Another thing that is super amazing for rosacea is Sea Bukthorn. Not many people know about it but it has saved me! My rosacea often makes my skin feel super hot, sometimes to the point of giving me a headache or making me sick. I started taking a Sea Buckthorn supplement daily and now it almost never happens it has also drastically decreased the redness!
Realized by accident that chocolate kept my skin in constant breakouts. I still have vascular roscacea but not breakouts unless I cheat. Also cutting out alcohol has reduced the redness tremendously. The Ordinary Azealic Acid has improved texture as well, especially on my nose. Must use a really good moisturizer with it.
I’ve noticed I have redness after a hot shower or when I’m sick. I thought it was malar rash but it comes and goes throughout the day which leads me to believe it’s rosacea.
I just think the fact that the sun somehow stimulates vein growth in rosacea is WILD. Is tranexamic acid sometimes used? I see that one come up with azelaic acid sometimes but idk if it's just for discoloration or what.

Eucerin night cream has improved my redness. Which is nice, since it is advertised as redness relief. I honestly suspect that the red was going away anyway, and I think it might be due to taking a statin. Correlation/causation, I know, but it seems like since I've been on a statin the redness in my skin has gone way down.
I think i might have type 1. The flushing gets sooo warm and it’s all over my cheeks and chin and ears at times. My eyes get dry if it’s really bad. Certain foods, temperatures and emotions trigger it to an unholy amount. I’m 20 years old.

As a black woman, I was soooo lucky to have a dermatologist smart enough to recognize I had rosacea acne. Other derms just didn’t consider it because my skin is brown and they associate rosacea with white people. Got me on azelaic acid, had me change my diet and switch to non-irritating products-cleared it up within 4 months. I am caramel colored but literally *anything* turns my skin red, even the smell of essential oils. The rosacea diagnosis changed my entire life. @@vibgulati my dermatologist recommended just washing my face with warm water in the morning and vanicream products for moisturizing my body and face. (I wash my face in the evening with a gentle cleanser). If that’s unavailable, even Vaseline works as a moisturizer . She said not to exfoliate because it will irritate my skin. For body wash, she recommended kiss my face olive oil bar soap. It was really about keeping it as simple and natural as possible. @@jedurick minimum down time yes. I will say I had swelling the next day which I didn't with any other lasers. It can feel like burning if they keep going with out small breaks, I just let them know I need a second. Despite the redness and swelling the next day I had the best results with this particular laser.
@@hwalker9322 okay that's good to know beforehand, I feel like a day or so of redness and swelling would be worth it if it helps the rosacea! Now I want to book an appt. Thank you so much!
I wish more you tube videos regarding rosacea would cover Rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis. Lots of us have both and would like to know products to treat both.
It would be amazing if you talked about LED masks for Rosacea. I recently went used light therapy at a dermatologist and I would love to save money and do it at home!
The best thing I did for my skin is get allergy tested through the old school prick test back in march before the pandemic started. I came out positive 33 of 50 allergens. Avoiding my allergens as best as possible and using mineral sunscreen at least twice (daily even indoors) has helped tremedously for my skin issues.
I have the redness AND the pustule rosacea. Yay for me! I have had a hell of a time trying to fix it. So far CeraVe lotions, face wash and Azelic Acid. Seems to be helping me right now.
I'm 33 years old and all my life I fight against rosacea, I need to say that they're completely right, every person is different and all your life will be about testing products and find out what works and what doesn't! I love the tips and the majority of them fit into my skincare routine (which is great btw, I'm glad my rosacea is under control now!)!
I have vascular type roseacea (thankfully, fairly mild). One product that I found really, really improved the redness and overall appearance and feel of my skin is the Purito Galacto Niacin 97 Power Essence. Super gentle, very soothing, and when used consistently very effective. Not very expensive either.
Ivermectin all the way. Honestly doxocyclin in low doses saved me but could not use it continuously (great for flare ups though), so here daily use of ivermectin is great along a simple clean skin routine for my papulopustular rosacea. Thanks for the video guys.
I've had papulopustular rosacea since I turned 40. It was truly horrible. I tried everything my dermatologist recommended and nothing worked. Then I tried Dove sensitive bar soap, apple cider vinegar (like a toner after washing) and cerave moisturizer morning and night. IT WORKS!
