Shadow's music tracks - the ones with lyrics, that is - were an enigma to me. I liked the rhythm, but out of the speaker of the CRT TV we used to have to play these games, it was too quiet to even begin to make sense of what was being spoken. Specifically, this theme was just kind of there for me, and I think if I would have been able to hear more of it, I would have liked it back then. As time went on, I noticed this theme got overshadowed in discussion of SA2 music, which is what ultimately fueled my hype when I saw that it was being remade here. And, indeed, with a coat of metal and a boost in quality, I can say I'm a fan of the song. Still can't understand the lyrics... But I don't care about that so much anymore (I mean, one of my favorite bands is Dragonforce, for Pete's sake)
I feel one of the points of the song is to not hear the lyrics well. It fits shadow is SA2 as he too was a enigma. Sure NOW we know hes just... misunderstood or just a edgehog depending on the writer, but we didnt know back then.
I think they come out clearer in the 3ds version. I prefer it, but I also like the remixes where they keep it this level of obscurity or even further obfuscate the vocals.

"You were supporting me" I think the lyrics are about Shadow's relationship with Maria, how there strong family bond is giving him strength and clarity, even during an extremely urgent situation.
I always so this theme as the reflection of Shadow's mental state at the time. He just achieved clarity and got unshackled from the false memories Gerald instilled in him so he's a bit shaken and he's full of calm determination to do what needs to be done even though he feels like it's going to cost him his life.
the beginning feels a lot less haunted and ghostly but the lyrics are perfect, i love the change from "to the pressure, everything's just like" to "through the pressure, everything's alright", it just feels so climactic and awesome
If there was one thing I can safely say I love sonic forces... Is the fact they chose _this song_ as the final stages music for episode shadow. It's too fitting
I just realised, this track has the same motif as Live and Learn at certain points-! Which makes sense, this is the same boss that we fight in the FinalHazard, which has Live & Learn as its soundtrack. And as such, this first fight with the BioLizard is like a Prelude, or a Phase One, and FinalHazard is Phase Two!
Also, while probably unintentional, just as “I’m gonna be desperate” kicks in, the Guitar riffs follow an almost identical rhythm to “Thunder, Rain and Lightning. Danger: Water Rising”

Honestly it’s just depressing too me now that I’m older, like it’s a abomination of human creation that was made for a noble reason, but ultimately led up to so much strife gun killing Maria, shadow going insane with rage, and ending up with Eggman getting to into his grandfather’s legacy by accident, just sigh wow man, plus it’s just suffering on life support for christ sake, and probably wanting help, but it’s just a lizard at the end of the day so it can’t, besides it’s basically shadows brother.

Not sure if there's any deeper meaning (there might be), but it's still freaky.
