What's best Sulfur or Zinc Oxide
@@petita79she literally explains it in the video… just watch it
Rosacea triggers for me: stress, lack of sleep and heat.
Oh boy, heat is #1 for me! It also triggers atopic dermatitis on my arms. Pure misery.
@@brendatomlinson I can relate to all of this too, ladies! The main time that my Rosacea gives me trouble is in the summer and hot weather months! I'm doing fine unless I have to go outside to jog/exercise in the morning OR if I need to do yard work! My face can go from fine porcelain white to bright red in about 20 minutes and it takes about two hours to clear it up! I sometimes use ice packs to strap to my face before I go outside when I am cutting grass and it seems to help, but the ice packs drip!
For those living in Europe: The brand Theramid has a 15% Azelaic Acid Lotion that works really well. Acnemy has 10% sulfur mask that is also amazing. Both are quite affordable given the concentration. :)
They deliver to the US too with no customs issues to date. Love their azelaic acid 15% and their copper peptide 3%.
Just ordered it (US). Thanks for the recommendation!
Add Isispharma metroruboril a.z. 15% cream to that list too
Second the comment about the copper peptide - amazing product!!
Skinoren 15% Azelaic Acid is also a nice one. 6 month in and my skin looks like reborn
When I changed my diet and eliminated sugar and lowered my carbohydrates. All of my redness and pustules went away... I focused on whole foods, lots of vegetables and Animal proteins..... My skin completely cleared up... I was Told by my dietitian that lower carbohydrates in the diets in high amounts of vegetables lowers inflammation in the whole body...i do still use 10% azelaic acid. Naturium does not peel at all.
I think she meant pill, like a sweater does at times.
Carnivore is helping mine 4 sure :)
@@user-ng8yb9fd1k you don't have to completely cut out carbs. Always prioritize low to medium glycemic index carbs instead (they're digested slower in our bodies, leaving us fuller for longer and reducing that post-meal sleepiness caused by insulin spikes from high glycemic index or processed carbs), like brown rice, red rice, whole wheat pasta (you can even make your own with vegetables, look it up on UA-cam), sweet potatoes, boiled corn, and yams. You can also incorporate more legumes like beans, lentils, chickpeas, make a quinoa-based salad (it's delicious), eat more vegetables like cabbage, zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, opt for healthier fats like extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, avocado (it's amazing with salads or as guacamole!), and nuts. If you increase your intake of animal protein, especially beef, you also tend to feel fuller for longer since our bodies take longer to digest it. I recommend checking out Tish Wonders' "balanced bowls" videos, she shares various delicious and beautiful recipes that will definitely inspire you to be more creative in the kitchen. Hope it helps :)
@@eileenvandernoot3867Aha! Thanks that had me scratching my head
This! 💯💯💯💯
Diaper rash cream team here! I use it as a last step to my night rutine. It really helps with my rocesea AND when I use tretinoin so I don't get irritared 💪🏻
Hearing you mention about feeling anxiety and embarrassment because of the redness really got my attention. Very often I will wear a mask in public because I’m so embarrassed someone will mention my redness. I’m light-skinned Latina with sensitive-rosacea skin.. I’m tryin all the remedies to help 🙌🏼
I've been wearing a mask pretty much in public all the time since 2020! It helps to protect my skin from the sun, cold or hot wind or any precipitation!
I feel like this video is directed at me LOL 😂 I was hoping you’d talk about this as redness is one of my biggest skin concerns
Physically annoying and embarrassing at times…definitely psychologically impacting. Thank you for bringing more awareness to this topic
For inside-out help, get your A1C checked. High-carb diets and subsequent high blood sugar/insulin resistance is frequently the culprit with those suffering from rosacea. Getting the diet in check and getting those glucose spikes flattened will heal a lot of health issues and your skin will start chilling out, too 😁.
For anyone who may be wondering what Dr. Idriss is referring to around the 08:55 mark (Dr. Jart's green, redness-canceling Cicapair) -- she's referencing Color Theory. You'll want to look up something called a Color Wheel which shows what are referred to as Complementary Colors. The complementary colors will be directly across from each other on the wheel. For example, green cancels out red. Yellow will minimize purple (think under the eyes) and vice versa (purple will brighten dull/yellow undertones), etc. Happy color correcting, y'all! 😊❤
Yes, I am familiar with Color Theory and the wheel of opposite colors!
Oh my goodness those tips about rosacea not having blackheads and not being around nasal folds was soooo helpful! Thank you
Thank you for dropping knowledge every Saturday morning! You are a badass. My cheeks get flushed when I work out, embarrassed, from alcohol, or just getting hot. It's embarrassing. My esthetician said my capillaries are close to the surface of my skin. Based on your examples, I don't think I have rosacea, but now I want to see a derm for laser treatments like you did. My cheeks get rosey and it's embarrassing when people point it out.
