do service vehicles pay tolls? i mean, can you charge garbage trucks for collecting garbage? orrrrrrrr hearses for uh... collecting the dead? i mean... for science, of course!!! ?
It's the same as a toll road, which they have for certain in the game. This is not an exploit but an AI issue. I have unintentionally provided entrances without a toll, but because it was slightly longer people paid the toll instead. Same thing, as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure they may attend to it. The amount you can charge to get in is out of wack is all. Cap it at 2 instead of 20 and it makes more sense.
You could drop the highways down into a tunnel and make a legit paid crossover park on top. Feels less cheaty if its more than just a single path, and would look great with amenities while still offering citizens a premium walking option
Even if you just build the park normally on a city block it will be profitable immediately just to a lesser extent. The farming industry he made earlier will have lower return on investment but will provide far more money than the parks and it's the least profitable industry. I typically use the parks normally and then use that money to finance my industrial expansion.
The park will be less popular and reduced number of visitors, even when you see tonnes of people passing through the gate. I think its counting by the number of people who are actually visited the park, not passing through.

Yes, loving this trick. The best park in my 300k town I have, makes C$ 180.000 per week. And having a total of C$ 660.000 per week for all parks. And because of that, the people in my town only pay 3% taxes and free public transport.
I see nothing wrong with it tbh. Its essentially just toll roads for walking paths. However, it does make money making so easy that it begs the question: why not just turn on unlimited money?

You can do this too in situations where its quicker for them to go through a park than it is to walk along a curved main road for example. Less of an 'exploit' and feels more believable. Still a good money earner.
One thing I usually do in addition to the park gates, is to also paint the entire res district as both park and as a district. This adds all the parks in that area to the attractiveness, and allows you to set policies for that district. Then just spam park gates on every ped Xing, especially at roundabouts. It also increases attractiveness for commercial districts, increasing sales.
Biffa, you do not have to delete the paths to place entrances, they can be placed ontop, and work the same way as upgrading a road. just plop them on top. It also helps placing them.
I added a parking lot then a walkway that was pretty long to my amusement park with a gate at each end. Did the same thing at the zoo. Making a ton of money just by doing that. Cant wait to do more of this at other places in my city. Thanks for the idea!
This is the exact trick I can't prevent myself doing on all my cities. It does not always look nice, but boy this brings a ton of cash, plus it provides a great entertainment value. I am glad that you tried it Biffa. Still it feels a bit like an exploit... The best spots are across highways or rivers, but the real juicy ones are when you have 2 metro stops from different lines side-by-side
as i just bought the Park DLC yesterday this is a good opportunity to try this on my pedestrian bridges xD Also imagine having to pay 20$ everytime you walk to work LOL this feels illegal
the first time i thought of this it didn't work out, everyone was going around the gates, the park was not making any money so i deleted it. Literally a few hours later you came out with a video doing the exact same thing in Teaville, and just using the move it mod you made it so everyone had to pay. Went back to the city and applied it. Worked like a charm. So i'm in the more "legal" exploits camp.
This little tip that you showed (and have before) is the sole reason I purchased the Parklife dlc on PS4. More like Biffa posts the video and players buy that DLC so they can do it too and Paradox: "Hey now. Thanks." Parkside is a very fun DLC and worth it not only for this little exploit but also as it has depth and other creative ways to use it. I prefer more bicyclists and pedestrians over cars anyway. Even more so if you lean into your public transport. Thank you for your continued inspiration and edutainment.
I've just started a new city, and every single one of my pedestrian/bicycle paths are set up that way Biffa, I saw you do it in Teaville. Definitely a great way to make money!
I love how you named it Cash Gardens, not even trying to be sly about it. Maybe if you put a monorail along the highway then more people would enter the park to pay for the monorail
I took this concept to the extreme in one of my larger cities awhile back, and oh boy does it ever scale. I set it up such that there is one huge residential area, with ample internal transit options available, but the only way for residents to access literally anything else is to hop onto the Park Highway; often more than once. With around 400k residents this resulted in nearly $1M a WEEK; more than every other income source combined. I then set all tax rates to 1%, maxed out the budget, enacted every costly policy I could, but nothing could overcome the Park Highway's cash printers. Far from realistic, obviously, but it was very fun to take the idea as far as I could.
you have cost me a fortune. since lockdown began i came across your vidoes. Spent hours watching and have bought the game and all DLC's Except Natural Disaster. i am officially hooked thanks to you.
I think you have to fix the dedicated turning lanes at 22:00 , the cars from the highway can cross straight ahead. It might make some traffic issues. And if you want some more money, put all the "parks" to the biggest one. so you can get the max incoming at all of them ;) and a big THANK YOU for the videos. I enjoyed them all.
Making people to pay to cross the road or to use paths is literally my least favorite thing you do by a mile... Hated it in TeaVille, hate it here. Love pretty much everything else in your cities because you make your cities so detailed and realistic but this is just so ridiculous.
This isn't a hack. A hack would be to put all of your transportation hubs inside of a park, and use roads around the transportation hub that pedestrians cannot walk, and then within the park, have the main walkway actually a series of gates forcing the people to pay many many times. One can EASILY make over 100,000/week. In fact, I always start a city with unlimited cash, then build everything up to about 3,000 population, then apply this method. In a matter of no time your realtime cash balance will become posative again, and then thru the roof. Once I establish this, I leave the game running while I sleep. The next day I can tear all of the gates out and play the game like a king with about $20million.

