- The purpose of me requesting they react to songs like these is just to expose them to music they may or may not have heard before, to expand their horizons and to sate my curiosity over whether they will like them or not. As such I don't really care about likes/dislikes on these video postings or even the popularity of my channel or theirs for that matter.
Also nothing is monetized on my channel so I make no money from posting them, they do these for me and I just post them here in case other people are curious what they think of these songs too after they send me them and I have watched them myself. Hard to imagine he knew he was dying in this video. His every effort put into laying down another timeless song knowing it would be immortal, as with his legacy!
He was propped up on the studio mixer when he recorded this, Brian was afraid he wasn't going to be able to hit those high notes, he was so sick, and offered to re write at a lower register, Freddie downed a vodka and said "no, I'll fucking do it darling" and did it in one take.
This shows that Freddie really cared about his fans

As someone who has seen Queen live twice, in 1980 & 1982, at the peak of their popularity I can tell you that they were phenominal in concert.
Freddy is without a doubt in the top 3 of all time greatest on stage performers.

I came across a ranking of bands with the best stage shows. In describing Queen (in the number one spot) they didn't have lasers, explosions, or intricate light shows. They had Freddie Mercury which is far more than all of that put together
Queen was harshly attacked by critics and yet proved that the real judge is the people on the street. They ignored the criticism and made Queen one of the most legendary bands in history. This was another of Queen's great legacies. It doesn't matter what the critics think. Don't let anyone tell you what you have to like or what you don't. There is no better judge for a person than oneself. A big hug and God save the Queen. We miss you Freddie.

Freddie Mercury sang this song in one take. Brian May had written it with the intention to sing it himself because Freddie at this point was so sick he didn't know if he could it. Freddie literally downed some vodka and said "Let's do this" and they got this rendition.
One of my absolute favorite Queen songs. Freddie was extremely sick when he recorded it and could barely stand up. He had only about 6 months left to live. And yet he sounds amazing and imo he's doing his best singing here. Brian May, the guitarist wrote the song about Freddie. They weren't sure if he was able to sing the song but Freddie downed some vodka and said "I'll fucking do it, darling" and just killed it. One of my favorite stories about him 😄❤❤❤❤
Glad you jumped in with this as they clearly didn't get the significance of this song. And I'm guessing they didn't get that as he was never able to perform it live, that it's made up of clips from old videos and concerts. Anyway, agree completely on it being a favorite.
Geez You constantly and stubbornly spread nonsense that The Show Must Go On was recorded 6 months before Freddie died. This song was released on album Innuendo on 4th February 1991 . It is about 9,5 months before Freddie died if I'm correct so the song was probably recorded at the end of 1990
Yes! and another favorite story is when Queen was in the studio where Sex Pistols were also recording.. when Queen was there, "Sid Vicious" showed up, all drunk and drugged out - and Freddie called him "Simon Ferocious" - in a mocking way... and when Sid was still behaving poorly, Fred went and "grabbed him by the lapels" - and just PUT him out... many people did not realize how physically strong Freddie was - grew up as a "boxer" -- I LOVE this story - I believe it b/c I have seen & read it from numerous sources - including Roger Taylor..
The last song Freddie recorded was "Mother Love"...and he didn't get to finish it, Brian had to complete the vocals. However, yes he was ill when they recorded this track and Freddie did it in one take apparently. I think if you listen to the lyrics, it's Freddie saying 'no matter how I am, the show must go on'..the man worked until he couldn't work any longer. Respect. RIP Freddie.

Queen have always been my favourite band and Freddie Mercury my musical hero. You have Legends like Pele, Muhammad Ali, Ayrton Senna and many more who are a one off, but for music it's Freddie Mercury who we will never see the likes of again. My name is Mark Daniels. My brother Paul contracted HIV in 1987 when he ran away from home. He went to London chasing a dream of a professional dancer. Sadly it never happened.
He returned home with us in 1990 and told his family he was infected and his heart broken along with our family and it finally took him in January 2020.
My brother was beautiful and had a hearty of gold and for everything bad he did he regretted.
When he died I reflect to this song because the pain was there but the love was genuine l. I love u Paul and you Freddie.

I would just bring back Freddie Mercury as he is the greatest singer and showman of all time. The huge crowd that you saw was a Queen Concert at Knebworth House, Knebworth, Hertfordshire, England just a couple of miles from where I live in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England. At the Concert was between 250,000 and 300,000 Queen fans. As a Queen fan since the early 1970's I tried to get a ticket but they were sold out within 1 hour, but I could hear it from my back Garden. Love your reaction, Jon now I know why you are intelligent, you are a Queen fan and a Freddie Mercury fan. Freddie was so sick when they did this... One take for the singing and this is what they got. Perfection and one of the most emotional songs of all time. Freddie was a legend and will be missed for as long as there is music.