Thank you so much! I love you as a Derm and really appreciate your thoughtful videos. One thing I would love if you explained how to add these products to fit in our AM and PM routines. As well as if we use A dont use B on the same day, etc.
Can you share a skin routine for rosacea?
Thank you for taking the time to do this. Excellent video and so incredibly helpful!
The BEST rosacea video ever. I think you covered it all!! It took forever to be properly diagnosed. In fact I was treated as adult acne in my 30’s and put on tretinoin which was a total disaster. Years later I determined it was really rosacea. Now at 76 it’s controlled with many of the products you mentioned. I love hypochlorous acid spray and can’t wait to try the Nizoral shampoo.
You deserve all the sponsorships you want. You and Bigfoot(out of the scene for years) taught me everything to take me safely from dayhiker to backpacker. My first trip was solo on AT Grayson Highlands and it was a dream. It changed me and gave me a confidence I value so much. I wouldn’t have gotten there without you and other UA-cam creators. You’ve always had integrity which I always look for. I hope you keep up the awesome hard work you do and GET PAID whatever you need for your life. Would love to see how the gear we use and depend on is made and all the people behind it.
I’ve been watching for several months now…. I really appreciate that you link to a lot of different products that are readily available to everyone, and not just your own line! With that said, I have been using your major fade line and depuffer for about a month and I really love it! 😊

The newsletter is marvellous! Thank you so much!
Great video! Perimenopause was giving me rosacea. I started using a prescription estrogen face cream two months ago and it’s almost gone now! So that’s another tip for any of you who may be menopausal.
thank you, I am in the same position and nothign seems to tame it so will ask y dr!
I'll try to get my hands on this! I'll try anything at this point 😊
Oh I will definitely have to check this out and ask my dermatologist because I’m tired of all the meds (and money) that I’ve been using that isn’t helping! I had normal skin up until menopause and then everything went down hill! Thank you for sharing ❤
Oh wow, yet another thing that might be triggered by perimenopause that I hadn’t considered…but I have only noticed it in the past few years…thanks for mentioning.
Are you in the states? ❤
I sometimes put a zinc sunscreen on my face when its irritated. It really calms my face down
Thank you so much for adressing rosacea once again! Have been asking on your insta for this! You're a kind heart, such a lovely person! Wish you gave consultations here in Portugal! Have a great weekend 😃
THANK YOU! It's so hard to get into dermatology where I am and the way insurance is billed but also just having the time for another appointment is a whole other issue. I definitely needed this. I have the diagnostic from my primary care who literally knows nothing about it (not exaggerating, she actually told me that) but trying to get into dermatology has been so difficult. So I'm relying on OTC and sourcing good info online (but there's not much out there besides anecdotes). So this is amazing and came at the perfect time. I cannot say thank you enough for this video. I understand more about how to help my condition from your one video than from hours of reading and doctors visits. You're amazing. Keep at it. ❤
I just love the mixture of informative content mixed with a wicked sense of humor. Thank you for educating me. I work as an esthetician & your videos help me guide my clients to using helpful OTC products. I’m extremely grateful to learn from you. And to laugh as well ❤
Thank you! I always love when you talk Rosacea. Really appreciate the details! 😘
❤ Fantastic info and I will be coming back to this video again just to take notes like a good nerd 🤓 You are THE most helpful and pleasant to watch Derm on the internet! Thank you and I hope the little one is feeling better and you all get some rest today. 🥰
Love you Dr Shereen! Thank you for educating normal people in a simple language.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! This is the video I have been waiting for! Have been cautious with getting sulfur products, as all of them state "acne-treatment", and that is not something I wanted for my sensitive rosacea skin. Thank you for clarifying this moment!
Really appreciate your content and especially how you often mention the psychological effect of different skin conditions ❤❤❤
I love the little name plate in the back!!! Always love Dr. Idriss and her positivity! Such a badass woman!
She is a good one!!😅 badass ,sn't?
I admit I took a screenshot of it to keep!
omg thank you so much for this video !!! i have papulopustular rosacea and ocular rosacea and its such a complicated condition to understand!! took me years to identify the triggers, and til this day sometimes it randomly appears and i dont even understand why! I think i developed this condition because in my teenage years i used to expose myself to the sun and uv a lot without protection and like you said it broke my skin barrier and it made my skin super sensitive to anything that could be 'rude' or irritating to my skin. I have flare ups when ever the climate is really dry or any extreme climates too like either super cold or super hot. but wow thank you so much for sharing products that help when it flares up, please dont stop!! 🙏
You’re the best Shereene ❤ Thank you for the information
Thank you Dr. Idriss, you’re so helpful!! Such an amazingly detailed video on rosacea🙏🏼❤️
Thank you so much! Your videos are always so interesting, especially as a rosacea sufferer myself! Lots of love from France (I love hearing you throw random french words in your sentences btw)!
