Anyone else notice at 13:45 that the lane connectors where stopping cars turning right onto the new road that Biffa had just connected, cause I couldn't think about anything else for the rest of the video....
Exactly.
Noticed it immediately.
Yep. I was literally screaming at the screen
That and the fact that he blocked card/taxis/trucks on his bus road, which as far as I can tell will only allow buses and service vehicles by default... (and he blocked trucks on one side, and taxis on the other)
yep, it's biffa not seeing the forest for the trees.
13:45 Hugo There isn't letting those guys leave the roundabout?
I had the same thought.
@@JohmmyN Me too
Same here, the roundabout right above the cargo station doesn't allow anyone to take the new road 😜 Everyone just needs to go around and drive back
yeah the lane connectors are just saying continue around instead of having the option to turn off
Yep...
Hugo turned to Hunogo
19:01 noticed that taxis were banned instead of trucks on the new bus road. Hopefully it doesn't affect the bus traffic. :-)
He banned the vehicles correctly on that 3 lane asymmetric road, so it should be fine
@@asbestinuS yeah, but now more is banned on that road than intended
I could just watch your content for hours, it's so entertaining and satisfying to watch!
As long as it's not a decoration video
Ikr same!
Many thanks :-)
Yeah me, too
24 hour stream surely? For 500k
Not sure if anyone has suggested, but the Festival Area could be called "ParTea in the Park". :)
Festeaval sounds better
Or just "Tea in the park" which "T in the Park" is a massive festival in Scotland
nic emery *was, replaced by TRNSMT in Glasgow now
The park there can be named ParTea Park :D
It just occurred to me that it would be an on-theme move to name your parks after flowers that are often mixed in with teas. So names like bergamot, jasmine, lavender, chrysanthemum, or hibiscus gardens.
Nice idea :-)
Chamomile? Probably best for a very relaxing park
@@m0sspunk What kind of park is called "Red Bush"?
🤔
@@analogbunny the red light district.....sort of place........does city skylines even have that?
@@Kafj302 Maybe better to call it by the Afrikaans name "Rooibus" instead then...
I have indeed learnt a lot from your videos - enough to make some suggestions myself :-)
At 20:54 you can't really get any good information about the routing (and the actual problem). I would suggest clicking on particular cars/pedestrians/cyclists to learn about their destination and possible route. After looking at some of them you might get a better picture of where the problem really comes from. - Though I suspect it's just the lack of public transport capacity to get them to the other parts of Teaport. The busses cannot make up for metro or trains.
Another thing I noticed is about the upgraded festival area: It doesn't actually change the footprint but rather the occupied area within the footprint. So it seems to get bigger but doesn't really. I noticed that with the first upgrade a few days ago and since you seemed worried here as well, I thought it's worth pointing out.
Anyway: Thank you very much for the entertainment and education you provide!
The roundabout close to the cargo terminal has lane switch restrictions that won't allow traffic to go right.
Yes I saw that too and I was cmon bro realize it.
Saw that too. The downside of him moving so fast...he totally didn't see it
Now he's aware
13:45 lines on the right are locked; thats why they are not going right
TMPE does that, Biffa has missed some of those un previous videos as well :)
Ya lines of hugo in the roundabout
This is literally Fix Your City but it’s his own city, and it’s a sequel.

Your mini rounderbout by the cargo center has the traffic looping round instead of having a lane to turnoff using traffic manager Hugo’s gone loopy
Think I spotted that the roundabout near the cargo terminal (just used for turning round) has lane connectors set up stopping people from existing onto your new national road connection and keeps them on the roundabout.
My favorite thing about this video is how he shows us his decision making process in “real time.” I appreciate being able to follow his logic, see him verbalize the problem and list possible ways to fix it. Fixing traffic in the game really is a process of finding the source the problem and considering ways to fix it based on what is happening. Great video! This is the first time I’m seeing content from this channel and I’m definitely subscribing for more!
25:45 you could just change the ferry path to go straight in between the ferry stops so they don't to the funky elbow there.
maybe you should also put the passenger train station in its own road set back from the main road like you have for the bus station
Ok. 2 things.
1. The protected bike lane stops the pedestrian from having access to the road so just put the bike lane on the opposite side of the road to the station.
2. The small roundabout near the Cargo Train Terminal has lane connections stopping them from being able to use the roundabout correctly.
