probably gets overlooked due to the weirdness of the post 2008 albums, but the guitar work on silent circus alaska and colors is some of the most blisteringly fast and technical shit ever, he's one of the few people like ben weinman or greg kubacki that no matter how hard you try you will never replicate the sounds they make with their guitar. masters of the stringy boi
thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you for posting this and not screwing it up!. i absolutely admire paul's playing and especially this solo in particular.
Please.....Unlike Obswalq, I actually adore Paul Waggoner and have great respect for the man as both a musician and a composer so I'm not messing this up for you guys. This solo is excellent!
I remember the first time I heard this song, I also remember I shitted myself upon hearing the solo at the end. The clean solo right before this part is my favorite
This solo is what got me to play more than chords in my then band. It opened me up to a huge variety of music. To day still my favorite solo ever. Personal impact to the beauty of it. Still as great as the first day I heard it.
I've been trying to learn this sweep solo for 3 days now and he makes it looks boring. I can play it at about 130bpm but any faster and my mind turns into spaghetti
@@vgamedude12 spotted pro-SA virgin. Aren’t you the people that say pedos should be murdered? But you don’t mind rape and SA? Interesting. You lonely incels always have hated women, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.
@Melosistheshit Na man...i have to say being a stoner I actually LIKE chill music (pink floyd etc...) over death metal music, it just so happens i love drums...and with hardcore, fast drums comes heavy metal music so i adapted to like SOME of it...most of the songs i play are just cause the drums are amazing
@Melosistheshit well i respect your opinion but you cant say he's not good or something?....guy fuckin shreds....although thats good music i usually listen to pink floyd, led zeppelin and alice in chains (stoner)....i keep the black dahlia murder and all that remains for drums lol - Peace n Pot
he should of stayed with Ibanez, Paul Reed Smith isn't all that great. I don't see all the hype..I put a JS2400 up against a $3400 PRS and the JS killed the PRS easily..just my opinion
you know, whenever i listen to this solo, kinda sounds like something marty friedman would play. i mean martys obviously a far superior player, but still
He sucks so bad he has people pay to go see him..... And p.s...When I say "Do you know Buckethead?" I don't mean "Do you know Jordan?" Cause personally I think that's one of his worst songs
Why did youtube wait 13 years before figuring out that I wanted to see this?!?!
never thought i would be here 12 years later... i used to watch this video in 11th grade all the time.
Same here and I’m basically in my late 50s now hehe but yeah, much love to Paul and the rest of the band still kickin major ass today 👍💪
What happened to the full studio video though!!! I can’t find it!
Hell yea fuck yea shit yea
The skill, the technicality, the emotion and the insanity. You can feel it. It’s powerful.
Still hits in 2023
*2024
Best guitar solo ever
still gives me chills every time
im just gunna throw this out there but paul waggoner might b the best guitarist of this era

I'm just gonna throw this out there I got one they would probably kill me for playing and posting. 100 bpm is slow man.

Aaron Beckett this is Paul Waggoner lol
Bro?
Best of the best. Nothing else I can say. All I wanted was an S-Series and his skill after seeing this all those years ago.
Please.....Unlike Obswalq, I actually adore Paul Waggoner and have great respect for the man as both a musician and a composer so I'm not messing this up for you guys. This solo is excellent!
God doesn't time just fly by.
It's nuts. Grateful we have videos like these to bring us back. Took 15 years but I'm back down the BTBAM rabbit hole
Yes it does
This solo inspired my guitar playing.
Alaska was just so unmatched, man. I don't know.... I hate to play favorites on albums, but that one just steals it all.
I think it's really the best guitar solo ever
Forgot this video existed lol so good
How does this only have 31k views if I have watched it 31k times myself
Winston-Salem checking in. The boys still rippin'!
Hi from 2021
I remember the first time I heard this song, I also remember I shitted myself upon hearing the solo at the end. The clean solo right before this part is my favorite
I was so stoked when i first saw this back in 2009!! just starting to get into the band again!!
Genius songwriting
First time seeing this was them touring with The Red Chord back in '05 I think, still gives me goosebumps.
This solo is what got me to play more than chords in my then band. It opened me up to a huge variety of music. To day still my favorite solo ever. Personal impact to the beauty of it. Still as great as the first day I heard it.
This guy plays with surgical accuracy
I have this guitar, it is amazing

here after his interview w dean lamb and apparently he finds this solo super boring and only doesn't completely change it up live for the fans

@@chrisg4570 he does sweep but not mindless sweeping he likes to keep it more musical.

i wouldnt really call that a "solo"
What WOULD you call a 'solo' there sir?
Are you fuckin me right now? Paul is love, Paul is life.
Why? Because it's not just stupid fast arpeggios?
