- Hey, Friends! Welcome back as we continue in the wiring saga of the Civic EG track car build. In this video, I'm relocating the battery to the back of the car and running all new battery cables throughout the car. I'm within weeks away from the track weekend! Let's get it!

It's almost frustrating when little jobs like running some battery wire take all day. But anything worth doing, is worth doing it right. That's why I watch. Always enjoy those who do it because they enjoy it, and not trying to seek out YT Fame.
Thanks for the support, brotha!!
Awesome video!!! I will be doing this to my hatch this winter. Had an electrical fire under the dash with the stock fuse panel. Ripping everything out. Thanks
Thank you!
Fantastic video, love the detailed explanations behind your method. Appreciate your patience in sharing all this bro 👍🏽
Thank you for watching, sir!
Great thorough video👍
Thank you! 🙌🏼
Love the build! I'm a bit concerned about the way that battery is mounted. Any decent accident and it will tear the nutcerts out or pull the loop you used for the J hooks out. Then you got a 20lbs battery flying around. Just an observation. Keep it up!
You’re absolutely right. I’m actually working another solution for it right now. You’d be surprised how there really isn’t anything decent out there for a group 51 battery mount aside from having to custom one up. With it still being a lead acid, it’s gotta be sealed up too. Perhaps that’s why everyone just goes to an acid free option, but I agree. It needs to be redone!
@@bvspeed yes I struggled with the same on mine. I ended up going with a sealed battery that was smaller and lighter. I did a video on it just over a year ago. One thing with the smaller battery is I was able to put it in passenger foot well to offset driver weight and get the weight as low as possible. Glad to hear your looking at secuting it a bit better, I look forward to see what you come up with. 👍
Hey bud great video I just have one question on the fuse box there’s normally 2 wires that go into it. How did u run them ? Thanks
My original fuse box has been deleted and I use a new fuse box from Rywire. It’s a different setup from the OEM entirely, same concept of course, but different. I think you might be talking about the main power and charging wire going to the alternator?
Not worried about voltage drop with that much cable?
So far I haven’t seen any issues. The farthest I’ve seen the voltage drop down to while cranking was 9.8V without any hesitation to crank and turn over the engine.
Can I use 2awg cables with a 150 amp circuit breaker?
Hi everyone. Im cutting my spare tire tub out and installing a fuel cell. I also want to put my battery in the trunk but the fabricator has concerns about sparks causing a fire. My question is, can those battery boxes completely insulate from sparks getting outside?
In my opinion, I’d get the battery as far away from the fuel cell as possible, within the trunk, and also use a sealed box that’s constructed of sheet metal instead of these plastic boxes. I’m leaning towards agreeing with the fabricator. Don’t take this as professional advice so proceed at your own risk!
@@bvspeed ok appreciate it bro. I'm just a DIY like you.
So you didn't use the breaker there at the kick panel?
I used that breaker for the alternator circuit.
Anyone know what kind of engine setup is in his hatch? Looks awesome
Thanks! It’s a stock B18C1 (GSR) with bolt-ons!
I honestly thought you were gonna feed the wires inside the roll cage. That would have been cool.
Haha, no. It would be cool, but that would compromise the integrity of the cage. Thanks for watching!
What kind of wire are you using? I mean is there any specific term for the wire?
Just your standard battery cable.
Would you recommend a 100a circuit breaker from the battery or is that too large? I noticed you're using an 80a.
80A is the factory spec so I’d stick with that. Hope that helps!
@@bvspeed thank you!
Its still safe if use circuit breaker 120ampere?
I’d recommend to not go higher than what the original circuit was designed for.
how do you remove battery tray in an eg? seems its welded
There are a couple bolts that hold it down.
@bvspeed ok I have a rusty battery tray it's probably under the rust. Thx
4awg for battery cable?
Yup! Even stock battery cable is very small.
what is the + and - wire diameter?
8 gauge
100A fuse it's okay ?
I would stick with whatever your OE fuse is.
