guitar sound the dreary lyrics and tone of evertt bradley's voice to that haunting synth melody....ultimate
歌詞と和訳です。 I'm gonna be desperate, Never lose, hurry, never lose, hurry. I believe in my future, farewell to the shadow, It was my place to live, but now I need your hand. Lead me out with your light, I have breathed in, The disgusting air of darkness, but I never lose out. To the pressure, everything's just like, An illusion, I'll be losing you, before long... I never lose my confidence, I know you were supporting me, Supporting me, supporting me, I'll be losing you before long.
This song is an encapsulation of desperation, maybe even hope. The ARK is slowly falling out of orbit and will crash into the Earth in mere minutes, there is no time to waste. Amy notices that Shadow is not helping any of the others because his mission he was supposed to carry out has been accomplished. Now the world will feel how Dr. Gerald Robotnik felt when he heard about the tragedy of his granddaughter, Maria. Amy reminds him that Maria’s wish was not to avenge her, she only wanted humans to have a chance to be happy. Shadow then remembers what Maria’s final words to him were: ”Give them a chance to be happy...” Shadow is now going to go and fulfill Maria’s wish and scampers to go and help Sonic and Knuckles as they make their way to the core of the ARK. As Sonic and Knuckles make their way to the core, the Prototype of the Ultimate Life Form appears out of thin air. Shadow arrives in time to stop the Biolizard. The ARK is just a couple of minutes away from entering the atmosphere before it's too late. The world is at stake and two hedgehogs are the only ones who will prevent that from happening. There is still hope.
As much as I like the distortion in Shadow's lyrical tracks because it fits his conflicted and confused nature, I wish that the words were a bit more intelligible. It's hard to appreciate just how good they are when I can't hear them.
@@anselmosolisjr7973 Oh, it sounds great, I love the effects. I just can't make out the words very well, and I think it might be a bit better if it was more understandable. But that's just my opinion.
Unpopular opinion; even after the Shadow Gens remix this is still the best version of the track (idk I just think the darker tone works better for fighting a giant lizard that's barely alive by the time you find it)
This song represents shadow this version is harder to hear and more melancholy then the shadow generations versions because he doesn’t 100% remember his past rn and also because he hasn’t gone through his character arc in shadow 05
I think Shadow must have been dissociating (from his feelings) so hard during this fight. I mean, he wakes up from a 50 year induced coma after losing everything (including his memories) in an extremely traumatic event, helps a familiar face activate a doomsday weapon in a misguided attempt at understanding his past identity (all while doubting himself, i'm pretty sure), gets several earth shattering revelations in the span of like one hour, realizes that what he is doing is the complete opposite of what he needed to do, and now this?! I can't even begin to imagine how he must be feeling, this is so fucked up on so many levels. Also depending on when he got frozen, Shadow could also still be the mental age of a teenager. (Also, personally i think the lyrics to the song are a mirror to what Shadow is feeling. I don't know who he would be singing to but it seems to fit either way.)
I always found the idea of the biolizard being shadow's failed "brother" just really creepy and this song doesn't help. they were both made by a madman that never allowed his granddaughter to experience what being on earth is like. people underestimate this game's story and just the game overall, it's really cool and i still would love to see what shadow's life with maria was really like to add depth to the idea of her getting killed. i love shadow and this game and its ost so much damn
@Bruno Ricardo dude's still a madman, but if that's true then excuse me for only playing the one good game with Maria in it because the disease isn't mentioned. lol
I'm gonna be desperate I believe in my future, farewell to the shadow It was my place to live, but now I need your hand Lead me out with your light, I have breathed in The disgusting air of darkness, but I will never lose out To the pressure, everything is like An illusion, I'll be losing you Before long I'll never lose my confidence I know you are supporting me... Supporting me... Supporting me... I'll be losing you before long
I honestly loved the fight it was so damn difficult especially for the final phase where you basically can take only two hits left (when you're stuck in the air like that, if you get hit, you lose all rings and CANNOT get them back. You HAVE to make that move count for that and it's tense as all hell)
Hot take: This is one of the best penultimate final boss themes in the series. I fucking love the breakdown with just the eery sounds and the lyrics. And the fact that this song literally suits the context in which Shadow is basically fighting his prototype.

I'm gonna be desperate
Never Lose... Hurry... Never Lose... Hurry
I believe in my future, farewell to the shadow,
It was my place to live, but now I need your hand.
Lead me out with your light, I have breathed in,
The disgusting air of darkness, but I never lose out to the pressure.
Everything's just like,
An illusion, I'll be losing you, before long.

I never lose my confidence,
I know you are supporting me,
Supporting me... supporting me...

"Everything's just like, an illusion." WOW that got deep.
0:52 It really took me 20 years for me to realize that this song acts as a prelude to live and learn. The orchestral phrase is the same melody as the main guitar phrase from Live and Learn.
Parts of this sounds like Westopolis as well
HOW TF DID I MISS THAT!?!
Bro you are so right!! I never realized this until you said it!
Add me to that list
add me also, how did I not notice that?
The way the nameplate of “T H E B I O L I Z A R D” slowly clicks in with a typewriter sound letter by letter is burned into my memory. It adds so much dread on top of this song’s already fantastic start, and it’s a shockingly good piece of sound design on its own
It feels as if you're looking at an old file of this ungodly experiment. As if even GUN said it should stay a secret
Yea but to me it's just really annoying because of how slow it is
With how stupidly hard I remember this boss being, I'm sure it is.
It's like the sound that plays when you fight bosses in Mega Man
The typewriter boss names is such a relic of those edgy times. Goddamn did i love it though
It gets too me so much after realizing the darkness of this game I mean I remember the story being really serious as a kid, but holy shit.
I like fully understanding games' meanings, just makes them that much more enjoyable. 😄
I additionally like to think of the Biolizard as Shadow's brother in a way
It might sound weird, but this song, as dark as it is, helps me to pray to God.
Man, I never learned to appreciate this song until now. I'm beginning to realize even more how much cool music has been in the Sonic series.
Yeah Men, Sonic adventure 2 bring me too much memories, i like the music too
Henry 13 ikr?
Fumie Kumatani was on fire for Sonic Adventure 2. Between the colourful jazzy tunes of Rouge and Shadow's tormented electronic tracks, wow.

