Well I finally did it, Marla! I moved out of my huge house into a tiny govt apt, but it's mine. I have sole custody of my daughter. My divorce is still in the works but it's happening. I did it all myself, packed, sold my stuff, donated a ton and with the help of movers, crammed everything into my apt and storage (60 years worth of family stuff). Am I happy? no. I still have to deal with my and my daughter's abuser, but I am relieved and excited. Hopefully with meds and therapy I will be happy again. Your videos and kind words have been encouraging and helpful for me because I didn't (don't) feel so alone, like I had a friend. I know you probably hear this a lot, but thank you for being your honest self. Now I can do my nails!!!!🖤🖤🖤

I mix 3 parts 99% alcohol and 1 part 100% acetone. That's what I use as a gel liquids cleanser and also a dehydrator.

Hey Marla! This is why I got builder gel. I go through these phases where I constantly break my nails and have to cut them super short which is not ok for me. Builder gel is soooo easy to use and strong too!💜💜💜

Hi Marla, thank you so much for revisiting builder gel topics for newbies. I tried finding the right overlay for me last fall, including builder gel, but kept getting impact cracks at work, which cracked the natural nail under. That kinda damage scared me right back to regular lacquer for a good 4 months. Hearing you say again (and again!) "what works for me might be different than what works for you!" encouraged me to try again, and I've got My Builder Gel Way nail'd! (haha) Anyway, just a long comment to say Thank You!

Marla, can I say you are a godsent. I just got this builder gel the other day and did a back fill on top of another builder gel. Turned out great with all the helpful tips you do. Came out so great I didn't even want to dip over it. lol. Thank you for all you do!

Thanks for another great video. My first attempt at a corner repair with builder gel on my thumb initially turned out too long and splayed (flat) but I was eventually able to mangle the result into a more desirable shape as it grew out. As with most things, practice makes per… (oops) better!! 😏

@@MarlaKris My diy nail journey just started back in January of this year. I’ve been using builder gel in a pot for a couple months. I definitely need to get some in a bottle if it’s that easy.
@@jennmccann5981 I realize it’s definitely a personal preference but I find the bottle builders WAY easier to use than the pot builders!!

I've been watching your videos for several months now, ever since I started doing dip nails, cause my nails break so easily. I haven't had a chance to go look at all of your old videos, but I will. Your videos really are my favorites. Now I gotta go figure out the whole builder gel thing. I do have a question but it's not related to this video. I want that blue sparkle dip you used for your northern lights nails. I've looked for it in different places and can't find it, and can't find anything else that I like as much as that one. Hi! So I'm about to try builder gel for the first time, just watched your overlay, peel base routine, and now this video. Thank you so much for all the info!
Question: is it safe to do a bg overlay over a nail that is splitting vertically from the tip, a bit up into the nail bed, or is that asking for a gel allergy? Previously I've been using a clear dip overlay and will just dip over top when that happens (my nails aren't happy with me right now, working on it) and it holds it all together nicely until it grows out.
You mentioned not using gel base for the fill - I assume just bc you have no issues not using it, but generally speaking would using it help with adhesion? When i was using the clear dip base and trying to fill i really struggled with the dip not sticking to the grown out area (despite thorough prep, my nails are so weird) so I'm guessing with that tendency it would be best to use the base? Really hoping it will be easier to do fills with bg, you made it look so easy!
This isn't really a question, but I'm also hoping to use peel base with it. I really struggled with getting it to pop off over the clear dip base no matter what i did (yes i buffed super smooth and top coated). And using pb over natural nails would pop off way TOO soon, can't win 😭 Plus i really need to keep something on over my natural nails since they're so weak right now. Really hoping the bg helps with some of these issues!

stupid question, but I bought the builder gel in the video and tried it tonight. When I get ready for a backfill, do I not need to go in with a gel base coat before the new layer of builder gel? Or do I just use the base when I remove the builder completely and start over?
Not stupid at all! You definitely want to use the base coat again since the new nail growth will require that for best adhesion

Thank you for this video, it was extremely helpful for breaks at the free edge. I am unfortunate enough to have nails that will often crack at the sidewall before the smile line. What would you recommend to repair this type of break?
Hey love! It really dealers choice! You can use polygel, builder gel on a form, a tea bag and some nail glue! Whatever you’re most comfy with 💜
Thank you for video, did you remove any of the previous BG prior to filming? or did you keep the same thickness and just roughed up the surface?
Didn’t remove anything! Just got the surrounding area nice and rough so the new gel would stick 💕

You don’t ever need to soak off! You can backfill as much as you want! 💞

Hey love! Because my application was so thin and it really didn’t cover the whole nail, I didn’t find it necessary. If you have an uneven application, you can 100% flip over to help things level!

Omgosh lol never a bother, darlin! I’m not sure about the price per ounce but I think it’s pretty similar. Revel may be a tad bit on the lower side of the cost spectrum. Both outstanding companies tho!!
Great video. I couldn't hear you clearly, what did you caution the primers contain? Sounded like Hima but couldn't hear clearly.
Right.. most primers contain HEMA which can lead to allergies ❤️
Can you get a dip powder alergy from getting it on your skin too?
It’s unlikely but like any product, contact dermatitis can develop over time
Thank you for this helpful video. Is it not necessary to 'seal' the builder gel with a gel top coat (if you intend wearing the nails the way you are)?

It’s a “precision tool” aka water marble tool! The one I’m using is from Gigis custom dips but I also have a few in my amazon storefront! ❤️

I find it esier to rebuild corners with polygel. Then I file it and do a builder gel overlay as usual