Can you do a video on stretch marks and scars please? I've tried loads of products to try to get rid of them but nothing is working :( I'm honestly too embarrassed to see anyone about them
I don't believe you can get rid of stretch marks as they are a permanent structural change in the skin. However, my teenage daughter recently got lots and lots of very red, angry little stretch marks on the inside of her upper arms. I had recently received a sample of a product which claimed to be good for stretch marks - I was going to buy some anyway just because it smelled so lovely - but within just a few weeks of using it, some of her stretch marks have faded to her normal skin colour and the remainder as just are a pale pink. I absolutely can't believe the change and how quickly it's happened (maybe it helped that she hadn't had them for very long and of course she's young so her skin heals and turns over quicker). Anyway, the product is NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Florale Mist 100ml (under £20). I really wish I'd taken before and after photos because the results have been so dramatic for her. If you try it, I really hope it works for you. Good luck!!
You can't get rid of stretch marks. Maybe slightly lighten them but nothing you can do about it unless you pay for laser treatments or have them surgically removed, depending on the area, like some women get a tummy tuck and that removes their entire tummy skin thus getting rid of the stretch marks. But that's about it. It's a genetic thing unfortunately. Some people get them from growing fast during their teen years, others from weight gain where some can gain a bunch of weight or have a baby and not get a single stretch mark. That's genetics 😭
Thank you SO much for this video! This was so helpful. I was wondering why as I am getting older my cheeks are now consistently "flush" or red, whereas it used to only get that way when I went for a run. But now it's here to stay and thanks to you both, I have a better understanding of how to combat it.
Can you do a video on LED light therapy? loved your myth busting video on micro-current technology and I'm curious to hear you break down the science behind LED!
My derm recommended the cetaphil redness wash that has isopropyl alcohol and fragrance 😳 I politely told her I’d stick with my La Roche Posay that is fragrance, soap and alcohol free. Hopefully the prescription cream helps!
One of the most educational channel and certainly the most entertaining one for skincare! Looking forward to your videos every week! Plus your screen chemistry is off the charts 🤣🤣
My main triggers are quite unusual, took me ages to figure that out as it's never mentioned in any rosacea trigger list. I always get a full-blown flush in the mornings when I haven't slept enough or start my morning out stressed (which is almost every day, as I'm not a morning person). In general, my skin condition gets better and better as the day progresses. Also temperature changes, like being outside in the cold and then sitting in a heated car. Spice however, no problem at all. Doing sports in the cold outdoors is a killer for my veins, I always return with a new telangiectasia on my cheek whenever I do that.
my cheeks turn red when I'm in cold, but as soon as get warmer, they would turn BRIGHT red and stay like this for hours. Managing meat department for over a year did not help at all.
Hey Drs, any way you can do a video about how to layer treatment products ? What doesn’t go well with other products? What product go well together? I would love it, I’m sure others would appreciate it as well :)
I have extremely oily skin and rosacea. I have the redness and broken blood vessels as well as the break outs and also the ocular. I have seen a dermatologists and nothing has helped. I have break outs not just my face but on my neck and upper shoulders. The acne are huge bumps and super red and they hurt. Is that normal?
off topic and is probably a silly question I’m only just starting to get into skincare, but is it okay to use the same moisturiser in the morning and at night ?
From what I know it's fine as long as your skin is okay. Gel moisturizers are better for the morning or if you have quite oily skin. Then a thicker cream moisturiser are better for the night or if you have quite dry skin. But if you have a moisturiser that works then you don't have to especially if you have really oily or really dry as it's better to keep to that type of moisturiser
“Avoid anything that anyone with eczema would avoid,” unfortunately I have both rosacea and eczema 🥲 Thankfully, I don’t get eczema on my face, but this is super informative to those who have this condition!
I have both also, Connie! Just an atopic wonderland, aren't we? LOL My eczema is atypical in that it is not "in the creases" like the books always say. I have patches on my hips, my back, and my abdomen.
Thank you, guys, for this helpful video! I've never realised that I have rosacea but it looks like I have a mild case of type 1 rosacea and it's mostly visible around my nose. I definitely don't want to make the matters worse, so this video came up in my recommendations just in time! I was wondering, though, can Azelaic Acid be benefitial for type 1 rosacia, too?
I watched your retinoid video and you guys mentioned at the end that people with rosacea should think twice before using it. I'd love it if you could do a follow up video on other treatments to avoid for differing types of rosacea (i.e. chemical peels? Retinoids? Etc.)