Hopefully you read this and get to fix it. Loving the series. Keep up the great work.
Hi Biffa, 4:54 when doing those roads onto the roundabout you can select 'Toggle Road bending' on anarchy and it'll make the roads go straight on and out without having to use move it mod :)
everytime I say something that requires the person in front of me to stop and think, i hear Biffa, "Autosave!" and I take a quick sip of tea.
Thanks for that.. now everytime I see someone stop and think this will be going through my head
Hey Biffa.
Few things I wanted to point out to you.
At 19:02 you disallowed Taxis instead of Trucks for the bus lane road.
Also, if you don't want tourists to spawn their pocket cars, there's a feature in TM:PE to disallow Pedestriants from spawning pockets cars, which might help you with traffic and force tourists to use your public transport and walk more.
Keep up the great work! :)
the roundabout at the cargo station lane arrows, making everyone take a u-turn instead take the new road
Hey Biffa, not sure if you are aware of that but it is always good to keep your bus lines out of the main busy roads. As you can see in the video, your buses are responsible for holding the traffic. A good way to avoid that is to make dedicated lanes or includes exclusive road for buses. There are some bus corridors at the workshop. I would suggest creating a corridor for the lane connecting the two bus terminals. Also, keep using car restrictions to manage your traffic. I would, for instance, use it on the road in the cargo terminal to make my trucks avoid the main roundabout and go to the road.
And I also would love to see a Dutch quartier in your city. Maybe something with Amsterdam architecture, canals, ferries, and bikes. It could be called Amsteadam (Amsterdam), Rotteadam (Rotterdam), Tea Hague (The Hague), Teal (Tiel), or Chaischerlling (Terschelling)
Maybe you could try a double decker bus on the workshop. Those would look great and give you more capacity!
Well really what city bus only holds 30 people?
@@epiccollision The kind governments buy because "PR of this electric bus is more important than actual service provided".
That path along the river is asking to become a park.
now I am watching this episodes of Teaport 15 videos non stop, I am loving it Biffa, I am newly knew this channel, keep it up, Biffa! cant wait to see Teaport getting bigger and bigger
Thankyou 👍😁
Hey Biffa, I really enjoy your CS work! In one of the previous videos I was watching, you had asked about that seemingly random sound that resembles plopping a building down that the game occasionally makes and you didn't know what it was. Not sure if this has been addressed in a previous comment, but I noticed today that when my specialized industrial area upgraded it made that sound! So... there it is. Keep up the great work!
Love to see a detailing episode, and seeing you use the Intersection Marking tool

Nothing can be more satisfying than these videos of you fixing traffic! Thanks Biffa!

Biffa talking about the problems that need fixed in the intro
The burning buildings in the corner of the screen: 👁💧👄💧👁
I'm not sure which mod it is, probably one of the advanced public transport ones, but it lets you turn off public transport vehicle unbunching for specific stops. I found that's really useful when you have a stop close to a junction and can't (or don't want to) move it. It stops the busses from hanging around for ages at the stop and reduces how many other cars get stuck behind them.
I didn't see any other comment about it, but the blue bus line you altered has a small issue. It can be seen very clearly at 17:07.
The bus stop basically in the middle of the screen results in the bus lane making a loop around that block before continuing its journey
Yes Biffa! The entire time you were fixing the roundabout I was thinking about using a bus slip lane and than you did it!
I'm so glad to see you also have to "Fix Your City" and not just ours. Give us all hope to fix our queuing traffic.
Honestly, thank you for these videos. Your hints and tips have helped me with my first city that I started last weekend. Up to 50k already and average 80-85% traffic most of the time! Had some issues with vehicles exiting and rejoining a stretch of highway, but I rechecked my lane mathematics and walla! There was the issue. It just looks weird going from two lanes to one lane back to two and then three, but it works! a four lane toll both was causing the issue and throwing my numbers off.
Glad I could help :-)
As much as I would love to watch the expansion of Teaport, I also love watching you take a step back and improving what's already in place. Splendid video as always, Biffa
One video for a single roundabout... This is the content I need :d
Love these city fix videos - they're a massive help!
What I've done with my train stations is to have a dedicated road for buses alongside one for cars, although I don't have the dedicated bike lane roads. Seems to work pretty well.
