making it look so easy and being so relaxed is a sign of true mastery
seriously...
hehe compositions,..he is so stylish. This is far from your guitar runs, even in the prog realm. They sure work on creating a theme within this piece. The songwriting on this album has stepped out of its box.
I love your articulation! great points!
paul and mikael akerfelt are both my favorite guitar composers from this generation as far as conventional 6 strings guitar goes
Amen, brother!
We all know he's downright amazing so we'll count that as a given, but what really blows me away is how the hell this band plays this entire damn album live, cover to cover, with no pause. Saw them do it October 2013 in Pittsburgh and they honestly didn't miss a note.
They’re not human
@@HumFanLiterally they have to be androids
Saw them play it in 2023 and thought the same thing! And just this week I saw them play Colors 1 and 2 on back to back nights. Honestly incredible they can pull off so much complex music on the same tour.
Tommy's gutturals just sound so much more intense. And the riffs are sooo thrashy. It's awesome
He's so patient when he plays.. BTBAM is unmatched on all levels....
God dammit I love 7:34 and on. The whole song is amazing, but that part makes me want to throw my computer across the room. So mean sounding.
I know this comment is old as hell but that part of tge song through good speakers is awesome. The bass hits you like a wall
Paul reed smith, they are some of the greatest guitars made.
dude this is just one song... look at the colors live DVD haha. Absolutely insane amount of music to have memorized. They are incredible
It's a lot easier to remember songs when you've written them.
Am I the only one who noticed that he's on the neck pickup all the way through... He wasn't plugged at all haha ;) UA-cam Magic.
He is plugged into something
@@rsturba Is pickup switch is probably reversed. I'm no saying he's faking just so you know.
I noticed it too, even in the solo part the sound changes but the pick up is always the one on the neck, in my opinion it's unplugged
Please get that stray hair somebody...
+Trent Stark Can't unseeeeee
he always has one I swear
This song and record is amazing
Clearly its an opinion but truthfully, you will Not hear better cohesive masterpieces, soulful solos or catchier riffs, Everr. He truly is the Greatest Guitarist that I have ever watched or heard. His compositions aren't even comparable. You couldn't name a better guitarist and get away with it. You haven't a clue about what this man has made. Highest Caliber musician Ive come across....but sweet opinion! ;)
PRS is the perfect choice for these guys
A B Bikes Cars N’ Guitars He plays Ibanez now
no it aint baby.. you clearly haven't heard All of this mans creations and how perfectly placed his notes are. To hear a small ass taste, type in "BTBAM best solos" for a chance to hear a genius' mind at work. Paul Waggoner > other guitarists I now try listening to
Mark McCauley try Guthrie Govan, best out there
his hands are the secret to his precision, obviously practice makes perfect.. he literally dominates the guitar with those mitts
here I thought it was his ankles for some reason. what am I doin
Ah the PRS days! Paul is my favorite guitar player of all time. BTBAM is the best live band on earth, hands down.
Hell yeah, man! I'm from the NC area myself, but there's not much action going on around where I am. (No music stores, instrument shops, etc) and it pretty much sucks around here.
Ryan knight is my favorite guitarist right now you cant say who the best in the world is theres too many good ones people out there that nobodys heard of chris arp is amazing to
People saying BTAM use 11-49 with a wound 3rd, just to clarify they actually now use 11, 14, 21w, 32, 44, 56 for C#. They said in their rig rundown for premier guitar :)
Mind blown
I have never in my life seen such a guitarist that is so smooth, maintains specific and deliberate timbre, and is so flawless while playing. I believe one of his greatest attributes that has a lot to do with his playing is how economic he is with his picking. His up and downstrokes are perfectly utilized in the right spots. Love ya Paul!
How the fuck do you write shit like this...i love you paul waggoner
how do i even begin to learn this...i am out of my league here
at this point i would say paul waggoner is the best guitarist in the world. his technique is absolutely flawless and with those hands of his hes pretty hard to beet i mean seriously lets be honest. 2:52 is much harder to play the he makes it look ill tell you that right now
So that cord coming out of the guitar is just for show?
I have PRS custom SE 24, and I recently got the intonation set to C#(like btbam). It would constantly go out of tune if I bent a note or simply strummed a chord. So I took it back to the music shop to get it reintonated and I'm still having the same problem. The technician recommended that I get a locker tuner, but I think that's unnecessary because I rarely use the whammy bar. I notice Paul's PRS does not have locker tuner, and his guitar stays in perfect tune most of the time. Any suggestions?
that is dans bass distortion. I think it is fucking awesome personally
I'm not saying Paul Gilbert is the best in the world, I'm just trying to point out that it borders on fanboydom to assume that any one guitarist could be the best in the world.
We can compromise and say that Paul Waggoner is a very damned talented guitarist.
he is a very very amazing guitar player but so is dusty. The WHOLE band is mind boggling when you add it all up....
You can tell how good of a musician he is by watching his right hand instead of his left. His timing is flawless
There is no best guitarist. It's all a matter of choice, that's it.
True, but people are free to have an opinion on who they believe to be the best.
Fuck this is hard! I've learned all they way up to 1:48 . I can't figure out what he's doing right there. It's too fast. D:< I will learn this whole song!
Why doesn't this have more views? It's a shame.
its a PRS guitar, but i dont know what the signature says
cool \m/
Watch Misha Mansoor/Daniel Ioanna/John Browne playthru's and you'll see that you can actually hear what they are playing, that's the fun of it, dang it. I can also do what Paul is doing here, that's why I didn't even watch the ending of it, because it's just pointless to watch someone playing something that you can't hear.