Doesn’t the Cetaphil redness relief have cetearyl alcohol and behenyl alcohols though? Frustrating when products are recommended that contain the very ingredients we’re supposed to avoid. Do you guys look at the ingredients before promoting them? How to trust these guys?
Great video! How do you feel about using chemical peels on rosacea prone skin (specifically the erythematotelangiectatic type)? Are there some you would recommend over others? Thanks!
Great recommendations! My question though is what exfoliating products can rosacea skin use? Finding PHA products without bha/ahas has been difficult. Thank you!
The redness relief Aveeno wash is a good cleanser for rosacea but also oily t zone. I also recommend chamomile and oatmeal products. Helped me a lot. Blue tansy is also a great option
Which of the following acids is better for mild rosacea+ sensitive skin, mandelic or azeliac? The aim here is to improve texture and control inflammation.
They are both ‘acids’ but they do not have the same action. Azelaic acid is better for treating the rosacea, it’s anti inflammatory, and for me it improved texture also. I use it every other day but you can use it up to twice daily. Mandelic is usually a pretty mild exfoliating acid and well tolerated, but it won’t help with the rosacea. I would only use it once or twice weekly.
Such a helpful video! I recently got diagnosed with type 1 and 2 and for anyone struggling with sunscreen, I have to second that the EltaMD UV Clear is amazing!! I actually enjoy putting it on and it soothes my skin. I use the tinted version. I also recommend the Vanicream cleanser and the Neutrogena fragrance free hydroboost extra dry skin gel cream. Not a fun skin condition to have at all and I'm still very much in my journey. Would love a video on the laser options!
My deepest gratitude to you Drs for mentioning sulfur. I've been taking organic sulfur for a few weeks now and my long suffering skin is feeling a lot better. It's reassuring to know that I'm not consuming a product that can cause me harm and it does not cost the earth. I intend to mention your suggestions to my current Dermatologist and once again, thank you so much for your excellent work and free knowledge diffusion!!!! That's generosity at its best.
I’m currently 21 and was diagnosed with type 1 Rosacea when I was only 18! I’m very red, especially after drinking alcohol! So crazy, thank you for this 😭❤️
Yes! I’m 26 and beginning to think I may have rosacea. I’m so very sensitive to any skincare and stay red for a while after application, stay blotchy after working out, and get red immediately when I have alcohol.
Thank you for presenting this topic. I have both vascular and ocular rosacea. I’m more concerned about the latter, as I’m very fond of being able to see. I don’t use perfumed products, and don’t drink alcohol, but I haven’t (yet) given up spicy food.
Hi, doctorly. Your videos are amazing and very helpful. I've been struggling with body eczema for years. I saw dermatologist but the eczema keeps coming back. Can you make a video about how to treat eczema and perhaps how to reduce hyperpigmentation because of it? Thank you in advance 😊❤️
I’ve used every prescription item and they’re somewhat helpful; but they can’t be used continuously and the rosacea eventually returns. The best over the counter or prescription cream is Rosaliac produced by La Roche Posay. The active ingredient contracts capillaries and this stops flushing, bumps, pustules. After 56 yrs I finally have a cream that controls rosacea and allows me to use other active ingredients like vitamin c and retinol. My dermatologist gave it to me - I was very skeptical but it’s a keeper. Daily use required. The best cleanser and moisturiser is Avene antirouges range. Life changing.
I have not only rosacea, but also spider veins and broken blood vessels on my cheeks and nose. I had laser treatment to get rid of them, but it doesn't really helped and I get new ones. Has anyone tips on how to really get rid of them?
it's sad that the part where you talking about Phymatous Rosacea was so short, i wished you gave us more detail and more product recommendation, does it mean that we need to use the same product for the other type of rosacea?
Thanks for sharing, all great info; anytime anyone gets a flare up (type 1) they immediately get asked 'are you ok' cause anyone around you thinks your about to pass out for being so red. I'm a mild case of type 1, prescription meds are harsh on my skin always trying to find more gentler products to use.