This was very informative, very spot on. Thank you very much
Thank you Dr. Idriss! Great advice here and some of it I hadn’t heard before, and I’ve watched a lot of rosacea videos. ❤
Thank you so much for this so detailed video. I have been fighting Rosacea (with a dermatologist and my eye doctor help) for years and I learned new things from this video. Please continue with this excellent information.
I love your clear talking, no nonsense information. And the little plate in the background 😂
Thank you so much!!! I am so happy to be introduced to some
new products for my tool chest! I was also prescribed doxycycline for my skin and ocular symptoms. Had to up the dose to 100 mg recently due to seasonal allergies layered on top of the rosecia. That seems to be working for now but I expect that will change as my treatment has changed through the years as my skin has changed. Thank you again for your content and your product line. It’s made a huge difference!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video! It was so informative & helpful to explain so many issues I've had for years.
Sometimes my rosacea really catches me off guard, like when we traveled to a high-altitude town in Utah. My skin was SO irritated and red and now I travel with ALL my goodies so I can treat a flare up anywhere. Other times, like when it's very hot outside (California summers) and you're at an event-- sigh! "No, everyone! I am NOT drunk! ...or having a heat stroke!"
Thank you for your content and for educating us! My current pregnancy has caused the worst flare of rosacea I’ve ever had. Implementing your tips have made such an improvement!❤❤
This was absolutely fantastic, thank you!
Thank you so much for this video!! As a long-term sufferer of rosacea, I now have a new shopping list, as well as self-esteem, to purchase and use the right products.
Much love from mid Michigan!💜
Love the sign at the back 🙂
I just applied the butt past to my face because my skin barrier has been feeling a little dry in the past couple of days, and then I grabbed my phone - and there it was, a notification from my favorite dermatologist. I am not a big skincare geek or anything, I just love listening to Dr. Idriss talk. She's so down to earth and sweet.
Does the butt paste not dry your face out more? Do you wash it off in the morning? I'm very curious. Ty
Thank you for this, I needed that!
Thank you for your Ted Talk. Love your videos ❤
blessed with all the possible triggers for rosacea, just awesome :')
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!!!!❤
I currently dont have health insurance so this is super helpful.
Your work is amazing. I admire you so much and I wish you health, sucess for your family, and everything!
❤
Thank you Dr.Idriss!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom with us❤
I was given Accutane 30 years ago and both my papulopustular and eye rosacea cleared up. About 6 months ago I think I overused retinoic acid, lots of stress and it all returned! Now on doxycycline and I follow Dr. Idriss’ suggestions. Doing a lot better! Thank you!
I’ve been waiting for this video forever! Tysm 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
Thank you, I needed this info.
I’m a flushed red American😂
I have had rosacea all my life, and it made my teen years very difficult. Every time I endured a stressful situation (like a class presentation), my face was RED. I mean - red, like beetroot or a traffic lightning red. It made me feel very bad about myself and also developed an unhealthy relationship with cosmetics which made me look even worse. When I defended my master's thesis in front of all the professors and other students, I was so stressed out my face was RED, and no amount of foundation could hide it. It was close to a nightmare situation. Eventually, I learned that cutting out sugar and carbs helps me. My whole life I've been ashamed of my blushing problem, and I become paralyzed when it comes to situations with elevated heart rate. Also, it makes me use an excess amount of foundation and concealer daily since it makes me feel safer psychologically, even though I have realized that my redness has noticeably lessened after changing my diet.
Have you recently tried V-Beam Lasers and tetracyclines? Also there is a procedure called ETS (Endoscopic Transthoracic Sympathectomy) where they will cut the nerves to your sympathetic nervous system and you CANNOT flush or turn red after this! Not everyone is a candidate!
Thank you so much for this video! This is exactly what I needed to revolutionize my skincare routine!
hope that your products soon will be available on the European market. Love from a rosacea sufferer. ❤
Thank you Dr.Idriss! Great video! My eyes filled at the conclusion of your video when you described the psychosocial aspect of living with rosacea. The struggle is real. I have become so sensitive that I can't wear any makeup right now and I am in the middle of an extreme flare. I use a prescription Ivermectin/Metronidazole compound. Which product that you have listed would you suggest that I begin with for some over the counter additional support?
