I'd like to say hello to all the fans of Queen and those of you who are viewing this reaction. Please let me know your experience with Queen and why they are such a legendary band. I only know the radio songs so I'm eager to get into their library. Stay safe out there and much love to everyone. Thanks 👏✌
Hello, I hope you read this although I think my comment could get a little big. Even if it is big just read this first sentence. So Your Reaction was great I loved it. I'll write all the Band members and what they do and some extra stuff I hope it'll help you a little. (I finished this comment now and of course it got big but if you Really want to get knowledge about Queen then read this 😅) Freddie Mercury: Lead Singer, Plays Piano, Greatest Front man on earth. (he is not the Leader of the Band, they don't like to have a Leader and Freddie himself also said that.) Brian May: Lead Guitarist, Background Singer (he also sings sometimes Lead) he is also an astrophysicist. Brian Build his Guitar with his Dad when he was 16, his Guitar is pretty Special and sounds very different to normal E Guitars. His Guitar is called The Red Special and he still uses that one till today. The Guitar is build out of some random stuff he found at home with his dad. So to that, there was a over 100 year old firewood he said. So His Guitar isn't actually 57 years old, it's even over 100 years old. So The Red Special gives Queen that Special ''Queen Sound''. Roger Taylor: Great Drummer, Background Singer (also sings sometimes Lead) He is the High Singer of the Group, He is a High Tenor and he often did some great Falsettos. (I think the note he actually very often hit was the Note A5). People say he isn't a Good Drummer but I really think they didn't see everything of him. Well yeah so he sings and drums at the same time in the Background. He really is a Great background singer for Freddie because when Freddie needs to catch a breath or forgets the lyrics or something Roger really helps Freddie and of course the same thing just the other way around. (when Roger for example needs to catch breath) Roger said catching the next breath while singing and drumming is the hardest thing for him. So I really respect him, but not just him THE WHOLE BAND IS TOO AWESOME. John Deacon: Bassist, he is the quite guy in Queen, He is an Engineer and he Build Special amps for Brian. He is the only one that doesn't sing but he sung very very Occasionally. All Band members have written more than 1 Number One Hits. All of them can also play Many More instruments but they mostly play it like I have written 👆 They are 4 equal band members in their own right. My experience with Queen... Idk how to explain, but they are such an Legendary Band because they don't stick to One Genre, they already were _everywhere_ but still they are a British Rock Band. They have inspired MANY People, such as the drummer from the Foo Fighters Taylor Hawkins, He also has the name Taylor in it because Roger Taylor (the drummer from Queen 👆) was one of his Role models, Queen also heavily inspired Michael Jackson, for example his performances, his songs, and even his Glove. What also makes them Special is how they create songs and how they Harmonize with their Voices and instruments. Freddie was a really special one, He loved Opera and made an whole album with one of his favorite Opera singers. Freddie can actually sing just as high as Roger but I'll tell it to you like this, since the beginning of Queen Roger always was the One making the high notes and Freddie was just ''figuring out his Voice'' until it became the absolute best. In 1982 Roger lost his Falsettos and it of course was already 9 years since Queens start and Freddie's voice really improved. With that being said after 1982 Freddie was actually the high singer. But no matter if he was the high singer, Roger still sang a bit higher when they still harmonized their voices, Roger is as I said a High Tenor and Freddie is a High Baritone with makes his Voice deeper as rogers. Probably a big reason I love Queen so much is because they are like 4 Solo artists in One band which makes them just the number 1 of bands that could ever existed (of course there are more great bands but I think you get what I'm trying to say) But really I think one of the main things is that Freddie really did sing his butt of till months before his dead. He really loved his Fans and he loved music. He did everything till he couldn't anymore. Here in the Show Must Go On (which is my Favorite Queen Song) you can really hear what a Great singer he is. He couldn't even stand up anymore and he was still singing 1000% better than today's healthy people. Freddie was just one of the Greatest singers. Brian May wrote The Show Must Go On and he wrote it in the situation with Freddie so this was actually about Freddie. Have you ever heard a dying mean making such an Angel High Note ( at 6:33 he hit an D5) and the last thing before I write my last thing is I want to talk about their Voices, Freddie's is really smooth and _GodLike._ Brian's sounds a bit like Freddie's but not that much, he has a nice Voice too but idk how to really explain. Roger has a Rock Raspy Voice but his Falsetto's sound Angelic. So the Last thing I want to say is that if you heard We Will Rock You and think that is something special from Queen... it is not. Imo it is not even catchy. It repeats itself and has a short guitar solo. They could have done so much better than that, But they actually have 😂 They have a Fast Version of the song. AND THAT Really fixes everything for me so please react to _1. We Will Rock You (fast version) - Queen Live in Montreal 1981 [1080p HD Blu-Ray Mux]._ Just a reminder please give it up for the Whole band and not just Freddie. You already did it right but I just wanted to remind 😅 They have tooooo many great songs. Just One thing from them doesn't help to understand them. You will get A LOT of request to many stuff from them. I think for the start I said everything that had to be said. Sorry again for this big text.
the QUEEN catalogue is huge. you´ll arguably find their core/best studiowork inbetween 1975 and 1978 and their greatest live-performances in the 80ies. start with: 1) Somebody to love (live montreal 1981) 2) Queen Live at Live Aid 1985 (full 20 minutes). if you want it rougher, look for "gimme the prize", "sheer heart attack" and "tie your mother down"
My dad was and is a huge Queen fan. I remember growing up listening to Queen. Although I was 5 when Freddie died, I remember being so sad that I was never going to be able to experience them live. But to this day ( I’m 33) I listen to Queen every day. My favourite album is A Night at the Opera
Great reaction!!! We love you to start the Queen journey. They were so diverse, and still being loved after so many years. I always loved Queen, but most the popular songs. Through the movie Bohemian Rhapsody I discovered Queen all over again and more. They have an impressive and amazing catalogue❤ Much Love and bless for your wife and a big hug from the Netherlands.