One of Queens greatest tracks, I have heard this I cant count and I never get tired of hearing it. The last song to be released in the UK before Freddie died, "These are the days of our lives" was released the day after he died with "Bohemian Rhapsody" as a double A side. Bohemian Rhapsody is the only song in the UK to released twice with it being no1 in 4 different years and Christmas no1 twice in the UK, 1975/76 & 1991/92, I don't think anyone else has matched it but I live to learn

As some of the other commenters said, Freddie was terminally ill when this was recorded. He knew the end was coming and he delivered this amazing vocal performance. The video is a compilation of many Queen videos because Freddie was too ill to be on camera. To see how AIDs affected him you need to see the amazing These Are The Days of our Lives video. So sad but still an amazing performance. The last video appearance of Mr Mercury. Some scenes in this video were taken from the I Want To Break Free video where the band dressed in drag to spoof a popular TV show in England. The gag did not translate well to American audiences who did not know the show and did not appreciate the long comedic tradition of British humor for men to dress in drag. See: Monty Python, Benny Hill, etc... The video was actually banned on MTV while wildly sexual and violent videos were played round the clock. Its too bad because that was one of the factors that led to Queen no longer performing in the United States much before Freddie died. I was lucky enough to see Queen live during the Game tour. I was just a kid but its still the best concert I have ever seen.
Well, being born in the early 90's you still got a lot of other great music, and still get to hear this. I take it as a win. Now, the issues surfacing today might be another reason to not love the times we're living in... But you could have been born in the 20's, 30's, 40's or 50's... This video is a compilation of other Queen music videos, because Freddie was too sick at this point to do a music video. Guitarist Brian May wrote the song for Freddie, this is a very difficult song to sing, and Freddie practically recorded it in one take, whilst he was dying.

@@mori1bund As a Queen since 80ies I know most the facts about Queen . There were two Queen singles that reached no 1 in UK in 1991. innuendo and These Are The Days Of Our Lives/Bohemian Rhapsody. Both went sraight to number one. Innuendo in January and TATDOOL/BR in December. Zenobia probably mixes up The Show Must Go On w ith These Are Days Of Our Lives

This some was written for Freddie as he was dying. He was too ill to film a video for the song so they used a compilation of all their other music videos for the song.
So for the movie, Bohemian Rhapsody, why they didn’t decide to end the movie with Freddy going out the way he did in real life by singing this song, while facing his own mortality. Instead of the movie ending with them performing the iconic live age show is beyond me like it would’ve been a way more triumphant, emotional ending. Because that’s what happened in real life you see that’s one of the major things that pissed me off about the movie is how unrealistic it was to the truth about the bands history. Like they added a bunch of shit in the movie that did not happen just for dramatic affect because apparently they didn’t want to show people the truth about the band and also the reality of Freddys battle with aids. Instead, they just wanted to make a bland, generic boring bio pic for the hot topic crowd. Because they just wanted everybody going home feeling better about themselves instead of making people feel the weight of the reality of the band, and how Freddie Mercury really died. The movie was really bad. It could’ve been so much better like for a band like queen, who was big, an epic and larger than life that’s exactly how they should’ve made the movie because that’s how the band was in real life. They should’ve made it bigger and epic and larger than life. Instead, it’s just a bland, generic uninspiring greatest hits biopic for the fucking hot topic crowd. It was a terrible movie like I personally thought the biopic about Mötley Crüe was better than this because the thing is, they didn’t shy away from the reality of the bands history. Like they showed you the nitty-gritty reality of motley Crue‘s rise to fame and the sex and the drugs and the Mayham that they caused. And also another thing I hated about the movie was how they represented Freddie Mercury like you got to understand something. Freddie was a very confident man put in the movie they make it seem like he’s conflicted about his sexuality. Like that’s not true, he was never conflicted. He was a very confident man. And also another thing that wasn’t true was when Freddy told is bandmates about him having aids. They made it seem like he told the band before live aid, which is a bunch of bullshit that never happened. Freddie Mercury told his band mates after live aid. And why they didn’t have this song featured in the film is beyond me. Oh yeah, I forgot it’s because it didn’t become a big hit so basically the biopic was pointless because all it was was just a greatest hits sing-along biopic movie. It’s a goddamn shame because the show must go on should have been a huge hit. I mean, for god sake’s Freddie Mercury sang this song, while facing his own mortality, and he recorded it in one take while before the band was, fearing that he wasn’t going to be able to hit the notes because of how ill he was.

@Bill Blackman Hi Bill. If you search on Queens album Innuendo you see that the last track is, Show must go on. And that album was in fact released in the 4 of February 1991 in UK. October the 14 1991 they released a single from the album with Show Must go on in UK. Only six weeks before Freddie passed away.
But all over the world queen got more success and successful.!! The last album was Inuendo and it was the most successful queen album.!!
