    THIS SYSTEM WORKS AWESOME!!! It is a Godsend!!! Thank you so much Colette!!! Finally my nails look normal again. When I was using super glue with tea bag patches my nails looked horrid and unnatural. Not to mention they lost their ability to be strong in the C curve to prevent more breakage. I had to continually re-patch the same nails as the base of the nail at the quck would break again because of the stiffness of the superglue tea bag patch.This new technique you showed us, has actually kept the stability of my nails AND I was able to sculpt parts of some of my nails ,which were missing using the gel and tea bags. I am so very grateful to you Colette! Thank you again.

    ASP Light-less gel is only concentrated nail glue. I used to use it years ago until I looked at the ingredients list & realized what it was. It definitely holds much better than regular nail glue, but if someone doesn’t have the gel on hand, they can use nail glue. They will just have to use more layers of glue to get the same strength in hold. They would also have to let each layer dry entirely between layers. ASP light-less is a huge time saver, of course.

      missmemssme Thank you for this as I'm having difficulty in purchasing the products as I'm not qualified I can't get them from a warehouse and most of these products won't be shipped so thinking what alternatives I can use. Annoying to have to keep fixing every nail polish change..im currently using silk wrap and nail glue...sometimes I add Orly repair makes it a bit sturdy but pain to get off when it starts cracking!

      Thanks for the tip! I've never looked closely at the ingredients - I wonder if the spray would work on normal glue? Although I think the thick consistency of the gel helps also

      @@ValJanela No. "Superglue (or Krazy Glue, etc.) is based on cyanoacrylate monomers, i.e. individual molecules, which will polymerize into a poly-acrylic (commonly named simply acrylic) during the “gluing process” through a combination of humidity (from the air while you applying it) and pressure. This is what gives it its unique property (very short set time, very strong bond) compared to other glues that are based on polymers, i.e. molecules which are already bonded to each other when you buy it, and will only solidify through evaporation, a much slower process than cyanoacrylate polymerisation.
      On the other hand, “nail glue” describe any glue that will provide a bond strong enough to that it could replace nails. There is no specific chemistry for nail glue so the properties varies a lot more than in cyanoacrylate glues. Nail glue could be based on cyanoacrylate monomers (i.e. similar to Superglue without the price of the brand name), acrylic (already polymerized before you apply it), latex, and probably others.
      From a practical point of view:
      For tight fitting interfaces, like a clean fracture or two perfectly flat surfaces, it s hard to beat cyanoacrylate glues (Superglue and other brand names), because cyanoacrylate polymerize in the joint instead of polymerizing before the bottle of glue. With other glues, since the polymerisation happens before the two surface are jointed, it will fill the gaps with a stronger polymer but will not provide timesheets as much as they should, but I answer they are busy sometime,
      For fractures where some pieces have flown away, leaving empty gaps, or for irregular surfaces, a pre-polymerised glue will be better as it will not have weak points (or long setting time) in areas where there is no pressure applied. Acrylic based “nail glue” will create a joint similar to cyanoacrylate, i.e. a strong adhesion on most surfaces but a rigid, brittle joint. Latex based nail glue will be more compliant (flexible) and, in case your joint will experience some flexing constraint, more durable. Nail glues can also be based on other chemicals but, for us, average mortals. acrylic and latex “nail glue” seems to be the easiest to find.
      However, since their invention in the 40s, and especially since Loctite acquired the rights (Superglue is from Loctite), many “flavor” of cyanoacrylate glues has been developed, mostly to overcome some the original drawbacks of the original cyanoacrylate such as being so liquid they will run down as soon as you apply a bit too much, or the resulting acrylic is so rigid it is also very brittle, or it doesn’t polymerize in gaps because there is no pressure. Because cyanoacrylate glues (as Superglue) is now much more versatile and don’t require perfectly matched surfaces, some “nail glue” are in fact cyanoacrylate based, i.e. Superglue without the Loctite brand name."

    Heads up - hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like these ASP products are being/have been discontinued. The Amazon links in this video are no longer working (one is broken completely & the other shows the product is out of stock and they don't know when or if it will be restocked). And to make matters worse, Sally has removed the individual gel & spray from their website all together, and put the kit on clearance. (Granted, it's a great price, but I hate what that seems to indicate.)
    Not sure what's up, but I just bought the gel & spray at Sally around Memorial Day so whatever is happening it is very recent.