Wonderful video! Enjoyed watching this now. This is really helpful for my type 1 rosacea. Not sure if I'm going into the type 2 phase as I have few bumps which appeared. Azelaic acid is a definite winner and I've seen a great improvement with this. I've also been using COSRX Low pH gel cleanser for a couple of months now. Used the CeraVe hydrating cleanser and decided to switch over to COSRX which seems to be more effective for my skin. I'm between moisturisers for my sensitive combination skin. I think I'll try the Cetaphil Pro Redness which you recommended 😁
Recently diagnosed with rosacea. Thank you for this! It's been an adjustment for me. I feel like I have a combo of 1 and 2. I'm not sure if that is common?
You guys are amazing with breaking all the noise down to digestible info! 💖 If I take a coconut charcoal capsule with a drink, it significantly reduces the redness/rash/flush reaction. Definitely NOT an expert here, just a vain/stubborn women whose tried everything to still enjoy my happy hour and not look like I fell into poison ivy! (Side note* charcoal can also absorb any medications or supplements, so take within two hours of anything else.)
I have put sunscreen on my face and it made my face go beet red,I have also struggled with rosacea and skin flushing all of my life, its absolutely a horrible condition to have.
I just want to say THANK YOU!! My husband has been fighting, what I think is, Papulopustular Rosacea. He has seen his primary that diagnosed him with something else and gave him creams that did not help. Because I’ve been doing my research and thankfully stumbled upon you guys, I bought the products you recommend. Those being: Cetaphil redness relief day time and night time moisturizer, Prosacea, and Naturium azeliac acid 10%. His skin has cleared up astonishingly within a month! I wish I could add his before and after pictures on here!
I’ll save everyone time and money. The only way to fully get rid of rosacea is laser treatment that closes up the veins that gives the red blushing look. After consultation with a skin expert she explained that creams and acids only deal with certain symptoms of rosacea and dose nothing to treat the facial redness. Laser treatment costs round about £500-£600 in the area I live.

I went to an aesthetician who rx something called laser genesis and stated that it was great for rosacea and didn't hurt but felt warm and had no down time. Is that what your taking about bc I'm very interested in trying it!
Yes, I also would like to know about the LED settings for Rosacea.
Yes I’d love to hear their opinion about this! I’ve heard great things about the red and amber wavelengths being fantastic in treating Rosacea.
Wonder if they'll do it!!!
I've tried loads of products to try to get rid of them but nothing is working :( I'm honestly too embarrassed to see anyone about them
Please do a video on this
I don't believe you can get rid of stretch marks as they are a permanent structural change in the skin. Good luck!!
You can't erase them because those are scars but you can make them less visible (that's what my dermatologist said), she recommended retinol.
@@karlacastillo6838 💯 correct!
“I get flaming hot everything” - now that’s a mood
You can pry my tapatío hot sauce from my dead cold hands. Thanks for the great information though!
Thank you SO much for this video! This was so helpful. I was wondering why as I am getting older my cheeks are now consistently "flush" or red, whereas it used to only get that way when I went for a run. But now it's here to stay and thanks to you both, I have a better understanding of how to combat it.
Prosacea actually made me turn beet red. I had to stop using it.
I can tolerate it sometimes but not others. Most topicals are like that for me. Its hard to be consistent when i need to rotate products
Can you do a video on LED light therapy? loved your myth busting video on micro-current technology and I'm curious to hear you break down the science behind LED!
As someone who suffers from Rosacea I'm so grateful for this video 😭
My derm recommended the cetaphil redness wash that has isopropyl alcohol and fragrance 😳 I politely told her I’d stick with my La Roche Posay that is fragrance, soap and alcohol free. Hopefully the prescription cream helps!
Yessss!! I’ve been waiting for this one and patiently not buying any products until it was released 🙏🏼
HYPOCHLOROUS ACID KILLS *DEMODEX MITES!* 😃
I totally get this
Hey Drs, any way you can do a video about how to layer treatment products ? What doesn’t go well with other products? What product go well together? I would love it, I’m sure others would appreciate it as well :)
I have extremely oily skin and rosacea. I have the redness and broken blood vessels as well as the break outs and also the ocular. I have seen a dermatologists and nothing has helped. I have break outs not just my face but on my neck and upper shoulders. The acne are huge bumps and super red and they hurt. Is that normal?
I would love to know if you recommend an exfoliant for rosacea skin :)
Love and respect from Pakistan 🇵🇰 ❤
off topic and is probably a silly question I’m only just starting to get into skincare, but is it okay to use the same moisturiser in the morning and at night ?