And how he relates to shadow

@@_Tzer Lol, when the main character is worse x)

This theme represent how a intense boss fight should be thematically and narratively
The Biolizard represent pessimism; it carries the false delusional will of Prof.

Now Shadow past 06 is a joke to everyone. I still like him as my favorite character. They also ruined Tails and Knuckles too...

2:08
This is definitely the sound of someone fighting the turmoil against themselves.

That was a retcon. He was originally going to die
i read this now and cringe a lil but whatever, sad to think i was this bad even just a year ago im 25
this wasnt cringe but youre cringe for thinking it was@@bleak3304
This song has a completely different meaning to me than it does to most of you, at least as of today.
Thanks to someone I met today, I've decided to finally take initiative for once in my life and do something for myself. This is what came on, as I headed home.
I'm done waiting for things to get better for me. I'm done sitting around. It's time to do something about it.
Hope you can use this newfound motivation to do great things!
Honestly, i don't know exactly what you've been through, but just this comment gives me a hunch that you and i have been through similar things
And i totally agree, it's better to act than to sit around, so much better than rotting in place...
me trying to piece together something
Now start up final rush.
Man, this is why I loved Sonic all this years. This is what the meta era should been like. The shows how much passion was put into this game
Even sonic cd
We had bad futures
Metal sonic and all
@@hansraute3587 The entire Sonic CD US soundtrack is darker than 2010s Sonic.
I come from the future... and with me, I carry shocking news...

Aw yeah! Thanks for the info, future guy!

“We meet again…SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG!”
WHO'S READY FOR ANOTHER REMIX OF THIS IN SHADOW GENERATIONS!!!!!!
Who here is looking forward to hearing a fourth rendition of Supporting Me for Sonic X Shadow Generations?
The guitars 2:00 to 2:20 I could repeat that all day
Imo this song is so underrated its always gave me chills as a kid and it still does, the lyrics are so good and the boss fight is iconic.
It's kind of scary to think that the Biolizard was up in the ARK during the duration of the Classic Sonic games. And it's so epic that Shadow gets to bookend the SEGA console era of Sonic games.
I love that Live And Learn progression at 0:52

I'm gonna be desperate,
Never lose, hurry, never lose, hurry.
I believe in my future, farewell to the shadow,
It was my place to live, but now I need your hand.
Lead me out with your light, I have breathed in,
The disgusting air of darkness, but I never lose out.
To the pressure, everything's just like,
An illusion, I'll be losing you, before long...
I never lose my confidence,
I know you were supporting me,
Supporting me, supporting me,
I'll be losing you before long.

Well if you really think about it, shadow is killing his terminally ill brother.
Oh no! Not another one!
Terminally Ill sister I think. I'm pretty sure biolizard was female.
This song is beautifully well crafted
One of the best Sonic songs of all time.
There is still hope.
k
As much as I like the distortion in Shadow's lyrical tracks because it fits his conflicted and confused nature, I wish that the words were a bit more intelligible. It's hard to appreciate just how good they are when I can't hear them.
To me it actually makes it sound good for some reason.
@@anselmosolisjr7973 Oh, it sounds great, I love the effects. I just can't make out the words very well, and I think it might be a bit better if it was more understandable. But that's just my opinion.
that’s the point
That's a fair point. Especially Final Chase.
The words are less distorted in both official remixes.
We know why we're here again.
YEEEEEEEESS
♪To the pressure, everything's just like. An illusion, I'll be losing you, before long♪
Unpopular opinion; even after the Shadow Gens remix this is still the best version of the track (idk I just think the darker tone works better for fighting a giant lizard that's barely alive by the time you find it)
This song represents shadow this version is harder to hear and more melancholy then the shadow generations versions because he doesn’t 100% remember his past rn and also because he hasn’t gone through his character arc in shadow 05
Also i think this version just fits the context really well. Things are dire as is, and this half-alive lizard doesn't help at all.
Biolizard and FinalHazard are without a doubt the sickest boss names I've ever seen.
We heard that new remix didn’t we?
That concept art... Dude, if Biolizard will be on the third movie they better put this soundtrack if Shadow fights him
I always found the idea of the biolizard being shadow's failed "brother" just really creepy and this song doesn't help. they were both made by a madman that never allowed his granddaughter to experience what being on earth is like. people underestimate this game's story and just the game overall, it's really cool and i still would love to see what shadow's life with maria was really like to add depth to the idea of her getting killed. i love shadow and this game and its ost so much damn
@Bruno Ricardo dude's still a madman, but if that's true then excuse me for only playing the one good game with Maria in it because the disease isn't mentioned. lol
@Bruno Ricardo i thought maria's disease was only a thing in Sonic X

I honestly loved the fight it was so damn difficult especially for the final phase where you basically can take only two hits left (when you're stuck in the air like that, if you get hit, you lose all rings and CANNOT get them back. You HAVE to make that move count for that and it's tense as all hell)
Hot take: This is one of the best penultimate final boss themes in the series. I fucking love the breakdown with just the eery sounds and the lyrics. And the fact that this song literally suits the context in which Shadow is basically fighting his prototype.
I love the fact that The Biolizard is actually Gerald's mindset: chaos, destruction, rage. While Shadow represents Maria's wish of freedom and life