Sims cannot walk over the National Highway, so they HAVE to use the Park gates I placed. Works every time! Or where two different metro lines meet and people cross over to get on the other line...add a Park with the quickest route through the Park and money guaranteed! :D

I don't like the idea of having to pay for walking around. It's a bit of an immersion break. I love pondering how it would be to live in one of your beautiful towns, but not if I get fined for walking and cycling.
I use this early and late game to make money, but also to have something low cost to do while waiting for money to roll in especially early game. That's the one thing all the beautification really allows you to do: increase the value of everything while giving the city time to build up revenue to purchase the needed everything.. The bigges thing I learned watch your video was not to worry about the road heat maps for access which results in overplacement of expensive city services.
Biffa, wanted you to know that ive been watching since hermitcraft years ago but loving your cities skylines stuff even more. Additionally, today you gave me an answer to a huge crossword ive been doing (1200 clues ) " the british term for quotation marks" THANK YOU!! Inverted commas
Heya Biffa! I just wanted to give you a small tipp I stumbled upon while watching this vid: you have to treat the combined bicycle-pedastrian path like an asymmetrical road - making sure that it isn't mixed. E.g. Check the bridge right next to the first path/bridge you turned into a park area. One segment is "the other way round" , making cyclists have to switch lanes at the end. Hope you're doing great! Take care and bye bye. :D
The main advantage of higher park levels for cheaty parks is ticket price. Maxed out is 20 at level 1, but goes up to 40 per ticket at level 5. So you earn more per visitor, though the higher price might scare away some people.
great vid as always, without your channel I wouldn't be so far ahead on my 75k metropolis with 80% traffic flow and no despawn. might try this in my town but avoid removing the little side-routes for people to avoid buying a ticket. my town is missing more petty crime like fare-dodging and ticket resale!
Loving your videos more than I ever thought possible. In England, visiting my grandchildren (sans PC) and I'm pinning for my game. Keep them coming, I'm here until the end of November. 🥰
I would like to see this little cheaty trick being removed. Teaport is a city were everyone should always be able to enjoy their tea and don't have to worry about the money they need to cross the street. However, love this series!

I could never do this, this is just unethical. Oh, and I do not have the right DLC's 😂🤷♂️
So glad you fixed that path at the end there. Was driving me nuts. lol
Next time Mayor Biffa announces the building of a new park, everyone in Teaport will be groaning "Urgh our Mayor is addicted to tea leaves!!" XD
Great video ☺️ I really enjoy watching you build.
Perfectly uploaded on time for breakfast
Loving the frequent uploads! Can't wait to see how you're gonna grow this city.
If you make multiple parks instead of one big one you can organize walking tours that go in and out of each park.
I love that biffa uploads at times at which i can watch him :)
Large bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure: exists
Biffa, whispering: it's free real estate
This is great information and I might use it when I’m starting out and struggling for money. But, I’m glad it’s not staying in Teaport!
Hey Biffa! Looks like something got winky-wonky with your green tram line at the end! Might be worth checking it out next time :)
Loving your videos more than I ever thought possible. In England, visiting my grandchildren (sans PC) and I'm pinning for my game. Keep them coming, I'm here until the end of November. 🥰
Thank you Bernadet Racicot :-)
Your videos are a highlight to my day, keep up the good work!
Biffa will make his citizens regret moving in. It will be the first time we see walking being far more expensive than cars 😂
I would like to see this little cheaty trick being removed. Teaport is a city were everyone should always be able to enjoy their tea and don't have to worry about the money they need to cross the street. However, love this series!