From what I know it's fine as long as your skin is okay. Gel moisturizers are better for the morning or if you have quite oily skin. Then a thicker cream moisturiser are better for the night or if you have quite dry skin. But if you have a moisturiser that works then you don't have to especially if you have really oily or really dry as it's better to keep to that type of moisturiser
Seriously, I love you guys. Educated, experienced, knowledgeable, funny and gorgeous.
Yeah, I don't drink and I don't do direct sun on my face so you leave my Franks XTRA HOT hot sauce out of this conversation thankyouverymuch.
First 30 seconds and Dr Maxfield is already bringing out the smolders back to back to back.
“Avoid anything that anyone with eczema would avoid,” unfortunately I have both rosacea and eczema 🥲
Thankfully, I don’t get eczema on my face, but this is super informative to those who have this condition!
I have both also, Connie! Just an atopic wonderland, aren't we? LOL My eczema is atypical in that it is not "in the creases" like the books always say. I have patches on my hips, my back, and my abdomen.
Yep, here too, Rosacea on the face, eczema every else!
It’s your immunesystem. Clean your liver and heal your leaky gut.
I have rosacea and I have these friend who keep say “do u have a crush/ like this guy?” Bc they think I’m blushing but I’m like “noooo” 😭🤚
You guys have great personalities for UA-cam. Thanks for another great vid!
Thanks Ana! You're the best!

Great video! How do you feel about using chemical peels on rosacea prone skin (specifically the erythematotelangiectatic type)? Are there some you would recommend over others? Thanks!
Please do a atopic dermatitis video...my skin has been impossible. Love your videos!! Kisses from Perú
Such a huge topic. Would be so good to talk about this!
I am from Poland and I have atopic dermatitis. When I came to the us, the dermatologist didn’t know what I am talking about :(
It seems I have type 1 and 2 both, and ofc there's always this sand feeling in my eyes. Definitely going to visit a dermatologist asap!
Great recommendations! My question though is what exfoliating products can rosacea skin use? Finding PHA products without bha/ahas has been difficult. Thank you!
In another video they recommended the Inkey List PHA, I haven’t bought it yet to try it
The redness relief Aveeno wash is a good cleanser for rosacea but also oily t zone. I also recommend chamomile and oatmeal products. Helped me a lot. Blue tansy is also a great option
I'm so glad you guys give product recommendations!
My Rosacea is at it's best during the summer under the sun (with sunscreen), everyones different 🤷♀️

Suggest something for Indian skin rosacea
I’m currently 21 and was diagnosed with type 1 Rosacea when I was only 18! I’m very red, especially after drinking alcohol! So crazy, thank you for this 😭❤️
Yes! I’m 26 and beginning to think I may have rosacea. I’m so very sensitive to any skincare and stay red for a while after application, stay blotchy after working out, and get red immediately when I have alcohol.
im 18 and have had it for most or even all my life....😭 Rlly affects my self asteem
Alcohol could make you forget the rosacea for a time.
Thank you for presenting this topic. I have both vascular and ocular rosacea. I’m more concerned about the latter, as I’m very fond of being able to see. I don’t use perfumed products, and don’t drink alcohol, but I haven’t (yet) given up spicy food.
Thank you so much Dr Shah and Dr Maxfield especially for recommending the products based on the rosacea types. This is really very helpful for us. ♥️
I can’t tolerate vitamin c and alpha arbutin 😢
Hi, doctorly. Your videos are amazing and very helpful. I've been struggling with body eczema for years. I saw dermatologist but the eczema keeps coming back. Can you make a video about how to treat eczema and perhaps how to reduce hyperpigmentation because of it? Thank you in advance 😊❤️
Get rid of all toxics in food and meds. Clean your liver. Do a MM cleanse, drink Dandelion tea, get your immunesystem healthy
Can you do an in depth video on dry skin and products that help while also treating blackheads and milia and the occasional pimple
FINALLY- I have been waiting for this. Thank you so much.
I have not only rosacea, but also spider veins and broken blood vessels on my cheeks and nose.
I had laser treatment to get rid of them, but it doesn't really helped and I get new ones. Has anyone tips on how to really get rid of them?
Rosacare is AMAZING! I love it along side Aveeno’s Oat Gel Moisturizer.
it's sad that the part where you talking about Phymatous Rosacea was so short, i wished you gave us more detail and more product recommendation, does it mean that we need to use the same product for the other type of rosacea?
