He was propped up on the studio mixer when he recorded this, Brian was afraid he wasn't going to be able to hit those high notes, he was so sick, and offered to re write at a lower register, Freddie downed a vodka and said "no, I'll fucking do it darling" and did it in one take.
Yes , it makes me sad sometimes when I hear it , it gives me goosebumps sometimes listening to it still after all these years being a Queen fan , a very emotional song !
@johanbruinsma8243 Well of the 3, maybe 4, lead vocalists I put him at #1. The others were Ann Wilson in '77, Steve Perry-twice, '82 & '83 and Dennis DeYoung-twice, in '78 & '83.
I came across a ranking of bands with the best stage shows. In describing Queen (in the number one spot) they didn't have lasers, explosions, or intricate light shows. They had Freddie Mercury which is far more than all of that put together
Hard to imagine he knew he was dying in this video. His every effort put into laying down another timeless song knowing it would be immortal, as with his legacy!
Queen was harshly attacked by critics and yet proved that the real judge is the people on the street. They ignored the criticism and made Queen one of the most legendary bands in history. This was another of Queen's great legacies. It doesn't matter what the critics think. Don't let anyone tell you what you have to like or what you don't. There is no better judge for a person than oneself. A big hug and God save the Queen. We miss you Freddie.
One of my absolute favorite Queen songs. Freddie was extremely sick when he recorded it and could barely stand up. He had only about 6 months left to live. And yet he sounds amazing and imo he's doing his best singing here. Brian May, the guitarist wrote the song about Freddie. They weren't sure if he was able to sing the song but Freddie downed some vodka and said "I'll fucking do it, darling" and just killed it. One of my favorite stories about him 😄❤❤❤❤
Glad you jumped in with this as they clearly didn't get the significance of this song. And I'm guessing they didn't get that as he was never able to perform it live, that it's made up of clips from old videos and concerts. Anyway, agree completely on it being a favorite.
Geez You constantly and stubbornly spread nonsense that The Show Must Go On was recorded 6 months before Freddie died. This song was released on album Innuendo on 4th February 1991 . It is about 9,5 months before Freddie died if I'm correct so the song was probably recorded at the end of 1990
Yes! and another favorite story is when Queen was in the studio where Sex Pistols were also recording.. when Queen was there, "Sid Vicious" showed up, all drunk and drugged out - and Freddie called him "Simon Ferocious" - in a mocking way... and when Sid was still behaving poorly, Fred went and "grabbed him by the lapels" - and just PUT him out... many people did not realize how physically strong Freddie was - grew up as a "boxer" -- I LOVE this story - I believe it b/c I have seen & read it from numerous sources - including Roger Taylor..
The last song Freddie recorded was "Mother Love"...and he didn't get to finish it, Brian had to complete the vocals. However, yes he was ill when they recorded this track and Freddie did it in one take apparently. I think if you listen to the lyrics, it's Freddie saying 'no matter how I am, the show must go on'..the man worked until he couldn't work any longer. Respect. RIP Freddie.
Freddie Mercury sang this song in one take. Brian May had written it with the intention to sing it himself because Freddie at this point was so sick he didn't know if he could it. Freddie literally downed some vodka and said "Let's do this" and they got this rendition.
Damn youtube algorithm, I thought that this was going to be a very honest and emotional reaction, but this was one of the most soulles reactions I've seen. You two are a great couple, I wish you both my kindest regards, keep up the great work. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Freddie was so sick when they did this... One take for the singing and this is what they got. Perfection and one of the most emotional songs of all time. Freddie was a legend and will be missed for as long as there is music.
Unless these kids know Freddie was singing like a god while fighting to just stay alive long enough to finish the track they can never know the heartbreak millions feel when listening to it !
The amazing thing about this song is that Freddie Mercury was deathly I'll when he recorded it. He actually died shortly after. His band was concerned about his health because he had to be basically carried into the studio. After some back and forth, Freddie threw back a shot of vodka and said, "Fuck it, I'm recording it." The song you hear is the only version ever recorded because he did it in one take.
There are a lot of queen hidden gems that is awesome and amazing if appreciated music..by one of music analyst, this is the great vocals of a song by a dying man...freddie is still the best, decades after decades..
Well, being born in the early 90's you still got a lot of other great music, and still get to hear this. I take it as a win. Now, the issues surfacing today might be another reason to not love the times we're living in... But you could have been born in the 20's, 30's, 40's or 50's... Lots of worse shit to worry about then.
Mj can, stay the fuck where he is. In Hell!! You people make me sick that you are even willing to overlook overwhelming evidence of paedophilia just because he was an incredible artist. What kind of sick world do I live in.

