It took me forever to Ollie, then even longer to Ollie consistently while moving. But once I got it, the flood gates burst wide open. That was 20 years ago and even if I don't touch a board for years...I can still hop on and feel out an Ollie like it's second nature. Good luck.

    • @eaglebauer944
      @eaglebauer944 5 місяців тому

      @@darkwingduck7212No it's not. Unlike Alva, Duane still refuses to take responsibility for his actions. Everyone grew up except Duane, and now he is blaming everyone and their mothers for his self-inflicted problems. "Who cares?" Well, since he screwed so many people over, at least the title seems to be appropriate.

    Growing up as a skater in the midwest, Alva/Adams/Peralta were the biggest influences on my adolescence. I used to draw the "Awa" logo on my notebook in algebra. I had to have the board when it came out. I strongly believe that the Alva Skate ads revolutionized advertising, not just skating.
    This film stirs the soul, just like Z-Boys did. WELL PLAYED, SIR. Long may you skate & influence...

    He was so cool! He talked to me about skating. Told me some tricks on how to flow with the board and how to deal with the fear. He really impressed me as a kid.
    I ran to the snack bar and borrowed a pen then ran back and asked for his autograph in front of everybody. He told me f#@k no! Lol

      Unpopular opinion incoming, but I'd prefer to see the letters respectfully die when they are out of episodes filmed with Grosso. It was his baby to begin with, and his character that kept it going. I think it would be disrespectful for it to live on under someone else's name.
      By all means have a similar concept and keep the skate history coming, but don't call it the letters.

    Cool documentary on one of my skate heroes from the 70's.Tony & Stacey Peralta gave us the inspiration to build ramps and half pipes and raid any empty pools that we could find. I met him twice when the Hobbie team came to the UK. Once in my home town of Bristol and another time at Skate City in London....he gave me a high five when I climbed out of the black bowl after pulling off a sweet ride and ending up by doing a power slide on the vertical and managing to get back up on the board. It is still one of my fondest memories from the late 70's. Thanks for immortalising one of the greatest skaters in history. Respect from Spain 🤙🏼

    Although some of us never seen the lime light of being a pro skater, I’ve skated with some very talented thrashers on the Indian reservation. Sadly there was hardly anybody that owned video recorders or cameras back then. Nearly 50 yrs old now but I can still balance on a board. Thx for the memories.😊❤

    A friend and myself read ln skateboarder that Tony Alva, would be skating at Cherry Hill skate Park in NJ, and could not pass up the chance to skate with or at least alongside, and possibly meet our idol. We were 15 years old, and I remember while he dropped in to the half 3/4 pipe, this thought went through my mind, as I watched him, and that thought was, holy shit, this dude looks fucking old! I think Tony was 22 or 23, but when one is 15 people at that age look like old people. All I remember is how Alva shredded that 3/4 pipe, like no one else, including all those Cherry Hill locals. I was in such disbelief, that I was skating A long side my fucking hero! The photos I saw of Tony in sports illustrated of him popping out of pools, and grinding coping, was something we never thought we'd get to do. Being from Brooklyn New York, there were no pools, so streets skating was all we knew. That day back in '79 or possibly 80, in Cherry Hill NJ is one burnt into my memory. I will never forget The guy that inspired us, to steal plywood, and prop it up against the wall. Thanks for giving me, a chance to make my dream come true, and that was skating vert. If not for Alva, that dream probably would have never come true. It was one of the greatest time periods in my life. Peace Love and continued success, from your Bros in BKNY.
