    Good idea, maybe some enterprising 3D printer expert might be able to make an adapter to fit perfectly onto the Bobo with the magnets attached where you can velcro strap similar batteries to it while protecting the Bobo contact points.

      Let me know if you want any pointers or anything as you start using it. It's a great headset, and there are things that might help you as you start using for the first time. Will this be your first VR headset in general?

      @@jollyjulian I should have been more specific there, I was meaning the 3D printer. Have one of those showing up today to play with. Was wanting one for a while (kinda like the VR thing as well) so going to maybe play with some drone things and thinking of trying to make a set of those SlimeVR trackers.
      Though the Quest 3 is also my first but I'm doing ok there got it when it first came out and had the BoboVR ordered as soon as it was available, other than the normal'ish motion sickness stuff that I'm trying to get over.

    • @jollyjulian

      Oh, fantastic! I'd love to hear how your 3D printer goes, and if you find a way to improve upon the system in this video with that! Please feel free to share! And, glad you're enjoying the headset. It really is fantastic for the money. Great headset, in my opinion. As for motion sickness, a couple recommendations, if you don't already know them. If you start feeling uncomfortable at all (queezy, hot, headache) stop playing right away. DON'T TRY TO PUSH THROUGH IT. Take a good break from it, then try again another time, and you'll probably be able to go a little longer. As you do that more and more, you'll probably get more used to it, and before you know it, you have your "VR LEGS." Also, play games where your character doesn't move much. Stationary games, watching movies, things like that. Then, do the occasional moving game for a bit as well. That can help. Have a great rest of the week!

    I built my own elite Battery strap! I combined a broken Quest 2 elite battery strap with the new arms from a cheap Quest 3 strap. I stripped away the broken arms from the Quest 2 strap leaving just the battery section, then I stripped down the 30 dollar Quest 3 strap so I could use the new shaped arms, put it back together and it works a treat!

      This is great - love the repurposing of the Quest 2 elite strap. I'm not usually much of a DIY person, but when it comes to VR, I'm all about finding better but cheaper ways to do things. Keep it up, my friend!

    Cool little diy solution. I found an alternative solution to the bobo b2 battery system. I was looking for something hot swappable and could be mounted to the side of a kiwi or elite for use lying down. Found the freethink hotswappable magnetic battery bank. Has 5000mah modules and can use one or two modules together. My order hasn't arrived so may be a little early to celebrate but looks promising.

    i am using a similar solution like i did with my Quest 2. Since i am not a big fan of the Bobo VR headstraps i use a different and cheaper one and put a ANKER 10.000 maH 533 PD powerbank at the back fixed with some velcro straps. Usually those 10.000maH powerbanks have effectively around 6000 to 6500maH, which lasts for a couple of hours in addition to the internal battery. Althouigh i am still looking for a 10.000 PD powerbank with charge passthrough option. I have found some 5000maH powerbanks, but none of the 10.000 maH ones work. Also they need to have a small size, which is more thick than flat to make them attachable to the headstrap back. But other than that, the solution works pretty well.

    I had the same thought these days and i putted a 10000 mah power bank in the back of the head strap. The power bank worked but the main problem is that it drained up fast, if you only have 20 watt of energy output you're gonna consume it fast. So i decided to go for 75 or 100 watt power banks with bigger voltage to avoid to drain the power bank fast and i doubled the mah to 20000, you should also paid attention to the Quest 3 overheatng

    • @jollyjulian
      @jollyjulian  7 місяців тому

      There is a balance there for sure - how did that 20000mah battery work for you?

    • @redpanda84
      @redpanda84 7 місяців тому

      @@jollyjulian I noticed small overheating issues with a 100 watt power bank , i read the Quest 3 battery is smaller than 5000mah so i think that regular 20 or 65 watt power banks with 10k or 20k mah are the best. The sad thing about this visor is that it came out with a smartphone battery that's not big enough for the things it has to do, i watched a video where this guy dismantled all the Quest 3 and i found out the battery is technically replaceable but there are many parts to remove before reaching it. I made a factory reset and came back to the standard charger included in the box,i was a bit scared at first because it was draining up fast and charging slowly but now it's all back to normal.

