  • Hey Good People,
    I told you guys in the last A/C video that it's starting to heat up outside and that I'd be getting a lot more A/C Work in the shop. I see a lot of these Chevy Silverados in the shop for this same issue. I don't doubt that I will be doing tons more this summer. Follow me along as I trace down the leak and diagnose the A/C Problem. This is also a carshield claim, so let's see if they are going to approve it.
    Comment your 2 cents below! I love hearing from you guys. And to all my fellow technicians that are better than me at A/C don't hesitate to leave me some tips and tricks I can use to get better! I greatly appreciate it. I hope you enjoy the video.
    Your favorite Mechanic,
    Alex

    alex, get a uv light as most a/c systems have uv dye which glows yellow when theres a leak. that way you can visually see where the leak is along with the sniffer. great vid as usual. keep us the great work, both of you. i really enjoy the interaction between you two when the wifey is behind the camera giving commentary while you do what you do. great team!!!

    The transmission service is a must on these trucks. He will benefit greatly by installing the temp by pass kit in the transmission cooler block. These Transmissions run at 200 degrees when up to temp. The kit will cut it down by 50 degrees.

    Alex I loved the way you went over this mans truck, great to let him know what is coming, I do not put pressure on my customers, I leave that to the rip off guys, but that oil cooler line is something I would go high pressure on, those crimped hoses on GM trucks will fail at the worst time, like 75 MPH on the interstate when they are really hot, could wipe out bearings, I love my customers like I love my kids, you do not want this veteran to need an engine replacement, PUT THE HIGH PRESSURE ON, LOL!!!

You are also an example of you and your wife being each others best friend and becoming one because she is supportive and respectful towards your profession! Forgive me for my rant, I just wanted to know I respect, appreciate, and enjoy your content! Thank you again brother Alex for making us techs look better and honest mechanics!

    hello Alex and Shon, I do not know what the yf stands for , I was told it is just a marketing name, the 1234 is also a marketing name that means this new refrigerant is compatable with both R12 and R134, so toping off a 1234yf system with R134 will not damage anything, just have to make your own adapters, or recharging a 1234yf system with R134 is also ok, the EPA will not bother you, next year the 1234yf will be mixed with 10% R134 to reduce the flamability, R134 is not flamable 1234yf is, and is becoming a concern I am not an expert on this just wanted to share what I knew about it, love you guys!!!

    Hi there. Just found your channel and you guys are awesome at teaching. I wish your shop was near us. We recently had our transmission rebuilt on our 2017 Silverado and when we picked up the truck, the AC was no longer working. We were told there’s no way the AC was messed with while working on the transmission. We now have to pay to have the AC fixed and I’m wondering if that is in fact true. I don’t mind paying for the wear and tear, I just I don’t know if they needed to and are now charging us to fix their mistake. Any advice will help a lot!!!

    • @AlexTheCarDoctor
      @AlexTheCarDoctor  19 днів тому +1

      Typically, The A/C system doesn’t have to be touched to work on the transmission. Especially with your truck. They should have been mainly working underneath the truck while the A/C System is under the hood. There was no need for them to go under the hood to do any work. It could just be a coincidence. It does happen sometimes. Even to me. Please let me know what they say is wrong with the A/C and I’ll see if that sounds far fetched or not.

      @@AlexTheCarDoctor thank you for responding. They told us that it’s a coincidence. And seems there a hose that has a leak. Crazy thing is now today we got the check engine light turn on and it’s marking the catalyst converter sensor and the notification for tire traction is on while on park. Could this all be related to the removal and reinstallation of the transmission. The engine is now shaking so drastically. I don’t know what to do. Please advice!
