Oil Leak Oversight, How Did The Dealership Miss That?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 лют 2024
- Hey Good People.
I had a very nice Chevrolet Suburban in the shop this past week. There wasn't too much wrong with it. The customer stated that the dealership said she needed some suspension work done, but she needed a second opinion. During my usual courtesy inspection I found something that the dealership shouldn't have missed. - Розваги
I don't know why anyone would not watch you? Your shop is one of the few honest and truthful shops left.
I’m just waiting on the algorithm to pick me 🙋🏽♂️👨🏽🔧
Old fat Dutchman says superb job. You are the best. Honest and hardworking. God bless you and yours. Hope the new employee works as hard as you do.😊
I like Dutch
Everyone let’s share this video and tell your friends, let’s see if we can get the algorithm to pick this hard working honest mechanic up, you deserve it !!
you're a good honest mechanic and person Alex, don't ever change.
I promise you, I won’t! 🫡👨🏽🔧
I like yo style brotha, you’re a smart smooth mechanic , plus i like how you respect your women and how you articulate 🔥
I appreciate it brotha 😎
Excellent diag n repair 👨🏾🔧
That came from New York I can tell by the old registration sticker they used to be on the windshield and the inspection sticker!
Good eye! I wasn’t sure from where but I knew it had to spend time up north!
@@AlexTheCarDoctor Yeah I heard you mention that in the video.
Just did stabilizer end links on a 2004 Dodge Neon next I have to do them on my 2094 Dodge Ram 1500. Nice repair on that suburban…👍👍
Honesty is the best policy
nice job Alex, the owner should have nothing to worry about
Grate job yal u right about everything u say o it was inspected by the dealor there was no leaking before after yal work on it then we noticed leaking
Great video you guys thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
To all appearances, a fine young man, and a good mechanic. I would utilize his services, if he were closer.
Aye man wish you were in Philly, I need to find a mechanic that’s fair and honest
no ticking.... yet
Me and all parties involved ( Alex, and subscribers) to the vehicle in this vid regarding the lifters we will see you soon … real soon
What the hell is this comment thread lol
@@demetriuscaldwell6010 i’m saying, we we all will be seeing this vehicle eventually and hopefully we’ll see Alex do his thing regarding the lifter repairs
Get well my Brotha and keep being your genuine self!!! 🙌🏾🫡✊🏿

Good Job as always 😃

She keeps me in line, I do forget things sometimes 😩😂
Game changer there yes more on showing us the old parts and why the part failed ❤
I gotchu!
nice air freshener Doc
I like your content and your approach. You remind me of my dad's Auto repair business
. His shop was not fancy. But he had a reputation of being honest, fair, and being a good mechanic who would fix the cars correctly. On another note, I love the interaction between you and your wife. You all seem to have a relationship based on love and mutual respect. I work at a dealership now. But I still try to give the same effort that I gave when I worked with my dad and for myself. I can also attest that at dealerships the job is no better or worse than the individual mechanic working on it or supervising it
. Finally, I like that you don't use profanity in your videos. Most mechanics have a reputation of using salty language regularly in real life and in their videos without regard for who may be listening. Be blessed my brother
Thank you. I try to keep my spirit clean and that starts with a clean mouth
@@AlexTheCarDoctor When my dad ran his shop, and when I ran it for a few years after his retirement, we had one elderly customer in particular who’d come by almost daily just to sit and kill time. He said one reason he liked coming by even when nothing was wrong with his vehicles was because daddy and I “didn’t do all that cussing and nasty talk😂”. I wasn’t cut out to actually run a business. But I still enjoyed working on cars. So that’s why I took a job at a dealership. I love the challenge of being able to find and fix problems that other shops and dealerships couldn’t fix. Seeing a happy customer and a properly working vehicle give me a sense of accomplishment.
@@dmandman9 wow it’s nice to talk to someone that thinks like me
Hey Alex that truck must’ve come from NYC because I see where the registration sticker used to be and the inspection sticker is still on the windshield 😂. Old New Yorker sends his regards keep up the good work bruh
Thanks for that… I don’t be knowing. But when I see that rust, I know it’s not from GA 😂
10:38 appreciate what you do not feeling 💯
This guy is awesome, would be grate to work with him
Good man recommend both