I look forward to this series every time it comes out, so excited!
nice fes-TEA-val area
I was just thinking the same. Call it FesTeaVal.
How about FesTeaVille area in recognition of Biffa’s last masterpiece?
Hey Biffa,
I think they are lane conections in the roundabout near the Cargo, so they cant leave to bypass.
I really like these “f’ix my own city” videos. Especialy as you always seem to get a very good balance of education & humour.
Thank you for your video... I use this "playlist" as a massive tutorial in the game. I had the same issue regarding traffic around the roundabout. The root cause are the buses blocking the traffic and waiting for distance between 2 of them. I solved the issue using bigger shuttles
and a road "2 lanes + bus lane + bicycle lane. (with or without tram rail depending on the location)....
I started watching this video 15 minutes after it was uploaded, but it took me until just now to finish it because of errands and such. Still worth it haha
I noticed over the weekend that the Picker mod sets the network mode to "force ground to follow" (down arrow with line under it). Instead of drawing overpasses it raised the ground. Since then, I make a point to change the mode to 'vanilla' (circle) after selecting the road type. Also, I learned that placing an intercity bus hub right off the highway produces actual intercity bus traffic. Apparently, they don't like to venture too far into town.
Thank you very, very much for putting together these videos. Gradually, I'm learning something. :-)
I wondered what was doing that! Thanks 👍
Great Work Biffa, been watching your videos for awhile and I'm loving it :)
The northern roundabout you used for preventing trucks from crossing the street when leaving the cargo train station seems to have a "no turn" (Hugo there) restriction, so adding the road won't make it work. Try checking it out.
You could easily implement a "left one-way" near the bus station so that buses never use the roundabout. However, simply moving the stop out of the main road (by adding a parallel mini road, as you did in some other places in your city) might have a bigger impact.
Welcome back Biffa, could you speak out about what a new person should purchase when selecting the Cities skyline game itself. With all the extra dlc's and other available bits to buy it is very expensive.
I really enjoyed playing the base game for a while, no DLC at all, and building a few cities with it. Then I bought the DLC one at a time, each time building a city to test the new items. That gave me a better understanding of what was involved in each DLC, why it was important, and how it could affect my cities. Then I looked at mods and assets to address things I felt were missing. It also has allowed me to play the game for a long time and still enjoy it.
Hi, there's no "should", there's what you want to buy and play with :-)
@@dherbstr Thank you very much for your thoughtful response. I guess, always go vanilla before setting out on the rest still makes most sense eh.
Two things that immensely help with traffic. Underground "back door" roads that connect your industrial areas and cargo terminals to your commercial zones (use TMPE to ban private cars)
Use "short cuts" of Bus only roads to take buses and service vehicles out of intersections (use TMPE to ban private cars)
Also Bus lanes on roads are WAY more valuable in avoiding traffic blocking than bike lanes.
Once again biffas upload times = great for Aussies
GREAT VIDEO! So many useful tips that I'll use in my cities for sure! Thanks Biffa!
The lane restrictions on the roundabout next to the freight station are preventing people from turning right onto the national road to get out of the area. It's forcing them to stay on the roundabout.
Also, I would provide a highway connection from the other side of the intercity bus terminal so intercity buses have an express route to the terminal from the highway. Intercity buses always use the highway to the closest possible ramp to the intercity bus terminal. They will avoid using city streets as much as possible. That same express route might also help with the cars from the passenger train station who want to go further into the city.
Absolutely love this series! Thanks Biffa
Another great vid, Biffa. You might want to move the blue line stop near the school a smidge as there's an unneeded loop around the park before the bus only road.
I reckon you would go about this completely differently now with everything you've learnt since. Drawing in more roads and having bus stations in those locations is just a temporary fix it feels. A redesign with a dedicated transport hub in the centre with everyone going out from it rather than taking one key route feels the better option...
I haven't played for many months and started a new city, copying many of the tips you have given with tea port... I'm not even at 14k yet and already made 1 million (no industries DLC, or I'd have made more) and the traffic is above 91% while playing VANILLA. Your tips are amazing, keep the awesome videos coming.
Another awesome video, this has helped me in my city. Thankyou Biffa, keep sippin' tea!
Thank you KRGaming :-)
Some personal fixes for this video about how to fix the fixes.