Isn't it a shame? Freddie was like good wine, he got better with age. He quit smoking and touring due to AIDS, which helped rest and smooth out his brilliant voice. The results are his best vocals on his last complete album. A dying man with better vocals than most other vocalists in their prime. Freddie was truly special.
I did a reaction to Queen - Somebody to Love (Love in Montreal) this afternoon and I don't know what it is but I was fighting back tears... again. I was watching a group absolutely crush a song and it just makes me sad... sad that the will never get to perform again. Freddie was one hell of a musician. I have some other reactions to edit before that one but I am pumped to get to it. Thank you for your time and just know that I appreciate your comment. I appreciate you 🙌✌
There is reason Brian May's guitar has a unique sound. It is a unique guitar, it is called The Red Special and he and his dad built it when he was a teenager. It is made out of odds and ends, including an old mantelpiece, a tabletop, mother of pearl buttons, a knitting needle and all done with hand tools! Also he uses a unique amp, built by their bass player John Deacon out of scrap he found in a skip, called the Deacy Amp.
One other great guitar player who's friends with Brian May (I think it was Eddie Van Halen, but I'm not sure) said once, he switched guitars with Brian, but when they played Brian still sounded like typical Brian (even with the different guitar) and he still sounded like himself and not like the typical Queen guitar sound. So there's probably more to it than the Red Special and the Deacy Amps alone. :-)
Oh my God, I am already old and have been a Queen lover since my youth. And never knew all those spectaculer details of Brian' unic sound and guittar. Thank you very much for sharing with us.
This was written by Dr. Brian May the guitar player. This was his goodbye to Freddie who was near death at this point from Aids. The band decided they were going to keep making music until Freddie was dead so this is Brian saying goodbye by fulfilling that wish "the show must go on" A lot of people think this is Freddie's goodbye song, it's not, that song is "Was it all worth it?" on The Miracle album.
I'm glad that you left me this comment. I learn so much about these bands that I react to from my viewers. It's a grim way to look at life, "The Show Must Go On", but it's also reality. I probably should've used the official video, as some told me, but I wasn't sure about their copyrights. I get very angry when videos get blocked. Thank you for your interest and I do appreciate the information... happy new year!!
Yes Freddie was very ill when he sang this, so much so they had him propped up on the mixer in the studio. Brian wrote it, but Freddie being so sick was afraid the high notes would be to strenuous on him and offered to re write at lower notes for him, Freddie downed a vodka and replied "I'll fucking do it darling" and is said was done in one take. If you are just starting the Queen journey, keep in mind they were ALWAYS better live than what was produced from the studio, so if there is a song you "think" you dont like, revisit a live version before deciding. I was not a big fan of radio gaga until I watched the live version and is now one of my favorites...lol. Yes they were better than any editing machine. It actually took away from their talent instead of helping it like it does for other artists. But then again Freddie has been called the human auto tune!
They had to prop him up when he was singing “those are the days of our lives”, Which was the last song he ever did. Also check out “ I am going slightly mad” You can also check out the last album he was on, “made in heaven”
As someone who likes Russia a lot, the Vodka thing made me smile. If I had been there, I will have shouted ДА БЛЯТЬ ТЫ ЭТО ДЕЛАЕШЬ! (Indeed you FUCKING do it!)
@@dianedent5564: ''Those are the days of our lives'' was not the last song he did. The last ever song he recorded was ''Mother Love'', and that song he couldn't completed, because his illness. Brian May sang the last couplet!!!
That is Brian May on guitar. One of the best guitar player in the world. Freddie will go down as one of the best frontmen that ever lived. And he is always in the top 5 as the best singer. Try Mother Love it was the last song he ever recorded. Actually he never finished it. He was so sick he told the band he would come back and finish it. He never did. Brian sang the last verse. But if that song doesn’t send chills up your spine, I don’t know what will. You really need to keep digging into Queen. You will not be disappointed. One of the best bands ever, ever! And Freddie was such a perfectionist. Nothing got recorded unless it lived up to his expectations.
