At one point I looked up the road marking standards handbook of my country's public roads administration. Legit had it open on my second monitor as I went around my city marking things.
I want to build those Diverging Diamond interchanges now, not because they work well(in the game), but simply because with this mod they will look absolutely gorgeous.
Look at the Swindon Roundabout on google maps and duplicate that. I want to see someone else do it because I might not eat or sleep until I finish it if I start it.
So funny! I just checked those mods out end of last week. Great stuff! But don't change your streets because you'll have to do all markings again. Quick note: You don't have to delete the rule of a lane in order to to change it. Just click on the "to" or "from" fields and chose another node. Done! As always, awesome video! You really make me come back to this game over and over again! Enjoy your tea and keep up the good work!
So glad you found these 2 - I've been using them today and my motorway junctions are really starting to look so good! A tip I found - if you want the junction to be properly smooth you have to do "flat junction" from both sides.
Your videos have been helping me so much through some mental health issues and grief. Hearing your voice makes me feel way less lonely. Keep up the good work and videos 💜
Node manager does not remove the citizen crossing, only traffic manager does it, citizens still try to cross still even though the node has hidden the marking
What really blows me away is that all the mods work so nicley together, usually you'd expect if you mod something you would expect to have no intercompatibility, its really impressive.
I suggest saving templates for each line (dashed, solid, double solid) since they are probably the same in every road. So that you won't be adjusting or pasting them. Great video btw 😊 I really enjoy watching you.
These are great mods! A copy-and-paste-node is desperately needed, I agree. Also, thanks to watching your videos for a couple days, I've been able to fix the traffic in every single one of my cities.
That's what annoys me with this mod. People put lines everywhere just because they can. Most of the time that makes the roads look weird and cluttered.
Oh my goodness Biffa thank you so much for bringing attention to these mods! I've always wanted a tool like this in cities skylines! No more fiddling with pesky decals! Just sweet, beautiful lines that automatically follow the roads! Amazing!
I’ve been getting back into this game recently and I just want you to know that I spend a lot of time watching your videos learning from you. Everything from what mods to use, how to use them to layouts, traffic fixes, etc. I really appreciate it. Your my CS big brother I look to when I need ideas or know how.
I love these. Was already using the intersection marking tool, but node controller takes it to a whole new level. I absolutely love how your new junctions work. And you're right, it does take ages to mark all the intersections in a city. I have a bit of experience with that.
OMG. Thank you for those tips on node editing! I thought I can only use node controller for corner smoothness! 10:30 You can rotate the chevron. The chevron will face/point/direct to the first point you press. Also, you do not need to delete the marking if you want to shorten it. You can just edit the To or From points in it.
Corner smoothness on a highway exit is incredible! I've been using Move it and the intersection marking mods for smooth exits, but no more. Thanks for showing these off!
Biffa : let's create a beautiful intersections with these two mod CSUR user : Wait... What the heck, those two mod are just a couple Mb combine all together
Hey Biffa, for your Chevron fillers, if you change your step to 2.5, make your angle 90, and then click turn, (especially on the triangles on your round-abouts) it WILL LINE UP THE CORNER with the center of the long side of the wonky triangle! And it'll look really good!
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines I wish I could show you what I've done with your tips! My roads are looking fantastic now and each Chevron is unique and looks amazing, and I even used stripes in a couple places and Oh man, it looks good! One should really check out the mods installed in detail... I was in love before with the marking tool, now even more. Thanks for "pointing" out, how even more amazing it actually is!
I've been watching you and others play Cities, as well as playing myself, for the batter part of a year now, and I hadn't realized how much you could do with intersection marking tool. Even right from the beginning of it. Very cool 😎
The intersection marking too already knew about it, but then I just gave up when playing, because it is a pain if you need to rebuild or upgrade or downgrade roads and intersections. But in places where one knows it it will not touch the roads anymore and it is done, it gives amazing results. The node controler is new for me, it is nice too. What I love in the intersection mod, is the ability to create yellow grinds to indicate no stopping there. Thx for sharing Biffa.