1) Problem is at 13:44 round - about, right side. Red line and green light forces every single car to to straight forward instead of giving those cars the option to take the newly placed road!!!
2) Second problem is at 16:34 The arrow on the right top side , is going up, in a bus road. So cars might go on the bus road??? In reality cars that has never driven that area before tend to make that mistake. :-)
3) 19:03 Top section, trucks are allowed, but the bottom section is not???
4) Suggestion to fix the issue at 22:43 : Make a separate road, one way, with no protected bicycle road in which the people from the train station go to, where they all can jump in their car. This won't cause a traffic jam as it's on a separate road, one way.
When the people getting off the train and got to the roundabout and just got in their car -----Tourists 😒
I would connect a road direct to the highway as an additional options for the cars from the train station and trucks from cargo station as well. Easy and quick!
You've got some lane connectors blocking trucks from exiting that little roundabout by the cargo thing you were looking at
1 - Great vid as always but...
2 - I'm sure I'm.not the first to mention that you miss-clicked the traffic restrictions on the bus "cut through"
3 - That was possibly the weirdest way to "fix" the ferrys
4 - You don't need the "stay in lane" on traditional roundabouts, there's not many nodes anyway so it just messes things up. There's only really a point to using them if you're making turbo roundabouts (which aren't really roundabouts)
5 - I use the "better parking" option, and that seems to stop Cims taking their car out if their pockets if it becomes a problem.
P.S. why is your channel named after a refuse management company, it's been in the back of my mind to ask for ages 🤣
Don't forget to fix roundabout 13:45 as people can't go to national road and as always i learned something new today :)
I find that if you have traffic bunching up behind buses, you can use traffic manager to create a bus lane there and force all the other traffic onto the other lane. My buses drive pretty much entirely on bus lanes.
Also, for the intercity bus hub, I have a bus-only direct link to the highway to keep them out of the city.
I would suggest extending the road by the bus station further towards the highway slip lane. It will divert the traffic from the main roads and also can be used as an express route for the new bus route.
Watching your videos is as much satisfying as playing the game, if not sometimes more. Keep it up!
Thank you Pier-Luc Tremblay :-)
Yeah Biffa. You should change the road layout with the train station. Have it off the main road with an ovalabout to have them get out without the traffic headaches!!
Great deep dive, especially the anti-pocket car measures.
I think the troubleshooting on the protected roads was a helpful thing to show, thanks!
Hi Biffa i have 2 tips for you, I think they should help you and your traffic :)
You should have cars going in the "cargo station"roundabout but becouse you made with traffic manager it says no lane change and if you add any new road you need to change manually the roundabout becouse the traffic manager don't allow them to get of from the ring. This is the same problame what you have in the previus video.
An another tip: You have 2 bus stop near the univercity you should take on out so they don't ned to do an extra circle at the "traffic of the hell" road
you could also use timed traffic lights, I found out something cool, maybe you knew this before but if you press on a node to make it timed traffic light but you hold shift it will make it an automatic advanced timed traffic light with turns and better pedestrian. Has made my industrial and city area with the buses more manageable.
13:44 you have them set-up so they can't turn in the round-a-bought. Strait lines through the turn? they can't turn? Lines go strait across the right side?
I think the road directly near your intercity bus stop could be made to just allow buses and taxis. Because you really don't need every car turning around in there and blocking buses. You can then just add a turnaround road on the sliproad you added.
Just started watching your channel and really enjoying your content!
Thank you Ed Mond :-)
Biffa in traffic manager there's an option that says stay in lane in roundabout, when you don't have a road coming into a node on the roundabout it puts the lane connectors at the node, which don't get removed when you later on add the road coming in to the roundabout. You've done this with the small roundabout at the cargo terminal, that's why the cargo trucks didn't turn right and continue onto the new road under the train tracks
You're amazing, you need to work for gov. transport dept., but they probably won't have the budget. Ty for all your great tips.
Hi Biffa. I love your content ! Keep the good work. Btw, the only thing i could watch at the begening of you vidéo was the building in fire. Where are the fire squad ?
It looks like there is room to continue the railroad beyond the train station between the city limit and the road without buying the next square.
13:45 There goes Biff again trolling us! He is testing our city fix skills. It will be on the exam!
I genuinely think you should put a metro in from Pointea Square and the Train station. Just a stop at either end. Those buses are adding to your traffic!