Hello @Anja Teich!! I hope that you are doing well and staying healthy!! This song gets better and better each time I listen to it!! Lots of love for you... appreciate all your support ✌💥😊
@@DannymikReacts Since you say you're a metalhead, and since some say that Queen didn't know how to rock hard, you might well enjoy "Sheer Heart Attack", "Stone Cold Crazy", and "Hitman". I recommend all of them. Queen made an enormous song catalogue, they could and did do anything and everything. "The Show Must Go On" is from their last album made while Freddie was still living - Innuendo - a masterpiece of an album. You're starting at the end. Innuendo was the next-to-last album. Their final album was "Made in Heaven". Freddie died in 1991. Deacon, May and Taylor, still grieving, reconvened in the studio in 1994 to work with vocals Freddie had laid down prior to his death, the resultant Made in Heaven album becoming probably the best-crafted bow-out by a band ever. (Best to leave that album for after you've gotten to know the band and their life trajectories.)
Okay, here we go now! Queen is one of those bands that will always live on in this world. The loss of Freddie Mercury was so tragic and left a large hole in the rock world. Great song to start with and I hope you keep going. This was written by the guitarist Brain May and it fit perfectly with what was going on. Thanks for doing this one!
Queen continues to tour the world for the past seven plus years with Adam Lambert as front man prior to that a couple of other singers but the tours of Queen never stopped. They continue to have standing room only concerts across the world.
Hello @Lars Pallesen! I do NOT want to mess around when it comes to Queen. People absolutely love this band so there's no games here... actually, I take all my reactions fairly serious and give the viewers an honest bit of feedback. Glad you clicked on this one... thank you and I hope you are doing okay 💥✌👏
About this song, Brian May said: "It was unspoken at the time. We did not sit around talking about Freddies illness. Nobody wanted to. But it was very much out there. Casting a shadow over the studio. ... We were messing around with some chord sequences, and the song just lept into my head. So vividly that I sort of questioned whether I'd heard it somewhere else. I could hear (it) so clearly in my head. When we had an odd moment. Everybody had gone. I just put down a demo of it."
When watching live performances be sure to watch for drummer Roger Taylor singing - phenomenal! Also, know that Freddie did not consider himself the 'leader', the other members were not 'his guitarists', a common misunderstanding. They were equals. Freddie was the natural front man, LOL, to say the least.
Thank you to your wife for her service to all of us in this time of need and hope you and your family remain safe. This song is awesome queen such a classic group. Great analysis and reactions as always bud.
I absolutely love this song! We literally watched Bohemian Rhapsody last night. If you haven’t watched it and like Queen I suggest to give it a watch. It was SO good! Freddie's voice is amazing! LOVE LOVE LOVE this reaction video! Much love to your wife also for going out and taking care of people in this crisis. Stay safe my friend.
Thank you for that really good reaction! I loved that you didn’t try to analyse the lyrics too much and that you commented on the quality of Freddie’s voice and the music it’s self. Brian May is the only guitarist in Queen. He made his guitar when he was young along with his father, out of wood from an old fireplace and that’s why he had such a distinct guitar sound. He writes most of the “rockier” songs, two of which are “It’s Late” and “Gimme the Prize”. I’d love it if you could react to them. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
One of the favorite songs, the guitar, the bass line, a very privileged voice, Freddie could put any emotion in his interpretations, any one ... in this track his voice is so clean and pure, incredible for a very sick man at the time , My favorite singer of all times
The fact that he barely made it through this one as he knew his life was ending soon is chilling to me. The more I learn about Queen the more I respect what they did. Thank you for the view and I hope you guys don't mind if I react to more of their music. Have a great day 👏✌
Freddy was like so talented as a singer, writer, composer, he played several instruments. What a legend! This year will mark his 30 year leaving this earth.
You say 30 years... damn time flew by us. I remember some AIDS concert (that was HUGE) way back when I was a teen. Thanks for taking a little time and checking this one out!
Went to see Queen in 82' and got to meet Freddie! I've been to a lot of concerts, and that one is without a doubt, the very best one. It was incredible! It was a total surprise to say the least
Thank you so much for the kind words... my wife is really a great person. It's been tough on her but she's holding it together. Appreciate the view and comment 😎✌
The thing is the fact Freddies vocal is phenomenal always, this vocal was done when he was extremely ill and May didn't think he could do it but Freddie in typical Freddie style just smashed it. Amazing
That doesn't surprise me at all. Freddie was a perfectionist and must've knew that he had it in him to nail it. I love learning more about this band from all you who love Queen. Thank you for your time :)
You should listen to Mother Love. It was his last song, he never got to finish it. When he was in the later stages of his life, he would often record parts of a song and come back the next day to finish it. Unfortunately with Mother Love, that day never came. Brian May sang the final part of the song after Freddie died, and the pain that you can hear in Brian's voice is heartbreaking.
My personal favorite is "My Fairy King". It's from their debut album, and a great look back at where Freddie and the band came from and how far they had already come before anyone even knew them. I obviously highly recommend it, it's not a well known song to casual fans so it would be great for more people to discover it. "Barcelona" (from Freddie's collaborative album recorded with the opera singer Montserrat Caballe, also titled "Barcelona"), is also absolutely wonderful and one of my top songs of all time ever.
Freddie singing this kills a piece of me every time I listen to it. He was such a beautiful man with a totally freakin awesome talent and none of these days non talented auto tune bs. They wish they could come close to even getting near his shoes coz nobody will ever fill them. Rest in forever love Freddie, you were and still are a legend
Music nowadays is just NOT good. Marc Martel does a great job covering Freddie but he's not "The Man". This was so enjoyable to watch and react to... Queen is the real deal!! Thank you so much for the view and comment :)
Brian May wrote this song, about watching Freddie writing, recording & performing as much as he could knowing that he was dying; he did his vocals in one take, sick as hell. BADASS!
