Although it's in 2 parts like both Mephiles's themes in 06, these are both remixes of his 2nd theme from 06. Makes sense considering where this battle takes place but I still would've liked to hear a mix of the first one ngl
The first boss against Mephiles in 06' has a better feel and the second part of this mix is the one that resembles it the closest. Still, if I want to hear that song, I can just go and listen to this song, I like the different feels they all invoke.

My thoughts might be that he remembers Shadow, but Shadow doesn't remember him because the 2006 events have been erased. This means that Mephiles doesn't exist in the timeline. He also does not remember the Scepter of Darkness. No wonder why his boss gate was in an underground cave in the white space.
My theory is that the Whitespace we see is where everything that doesn't exist in the timeline goes. Because of the Time Eater, most things don't exist anymore, but Mephiles has been there much longer since the events of 06 were erased from existence. That might also be why he's so hidden compared to everything else, too. The Time Eater might not have brought him there. He was already there.
Gerald has dialogue theorizing why he's there. Simply put, The Time Eater was able to pull from *all* aspects of the timeline, including "past alterations" as Gerald put it. Meaning that even though Mephiles was erased, the Time Eater was powerful enough to bring him, as well as Iblis and Crisis City, back into White Space due to them having existed once before. Mephiles, I suppose due to having power over time as well, was able to piece that together, and fought Shadow hoping to break out and "restore [himself] to the timeline"
@@Daebno This also confirms that Silver was part of an erased timeline before the events of Generations, and Sonic's meddling in White Space is what enabled him to appear in all future Sonic games.
First time was the time travel shenanigans: when Mephiles was released from the scepter in the present, from his POV he'd already met Shadow in the past, but from Shadow's POV that hadn't happened yet. Thus Shadow "forgot" him from his perspective. Second time was 06's ending: Solaris' destruction undid the events of the game, and only Sonic and Elise remember what happened. Thus, Shadow forgot about Mephiles for real.
The ending of 06 has elise dose a event so that solaris never exsted in the first place so mephlise cant have exsted so shadow dosent remember, he is only back due to the time eater creating the white space and this is his only chance to being brought back into the timeline
@@jockson7574 Pretty much anyone EXCEPT Mephiles himself, who experienced being erased from the timeline, and is now desperate to just restore his place in the canon after the Time Eater's antics have brought him back.
In the end of 06, the game’s events were erased from time with the implication that only Sonic and Elise have any memories of it. Mephiles clearly remembers, but he too was erased from time and is locked into the dimension between time that Generations takes place in.

they really went all out on the Boss themes. . . except for Metal Overlord, this theme slaps tho!