    Hey love all your videos! I have been looking for something to fix my nails as they always tear or break below my nail tip onto my actual nail bed area. Filing or cutting isn’t possible when it’s that low onto my nail so I am using using Orly nail repair with a silk wrap piece however I seem to need to reapply the powder usually once a week because it tore again. I’m sure it’s more user error than anything else well I have a toddler so I am hard on my nails. I have been taking Biotin for about a year and half with no really improvements and I have been using Jojoba oil mixed with Almond oil for messaging my nails but I don’t think I am consistent enough because again I don’t see a difference. I wore Brisa gel for about seven plus years at least five straight years and on and off for about another four or five. I have not worn any since Feb ir March 2016 during my pregnancy I started rejecting the gel because it wouldn’t stay on. Within hours or days it always came off. I never ever had an issue. Anyways my point is my nails have been bare since then and I just can’t seem to stop them fro. Tearing or breaking and it’s always under my free edge part so on my nail bed and not able to clip or file down to the tear so I use Orly to keep together til, grows out. Anyways I was wondering if I use this product can I use it on an already patched up nail using the Orly? I’m going to file down as much as I can to the patch itself and do your fixing process but I am worried the powder remaining on nail part, would that interfere? Also you said at the very end that you used nail polish remover to finish smoothing off patch after complete. Are we able to use Zoya Remove + to remove our polish? Or does it need to be acetone free polish remover?I’m hoping you’ll see and possibly reply before I actually use it but I have a bad break on my thumb and filed it down and patched it yesterday but I want something better. Anyways sorry for rambling I’m trying to explain as best as I can.Thank you for your help! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  6 років тому +1

      I've never used the orly product, so I'm not sure how they'd work together, but it's certainly worth a try. Any kind of remover should be fine for polish, but for removing the patch I recommend 100% acetone

    • @nicolehorsman3284
      @nicolehorsman3284 6 років тому

      My Simple Little Pleasures hey thanks for replying! In the video you recommended non acetone remover. Just to clarify can I use regular nail polish remover? I usually use Zoya Remove Plus remover so would that be ok to use to take off my polish when I want to do a new mani? I understand for removing the patch to use the acetone but just for everyday polish removal is it safe to use my Zoya remove plus?
      Thanks! I could try and see but I thought your experience with using this product may have a better view so I don’t ruin my patches
      Thanks for help!

    Every time I use the ASP Lightless Gel it cracks - no, actually more like shatters - within a day or two. I have no idea why it does that. It is beyond frustrating, especially after spending so much time sculpting it out and then doing nail art on top. Does that ever happen to you, Collette? Or anyone here in the comments section have this problem besides me?

      it has happened a few times - usually if I don't paint my nails when I'm done, and if they're exposed to a lot of water. Once I also had what just seemed like a bad bottle of gel - every time I used it, it cracked and I eventually replaced it

      My Simple Little Pleasures :) Thank you for your input. This last time it happened, it was a brand new bottle. I used it on each of my thumbnails - and both looked like cracked glass, a few days later. I'll try it one more time as you suggested. Hopefully it's not a dud! Thanks again for your help.

      @@llamabeans Use a *thin* coat and spray from 6 inches away just a couple of times for a fine mist. More at once is *not* better. Be patient. If you need another coat, apply the same way.

      where are you looking? The amazon links that I initially include do tend to eventually expire, but I know that Sally's still stocks the ASP lightless gel & spray, although last time I ordered I had to buy the kit as they no longer sell them separately.

      the nail continues to grow normally (why wouldn't it?)

      Fleek Smith, your nail is formed from the bottom/base end of your nail and grows up.

      I've been using it for a few years - there's an amazon link in the information box (although a few people have reported it's currently sold out) and it's also available from Sallys

    Why not do all of the tips before they break?

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  6 років тому

      the gel can make nails brittle and actually more likely to break

    Your video is being used on a Pinterest ad for a repair gel that definitely isn’t what you actually used in the video

      thanks for the heads up - I've unfortunately had that happen before but it can be really hard to track down sometimes to file a copyright claim against them, especially with ads.