Hello from Colombia Dr. I love your videos💐
Thanks for all your advice. Love you short videos!
I just wanna say that you are a heck of a role model, I'm a 21yo Syrian girl living in Homs city which is very close to Lebanon; sending you loads of love
I’m a HUGE nerd in a place where unfortunately rich resources don't exist anymore and no international brand, you've helped me SO MUCH also I'm preaching your products to all of my friends around the globe lol, can fucking not wait to try them myself
May Allah bless you with ease , ameen 🤲. Love from Pakistan 🇵🇰 ❤
@@PrototypeM Awww thank you so much! Sending blessings back your way❤
I feel grateful for my own Dermatologist. Last year I suddenly broke out in what I thought was adult acne. My Derm took one look at my photos and was like "nope, that's Papulopustular Rosacea". I tried the antibiotic route, which gave me severe anxiety as well as a mild blood nose (which I've literally never had happen before/not normal for me), so internal antibiotics are an absolute no-go for me personally. If you suffer from general anxiety issues, just be aware antibiotics can potentially worsen it and if so, speak to your doctor. I am now on Soolantra and Elidel cream, both working very well for me so far BUT you have to stick with it long term, Ivermectin (Soolantra) often needs a few months of use to work properly and not just a couple weeks. For me, OTC skincare was not adequate for controlling my type of Rosacea.
I know you see the comments, so I'll try. How do I combine a rosacea-friendly routine with ageing skin? How do I combine rosacea, wrinkles, and dull skin? Alot of dermatologists online give great advice on the separate topics, but never combined. Is there a point in worrying about wrinkles and dull skin as long as rosacea is present?
Yea so true. Can we get shown a skin routine for all of this + rosacea? Like also can we use your line with rosacea?
Can you pls make a short video for all red face girlies morning routine using what kind of products to use pls 🙏🏼❤️
Can you make a video on wholesome skincare brands from health food stores like whole foods, natural grocers, etc? I really appreciate all your info esp for rosacea skin! 💗💗
I really appreciate how you showed the presentation of rosacia on dark skin.
🙌🙌🙌
Thank you for another informative video. I do have mild Rosacea, so I devour any content you release on the subject! It's all helped tremendously. I'm in Canada, so we do have a lot of restrictions on ingredients in skincare. The Tripple Paste cream is not available here! Are there any others in that category that you can recommend?
Thank you so much for this video! I really appreciate it!
Thank you for all your videos !!!
AMAZING VIDEO🎉 THANK YOU AS ALWAYS 🫶
I have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome that causes flushing and years before I was diagnosed I’d get my coworkers asking if I needed medical attention because they knew I reacted to peanuts. Treating my MCAS has been hugely helpful for the rosacea, along with a compounded cream with azelaic acid, ivermectin, and metronidazole. I just added a centella serum after testing it on half my face for a few weeks (honestly for me the best way to gauge reactions, keep one side the same and test one new thing on one side of the face so you have a control subject) and it’s making a big difference. My moisturizer contains licorice root, which also really helps redness for me (also has ceramides and niacinamide).
Which moisturizer do you use with the licorice root?

Just what I needed Shereen, my rosecea has been flaring up recently. Highly recommend all dr Sam buntings products. Would love to try your de puffer when you ship to the uk. Love your videos.
I was just wondering about Dr Sam’s products- Dr Idriss says the nightly serum has 2% vitamin C ester but the only one I find has 2% retinol. Is this one you have tried? Thanks :)
Thanks for this great video! So glad to know that someone out there understands the multitude of symptoms a rosacea sufferer can have and that it's not 'all in our head'. In regards to Vbeam, I'm struggling with any laser procedures because aside from being blessed with Rosacea I also have lots of hyperpigmentation/melsama on top and waiting beneath my dermis. I love Vbeam but do you feel it can also exacerbate and ultimately cause more PIH?
Also adding thoughts to the community here and agree with a lot of the comments. I've had rosacea since I was a kid and it's taken me 20+ years to remotely understand my skin and countless appts with derms and my own experimentation, the triggers, what works (and doesn't work), and the evolution of it. Everyone is going to have a different combo of what works for them and what your triggers are. I will say though I feel there are some common things you need to get under control 1.) the bacteria that causes rosacea - aka you gotta cleanse or use a hypochlorous acid like Dr Idriss mentioned 2.) You have to keep the skin hydrated and balanced - rosacea is always sitting underneath and always wanting to explode at any moment, so you have to keep your skin plump and moisturized to keep that at bay i.e. use toner and essences to bring back hydration after you cleanse (moisturizer wasn't enough for me), than the normal skin regimen 3.) if you have a rosacea flare you def. have to do the above two even more so and whatever products help calm your skin and top if off with an occlusive. Remember even if we flare we want the illusion that our skin is ok - i.e. the hydration/plumping effect. GL!