If you want to listen to Queen properly, you must do Queen Live at any of their concerts. The Montreal 1981 Concert, is one of their greatest, along with Freddie's last live tour with Queen, 1986 Wembley. At Montreal try Somebody To Love, it will blow your mind!
Agree, listens to their live concert all the time during my work out and before going to bed. This is so addictive😊🤗 and Freddie's voice it's amazingly good..and very angelic..👍👍Big fan...
Yes! Their live shows are still amazing all these years later. Freddie was the consummate performer and would control the audience. I hope to see more Queen reacts!
This song hits so many spots for me, this was a song I held close to my heart during times I thought I couldn't get back up. I am a big fan of Freddie Mercury and Queen growing up.
the songs „dragon attack“, „white man“, „tenement funster“, „loser in the end“, „death on two legs“, „prophet song“, „soul brother“ or „mustapha“ are just very few great tunes which are showing the immense diversity of their creations.
I was a Queen fan when I was a teenager during the 70’s, showing my vintage now...but I lost them during the 80’s when I got married and had my family. The Bohemian Rhapsody movie brought them back into my life and I’m so grateful for it. I can suggest a couple of live performances right off the bat that you should not miss. Somebody to Love live at Montreal 1981 and Under Pressure live at Wembley 1986. The have an enormous catalogue of music, so diverse and as a rule their live versions of songs were better than the studio versions. Those two songs will get you hooked though, and from there you can dive in. Thank you for a great reaction. It’s a nice change to have a reactor actually listen to the lyrics and make some intelligent comments, so I’ll subscribe just for that alone, but if you watch more Queen, I’ll watch with you! I hope you and your family stay safe during this crazy time. I live in Australia and our government were pretty quick to close things down so we are starting to ‘flatten the curve’ as they say, but I see on the news everything that is happening in the US and elsewhere in the world, so I wish you all the best.
Leona Vanderkruk I would add the 1974 live at the Rainbow, especially if you like hard rock & metal ( Stone ColdCrazy & Liar) and also 1975 live at Odeon-Hammersmith (White Queen)
'May said...Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling'-vodka down-and went in and killed it,
Sorry to hear that, Jason! Let me know if I can help with anything by listening... I am dealing with Covid right now but I can do my best if needed. Thank you for supporting the video and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
As a diehard Queen fan, you earned a sub from me, Freddie is perhaps the greatest frontman to ever live and thanks to the music that he, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon his music and vocal superiority will live on, Brian May and John Deacon were the guitarists, Freddie, Brian and Roger wrote most of their music.
Great reaction! You have a good ear for music of all kinds, which I appreciate. You really pick up on the obvious as well as the intricate. Please react to anything from their Wembley Stadium concert. You can't go wrong with a choice. Your wife and kids are beautiful! Prayers for safety for you all. Stay well. ❤🙋♀️👏👏👍🇺🇲❤
R.I.P. Freddie Your wife if def a real life hero! You have such a beautiful family!! Gotta love the classics! Freddie def has a huge range in his vocals! One of a kind for sure! Great video and stay safe!
Hey fellow NYer, I’m down in Long Island. Give your wife an extra hug. Queen has a huge catalogue & this is toward the end of their time with Freddie. 💔 Brian May wrote this for his dying friend. And for the end of Queen itself.....at least as it was originally formed for 20+ years.
Danny, your reaction video was on my recommended list. You are so strong to be sharing your private life and your wonderful wife who I have nothing but the greatest respect for. I hope that when we finally get through this pandemic together, you can look back on this video as a sign that when all is said and done "The show must go on" Subscribed to you too!! Stay strong, all the very best to you and your family. Greetings from the UK 🇬🇧 to the 🇺🇸
I often share these intimate things because I feel some of you viewers appreciate a personal side and that I don't want to be robotic. This is a fun little hobby that has become a normal part of my life. I enjoy comments like yours... people who care and express that you appreciate what us UA-camrs do. And then we have Queen... what more could be said!! Thank you so much for your time✌🙌👏
@@DannymikReacts Anytime. Btw I have a song choice for you. Everyone wants to rule the world. Tears for fears. Stay safe and the very best to your adventures ❤️
I so glad that you liked the song and found it interesting to watch my reaction. Freddie Mercury is an icon and I want to learn more about him and the band Queen. Thank you and please stay safe ✌😊
Thank you for sharing ! I heard that Freddie did this song in 1 take ! Another song that's pretty good , has a lot of guitar is the song called "The Hit Man " , it's also from the 1991 "Innuendo" album , Freddie's voice is incredible in it being it was made near the end of his life , worth a listen to ! The guitarist of the band is Brian May , his guitar is called "The Red Special " that his father many years ago helped him build 👍🎸!!!!!
