How To Enable Stereo Mix - 100% Works!

- This is a guaranteed way to enable Stereo Mix on any Dell computer. For some reason or another, Dell decided to disable Stereo Mix and have it unable to record. Using regedit, however, you can re-enable it and have it fully working. Time after time again I have failed at trying at completely enabling Stereo Mix, but this time, I have succeeded.
Pass this video along to friends, or anyone you know who has this problem. Lots of people are screwed out of several hundred dollars because of what Dell has done, and spend another several hundred dollars investing in alternative methods to record from Stereo Mix.
Thank you, I hope I helped people with this video, and if it doesn't work, I'm sorry, you have been seriously screwed over and given a sound card that is completely incapable, damage which can't be undone by registry values. That's Dell for you.

This really works ,, Darn you are the Best for posting this. Everyone that has a Dell computer needs to follow these instructions. I've tried to record myself singing on many sites and won't work until I did what this upload says,,,, I'm soooooo happy.
STEPS (Thank you for this info)
Stereo Mix How to Enable on Dell Computers
Start>Run regedit (hit Enter)
Control+F=Find what: EnableInputMonitor
Wait for search to complete
Modify Binary Data and change the 00 to 01
Right click folder
Select “New…Binary Value”
Name it DigitalInputMonitor
Modify its value to 01
Create another registry, name it
DigitalStereoMix
Modifly its value to 01
Find
MasterControlsIndependentMixerInputs
Modify its value to 00
Restart computer
Launch your preferred audio recording program
And select Stereo Mix as the input device and record!
I figured it out and now have stereo mix and just tried playing/streaming music in PalTalk and it worked. All I did was delete the DigitalInputMonitor and did the rest u said and it worked! Yay! Thanks. :)
P.S. I even emailed Dell and told them off! They are such nit wits!
You guys dont have to do all that. I just went to my recording devices, right clicked, clicked on "Show disabled deviced" then clicked stereo mix and enabled it. YOU CAN DO THAT!! Thumbs up if it worked

Wish I could find a way to do this on a Compaq computer (registry entries mentioned in the vid are not present.) Been reading on this subject for several hours now and getting frustrated. Just about at the point where I want to go burn down the RIAA, Microsoft, and possibly several computer manufacturers. The retarded part is, this does NOT stop people from stealing music. It DOES prevent people like myself from manipulating audio in other, legal manners. Fuck this bullshit.
thanks - got the stereo mixer and input but subjectlivly its clipping badly as if a first audio stage is overdriven - is that a driver problem? how do I fix it so its usable?

It turns out, the version of sigma tel audio doesn't let me enable stereo mix..... (or at least I can't find a yt tut Dx)
I have done all that you have explained in this video but nothing has changed ... How is this possible?
Update: I downloaded and installed the XP version of my driver for my pc and I have stereo mix but my problem is that I am not getting any sound at all thru my speakers. When I try to play a MP3 with WMP it says it encountered a problem. Also when I try to configure my speakers it says "Failed to play test tone." So is there a solution to this? If so, please tell me. Thanks.

I've been trying to get this to work for about 5 hours now and this didn't work either.. Do you know any other programs then Audacity I can use for recording sound off my computer without needing Stereomix?
What if you don't find EnableInputMonitor and MasterControlsIndependentMixerInputs in the registry? Do you know of any other solution?
I have a DELL XPS410 that has a SigmaTel sound card. It came with Vista, but now has Win7 Pro 32bit. I've added the binary registry entries, and modified as described in the video. Like Specter99, I did not have MasterControlIndependentMixerInputs so I added it. I didnt have a "rear" directory, but my entries are in SpeakerHP. Unfortunately this doesnt seem to be working for me. Anyone else have a similar issue that you've gotten working? Thanks
This fix didn't work for me. Please could send me this stripped down driver that you are using. I'm currently using the latest drivers from dell on my Dimension C521

My Dell Vostro 200 with XP does not detect EnableInputMonitor in the regedit. I've been recording for years using stereo mix and now it's gone. Have had realtek HD for at least 3 years. Don't know what to do other than continue searching

There's a new software available that enables the stereo mix on ALL soundcards under XP, Vista and 7. Just google 'DDMF virtual audio stream' and give it a try, it's great...
i have no MasterControlsIndependentMixerInputs. Noo idea where it is, i searched all of the Masters and couldnt find it! idk what to do reply if anyone knows
I tried this and when I typed EnableInputMonitor nothing came up. :( I have a Dell E521 with Vista Premium 32-Bit with a SigmaTel driver. Does this mean I have to buy a sound card? Or is there something else I can do in the registry? I hope someone can help me please!

so i created it, and i modified the inputs as said, restarted my computer, and there is no change,