I guess. He's playing everything without changing pickups and does some vibratos that you can't listen in the song and the song does some vibratos that he doesn't do. Or maybe it's just me that i'm losing my mind.
This doesn't mean he can't play the song, he probably didn't want to record it live because he could've done some mistakes, that's it.
He already included his audio on the CD, no biggie. :P
This is all CD audio. He uses both pickups in the song. Neck pickup for most of it, bridge pickup for the mellow, solo stuff. The switch position in the video is irrelevant
.
nah dude it's 'cause the guitar is not actually sounding in this video, (I am assuming) it was made just to show you how to play the song. the audio is completely from the album.
I really cant stand that wobble sound at 3:50. BTBAM has never made a song I don't like, but I just couldnt help ask why they had to throw that in
Let me put it this way, Paul wrote this song, so technically he could not play guitar at all during this video, and STILL be playing it.
If I could be half this good I'd be perfectly happy. It's interesting to note that this is all played on the neck pickup. Unexpected given the tightness of the treble response.
Either this I'd just a mimed playthrough (more likely) or it's cause of those Bareknuckle Blackhawks. Very trebly pickups.
A decade later and it still keeps! ✨
liked before i watched it :)
60 gauge? Jesus... just play bass instead. And you saying "thicker strings = better sound" just makes you sound silly.
joshizarappa The problem is the tremolo system. Some of my songs are in C# standard. You don't need super thick strings but super light ones just won't work unless you pick real damn soft. Loosen the strings, jiggle the whammy bar a bit so it stays in place then add the extra spring in the back of the guitar that came in the case.
Okay, now where is the video of Tommy looking straight into the camera while performing vocals?!
I can't read the cursive writing on the head. Does anyone know what brand of guitar that is?
I really hope I'm anywhere near this good one day
Are you now good as Paul now?
Hmm, that's thinner than I thought! The wound 3rd is essential. Normal 3rds suck ass.
it still boggles my mind how he comes up with this shit but i really do believe paus technique is flawless and he writes some of the craziest riffs ive ever heard. he truly is one of the greats. I dare to say it but he is better then petrucci hands down IMO. i bet petrucci would even admitt it himself
Anybody else notice he only used the neck pickup? Unless his switch is backwards.
I have.
Paul Gilbert.
I'm a huge fan of BtBaM, but I'm not gonna say he's the best guitarist in the world just because he's damned good.
It's not fair to other guitarists, haha.
Calm down, it's just a playthrough, the guitar isn't even plugged into anything.
I'm pretty sure it's a paul reed smith (PRS) model, not sure which one though.
Is it just me or is he amazing?
Badass. That guitar is sick as hell, and I want it!
I see that Misha has been rubbing of on everyone. BKP's for everyone!
I am student college of btbam. Thanks 👍
Anybody else that can't stop watching that terrifying 6 inch pinky?
Man I bet this dude doesn't want to show himself on youtube anymore
I dont know about you dudes but the Bop-It Smash ad was pretty cool
I envy Miss Fly during the first solo, she's dancing around and enjoying the airspace around a great musician and great music, can almost hear her sing along as well:D
To add on to Mitchell's comment, they played this entire CD straight through on their latest tour with The Faceless. They're incredibly disciplined and precise musicians on all levels. It's insane.
I am from Australia and I agree. I saw them here and met them after the concert when they were loading their own van. Great musicians and great guys.
naa parallax one was way heavier. the part where it builds up with tommy screaming "must groooooowwwww" is the most intense shit ive ever heard
I think the sound may be a little out of sync with his playing, but still, fucking awesome
Last I checked this month is October
What gauge strings are you using? I'd recommend something like 056-012. I personally use 060-012 usually and it works pretty well. Thicker strings= better sound + better stability.
Badass. Can you post a vid of the everlasting ending solo? Thx
Creating something so unique and mesmerizing requires great talent and motivation.
Paul Reed Smith, but he's recently switched back to using Ibanez guitars although I can't remember which series off the top of my head.
I freaking love them demonstration videos!!! You guys are all the best and I have a crush on all of you
It helps if you know who Paul Waggoner is and what band he plays for
This is just a visual tablature, so dont injury your head thinking does he play or not :)
That looks like a pain to play I’ll stick to my simple riffs
Give Augment of Rebirth another listen ;)
It's a PRS. they are beautiful, sextastic guitars, and expensive as fuck. totally worth it, though.
Lol you think the expensive ass guitar and perfect "cover" would give it away, but apparently not.
Oh my bad, didn't see that there haha.
Bareknuckle Blackhawks?
it's even called a cover it's called a demonstration and this helped everybody learn the song.
They're standard on mid-higher end Paul Reed Smith guitars.
Think Santana, haha.
I really wish they'd turn Waggoner's guitar up more live
If you've ever played guitar extensively you'd be surprised at how well you can remember really long songs
That isn't an opinion. It is a fact
Can you really call it a cover when he's in the band who wrote the song?
Just like ur opinion on the net :)
Are those Bare Knuckle Blackhawks?
Paul is like a modern day Robert Fripp. Paul should invent his own tuning haha
Jesus Christ, Paul is a machine. This is the heaviest song they've done in years.
indeed, they are all world class musicians.
Neck pickup?
Paul, you've got a loose hair.
That'd just be your opinion :3
Hell no , thats Jimi Hendrix
Because that totally matters.
Thicker strings give you better stability for drop tuning