Queen is therapy.... I remember when I heard he died ...November 24, 1991.. remember what I was wearing, where I was, the way the air felt... and it broke my heart. React to Queen's Live Aid set. Best performance ever. Also, Brian May, guitarist is also an astrophysicist- he and his dad built a guitar when he was 17 from scratch. The Red Special. He still uses it, and it has a very recognizable sound. There are too many songs to suggest any, just know some of the best gems are hidden in albums and didn't get played on the radio. Maybe listen to the entire Jazz album one day. Awe, listen to it all. 👑
Freddie recorded this months before passing away. He was in a lot of pain and could barely walk or stand for long periods, as he had lost part of his foot by that time. He was very thin, weak, and frail, but all he wanted to do was to keep singing and making music. He asked the band to keep giving him things to sing, even if there was no time to record instrumentals first, because he knew they would finish producing the songs later (and they did - that's their 1995 album "Made in Heaven"). This song was from the last album Freddie did get to see released ("Innuendo", in 1991). There were many rumors about his health, but no, it wasn't confirmed until the day before his death in November of 1991. The vocals on this song are incredibly difficult, and the guitarist Brian (who did write this with Freddie in mind) was worried he wouldn't be able to sing it, sick as he was. Freddie propped himself up on the recording table (he could no longer stand and sing), took a shot of vodka, and said "I'll f**king do it, darling." You'd never know he was dying from the sound of his voice here. Definitely a song we can all listen to and be inspired by now. I wish all the best to you, your wife, and your family!
Lauren Raubaugh ... dear Lauren.., nothing else to say.... just that I love and admired Freddie’s courage to face his illness... and the way he try to gave us all his music... !! 💔💔💔💔
Thank you for posting this moving reaction video. The Show Must Go On is possibly my favorite Queen song. It's also such a fitting song for our current situation. I hope you and your family remain safe throughout the crisis.
Awesome... then I'm glad that you got to see me react to this one. I have a ton of Queen to check out and that's very exciting! I appreciate the kind words as we ALL try to get through this. Thank you and stay safe ✌😊
Another masterpiece of songwriting by Brian May and a fantastic delivery by Freddie. I’m sure you’ll get many suggestions as the Queen fans are very devoted😊 and their catalog is huge. Love watching reactions by people who are new to Queen. From another upstate NYer (live near Utica).
React to Somebody To Love Live Montreal 81. I first heard Queen in 1974 75 .KILLER Queen was the first song I heard. Been Fan ever since. You know Freddie. Brian May is the lead Guartist/singer. He made his guitar with his Dad with parts around his house when he was a teenager. He calls it The Red Special. He also has a PHD in Astrophysics. The Drummer is Roger Taylor/singer He has a degree in Biology. The Bassist is John Deacon. He also has a degree in Electrical Engineering. He made a amp for the band called the Deaky Am p. John retired from the band in1997 and then from music all together. He took Freddiez Death the hardest and just could not do it without Freddie. They all wrote songs and they are the only band that each of them had number one song. They started in 1970 to 1991. YEARS After Freddie Died, Brian and Roger decided they wanted to tour again so they have a couple different frontman thru the years, BUT now they Have Adam Lambert. They have been touring as Queen and Adam Lambert. Back in 2018 the Movie Bohemian Rhapsody came out. Watch It if you like. It is Pretty Good. Their is alot more info, check out do umentaries on UA-cam.
Great reaction! It is impressive how you have actually looked at the history behind the song before doing the reaction. This is the last album Freddie Mercury did. The Show Must Go On hit number one on the UK charts a month before Freddie's death. The band was quite close and Brian May (lead guitarist) wrote to the song for Freddie, it is somewhat of a goodbye song from the band to Freddie. Luckily Queen is not very strict when it comes to copyright. It would be good to check out some of Queen's live performances. You should check out Innuendo another song from Queen's last album. Freddie's voice was at it's best right before he died.
I saw Queen live twice. The second time at Wembley stadium in July 1986 on their final tour. Freddie was the best front man of any band ever. Have a look at the video, the opening was as good as you'll see. Lead guitar is Brian May, one of the best. The guitar you hear was home made by Brian and his father from various parts around the house. For example, the body was from part of an old oak table. Have a look at These are the Days of Our Lives and Mother Love, two of the last songs Freddie made.
Wowza this got A TON of views man, and rightfully so. Freddie Mercury has one of the greatest voices. He was one of the greatest gifts that was ever given to music - such a shame that we lost him so young. Great reaction as always!
Just scrolling YT videos to listen to some music and found you reacting to Freddie. I am a grandma who lives on a cattle ranch in the middle of the country and I am crying for the loss of Freddie way to soon. I have been a huge fan of Queen and especially Freddie since the 80's. Please react to much more of Queen !!!
This song is one of the few sings that has helped me through my depression and still does. Its an emotional song on so many levels for me on a personal level. Also Brian May was the one who wrote this. You should watch and react to the music video as well. Edit : he still killed their performance when he already had Aids. Killed it when he had problems vocally because of his sickness. And no one new he had aids until he publicly announced it. I love the respect you showed for Mother Mercury even when your not a big fan of theirs. So much respect and always love your reactions.
