Thank you so much for watching the first of FOUR episodes to come! Taiwan was full of must-sees, -eats, and -dos and we did our best to capture as much of that as possible. I hope you love it!
Iz Harris, As person who grew up and live in Taipei, your video truly reminds me how much I should appreciate the food I eat everyday. Since I had always thought those food are just mediocre, but then I’m just a person who simply lives in food paradise without noticing.
Hope to see more videos like this coming up in the future :)
Great work! Keep up the good content:)
Great work! Keep up the good content:)
You're such a great, natural host! Great job!
Iz Harris gotta have a gua bao and pigs blood cake...
Interesting fact about Taiwan's night markets is that their origins are closely intertwined with temple culture (the island actually has one of the highest per area concentrations of shrines and temples in the world). Early on street food vendors would set up small snack stalls just outside of temples on days of worship hoping to sell food to hungry patrons entering and leaving the temple. Over time more and more stalls accumulated around some of the larger temples and grew into the night markets that we know and love today. That's why you see that iconic multi-tiered temple right at the entrance of the Raohe Night Market in the video around 2:53; or if you were to visit Keelung City northeast of Taipei, that's why the night market there is called Miaokou Yeshi (lit. 'Night Market at the Temple's Entrance').
yes! so so interesting and it makes for quite the beautiful setting, doesn't it?!
What a clear interpretation!
True! I totally forgot how night markets start to form until read your comment. It reminds me when I was little (about 25 years ago), my parents will take me to night market in the town right next to the temple. It happened ever Friday night. Exciting Friday! 😊
The only thing that look more delicious than those pancakes is the editing 👌🏼
Tyler Stalman hah! Thank you! So glad you liked it 🙏🏻
Maybe just me, but it seems like the sound editing is not ideal . Sometimes the music is too loud when there is no dialogue, and then have to lower the volume, but then the vocal volume is too low when it comes on again, so then have to raise volume.
And the cute face she is really georgous
I'm glad you went to Raohe, which I also consider to be the best night market in Taipei (but not in Taiwan, those are in the south, but I'm biased because I live south!) 😘
野生的婷婷!!!!!!
野生婷婷!快帶他們去喝珍奶 木瓜牛奶
When I was in taipei I found Raohe to be too crowded and overrated, I liked Ningxia night market better
來朝聖野生的婷婷!!
@@pso142 Agree, I love Ningxia too! It's my local night market every time I go back to Taiwan
Would love to show you guys around next time!! There is so much more delicious Taiwanese food to try❤️
the crossing of the world's two power couples!

I was born in Taipei and I love watching UA-cam videos about Taiwanese food. I'd have to say this is one of the best videos EVER on this topic. EVER.
As a native Taipei City citizen, welcome to Taiwan Iz and Johnny! I hope you do enjoy all the love and the good food we have to provide, and hope you like our friendly hospitality here. Can't wait for the episodes to come!!
Thanks for coming!
The night markets in Taiwan are so lively and amazing! Love the atmosphere, the smells, and all the food there when I went. Awesome to see you guys back on your next adventure!~
Really enjoyed my recent trip in Taiwan. I enjoyed roaming around the night markets and trying most of the recommended street food. I love the deep-fried squid the most!
You made me homesick sooo much!! Great Video Iz!!! Thanks for loving Taiwanese night market and being brave to try the stinky tofu loll
Group of Korean ladies behind you say they bought 18 of those (pork buns) 😄
Wait. So, Iz's husband is Johnny Harris from Vox?
Damn, both of them are creating some top top content.
Siddhartha Verma what I immediately yelled out when I saw Johnny!!!! He’s my favorite reporter/documentarian from Vox! What an amazing combination. Also, those kids are gonna have an amazing traveling-filled life.
You guys are the kindest!
Johnny was in India , vox border series loving it
I was finding comment about it to confirm the same....
yea~ both of them are married couple!! and they created so much interesting videos!!
Your videos are amazing. We love Taiwan. We enjoy so much your videos. I am from Taiwan and my husband is from Spain. We live in London. Thanks
Iz, I l really appreciate your open-mindedness and maturity when trying the stinky tofu, and the fact that you were willing to try it, even though it was a struggle....that is definitely not an easy food for the uninitiated to try, and you were honest but classy about your thoughts on it. Kudos to you for not spitting it out!
Proud Taiwanese here! The editing is on point! Thanks for showing the world how amazing our country is
So glad you are back and this is the perfect video! I'm trying to figure out where to have lunch with my son, who is interested in growing his palate. This is just the kind of food we are looking for...in Minneapolis. We are very fortunate to have a lot of places offering this kind of food, although not this experience. I agree...we ALL need a night market!
Thank you for the love of Taiwanese food and night market culture and you really edited very well! Raohe is also my favorite night market in TAIPEI!