I admire your work ethic! A well-operated business. Could you let me know if you are accepting new clients? I am willing to drive to you for a diagnostic of my vehicle.
❤❤❤❤ mrs car doctor isnt for no games she on your head mr Alex lol. And they dont get a cookie it wasn't 100% 😂
She runs a tight ship 🫡😂😂😂
Got to respect it 😂🤣
Definitely upload more bro
Working on it! Got 3 vids in the Que!
I wonder if ppl used Togo to mechanics like I only need 2 or 3 brake pads back in the day 😂 or did they always come in sets since most only want to fix what’s broke because what’s right is always expensive 😊
C ya nxt 📹 ✌️
Sheesh, if you're that slow with "patients" and that fast with turnaround, I should chance driving my 2014 RAM 2500 from PA to get you to do lifters and beefed up cam on my 5.7 Hemi 🤔🤔🤔 But I'm also thinking a thousand mile drive at 75+ isn't gonna help the issue....🙄
Man wish you were in Illinois as to where someone can finally tell me. What the hell is going on as to why the serpentine belt keeps slipping off my car. Chrysler 200 2013 LX even after the water pump has been replaced recently, the tensioner pulley was replaced along with the idle pulleys. Most recent when it came off again the crankshaft seal was replaced. Actually used my street mechanic and haven't taken into an auto shop for a diagnosis
Need to use a laser and check the alignment of the pulleys
Man I wish I could find somebody like you hear up north. From watching your videos I've been telling people to stay away from Kia's, Hyundai's and Dodge's. Oh is your wife doing another car flip video?
I’m trying to get her to do another flip video… she won’t budge.
Alex I have to change my rack and pinion on my 2011 Yukon xl 6.2 should I replace my power steering cooler and pump and hoses since imma be there are just do the rack and pinion
4:03 s/o 2 the wife 😂
Do you have to replace the control arm or can you swap the ball joint?
Would love to see a tutorial on the charger lifter swap
Which one? The 3.6 or Hemi?
Yes sir the 3.6. I just bought an 06 charger with the 3.6 and it has a small lifter kn0ck. It's an old undercover cop car so it was pretty well maintained. But would to see a refresher on the matter. Thank you.
Tell them fir your _am safety folks ❤

Great video! I currently have a 2013 Explorer 3.5 NA. I want to upgrade to a Tahoe/suburban. It would have higher mileage. Do you recommend I stick with my current vehicle?
I have a 2014 Explorer and love it. Mine has 180k on it. I fix my own stuff, and I went through it when I bought it last year. The expensive items on them to repair are water pumps, transfer cases, and catalytic converters. The 2015+ Tahoe/Suburbans are money pits.
Unless you’re talking about the 06 and under or pre DOD displacement on demand system stick to what you have or keep it ford or Lincoln
@@AlexTheCarDoctor thanks for the recommendation!
@@mph5896 water pump was replaced June 2023 due to leaking. Along with timing chains and a bunch of other parts since they were in there. Anything suspension related I do myself.

I usually call it the ever since syndrome. Ever since you worked on my car it does this now. lol
😂 please allow me to use that one 😂😂
Car Doc, from your experience, what year Escalade has the most reliable engine?
Honestly, the early 2000’s. Like 2006 and under. Any one that doesn’t have the DOD system. Unfortunately the newer ones look cooler but they give lots of problems But the older ones are more reliable.
@@AlexTheCarDoctor thanks brother.
Which cars or trucks out of your experience in your shop had the most transmission or engine issue
The one in the video lol it’s back. Her transmission is now going out. 😞 but here’s my list:
GM full size trucks 2015 and up (Cadillacs, suburban and Yukons)
NISSANS and anything that uses Nissan CVT like Dodge and Mitsubishi
Honda Odyssey’s around 2016 but could arguably be due to lack of maintenance though.
The older Chevy Impalas
@@AlexTheCarDoctor because I’m looking for a car lol and doing all the research I can while watch these repair videos lol