@@jamesfretwell1511 I did not blame a whole generation for their reaction to Queen. Some may say the clip is something like "im dying and all this i did is dying with me" (cos the several videos cut all together in the clip)... But Freddie was an artist, he knew better.. he was dying, and this he did he left here on Earth for YOU. Yes... twenty years after he died, you are watching this and getting something from him, some heritage, some emotion, messages, words... And the show must go on, new things will come, old things wil show and or be copied, the message never dies, humans never dies, and while humans lives... the shows keeps going on ;-)

React to that song again, with lyrics on screen, knowing he had told his band members he had aids and would likely die (and he did), knowing that he had just recovered from a fucked up time in his life (almost blowing off Live Aid) and for the next 4/5 years continued to perform, keeping it a secret. May has been quoted as saying he wrote it about Fred's life and when it came time to record, didn't think he was well enough to sing it... Allegedly Freddie replied saying he could and nailed it.
Next day Freddy mercury passed away May his soul rests in peace He kept rocking until his last breath even tho he was unable to move simply because he was HIV positive and He was dying from aids yet he took couple shots of vodka and succeeded in recording it in one shot This is literally the voice of someone who's dying but he is alive within our hearts he is immortal the best frontman in history of the rock industry

At the Concert was between 250,000 and 300,000 Queen fans. As a Queen fan since the early 1970's I tried to get a ticket but they were sold out within 1 hour, but I could hear it from my back Garden. Love your reaction, Jon now I know why you are intelligent, you are a Queen fan and a Freddie Mercury fan. You two are a great couple, I wish you both my kindest regards, keep up the great work. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I explore abandoned places for photography and I listen this song sometime I can say this song is All about reality of our life
Freddie was so sick when they did this... One take for the singing and this is what they got. Perfection and one of the most emotional songs of all time. Freddie was a legend and will be missed for as long as there is music.
Freddie did NOT record this song in one take
Unless these kids know Freddie was singing like a god while fighting to just stay alive long enough to finish the track they can never know the heartbreak millions feel when listening to it !
The greatest band ever to vome out of Britain 🇬🇧 we the British fans where so lucky to have Freddie snd queen rip freddie
I could fly my friends..... when his soul was breaking to be free ..
Freddie was literally dying when he made this. He had no body weight.
He had tons of clothes on and his right foot was half gone.
No One But You
Reation Queen
❤
The amazing thing about this song is that Freddie Mercury was deathly I'll when he recorded it. He actually died shortly after.
His band was concerned about his health because he had to be basically carried into the studio. After some back and forth, Freddie threw back a shot of vodka and said, "Fuck it, I'm recording it."
The song you hear is the only version ever recorded because he did it in one take.
Never winner the grammy queen champions the world
you don't get the epic context out of it
That is what i am missing in their videos. Try to understand the songs and stop talking about other stuff while watching it.
@@mars76mr yep. That's why I'm a proud hater of this channel.
There are a lot of queen hidden gems that is awesome and amazing if appreciated music..by one of music analyst, this is the great vocals of a song by a dying man...freddie is still the best, decades after decades..
Sad, freddie knew he would die.!! Queen got better and better to the end, finally 1991 Inuendo!! The most successful album from queen.!!
You guys need earphones esp for Queen 👍💕
one of the most beautiful voices in ... WORLD!
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody (Live at Rock Montreal, 1981
Somebody to love, live at montreal, is probably the best live performance ive ever seen.
Freddie, John Lennon, MJ and Prince bring em back
Mj can, stay the fuck where he is. In Hell!! You people make me sick that you are even willing to overlook overwhelming evidence of paedophilia just because he was an incredible artist. What kind of sick world do I live in.
So George Harrison the other dead beatle along with John should stay dead while John is revived?
@@cancerandaids3822 George was too pure to come back to this putrid place, leave him be
If Jon loves Bohemian Rhapsody, then he would absolutely go GaGa over.... INNUENDO💕
It also looks like maybe Ashtyn has not yet seen I Want To Break Free?
Shame on you comparing Prince to Freddie Mercury ! Freddie was and always will be the greatest singer. The man was and is a legend
❤
Show must go on. was released after Freddie died in 1991 the video was made up from clips of his other performances. The pictures of Freddie in drag was from a video of
I don't if you heard this one but Brian, Roger and John did a tribute to Freddie called Only the Good Die Young / No One But You. Listen to it on UA-cam. Its Beautiful song.
The 80's was deffo the best decade ever.
End of Cobra Kai - 2x06 - Impossible not to cry with this song
With the pink top and wig: Video I want to break free. Hilarious funny!
I am so grateful that as a guy in his 50s, he grew up with these icons!