    This idea came to my mind. What happens if, in addition to using the Q3, you connect the battery from the M3 to an external PowerBank. It can be carried in your pocket on a long cable. In this case, the M3 battery will not discharge as quickly.
    Of course, it is better to buy a few more of these additional batteries, but they are quite expensive, and the PowerBank can be large in capacity and you may already have one.
    I can’t check it yet, since I ordered both the Q3 and M3 and will receive them only after the New Year.

    • @jollyjulian

      A great question, and I would not recommend that. I thought something similar, but most things I've read have said they do not recommend using the battery while it is "in use" charging the headset. Could lead to issues. However, a powerbank in your pocket can work on its own,a nd connect that directly to the Quest 3. Hope tha helps! Thanks for the comment, and have fun VRing!

      @YGershteyn 7 місяців тому +1

      @@jollyjulian This is true, but on the other hand we charge the Q3 battery from the external M3 battery while it is running. I have not found any contraindications for this.

    • @jollyjulian
      @jollyjulian  7 місяців тому

      That's fantastic - yes, get that power out of it, and it can do both. Quest 3 is definitely more of a "power hog" than the Quest 2, but that's to be expected. Great idea with the 30w!

      @@ugmack20 it's a 64w battery pack with a 30w USB-C output I bought it on Amazon and I bought a battery pack holder on Etsy long time ago for my Quest 2 you just need something that outputs at around 30w to charge and play your headset. On the quest 2 any old battery pack would work the quest 3 charges at 18w when it's off when it's on the power output is going to be higher

  • @MrLordbeavis
    @MrLordbeavis 7 місяців тому

    You're using the wrong battery by anker you should be using the 533 The reason why is because the 533 is able to put out up to 30 w and those magnetic connectors are not good for higher powered charging so you need a regular right angle USBC to USBC cable that can handle up to 30 Watts

    • @StancedInertia9
      @StancedInertia9 7 місяців тому

      isnt 30w too much for the usb C port to handle? I've seen a few posts about ports melting. This was the case especially for the quest 2 and I've seen a few quest 3s have the same issue. wouldnt capicity be more important than wattage?

    • @jollyjulian
      @jollyjulian  7 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for this, and yes, I was figuring there might be an even better way to get more watts for power with different batttery and connector. The next version I do, I'll have to experiment with some of what you suggested here. Thanks much!

    It is hacking that you buy another strap? Then I HACKED it too, but I bought an AUBIKA strap with 8.000 mAh battery. And it can charge the inside battery during gameing. 😉 (With no battery sound like the BoboVR does)

    • @jollyjulian
      @jollyjulian  7 місяців тому

      Totally a fair comment - I kind of look at it like a HACK of an accessory, but also, I feel like about 70% or more of what is covered here can work even if someone doesn't get an after-market headstrap. One of the first things I did when I got my Quest 2 was to use velcro to strap an external battery on the back for counter-weight, then run a short USB-C cable to the headset for extra power. A lot of the same things we're talking about here. But this one worked so well with the magnets, due to the BoboVR M3 headstrap. And I haven't had that strange Battery "HISS" that people talk about with my Bobovr2 M3. None at all. Interesting! Thanks for the comment!

    Why not just strap a bigger battery to back of your pants belt and run a magnetic usb c cable to the headset. No needs to buy anything else. Just make sure you tighten the belt enough so your pants won’t drop during a gaming session….😁😁

    • @jollyjulian
      @jollyjulian  6 місяців тому +1

      You bet - that is an option, or just putting one in your pocket with a cable running down your side - totally doable, and I've done that before as well. The additional reason I like having it on the back of the headset is the COUNTER-BALANCE aspect of it - taking weight off the front of the headset, and making it more comfortable overall. But a good additional suggestion for sure!

    • @swifty1969
      @swifty1969 6 місяців тому

      thanks! battery in the pocket works to but in order to play very long sessions, you need one of those big heavy batteries like 40k mah or larger ones. Or you can strap three batteries on your belt and have a magnetic usb c tips attached to each batteries usb c port. And when one runs out, you can quickly magnetically attach your cable to the next battery. @@jollyjulian
