I literally watched this video before my game this week and had a game high 4 3s made (probably played 15 mins total) . That trick about the loaded wrist when waiting for the catch and shoot was the best advice I’ve ever been given when it comes to shooting. Currently sitting top 5 in 3s made in my social league, hopefully I can end the season leading in 3s made. Funny thing is I have yet to make a 2 or free throw this season haha.

Cant wait to try this. I'm right handed, but I've been shooting with my left slightly awkwardly since I was a kid. I got more power with my left, but I'm more accurate with my right. But shooting with my right feels weak , especially from three. I cant even perform a pullup jump shot with my right with the same form as my left.
What I have an issue with is I either hit back iron or front rim, or airball entirely. I can't figure out timing my legs with my arms so the balls coming out at the right time.
I’ll be trying this today! I like the term loaded wrist. I don’t have very good wrist mobility. Any tips to help getting the ball back to that loaded position when the wrist is stiff (other then wrist stretching).
That's really a good drill bro. The best one I have ever seen. Ball should be on the right thigh not the left thigh if you want a perfect straight line.
Dont really matter how you bring it up, aslong as your release is straight. Obviously some are faster and situational, thats on you to find the balance between comfort, accuracy, and efficiency in your form
you can move your hand more on the front of the ball instead of the side since i'm guessing you hold the ball on the side, and just practice releasing the ball off your middle finger with close one arm jumpshots

I am trying to use the roll method to create my straight shot line, but it's only adding to my problem. I apparently favor my right side too much and thus my shot becomes a catapult. I can't seem to understand how to fix this, and this drill isn't clearing it up for me.
Shooting ultimately comes down to comfort, if you find a form that's comfortable for you, it makes shooting way better. Plus visualize yourself making a shot or being like your favorite basketball player, because your mentality matters a lot when shooting also
don't be to conscious about your jumpshot, the perfect jumpshot for you may not be klay thompsons jumpshot. I know guys who have catapult jumpers and release the ball way above there head. and those guys don't miss. ever.
dumb question but I'm having trouble shooting 3s in my normal shooting form, I can't get enough distance and keep missing right in front of the hoop, instead of using my normal shooting form I have to force the ball out which has no ark and makes me normally miss, any tips?
Practice jumping with your hips while shooting, its gonna be inconsistent at first but once you adapt you will instantly find the range for shooting 3s.
I am not sure about the elbow above the eye part, everyone has a different comfort on a release and not even he put his elbow above his eye in the video. Everything else was sound advice.

My old coach always said - great shooters are made not born - I'm now on the coaching side and these drills are great for me and the boys :)