Wow, I never knew that but I'm glad you shared it with me. Always know that YOU are awesome! Music will help get us through the worst of times and I'm glad many people use it as an escape. Those few minutes sometimes work wonders as it has for you. Thank you for always leaving me something I enjoy reading... much appreciation and love ✌👏
I Love This Song!!!! The story I've heard was Freddie knew he was dieing... and just wanted to make music.. Brian May (guitarist) Wrote the song.. Presented to Freddie and asked if he could do the song.. He knew what the song was about.. Said Darling I can fucking sing anything.. Leaned against a table, drank a vodka on the rocks and sang the song in ONE TAKE!!! On a personal note his fans didn't know he had AIDS... I was excited about the song when it was released because I thought Queen would do another tour to support the song!!! A couple of months later he announced he had AIDS, and died the next day.. As a Queen fan since I was ten, I was totally heartbroken... I have seen Queen and there current line up and when Paul Rodgers sang with the band.. I saw Queen and it's original line up in Phx Az on September 10, 1981 and is by far the best concert I have ever had seen!!!!! This is the first reaction video I have seen of yours... Keep up the good work!!! May the Creator watch over you and your family... Especially your wife... I have a cousin who is a CNA in PHX.. she is under self quarantine right now because of and exposure incident in the rehab facility she works at.. Take Care and Good Luck..
thanks for your reaction, perhaps this was posted by others, but anyway: "credited to Queen, but written mainly by Brian May. The song chronicles the effort of Freddie Mercury continuing to perform despite approaching the end of his life, although his diagnosis with HIV/AIDS had not yet been made public in spite of ongoing media speculation claiming that he was seriously ill. Mercury was so ill when the band recorded the song in 1990 that May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it. Recalling Mercury's performance, May states; "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling' - vodka down - and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal".
Thanks so much.. my wife really is a special person (hence marrying her 😉). I'm glad that you enjoyed this one. I was really excited to get it edited and up on UA-cam... so much potential to dive into with a band like Queen. Hope to chat with you in the future. Please stay safe and remain healthy ✌😊
I think this is the only rock band where all 4 members of the band wrote #1 hit songs. Do yourself a favor and watch Queen at the Live Aid concert. It's 30 minutes where you won't be able to take your eyes off the performance. Legend.
Danny, thanks for this. You seem to be a very intelligent, sensitive person. Brian May, the guitarist of Queen, wrote that song. You will be so amazed when you learn more about Freddie Mercury and Queen!
Hi there..the king of pop!! A true legend!! Unique guy in his own right! .. His life story!!.. Life goes on!! ..pure genius!! May 2021 be a better place for all of us!!.. Liked your reaction!!
Brian did write this with Freddie in mind but also a bit about himself I think, because Brian admittedly has struggled with depression at times in his life, and watching his friend's health deteriorate was very difficult for him. At the same time, the fate of Queen as a band was not optimistic. With Freddies impending death, even the band was presumed to be slowly dying, none of the members could even imagine Queen without Freddie. So in my opinion, this song hits hard on a lot of levels. Brian May is not only an outstanding quitar player, he is a solid song writer, as well. Brian really didn't expect for Freddie to sing this song, but Freddie kept coming into the studio and asking his bandmates to please give him stuff to sing and then they could do whatever they wished with it in the future. I think that the impact of Freddie singing this song really sets it apart in so many ways. This song has become very popular as of late and has had many covers due to the current situation with Covid-19. Several musicians and theatre groups have also put this song out as a way to raise money for all those who help them while they are recording or touring, roadies, techs, costuming people, performers, etc. who are struggling at this point because most are self employed and not eligible for assistance and of course that part of the industries are completely shut down. So once again, another Queen song experiences another resurgence.
This is one song I would have loved to have hear him sing when he was at his strongest. Freddie started to struggle with his voice due to the illness on the magic tour thats why you hear Rodger doing more vocals to support him .Freddie knew on that tour he wasn't going to be able to carry on much longer with the live shows. We were all robbed of one hell of a performer taken way to soon RIP Freddie Mercury .
Since you are a metalhead, I think you should like some older Queen stuff. For example "Stone Cold Crazy" that you probably knew because Metallica covered it. Or "Ogre Battle", "White Man", "Death On Two Legs" or "Dead On Time". This is all 70s stuff. Or for the 80s/90s (Freddie died in 1991) "Gimme the price" or "The Hitman". These are the heaviest that I can think of. I think you could also enjoy some Queen greatest hits like "Innuendo" or "Under Pressure" (with David Bowie, you probably already listened to that) or some fan favourites like "The March of the Black Queen" or "Tie your mother down". Well, actually there are so many that I can't really suggest only a couple.
Good day bro. Never heard this song before, not sure how I missed it. These lyrics are deep. I know there was a recent film made about Freddie Mercury but I have not checked it out yet. At 6:40 love that solo, its short but fits perfectly before reaching the climax. Freddie's voice was very unique, I think by far if you did not the band Queen you would most certainly know the voice instantly. The labels are strict with many of the last bands you are mentioning, I guess you would just have to try it and see what can pass. Thanks for another great reaction bro.