I'm grateful that my dad used the Queen's music as lullabies😅
Michael Jackson is the third one. And this non-reaction? This boomer grandma says to not react to any more Queen until you actually have some emotions. Sad, sad, these young people are.
Yeah dont blame a whole generation for one bad reaction. Ive seen loads of youngsters reacting to queen, and all were totaly blown away.
@@jamesfretwell1511 I did not blame a whole generation for their reaction to Queen. I said "these young people", meaning these two who paid 1/2 or less attention to the song and thought we would want to see their non-reaction to this classic. That's the better question--why post this at all? Won't inspire people to follow them on social media, not with this specific reaction video.
Hy guys...im italian freddi fan....and this is the perfect rocksong....thank you....
To still be able to produce a voice like that when dying of aids is amazing
But all over the world queen got more success and successful.!! The last album was Inuendo and it was the most successful queen album.!!
Please, react to These Are The Days Of Our Lives, Too Much Love Will Kill You, and No One But You (Only The Good Die Young) - all by Queen
And the show must go on, new things will come, old things wil show and or be copied, the message never dies, humans never dies, and while humans lives... the shows keeps going on ;-)
I love how you don't stop the video to talk, like other reaction videos. Your friend from Manchester, England, U. K.
You forgot David Bowie❤️
There are too many musical artist I wish were still a live Freddie being one near the top.Prince also was a huge loss for me but at least we have their music.
So listen to them with a tearful smile and enjoy the time we had with them.
THE SHOW MUST GO ON was recorded when Freddie Mercury was terminally ill with an aids related disease. He died a month later before it was released...
For me ...his best song it said it all and especially at the time.
I tear up whenever I hear this song
3:17.......NO WORDS...............
Next day Freddy mercury passed away
May his soul rests in peace
He kept rocking until his last breath even tho he was unable to move simply because he was HIV positive and He was dying from aids yet he took couple shots of vodka and succeeded in recording it in one shot
This is literally the voice of someone who's dying but he is alive within our hearts he is immortal the best frontman in history of the rock industry
02:31 I wish, i was born in the 90´s ?? Freddy died 1991 ...... wtf ???!!??
I love you Freddie Mercury 💕
All of these clips are from their videos and concerts
didnt want to say this....i was there.. :)
He was dying when he recorded this he was so weak he hat to sit down to perform the vocals 😢 but he smashed it
Hey you need to react to some queen live. Here are a few

These are just a few and all of them are incredible. Queen could do everything. And then there FREDDIE there are not enough word to explain how great Freddie really was.
R.I.P FREDDIE WE MISS YOU
WE HERE YOU SINGING FROM HEAVEN
Freddie Mercury Forever Legend
I’m a month late but the huge turn out you mentioned was “ live aid “ it was a huge fundraiser viewed by millions of people and the sing was sung and recorded on the last bit of Freddie’s life and it depicts him wanting to continue making music while battling he’s illness
The turnout was from knebworth, I believe
Freddie is the GOAT.
Wow. What a non reaction to an incredible song
Do some research on this song.
They barely said two words about the actual song, and talking about Prince while this great song was playing was SO irritating! 😖
Waste of time. No idea what they are looking at. Same as all their other "reactions"
I'm glad i'm not alone in this, and not being unfair too. Watched some other videos, same opinion..... Waste of time to watch like it is....
Freddie in drag is from the video for their song 'I want to break free' The video is a parody of a British t.v. show Freddie looks sexy in those heels😀
So I guess from watching this, you 2 are going to need to react to “I Want to Break Free”!!!!!! (A’s comment “I know we’ve seen that somewhere before”.) Please please. Not many react to that song. One of the best, and a banned video by MTV to boot!!!!!
Two queen secret weapon singing and playing the show must go on while they’re already realize they’re no longer to carry on
#invisible_hero #F_M #J_D #2020stillmissyou
Seriously, it would be hard to find a bad Queen song. Check out their live Wembley performances
This song hurts when you know he knows that he must die! The Song played at the Funeral
of my cousin😥😥😥😥😥😥
How are they not gonna know this song 🤦♀️
This some was written for Freddie as he was dying. He was too ill to film a video for the song so they used a compilation of all their other music videos for the song.
The reason why queen was not successful in the mid and late 80s was, freddie was gay.!! But he was bisexuall.!!
Cade voces brasil salvin ✌✌🇧🇷
She’s embarrassed when her drink falls down her chin😊
Я что через 10 лет должна смотреть 50 цент или Бьенсе. Блин ребят ну серьезно это песня была мне колыбельной!!!!!!!!!
This is a sad song because by the time they finished the song Freddie passed away and also all of this video is from his other songs like when he was dressed up as a girl that’s the song I want to break free
