ASP Light-less gel is only concentrated nail glue. I used to use it years ago until I looked at the ingredients list & realized what it was. It definitely holds much better than regular nail glue, but if someone doesn’t have the gel on hand, they can use nail glue. They will just have to use more layers of glue to get the same strength in hold. They would also have to let each layer dry entirely between layers. ASP light-less is a huge time saver, of course.

i love this video! question: i have a nail break that is identical to yours but i only have a base coat and top coat gel polishes. how might you recommend i replicate this?
Thanks so much for sharing this! Great repair! Lovely nails 💅 I broke a nail last week and had to file all my long nails down (lost the nail). 😢 I just found a bad spilt and need to fix it before it tears all the way down to the nail bed -ouch! I'm out of nail glue and was wondering if I could use gel polish to fix it (gotta get some of that gel you have.) Can I use my UV light to cure instead of the spray?
I haven't ever used gel polish for a repair but I think it would work very similarly. It's a lightless gel so I'm not sure if it would react to the light or not - I haven't tried it with my own lamp which is an LED lamp.
@@MSLP I actually just did it and it worked pretty well! The split bonded after 2 coats of base gel, then cure, polish, then top coat. I put an extra coat on the split just to be safe. Cured for 60sec between each.
Fascinating! Now I'm just curious: I know you have a UV lamp now and UV reactive gel products. Do you prefer to use this type of gel that's spray cured for the repairs?
I do - partly because I find it easier to remove than UV gel. The couple times I did a UV mani without a peel off base coat, I had to soak for a really long time to get it off. This kind isn't really worse than a stubborn glitter polish
This product cured with a spray, it's been discontinued now so I don't know if there are other similar products that cure this way. I don't think the spray would work on just any random gel.
i just put on fake nails, and i also always keep my nails short as heck, so i have no clue why i’m watching this. but i mean hey maybe itll help me in the future!!! plus it’s super interesting
Heads up - hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like these ASP products are being/have been discontinued. The Amazon links in this video are no longer working (one is broken completely & the other shows the product is out of stock and they don't know when or if it will be restocked). And to make matters worse, Sally has removed the individual gel & spray from their website all together, and put the kit on clearance. (Granted, it's a great price, but I hate what that seems to indicate.) Not sure what's up, but I just bought the gel & spray at Sally around Memorial Day so whatever is happening it is very recent. Thought you'd want to know.....get it while you can!! Best of luck & thanks for all you share with us, Colette!! Keep 'em coming!
Thanks! I had a comment on one of my other vids saying the same thing yesterday so I actually ordered some to stick up. ASP appears to actually be Sally's brand and the polishes are also buy 2 get 1 free so I wonder if they're ditching the whole line, or maybe rebranding
@@MSLP I noticed that as well about the polishes. (Although they all seem to be on sale, so...) Here's hoping it's not permanent & we'll still have a comparable product when it's all said & done. Also, since I don't have the experience with this system that you do, I wanted to ask if you think it's safe to stock up or if that runs the risk of the stuff going bad? Am I misremembering or didn't you tell us in one of the vids that each set lasts quite a while?? As always, thank you for everything!!
@@lifeandrandomness1868 the gel can tend to get a bit thick when it's older, but I'm not sure if that's due to the age or due to the time spent being open. How long it lasts really depends on how often you need to patch by my current set has lasted me over a year
I was wondering if you make a video on the best ways to cap your nail with regular polish as well as gel polish? I have short nails but I always seem to make a mess even though I still use a brush & acetone to clean up, it is mainly with gel polish
do you mean like wrapping the tips? I usually just swipe the edge with the brush, but it can be harder on shorter nails. I don't know if I'll ever do a video just on that since I show it in every vid.
Have you considered adding gel to your natural nails as a protective layer? I do this with my big toes as I get vertical splits. Maybe try it out next time you have a trip.
I've considered it, I actually did it for one trip a few years ago, but you lose flexibility as it makes your nails much harder and in some cases more likely to break
I use led builder gel. Glue if it's broke off. Otherwise do a gel overlay over & under the nail for extra strength. I just did this. Am getting ready to do the no cleanse topcoat over it. I broke both sides but the middle was still hanging in there. Plus it's one of my bowling fingers so I have to keep an overlay over them anyway. Which is probably why the nail wasn't completely gone. Lol
Well, I'm still wearing this one, so it's been about a month & I think I've added another layer of gel twice. I add a layer (after filing a bit of the existing repair down) if it gets rough around the edges or if I start to notice cracks on the surface
I tend to get tiny splits ar the quick of my right thumb now. It is either the hypothyroidism or the psoriatic arthritis. It is too close to the quick to clip. So I let it grow until I can safely cut my nail down. Do you think I could use this method to strengthen it so it won't tear prematurely?
yes - I get little tears on my thumbs frequently. What I do is apply a little gel and very gently with an orange stick kind of lift the split section so the gel can get in there, then press it back in place and cure it
I actually usually get mine from Sallys. I usually link Amazon because not everyone has a Sallys near them, hopefully they should get it back in stock soon also
My Simple Little Pleasures thanks 4 responding...i do have a Sally's so I'll check there. I usually dont attempt to repair my nails. I've never used the orly product, so I'm not sure how they'd work together, but it's certainly worth a try. Any kind of remover should be fine for polish, but for removing the patch I recommend 100% acetone