I'm scared to say it... but anywhere there is no lane switching... you COULD put solid lines in. But that would be an entire episode on its own!! The Citea looks amazing Biffa. Thanks for another great video!!
Ive been using this mod for a while, but what you did on 10:06 is absolutely amazing. Always wanted to do something similar but had no idea it's THAT simple. Thank you!
Congratulations! You have just discovered 'spiralisation'. And splitter islands. BTW, from a UK traffic engineer, we usually prefer zebras to just cross 2 lanes for safety and if those splitter islands were kerbed instead of using the chevron markings you could put the approach stop/give way line on the inscribed circle (the kerbed outside of the roundabout) where it should be. Also, if Lane 1 on the approach is the left turn and joins on to Lane 1 of the roundabout, then Lane 2 on the approach needs to tie in to both Lane 2 and Lane 3 on the roundabout (to cater for right turning traffic).
I’ve been able to make some really beautiful (at least by my standards!) intersections ever since I installed this mod. Providing relatively good intersection customisation that’s also very simple and accessible is honestly a gamechanger among the much larger less hardcore modder scene.
I do have to say that is utterly amazing, so realistic and the different details you could embark upon. Sadly could see oneself spending hours with the game paused recreating and designing every single junction and node. But I still love it!
Ok, that's a pretty cool mod! My problem is always that the city is falling apart, so having pretty roads is the least of my problems :) Also, nice videos! o/
I was one of the many that saw this and thought that Biffa would love that. Me, I might try it, but I can see me falling down a rabbit hole where I spend so much time futzing with my lanes and intersections that I just don't have time to play the actual game.
Your roads look WAAAAY prettier than the ones around where I live, even our roundabouts. We just get paint slapped down. You actually make roads look pretty and make sense.
@21:00 the line you were looking for was solid and dashed at the bottom of the list. I have been using the mod but you are introducing new ways to use it.
I like the node controller mod and the intersection marking tool. I saw a tutorial some days ago that was very informative. Biffa came there, Biffa saw there, Biffa is already using it. Yay.
These mods are awesome! Thanks. Its good to know that you need the beta version of Traffic Manager to get the node editor working, Otherwise it will error and not work. Also it is possible to have half a line between 2 points. You first draw the line, then delete the entire rule but keep the line itself in place. Then you draw another line that intersects the first lane to create a point. You also delete that rule. Now when you select either line, and you choose new rule, you see green dots. Click one, then they turn red. Click another one, now a line segment is created in that area. You can then style that line, and click add rule to create another segment. For example, have the first segment be a solid line, and the second segment a dotted line. In the Netherlands, we have block markings, this can also be created by setting the line width to 0.25, the line length to 0.25 and the spacing to 1. This creates a european style blocked line, which is used to indicate that two adjacent lanes go in different directions, and crossing this line means that you have to give way to traffic on the other lane.
I knew you’d love them Biffa! The mod tutorial videos that others make are helpful but to see the mods used in different ways in gameplay is what really helps me. I think it’d be great if you use them in Teaport videos to fix up what you’ve already built if you do a few at a time as you said. Thanks for another great video
Lol. Found your channel last year. After watching your fix your city videos for months, I finally downloaded the game. I need to very to a place where I know how to properly grow a city before I do these things in this video.
I was just looking at my highways ramps yesterday and wishing there was a way to make them more realistic, with markings and especially long on and off ramps! :)
Yas! I agree with the previous comment. This adds the realism that makes a city look real. Its always in the details. It will probably take me months to fill in my city with this mod haha so I'll just start a new one. Thanks Biffa!
This node controller mod is exactly what I, an avid tram user in CS, has needed for 4½ years! You can hold shift down while drawing a line to make the line solid from the get-go, so you don't have to always go in an change from striped to solid BTW.
