    Hi, I’m Taiwanese and I’d just want to point out a few reasons why it’s nice to visit Taiwan.
    1) Safety, you can go explore Taiwan at all hours of the day or night, no one is trying to constantly hustle or scam you (except for airport taxis, meter and common sense still applies)
    2) Friendly polite civil people, and police are more like public servants than law enforcers, ask them anything, even location, they’ll probably drop you off in their mopeds
    3) Food, and the availability of food ie night markets, even 7-11 food is good (try the tea marble egg)
    4) cleanliness and hygiene, we take garbage seriously and recycle HARDCORE, also you can open your mouth while showering
    5)No intense strict laws, you can spit gum and not get lashes, but don’t do it
    6)LGBTQ friendly, we respect human rights and try to foster an inclusive environment, it’s one of the few Asian countries that do
    7) government health care, which means pharmaceutical drugs are all regulated and there’s no insane prices, so if you were to get a cold or bacterial sickness as a foreigner without healthcare, chances are, you go to ANY clinic, see ANY doctor, come out with a 10 dollar fee with antibiotics.
    8) Nothing is blocked on the Internet, so feel free to use Gmail, Google, UA-cam, Facebook

    Actually Dr. Sun Yat-sen's 11 times uprising was against Manchurian empire in China, then founded Republic of China (Not the current communist regime in China) in 1911. So he did it for China not for Taiwanese. At that time Taiwan was still a Japanese colony. After Japan lost the war in 1945, the territory of Taiwan was then taken by Republic of China's nationalist party as they lost the civil war against communist China and the nationalist troops retreated to Taiwan for temporary refuge. Little did they know this temporary refuge became forever and now these Chinese (only 16~20% of Taiwanese population at that time) who retreated with nationalist troops began to settle down in Taiwan and assimilated with Taiwanese culture to form what we are now today.

    • @kylesong9654
      @kylesong9654 5 років тому +11

      Maxwell-Luis Y. Law Republic of China took Taiwan after Japan lost the WW2 because Taiwan was part of China and was taken from China by Japan, China was just taking it back. No matter which side won the Chinese civil war, Taiwan would be a part of China anyway.

      Thanks for your comment.
      Qin ≠ China
      Said by Mao. He referred to Manchurian government as foreign government.
      Taiwan being taken by Japan has nothing to do with current PRC government.
      We like our freedom to travel everywhere, I hope one day you can as well, even just coming to visit Taiwan after the ban. Good luck!

    • @kylesong9654
      @kylesong9654 5 років тому +4

      Maxwell-Luis Y. Law I don’t know if Mao said this or not, maybe he said this during a specific period of time or in a specific context. But anyway, most people sees Qin as a dynasty in Chinese history.
      Republic of China succeeded the entire territory of Qin Empire (officially recognized by Emperor Puyi), which gave ROC the right to reclaim Taiwan from Japan.
      As for PRC, it succeeded the territory of ROC after the civil war, even though PRC never ruled Taiwan for a single day, it still can claim Taiwan as its territory because it deems itself as successor of ROC.
      Also, no need to worry about my freedom to Travel, I’ve already been to Taiwan, among many other places around the world.

    • @MaximSupernov
      @MaximSupernov 5 років тому +25

      @@kylesong9654 Other opinions of yours I guess we have to agree to disagree. But I don't agree with the dynasty part.
      Greece was ruled by Ottoman for 400 years so are many Arab territories that are now some modern Arab states, yet no Greeks or Arabs would say Ottoman was part of their dynasty.
      Phillipines was ruled by Spain for 333 years, yet no Filipinos would regard Spain as part of their dynasty.
      Don't you find this strange? A proud nation like China seeking acceptance of foreign invaders, not only they don't find it a humiliation but now worship the past glories of Manchurian and Mongolian invaders. Chinese dynasty died when Ming collapsed.

    • @kylesong9654
      @kylesong9654 5 років тому +1

      Maxwell-Luis Y. Law Nope, What happened in China was different from what happened in Greece or Philippines. After the Manchurians ruled China, they accepted Chinese culture, and to some extent was assimilated into the Han Chinese.
      Besides, the concept of China or Chinese evolves as the time passes by, in the past, perhaps it only referred to the Han Chinese, but when the Republic of China was founded, it was a “republic of five ethnic groups (五族共和)”, Manchurians and Mongolians were both deemed as Chinese together with the Han Chinese.
      Today, China has at least 56 ethnic groups, they are all Chinese.