Hello Frankie Bones!!! It could be because we are a couple of metalheads who were somewhat away from music like Queen. I was all about the heavy stuff and some hip-hop when I grew up and Queen was alright, but just not what I was craving. However, I LOVE the Flash Gordon soundtrack.... go figure! Thank you for all the awesome support and thanks for the livestream earlier today... good times!! Stay healthy Bruh 👊💥🤘
@@DannymikReacts Queen actually does have a lot of metal, or proto metal songs. In their early days (first 3 albums) they were known as a heavy metal band. They were compared with Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. Queen is generally credited with creating the first trash metal songs, Stone cold Crazy ua-cam.com/video/T8Rfb1Jtmic/v-deo.html or Ogre Battle ua-cam.com/video/551gRH3dGEE/v-deo.html. I suggest you check out this live performance, it is two song mashed together Son & Daughter and Modern Times Rock 'n Roll from Queen's debut album ua-cam.com/video/6feQipHx3Xg/v-deo.html. You can definitely hear somewhat of a Black Sabbath vibe. Queen experiment with a lot of genres but they went back to their heavier sound for their last 3 albums. Lead guitarist Brian May is a fan of metal, he and Tony Iommi have been close friends for years. A lot of metalheads do like Queen because Queen could be very metal at times. Queen is not strict about copyright, but it is a good idea to stop the video one or twice.
Sir Brian Mays is an astrophysicist. Roger Taylor drummer is a dentist and John an Electrical Engineer. Beyond their wonderful music they were so talented. Love them. Always will. .music
Not mine but I admit that Freddie was AMAZING! I've seen a few live music videos of Queen performing and they basically sounded better than their studio content. Thank you!!
Love that you're getting into Queen, and I do like you following the lyrics and their meaning. That said, you really, really, really need to see him/them play live. Best frontman of all time. Good one to start with would be "Somebody To Love" live.
Brian May built his guitar with his father. He used it all through his career, indeed is still using it. You can't go wrong picking any Queen song you choose...they are all worth a listen and the variety of genres is amazing. All four members of Queen wrote number 1 hits.
Would love to see you go through the Montreal 81 concert. Freddie’s vocals at their very best and Roger, Brian and Deaky on top form. The stand out performance is somebody to love and if your a true musician you will love the last minute where they all start riffing off each other. Save me and bohemian rhapsody from the same concert are 👌🏻. Another one bites the dust and don’t stop me now are two music vids to check out aswell. If you stick with Queen you will have another subscriber. 👊🏻 36yr old guy from London.
Hello @83greent! As long as their music is safe to react to I can GUARANTEE going on a journey to explore more of their music. I respect talent and everything I HAVE heard from this band has been very solid. This song gets better and better with each listen. I'm a bit older than you and am weak with classic rock. However, Queen is a mix of that genre and the 80s.... the movie Flash Gordon was done by Queen and I LOVE that soundtrack (as I show my nerdy side 😊😂). Hope you're doing well and staying healthy... thanks for the view & comment ✌👊
And by the way, I rotate my reactions since I cover a good amount of bands these days. The next reaction I'll be uploading soon features one of the best singers in the world covering this song as a tribute to Freddie Mercury. I'm excited to edit that one here in the next few days 😊
DannymikReacts Appreciate that. I’m now a subscriber. Would recommend the live performance of somebody to love at Montreal 1981. I’m certain you can react to that video as there are hundreds of reactions to it online. After Freddie hits the final big note just appreciate the musical talent of the band in the last minute of the performance.
Freddie has the unique ability to use both vocal folds which gives him that fast vibrato that only a few singers are able to do. One aspect of his singing and performance that makes him brilliant
Great song and almost a reminder to the band that they should continue to play even though Freddie would no longer be with them on stage. I love their quirkier songs like Bicycle Race and Fat bottomed Girls which are a great pairing!
The "tail end" last sounds you mentioned seemed like a strong emanation of an intermingling between a ticking clock and a voice/musical instrument heartbeat. :-( RIP Freddie Mercury
I saw Queen twice, 78 and 80. They still remain the loudest bombastic concert I've ever seen. Freddie was pure live kinetic energy and he oozed charisma. This song and the innuendo album has Freddie's voice thinning from his once powerful tenor, yet he hits all those notes and sustains throughout, like only Freddie could.
Freddie is a master of his craft. A true legend of music. One of the most telling stories about his last days is that he never stopped working. He'd be writing lyrics on scraps of paper and then go sing'em. He'd tell his band mates to give him everything they could come up with and Freddie would do whatever he had to in order to sing it. He was still working on songs in his final week of life.
So if you're more into classic rock, hard rock & metal my recommendations for Queen would be: I Want it All, Gimme the Prize, The Hitman, Was It All Worth It, Princes of the Universe, Tie Your Mother Down, Liar, Great King Rat (the heavier live version), Ogre Battle, Stone Cold Crazy (the live version), Innuendo, Tear It up Cheers and you & your family stay save 😁😀
What about Brighton Rock, Father to son, Sheer Heart Attack, Modern times Rock n Roll, Dead on time, Death on two legs, Ride the wild wind, headlong, Hammer to fall (head bangers mix) White Man....lol there are lots more rockin tracks! You have excellent taste by the way.
(I finished this comment now and of course it got big but if you Really want to get knowledge about Queen then read this 😅)
Freddie Mercury: Lead Singer, Plays Piano, Greatest Front man on earth. (he is not the Leader of the Band, they don't like to have a Leader and Freddie himself also said that.)
Brian May: Lead Guitarist, Background Singer (he also sings sometimes Lead) he is also an astrophysicist.