As someone whose job is in part road design, you have no idea how much I have played Cities Skylines and wished I could just use a version of that in my job. It is actually starting to move that way but a lot of the design software we use still has UI's and processes that would have been cutting edge in about 1990.

There isn't actually a node required to switch lanes so no, they can't turn left.
Who else feels like they have literally watched all of UA-cam during quarantine
Not even close! XD
Wait, your country had a quarantine? Sorry, I'm American.
hardly had any quarantine here lol
Clayton Hoffman Almost 4 months of lockdown in my country 😅
Now the lockdown is eased with safety precautions and some restrictions
Same.
I wasted a scary amount of time on my roads ... but now I feel the need to spend more time on google maps to make them even more realistic lol
At one point I looked up the road marking standards handbook of my country's public roads administration. Legit had it open on my second monitor as I went around my city marking things.
@@Nighthunter006 oh man that sounds like a good plan, Im gonna try that lol
I want to build those Diverging Diamond interchanges now, not because they work well(in the game), but simply because with this mod they will look absolutely gorgeous.
Look at the Swindon Roundabout on google maps and duplicate that. I want to see someone else do it because I might not eat or sleep until I finish it if I start it.
Every time I watch this man play cities skylines I fall into a depression of :
- I can't afford the game
- I can't afford a PC that runs the game
wait for black friday...
the game is only 30 dollars. and only 7.50 on sale.
I was waiting for train expansion but it's very helpful tool to beautify roads. I want to see train expansion in coming episodes coz i love them.!
Yes, something which automatically makes the lines level would be good so you don't have to manually create "cuttings" and "embankments".
20:40 Hugo is back!!!!!! I have to start a new city now... Yeah!!!
My mind was blown when I saw Akruas' demo on the Node Editor and Intersection markers!
I really like the way the roads look with these 2 mods.
So glad you found these 2 - I've been using them today and my motorway junctions are really starting to look so good! A tip I found - if you want the junction to be properly smooth you have to do "flat junction" from both sides.
"What you do this weekend?"
"I spent 24 some hours painting virtual road markings in my Cities Skylines save...I have developed a problem...."
If you “redraw” the line, it will delete it. The intersection marking tool is my new favorite, I spent hours designing lines in my city.
The work effort you put into, not only your videos, but your love of the game is so refreshing. I appreciate you for existing.
Thank you SimLivNColor :-)
Maybe I’m wrong (I probably am) but I don’t think you need dashed lines when a 1 lane road goes into a 2 lane road
That's what annoys me with this mod. People put lines everywhere just because they can. Most of the time that makes the roads look weird and cluttered.
@@snostorm12588 Yeah but how else will you control the horky borky lane switching?
@@Chromatomic the lines are just cosmetic. Traffic Manager takes care of all the horky borky lane switching behind the scenes
@@snostorm12588 We know that, but we can't expect the cims to know that.
Oh my goodness Biffa thank you so much for bringing attention to these mods! I've always wanted a tool like this in cities skylines! No more fiddling with pesky decals! Just sweet, beautiful lines that automatically follow the roads! Amazing!
I honestly wouldn't mind watching a live stream of you doing the traffic markings around Teaport.
I’ve been getting back into this game recently and I just want you to know that I spend a lot of time watching your videos learning from you. Everything from what mods to use, how to use them to layouts, traffic fixes, etc. I really appreciate it. Your my CS big brother I look to when I need ideas or know how.
Loving these longer episodes
I love these. Was already using the intersection marking tool, but node controller takes it to a whole new level. I absolutely love how your new junctions work.
And you're right, it does take ages to mark all the intersections in a city. I have a bit of experience with that.
So we need a 2020 update of the essential mods list...😜
Indeed :-)
_Instructions unclear:_
_Am now eternally stuck in roundabout._
Corner smoothness on a highway exit is incredible! I've been using Move it and the intersection marking mods for smooth exits, but no more. Thanks for showing these off!