I could try and see but I thought your experience with using this product may have a better view so I don’t ruin my patches Thanks for help!
I use the products you recommend, but the gel cracks once I wash my hands or shower no matter how long I wait. Doesn't matter if I use silk wrap it not. Do you have any advice on how to keep this from happening?
I've done the gel thang and it kept getting cracks it within a few days, sometimes the day after It would do them, have any ideas why it would do that?
exposure to water can cause it, so you may want to add a clear coat even if you're not doing a full manicure. I've also a couple times just had what seemed like a bad bottle of gel, and just needed to replace it
@@mobettaisbetta Use a *thin* coat and then spray from 6 inches away just a couple of times for a fine mist to activate. More/thicker at once is *not* better. Be patient. If you need additional coats, apply the same way. Seal with a thin brush on coat of nail hardener that is a base coat.
I do have a video on making a tip extension with patching products - I wouldn't recommend it for a lot of length but if you just want to get it more even with your other nails it might work.
Every time I use the ASP Lightless Gel it cracks - no, actually more like shatters - within a day or two. I have no idea why it does that. It is beyond frustrating, especially after spending so much time sculpting it out and then doing nail art on top. Does that ever happen to you, Collette? Or anyone here in the comments section have this problem besides me?
it has happened a few times - usually if I don't paint my nails when I'm done, and if they're exposed to a lot of water. Once I also had what just seemed like a bad bottle of gel - every time I used it, it cracked and I eventually replaced it
My Simple Little Pleasures :) Thank you for your input. This last time it happened, it was a brand new bottle. I used it on each of my thumbnails - and both looked like cracked glass, a few days later. I'll try it one more time as you suggested. Hopefully it's not a dud! Thanks again for your help.

where are you looking? The amazon links that I initially include do tend to eventually expire, but I know that Sally's still stocks the ASP lightless gel & spray, although last time I ordered I had to buy the kit as they no longer sell them separately.
I've been using it for a few years - there's an amazon link in the information box (although a few people have reported it's currently sold out) and it's also available from Sallys
thanks for the heads up - I've unfortunately had that happen before but it can be really hard to track down sometimes to file a copyright claim against them, especially with ads.

you can use normal polish remover, but it will shorten the life of the patch more than non-acetone remover.
I use the products you recommend, but the gel cracks once I wash my hands or shower no matter how long I wait. Doesn't matter if I use silk wrap it not. Do you have any advice on how to keep this from happening?
Omg your profile pic lmao
I'm wondering the same, happens to me all the time.
I have that problem too
Selina Kyle my patches may only last at best one week. I always have to redo them with each manicure
Selina Kyle use gloves when doing any cleaning.
I couldn't tell, did you butt it up or overlap the nail when you reattached it?
It was an uneven break, so I overlapped the area that naturally overlapped, but not any extra
My Simple Little Pleasures You do say that you press where it overlaps, I didn't catch that the first time. Thanks for clarifying it for me.
The gel cure spray that you linked says it is currently unavailable to purchase.
hopefully they get it back in stock soon - it's also available at Sallys if you have one near you
What kind of Gel you used? Can you please let us know the name of it. TX
the name is included in the product list in the information box
I've done the gel thang and it kept getting cracks it within a few days, sometimes the day after It would do them, have any ideas why it would do that?
Because of water
How do I stop it from doing this?
exposure to water can cause it, so you may want to add a clear coat even if you're not doing a full manicure. I've also a couple times just had what seemed like a bad bottle of gel, and just needed to replace it
I've added a base coat 2-3 of polish and sech veet top coat and it still does it.
*Amazing...*
Same middle finger mine broke & lost it & I don't know what to do 😢
I do have a video on making a tip extension with patching products - I wouldn't recommend it for a lot of length but if you just want to get it more even with your other nails it might work.
@@MSLP thank you. For the replying back to me. I was wondering can just let grow out I really don't want to cut the rest of them off
@@Flakucha_305 yes, you could just let it grow out on its own as long as it doesn't bother you they're not even - nails grow pretty fast
@@MSLP can send you DM my name there is Flskucha_305
@@Flakucha_305 Sorry I don't really do DMs but you can feel free to ask any other questions here
nice!!
Thumbs up! Thanks for sharing. TTYL, my friend. ~~~~Tina

Super...❤
Which thing u use to fix is it a nail fixing glue?
Thanks
Ugh! I’m two years late to the party and now the product is unavailable 😢
where are you looking? The amazon links that I initially include do tend to eventually expire, but I know that Sally's still stocks the ASP lightless gel & spray, although last time I ordered I had to buy the kit as they no longer sell them separately.
But it’s not gonna grow with the sticked on nail right?
the nail continues to grow normally (why wouldn't it?)
My Simple Little Pleasures oh lol!
Fleek Smith, your nail is formed from the bottom/base end of your nail and grows up.
uummmm 'cure spray' please when did that happen, where can i get some pleeease
I've been using it for a few years - there's an amazon link in the information box (although a few people have reported it's currently sold out) and it's also available from Sallys
Why not do all of the tips before they break?
the gel can make nails brittle and actually more likely to break
Your video is being used on a Pinterest ad for a repair gel that definitely isn’t what you actually used in the video
thanks for the heads up - I've unfortunately had that happen before but it can be really hard to track down sometimes to file a copyright claim against them, especially with ads.