I'd recommend the Set of Roads for Turbo Roundabouts by BlueHawk. They have no zoning on them by default, look nice, you have options for 2, 3, and 4 lanes, and there is a 3-lane variant with bike lanes. Honestly, I don't really use anything else for my roundabouts these days.
& You've got to watch them existing roundabouts when you're adding new roads to them. That one up by the cargo railway has lane connectors that prevent cars from turning off.
I'll check those roads out, thanks :-)
Another great vid, my laptop comes today and I will finally run this above 20 fps! Thanks for keeping me entertained
Enjoy :-)
It's about time for an airport!!
Teaport
Ehrm
Airport
The trafic issue could also be helped if you look at the trucks. Lots of them what to move towards the highway. There is only one highway ramp on. Maybe if you add a second one in the north.
That could relieve the main road a bit.
The yellow busline is now going through a large part of your city, while you can also make them use the highway, it may be longer (that's why the game chooses the other route), but also faster (because of higher speed limit) and doesn't cause as much traffic in your inner city (especially when using as much as 20 busses)
Thanks for cheering me up, sir. I needed that
For the round about, I think you miss the real key: where people want to go. Most of the traffic coming in wants to go straight out the other end and off to the highway. For me, the real solution on this one would be much more of an overpass / underpass to allow them to keep going in an orderly fashion without slowing down at all. The traffic circle is perhaps visually more appealing but it adds significantly to slowing down, waiting your turn, speeding up, trying to merge, when the what is really needed is nothing more than a straight through lane.
8:25 "Let's not forget out little connection ..." - wouldn't similar connections to the other areas close to the roundabout also make sense?
16:51 Weird little detour for the blue line. Maybe it already unwinds if you put the university bus stop on the other side of the road.
Do you remember those slip lanes to leave the highway? Could be time to replace them with proper highway connections to exit AND enter.
Hi Biffa, I really enjoy your green city build.
However, could you maybe do an episode or two of the environmentally worst build that people still want to move in? (Oil industry, ore industry, no bikes etc.)
It would be very interesting.
Anyway, I always look forward to your videos, thank you for them. :-)
You could try dedicated bus lanes and a separate lane for other traffic, Of course not for the entire stretch of road but just enough to give busses and other traffic the space they need. it seems to work for me.
13:45 Already see the problem at this point. They can not take the new road because you have those lines on the roundabout stopping them from taking the exit. Take those out and it should work fine.
16:48 Let's see if Biffa noticed the bus line issue in this shot...
I think the wealthy citizens of PoinTea Squares will soon demand a quicker form of transportation to the train station! Metro 🚇? Monorail 🚄?
Great video as always!!!
Hi Biffa! I recently started playing Cities Skylines and I'm so lost with the mods part, I have traffic mgr, and some more but I would like to know which ones you consider essential or more useful.
Two questions:
1. At the spot with the train and bus stops across from each other, wouldn't it help traffic if you added a pedestrian bridge/tunnel connecting the two stations directly?
2. Are those quay sections pedestrian-friendly? If so, why not connect them to the ped/bike paths next to them?
13:46 the small roundabout doesnt allow the drivers to get off. Maybe thats why they arent going the other way
Honestly, the picker mod is EASILY one of my top 10 or top 5 mods, It saves SO MUCH TIME and fuss trying to find things you're already using regularly. PLUS it picks up specific settings when you, say for example, change the color, trees, or lights of an existing road with another mod (can't remember the name)
Just finished my tea. Love your work Biffa! Thanks :)
Thanks! David Belle :-)
16:47 you should remove the bus stop right before they turn right onto the bus lane. it'll force them to turn left, take a stop then circle back onto the same road and make a right turn then a bus stop before getting onto the main road. it's an unnecessary stop.
16:42 Moving the bus stop makes the bus do an extra loop around the block because of the stop in front of the university.
Good tips, Biffa. And I DEFINITELY need them now because I'm working on a city! 😆 My traffic is horrendous! 😩😆
An Idea might be to use the protected bike lane and setup some sort of space (maybe a parking lot) that would allow all the people to join the city more evenly :)
For the buses, in Seattle we have an underground transit tunnel that only allows public transit to go through it so they don't clog up the surface streets. Maybe some of the buses could go under the roundabout with an underground stop?