I hope that eventually you’ll ship to Canada. Would to be able to purchase.
Thank you for sharing this!!! I am considering the laser treatments
Oh my goodness. I cannot tell you how helpful this was. I never thought I had rosacea but everytime you mentioned something else was "yes my face does that". I am so excited now to finally start treating this situations. I used to use Nizotal shampoo all the time. I even did the the ng with bringing it by my nose but it was too harsh. Anyway....thank you for this informatiin
I can't believe I stay awake the hall video ❤thank you
Very informative! Thank you so much
I ordered the vitamin c cream. Can’t wait to use it!!!
You are amazing Dr.. thank you
OMG!!!!!! I just noticed the little sign behind you. Brilliant 😂😎😂😎😂😎
As a fellow rosacea sufferer, specifically redness and pustules, I’ve found the De La Cruz mask to be a game changing product. Yes it may smell like eggs, but you seriously can’t beat the price - I won’t try other products because they’re just fancy marketing…that’s literally what most products are - marketing. Most brands work with the same contact manufacturers, making slight changes to the formula and then the rest is story telling/marketing. Also highly recommend the Paula’s Choice booster, and I found taking zinc supplements to be helpful. Outside of that, keep the stress low, Ashwaghanda supplements help for that, and WEAR SUNSCREEN!!!!
Excuse me, wich booster meant from Pola Choice?
@@marial328 I bet they meant the azeleic acid booster
I’m also a fan of Dela Cruz! Especially once I started following it up with a cleansing balm. The instructions on the jar say to just rinse it off but I rinse, pat dry, and then use CeraVe cleansing balm to get all the ointment off. Follow that with micellar water or a mild cleanser to make sure all the oil from the balm is off. No smell, and it still works!
@@MsKainui How do you use it? As a mask? How long do you leave it on before you was it off?
@@halich I follow the instructions on the label. Thin layer, leave on for 10 minutes as a mask.
Suffering with this big time thanks for sharing 🦋
this is exactly what i need this morning thank u doctor :-)
Thank you so much for this 😭 I did so much over stripping of my poor sensitive face thinking I was doing the right thing
I always learn soooo much from you. Mil gracias!! I only wish your depuffer didn’t have niacinamide 😢, my sensitive skin can’t handle niacinamide even though it’s supposed to support with redness?!?!
Also, would you be able to do an anti-aging routine for rosacea/sensitive skin?!?! 💕
I’m a dermatology NP with awful flushing. This video is amazing! I’m scheduled for vbeam next week!🥳 You rock, Dr. Idriss!❤
Amazing!!! Thank you for one more excellent video 🥰🥰🥰
Aw thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed! 🙌
This is so helpful!!!
Hi Dr. Idriss! I'm using aPAD by Geek and Gorgeous for my mild rosacea. More affordable than Paula's choice and more cosmetically elegant than the Ordinary's. Thank you so much for this video. :)
I don't have rosacea but what a great video!! 😊
Genius! Thanks to dr Idriss I got a hold of my constant red dots popping up. I use dandruff schampo (actually daily) and they vanished. 🙌So wish her products were available in Sweden though. She knows what she's doing, for sure!
I just 💗 you and I am soooooo happy that I started following your vids. So helpful THANK YOU
Great vid! Very informative. Love how frank & honest you are. How do you feel about Minocycline?
Thank you for the video and bringing awareness to rosacea. I suffered for years before I went to see a dermatologist and she helped me. A triple compounded cream of ivermectin/ metronidazole/ azelaic acid plus vbeam treatment got mine calm and under control.
Could you tell me the name of the cream you used please??
@@laurahome1588 it was a compounded cream of those three ingredients by prescription from Medrock Pharmacy for $45. The tube just says those three ingredients and the concentration of each.
My dermatologist prescribed this gel for me and it’s a miracle. I think you can get the formula from some of the subscription skincare companies online as well (you probably have to pay for an initial evaluation too). It costs me $49 a bottle and used once a day it will last about 6 weeks. Considering rosacea drugs/treatments usually are NOT covered by medical insurance in the US because it’s “just cosmetic,” this was a very effective and affordable option.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Love from France.

THANK YOU! This helped me a ton. Can you speak to the difference between rosacea and frequent flushing? ❤
I think frequent flushing can lead to rosacea with the constant dilation of the capillaries...
Timely, thank you.
