The way Nyjah has been reflecting back on his days of learning to skate with his dad and just speaking like someone who grew up skating instead of sounding like a rich celebrity is a nice change of pace.
I guess that's one huge difference - most parents (back then esp) would yell "STOP SKATEBOARDING" while Nyjah's pops was like 'you better back lip that 18 boi'
Nyjah is the GOAT of our generation, always throwing gnarly tricks. I remember being a teenager skating in the mid/late 2000’s and This is My Element was released; IMO that part goes down as one of the best.
You know its the first time I’ve ever heard anybody say it, but i agree with him. back boards never came easy, but front boards just made way no more sense.
Thank you Nyjah for sharing your lifetime of unbelievable dedication and discipline with the world, and allowing yourself to be vulnerable with this interview. You deserved better, and you owe nothing to anyone but yourself. You're an inspiration in every sense of the word.
Glad people get to see what he really had to overcome. They make it seem like he ain’t put the work in when he ABSOLUTELY did. Since a kid he’s been going hard and pushing the progression of skateboarding. A lot of people might not like him for whatever reason but you DEFINITELY GOTTA RESPECT HIM. GOAT
I've watched Fade to Black more times than any other skate parts ever, i still keep finding myself going abck to it and its just so sick. I dont skate anymore due to the fact that i can't take the risk of having another sprain or injury since i need to train and compete in other sports but i love skateboarding so much and nyjah will forever be one of my fav skaters

Totally, I think if you want to wear a helmet its fully your choice as a person, at the same time you just have to accept that if you’re trying to pursue a career in street skating that you’re making it hard on yourself. its the industry’s choice on who they sponsor and that they’re running a business and “helmet skater kid” rarely (and I mean rarely) falls into their plans. If you’re skating for fun though only, then there’s no issue.
Skateboarding entering the olympics was mandatory at this point where these guys and kids have taken it is levels above what I thought it would ever be back in the 99/00

He tick tacked a lot more when he was younger... actually that's the one thing I noticed from watching this...there is a certain point where he stopped doing it, and it's more recent. He loosened his trucks a little bit but it made a difference on landings, I can tell he still rides fairly tight...as do I, so I can tell...but not as tight as he used to and that's why he tick tacked a lot. But also the reason he built so much precision.
He’s put a serious amount of his life into skating and there’s nothing but full passion still there to this day, no doubt that nyjah is hall of fame legend for everything he’s done.. and for the inspiration he’s given others, for example Yuto.. who seems to be missing his nemesis lately
It’s unbelievable to think he’s never won SOTY! Not like he needs it, just think he deserves the recognition. Maybe this is his year? Regardless, he has already eternally stamped his mark in the history books of skating - undeniable.
Nov 30th release Plus the other part he just released is clearly him throwing it into the ring for SOTY. Like him or not, he definitely deserves it and should have one by now.