If you drive an Audi, BMW or Mercedes, don't worry - none of this makes any difference for you, you can continue to drive like an absolute wazzock.
Biffa : let's create a beautiful intersections with these two mod
CSUR user : Wait... What the heck, those two mod are just a couple Mb combine all together
Sir Mustache has CSUR addressed incompatibility with vanilla highways?
@@epiccollision nope
Wow, thank you! The Node controller tool seems to be fantastic! And the line marking tool too! Awesome!
As a player of the PS4 version of the game, I am jealous you guys have all of these mods at your disposal!
Hey Biffa, for your Chevron fillers, if you change your step to 2.5, make your angle 90, and then click turn, (especially on the triangles on your round-abouts) it WILL LINE UP THE CORNER with the center of the long side of the wonky triangle! And it'll look really good!
I'll try thanks 👍
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines I wish I could show you what I've done with your tips! My roads are looking fantastic now and each Chevron is unique and looks amazing, and I even used stripes in a couple places and Oh man, it looks good! Even the crosswalks look infinitely better than the vanilla wonky ones!!
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines now if I could just figure out how to get my traffic from 72% to 80+ lol
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines you wouldn't want to review my city would you?
This is so huge! These mods are exactly what I've needed for the past 2 years!
Right on our Independence Day, what a time to be alive! These are amazing mods!
Thanks for another great video!!
omg biffa thank you, that 2 line - 1 line change was killing my OCD, great video as always
I found these not long before you created this video. Learned a few tricks with these mods thanks to you. Thanks! :D
Wow! I love the mod community of skylines! Thanks for spotlighting these!
I can't believe I've just spent 30 minutes of my life watching Biffa draw lines, and I enjoyed it.
If you had fun or wasn't a waste 😁
Yep! 30 minutes well spent!
Usually, these titles are more or less "clickbaity", but this is absolutely awesome! Thanks, Biffa!
Ive been using this mod for a while, but what you did on 10:06 is absolutely amazing. Always wanted to do something similar but had no idea it's THAT simple. Thank you!
And the next trick is super cool too! Omg.
Love the detail work Biffa! Please don't forget to plop down some rocks, trees and maybe a fence in the middle of that roundabout🤩
Howly this is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Amazing stuff and great video!
My problem is always that the city is falling apart, so having pretty roads is the least of my problems :)
Also, nice videos! o/
I was one of the many that saw this and thought that Biffa would love that. Me, I might try it, but I can see me falling down a rabbit hole where I spend so much time futzing with my lanes and intersections that I just don't have time to play the actual game.
Didn't realise you could do so much with both of those mods. Looking forward to trying them out in my own cities!
One of those I already had in use, but having the other added is making things so much better!
It's this attention to detail that makes your cities just that much better, Biffa
I think this on its own could be a genre of oddly satisfying
😁
Love these mods!! I just starting using them recently and they are a real game changer! Highly recommended!
Biffa, I almost spit Pepsi all over my screen when you said "Backseat gamers....", loved it. Thank you for this instructional segment.
Brilliant episode Biffa!
I think I'm in love with the new mods too ... just need to find some time to put them in my city LOL
I didn't even know about the node controller mod until I watched this video. Looks very useful.
I just binge-watched all of the Teaport series from the start. Love love!
Hats off Biffa, excellent video. I've had the markings mod for a few weeks and it's been baffling me. Keep sipping tea you lovely man.
I like the node controller mod and the intersection marking tool. I saw a tutorial some days ago that was very informative. Biffa came there, Biffa saw there, Biffa is already using it. Yay.
I was mightily impressed by the work on the round about and approach roads but that freeway offramp. wow.
This looks absolutely fantastic, can't wait to give it a try now in my city. Thanks for the find and the tips Biffa! :D
As someone whose job is in part road design, you have no idea how much I have played Cities Skylines and wished I could just use a version of that in my job. It is actually starting to move that way but a lot of the design software we use still has UI's and processes that would have been cutting edge in about 1990.