Probably one of the better review of Taiwan night market I've watched. Great job! Keep traveling, stay curious.
Welcome to Taiwan! Good to see you like these foods here. Great filming!!
Beautifully made video with great content 🤤
We were just there last week, and until now i still have hangover about Taiwan. I love the food the locals are very friendly, approachable and friendly. I am still craving for the pork pepper bun😋😁
Hi I'm a Chinese teacher in the U.S. I really enjoyed watching your video and that made me think of my hometown a lot... I'm going to show my students as well. Thank you so much!
The cuisine in Taiwan is the best ❤️❤️❤️
Some of my favorite places in Taiwan!
好有質感的影片,歡迎來台灣玩~~
Woah, that first transition from the drone shot to the food stall.... seamless! Also love this series and now I'm starving.
Amazed to see you know so many about Taiwan so well at the very first try. Have fun and good memories!!
Proud Taiwanese watching this makes me soooooooo happy.
that makes ME so happy! thank you!
Right?? I'm pumped to be going back to the motherland later this year :3
Glad you enjoyed my country.
You are my FAVORITE on this channel. Why can't you do more of these?? I don't like any of these nearly as much as your travel videos of Portugal and Taiwan!
This video makes me want to go back to Taiwan ASAP!
Holy Cow! This is my first time watching your video. Love the way to tell the story and edit your footage. Excellent work! Now I can't wait to watch more
You should come again! If you travel to areas outside of Taipei City, there's a plethora of scenic, gorgeous places to check out.
When I traveled to Taiwan, the itinerary was basically a mix of temples and night markets. The pork pepper bun was my favorite bite of my entire trip. I also love oyster omelettes but get those here in the states. I couldn't do the stinky tofu. I am known to like "weird" stinky foods but for some reason I couldn't get past the smell. You would think growing up eating kimchi your whole life would prepare you....
What are you talking about... stinky tofu is one of my favorites... its like stinky cheese and much better. 😋😋😋
o gosh 11:36pm... such amazing timing....... just great~~~~~~~~~
PS. Travel is back, I see this was made before covid but PLEASE continue your travel vlogs!!
Turns out, I was in Taipei at the same time when you were there! Man I wish I knew it so I can buy you guys some dinner because I’ve been following your videos for some time and really love it! Btw, if you guys have idea of visiting Finland and make a video about it, let me know and I’d like to show you around in Helsinki. Keep making high quality videos, you and your husband are literally the top vloggers on YT.
*Taipei’s night markets are amazing!*
but truly!
Wow! This video definitely makes me want to go back to Taiwan! So hungry now!
Such an extraordinary video about the vibrant local culture, well done!
Those black pepper buns at Raohe are next level!
UNREAL, so so tasty and SO much pepper!
As a Taiwanese myself, really, I’m so proud of everything in my country but especially the food here lol. Lots of foreigners don’t dare to try stinky tofu or foods that have something to do with animal body parts, but trust me, they are not that bad😂 oh yeah, come and have fun, Taiwan is really a gorgeous country in every aspect!
I would try different cusine, but maybe back out if there is century old egg , slug, or some bug i would stay off it.
Rita Hsieh I love your country and can’t wait to go back there..friendly locals, great places to visit, and excellent food. My dad let me try the stinky tufo and I survived! Hahaha..hope you’d also watch my Taiwan vlog. Thanks😘
So happy to see this video introducing my neighborhood to the world! You should try the fire-iced sweet dumplings next time you visit Raohe night market
Omg there was a shot with my house!! hahahah I'm glad you liked the food here!
The pork buns look awesome!
Thanks for making this video, high quality, best one ever!
u two r incredible! i mean bringing along your 2 kids while being able to travel AND shoot great content. two thumbs up!
I love Taiwanese food so much
The Taiwanese night market is a combination of pre-1938 China, Taiwanese native, Japanese, and American fast-food culture. And now we have the addition of south-east Asian food culture. It's unique because it's a mixture of different cultures, accepting them all simply because they are tasty food that sells. The fact that night market stalls could easily have an annual profit 40k USD, which would be three times more in real money value (amount of money/how much things you could buy with that money). The potential profit and the 1st year overturn rate of 60% for the past 30 years has turned the night market into a heaven for foodlovers
I LOVE IZ HARRIS... you lucky channel to have snatched her up.. a new subscriber you have here x
Watching in 2021, this video with bustling places is both nostalgic and scary. I don't know what to feel anymore.
You and your family adventures are a must watch. Love it.
I wonder how you two can bring the whole family but still got a beautiful shot? That's incredible !!
Oh, look who's back?! Very cool. Love this family. 👍
hiiii! 👋thanks so much or watching!!
Welcome to Taiwan! I love this video!