      历史大家都了解,抗日战争结束,中国爆发内战,国民党为了维护政权退守台湾,与大陆分割而治,形成中华人民共和国和中华民国这样中国独特的国中之国的现象,在1971年之前,世界认可的中国合法政权为民国政府,1971年之后,为共和国政府,那时候的民国人及民国政府都和共和国政府及大陆人一样都是中国的政权都是中国人,近些年由于大陆太过强大台湾返攻大陆无望,民进党当局为了维护政权,开始寻求独立,利用舆论引导岛内人民思想,引导他们不再承认自己是中国人这一事实,即便认可自己是中国人这一身份的岛内居民,大多都认为民国政府才是中国正统政府,诚然,我们有共同的历史、文化、传承,都属于伟大的中华民族,但是你们想过没有,这些历史、文化来自哪里?来自大陆的中原,谁继承了大陆,谁就是中国正统,历史上不断更迭的朝代也都是如此,现在的民国政府已经背叛我们共同的国父孙中山先生,背叛了抗日战争期间背靠背战斗的长眠在地下的国共先烈,如今抛弃属于中国政权、寻求从中国独立出去的民国政府真的有资格是中国正统政府吗?你们真的有切实的依据证明台湾不是中国台湾吗?有切实的依据证明自己不是中国人吗?我讨厌党争,它让我们大陆人和台湾人互相敌视彼此。我讨厌党争,它让我们中华民族不再和睦一心。我讨厌党争,它让我们的中国伤痕累累。我讨厌党争,它让我们距离彼此更加遥远。我讨厌党争,它让我们无法再了解彼此的心。我讨厌党争啊😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

    I was comparing Taipei to where I'm living in Vietnam. Across the board it is way higher to live there, except for buying cars/nike's etc. But the people make twice as much salary. I'm retired so I like the costs here, but wow, the beauty of that city is impressive. Thank you, and great opening photography.

      Vietnamese will feel at home in Taipei as the current newly born generation of Taiwanese have 1/4 with foreign parents, high percentage of it came from Vietnamese mother. Vietnamese eateries and cultures can be seen quite often in Taiwan.

    Okay, I'm from Taiwan. So the reason why you see so many students dancing there, it's because the place has a nice roof so you don't get too hot under the sun, and also if it rains, you're still able to practice dancing. People there dancing are mostly high school students and college students who attend a dancing club, they're there practicing for their next performance or competition.

Best of all living standards are as high as Taiwan yet cost of living is as affordable as Thailand. Plus it’s easily one of the friendliest and safest countries in Asia! :-)

    Yes, Taiwan is just such an amazing place. Compared to other Asian Countries they love foreigners there and don't want to exploit you or something, they just like to help. The infrastructure is great, they have black sand beaches and high beautiful mountains and it feels completely independent to China. It's like in between China and Japan, only that it's cheaper and calmer in Taiwan and people appreciate you. By far my favorite country to live in. And if you also decide to move in Taiwan and look for a place to live, check out pop-rooms.com. it makes it easy for people who don't speak Mandarin to find a cozy, homely and affordable place to stay!

    Taiwanese here! Thank you soooo much for filming Taipei that beautiful :) I'm born and raised in Taipei, for me it is a perfect mix of the modern city and the chill local atmosphere. No offense, but I wanna point out few lil things for this video. It might sound quite political, but I think it is quite important since you must be trying to deliver the correct information and introduce Taiwan to the world right :)) First, Sun tried 11 times for the independence for "Republic of China" rather than Taiwan. I know it's confusing, but technically speaking, Taiwan is only the general call for this PLACE (not the government), while R.O.C. shall be the official name of the authority. Second, u mentioned that more 100 bills are used because ppl like Sun more than Chiang. I think this point is kind of awkward for me cuz their importance in history is quite different. Sun was the one who "officially established" the authority of R.O.C.(which is the current Taiwanese authority), some ppl even call him "father of the country", yet, Chiang was only one of the presidents throughout our history(though he is still important).