16:27 TIPS
“I don’t know how the dealership missed that.” (15 seconds earlier) “I can’t tell where it’s coming from because of all the oil but it’s usually the oil cooler gasket. I like starting with easy stuff before I look into bigger repairs.” All I hear is I’m gonna diagnose it by throwing parts at it.
Hold on. The end of the video his wife really says it’s so bouncy after doing a suspension repair 😮. Also, at what point are you going to bring up an alignment.
Did you NOT go along with my diagnostic process in the video? I am literally talking out loud while I do my discovery. And my wife was referring to parking lot we were driving in, NOT the suspension of the truck. Alignment was taken care of. Not everything is mentioned in my videos all the time. Chill….
@@AlexTheCarDoctor I’m not trying to be a troll. I’m just showing that trying to put dirt on other shops is not the way unless they are seriously proven scammers and you have evidence. People can pick you apart just as easily if they are not just a DIY’er. I did say it is hard to keep up with your diags and why. I’ll give you I misunderstood the bumpy parking lot but that made me realize. You would need a strong left turn to get the noise on the driver side stab link, unless you’re bouncing. Stab links stop the car from rolling. You would need the left turn or the bumpy road. You started to mention it’s just the start and there are usually bigger problems. It is very odd to see one stab link snapped with no other major damage. Lastly, I
Noticed you said this came back in for the trans. You said in the comment you know these GM’s have issues. You can clearly see the oil residue is above the cooler gasket. The cooler lines start at the exact point of your leak and are covered in oil worse upwards where it start which is right where the leak is. The metal line after the plastic section is wayyyyy cleaner. The biggest leak on the GM’s is the rear main seal. It is right there to leak on the filter and the lines plus its back for trans work. Again I’m coming off rude but that’s the vibe you give off straight up giving out shop names and it can be done just as easily to you. Stating the vehicle needs an alignment is one of the most important aspects for the DIY’er to understand. From now on I’m just in the comments for tips and compliments unless you go rogue and started going back alley which I doubt.
Can’t stand Chevy dealerships , I have a matt bowers around me and they’ll charge you 2 different diagnostic fees if you have something internal or external, it’s ridiculous. $150 for a diagnostic fee, and they don’t even check everything I know for a fact, my tires worn the paper came back and said that they were ok. I also drive a 2017 Chevy suburban. It’s hard to trust dealerships and find great mechanics
The thing is when u inspect vehicles or make the customer aware of an obvious issue some customers get really defensive thinking you are just trying to upsell something. Listen if I sell it I make more money that’s true but mam or sir your car is literally about to fall apart.
It’s like I’m damned if I do, and damned if I don’t. Some customers think I’m trying to scam if I do the courtesy inspection, and then I just got accused of not “diagnosing” the vehicle properly because I didn’t do the courtesy inspection because the engine was shot and there was no reason for me to do one so….
@@AlexTheCarDoctor I know exactly what you are talking about. It's a double edged sword.
You don't believe in dye
I tried it once,I’m not a fan of dye. My method works best

My wife is very much apart of my channel as I am. She will talk and record. If you don’t like that then, this ain’t the channel for you …
@@AlexTheCarDoctorlol my bad big guy. Love your channel
I appreciate it boss. That’s my queen 👸🏾
Those kinds of problems at 60k miles? Why are American cars built so horribly smh.
That's nothing My friend just had to put in a rear cradle crossmember in a 9-year-old Nissan Altima! My grandparents also had a '90s Camry and the rear axle completely broke all way from the frame not due to rust but a defect I find this more in Asian Japanese vehicles than anything. I have a 7-year-old Chrysler 200 and she's mint.