Really appreciate your style of filmmaking! Distinctive and fun. Keep it up and enjoy in the process! Keep crunching content...good luck
Here during covid, please let there be a season 3
The Korean ajummas speaking Korean while Iz is eating the pork pepper buns was an unexpected and delightful twist. :)
Props to the cinematography 💗
Yess we went to that same stall for scallion pancakes. That egg and basil combo is incredible!
the queue is too long i tried many scalion pancakes and most of them tasted the same. dont bother queueing
one of the best things I've ever eaten, still missing them!
My mouth is watering even though I just ate! 😋
I visited over 3 night markets in Taipei on my last trip and been to almost every stall at each one, yet by the time I walk out my first thought is always to head right back in for more because it was just so good! :D
Next time try the stick rice + taiwanese sausage with sauce, so tasty
ACDBLightsNSounds “Sticky” rice
Wow now im excited to Taiwan travel ❤😍
歡迎來台灣😊😊😊
That scallion pancakes not close to Chapati, it’s close to Pharata , but like the South Indian version or “Parota”. It’s the same texture of Trinidadian doubles, as well btw.
Perhaps, you should check it out.
Taiwan is a beautiful country 🇹🇼
Taiwan No.1 🇹🇼
the last one from the Tandori oven looks great !!!
I used to hate hate hate stinky tofu. I honestly could not distinguish the difference between rank summer-time dumpster liquid and stinky tofu. BUT now, i love it. My mouth waters whenever i smell stinky tofu. It just ends up growing on you and i can't imagine life without this new evolved experience!
I bet your mouth waters when you smell sweat soaked gym socks and sweaty underwear worn by a migrant farmer....
beatnix99 mail me
You should try the lamb soup cooked with Chinese herbs if you go there in the winter it’s so comforting.
Taiwanese street foods are one of my favourite.
Thank you so much I love it! 喜歡您介紹台灣小吃文化的樣子 歡迎您有空常來台灣 旅途愉快..
Omg this season took Long enough, I need more!!!!! Can eater please keep sending them overseas please hahahha
🇹🇼welcome to Taiwain❤️
I love the editing! I imagine it must have been very difficult to film in such a crowded spot but you did a great job of showcasing all the sights and sounds (now I just wish there was a way to digitally transfer taste, haha).
Also, kudos to you for having such an openminded approach to stinky tofu, which is definitely an acquired taste that even some local people can't stomach LOL.
Keep up the great work Iz!! Can't wait for the next video. P.s. love how you're keeping Johnny humble, "Iz's husband"
I love Iz - almost as much as she loves food 🤣🤣🤣
歡迎來到台灣🇹🇼♡
Welcome to Taiwan😁
With those pork pepper buns I was thinking of food wars the anime lol.
Absolutely love you travel food videos!
These are the luckiest kids to have parents like them!
Good job Iz ! I just want to take a plane ticket to Taiwan and enjoy food!!!!!
I can not believe that I watched this video before going to bed. It made me hungry
Taiwan is the foodie must-visit country! I will go by next year!!!
you are going to LOVE it!
Awesome visual experience. Now I’m hungry.
"I wished we had this at home ...." I know exactly what you mean. And I can only dream and salivate (UK). Great vid, btw. Happy travels.
Wow. Big fat stinkin kudos for traveling to Taiwan and going to night markets with two little ones. The thought of that with mine gives me panic attacks. Cheers for being brave and amazing 🎉
Hi, i am your audience who live in Taiwan
I do really grateful that you film this video
Hope you can come this beautiful island again :)
arb hi, i went to Taiwan with my family last October and i had so much fun. Great place, excellent food, friendly people. Hope to go back there soon, and hope you’d watch my videos too.🥰
Ice cream burrito is a must try, sweet peanut powders sprinkled on two scoops of ice cream with some coriandre wrapped in spring roll wrapper.
we had that while we were there, LOVED it!
Great vlog!🌈 Think about visiting Georgia (Europe) next time. There’s plenty of delicious food to try and lots of beautiful places to explore. 🇬🇪✨
then she can compare soup dumplings from Georgia vs Taiwan.
Iz! I love seeing you travel with your kids..it inspires me to get my little crew out and about more often. What stroller do you prefer to take on travels?
I have tried chapatti while in Uganda, Africa. It is awesome!!!!!
Came to Eater for the food, stayed for Iz.
Yes! Another Iz video! 👏👏👏
🙌yes!!!
Amazing vlog!! Welcome to Taiwan. :)
Superb !
Wellcome to Taiwan 👋👋👋
Drone View made it so professional
Also slow motion and time-lapse
I'm so glad you tried stinky tofu and not hate it~ lol~~~~~
Lmao loved recognizing 東門 scallion pancakes - haven’t tried them but I always see the huge line when I walk by
Same here! I finally tried one just last week, and holy cow they're effin' delicious. Definitely try them some time if the line's not too bad.