Please React to Queen,White Queen Live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975. Absolutely Spine Tingling!
the QUEEN catalogue is huge. you´ll arguably find their core/best studiowork inbetween 1975 and 1978 and their greatest live-performances in the 80ies. start with: 1) Somebody to love (live montreal 1981) 2) Queen Live at Live Aid 1985 (full 20 minutes). if you want it rougher, look for "gimme the prize", "sheer heart attack" and "tie your mother down"
My dad was and is a huge Queen fan.
I appreciate you 🙌✌
not better than most, better than ALL
And he never did give in. He was walking around with have of his foot gone and never complained ever.
God Bless you Freddie. ❤❤❤
You should try "Who wants to live forever". Such a stunning vocal on that.
Yes, I'm requesting this song as well.
The Wembly 86 version is a good one.
That song Life is Beautiful but the video is absolutely out of this world because Brian is singing in the video as well.
Most emotional and epic song of Queen in my opinion, it slowly became my favorite Queen song and song in general. I hope he does it!
Yes absolutely, my personal favourite of there’s.
@@mori1bund rip eddie
@@ianwakers yes! It was Steve Vai.
He said, he can imitate every other guitarist with the exception of Brian May. ^^
Don't forget he also uses a British sixpence coin in place of a guitar pick giving it an extra unique sound.
Oh my God, I am already old and have been a Queen lover since my youth. And never knew all those spectaculer details of Brian' unic sound and guittar. Thank you very much for sharing with us.
For me he is one of the best singers I have ever heard
This song is so profound, just beautiful and sad at the same time
Unbelievable vocal by Freddy ,and he was very sick ,this song gives goosebumps !
The guy oozed talent... thank you for your time :)
Voice straight from Heaven. Miss You, Freddie!
This was written by Dr. Brian May the guitar player. This was his goodbye to Freddie who was near death at this point from Aids.
The band decided they were going to keep making music until Freddie was dead so this is Brian saying goodbye by fulfilling that wish "the show must go on"
A lot of people think this is Freddie's goodbye song, it's not, that song is "Was it all worth it?" on The Miracle album.
But then again Freddie has been called the human auto tune!
it was not one take
They had to prop him up when he was singing “those are the days of our lives”, Which was the last song he ever did. Also check out “ I am going slightly mad”
You can also check out the last album he was on, “made in heaven”
As someone who likes Russia a lot, the Vodka thing made me smile. If I had been there, I will have shouted ДА БЛЯТЬ ТЫ ЭТО ДЕЛАЕШЬ! (Indeed you FUCKING do it!)
@@RoverWaters the high note was one take
@@dianedent5564: ''Those are the days of our lives'' was not the last song he did.
You could have not picked a better song for this time. Thank you 😀💜
Hello @Anja Teich!!
I appreciate how you're taking the song seriously and analyze it without prejudice.
About this song, Brian May said:
"It was unspoken at the time.
Freddie always said that they were four quarters of a whole, and that that was their strength. How right he was.
Thank you to your wife for her service to all of us in this time of need and hope you and your family remain safe. This song is awesome queen such a classic group. Great analysis and reactions as always bud.
Absolutely agree. Thank you both.
Movie is shit
A song that rips into your emotions and your never the same again,, hauntingly beautiful with screaming guitars and heart breaking vocals,,Queen,,!!!!
Your wife is a HERO man!
Loved Queen in the day and still love them now. Freddy lives on in our hearts and minds.
Thank you so much for the kind words... my wife is really a great person. It's been tough on her but she's holding it together. Appreciate the view and comment 😎✌
Privileged to have seen his final ever live performance at knebworth park, THE greatest frontman there was, THE greatest there will ever be.
Wow! That is something that you'll never ever forget... what an experience! Thank you for your time 🙌👏
Another song of theirs which is incredible is ‘A Kind of Magic’ such a legendary track and shows off Freddie’s incredible range 👍🏼
Please do the live version of it, live from Wembley in 1986
Oli Lewis That’s one of my favorites!
A true legend!! still had a lot to give to the world.... RIP Freddie
Very emotional music.
Great choices! I would love to see more reactions from Queen's debut album It was a great album.
MFK has some of my favorite musicality to it. The outro to that song is my all time favorite.
**Zenobia** nice to see you here, dear Zenobia !!!
Big hugs and kisses to you from Chile 🇨🇱
Ricamros - Barcelona is awesome but How Can I Go On with Montsy also is out of this world
@@MargotRecabarren Big kisses to you as well, sweet Margot!
Excellent reaction, you nailed it!
Its 35°C and Freddie is still giving me goose bumps RIP Freddie
This is a GREAT somment... I love it! Thank you for popping over to check this one out 😎✌
Brian May wrote this song, about watching Freddie writing, recording & performing as much as he could knowing that he was dying; he did his vocals in one take, sick as hell. BADASS!
If you want to listen to Queen properly, you must do Queen Live at any of their concerts. The Montreal 1981 Concert, is one of their greatest, along with Freddie's last live tour with Queen, 1986 Wembley. At Montreal try Somebody To Love, it will blow your mind!
absolutely because Queen live in Montreal or any other live show somebody to love is absolutely out of this world!!
Agree, listens to their live concert all the time during my work out and before going to bed. This is so addictive😊🤗 and Freddie's voice it's amazingly good..and very angelic..👍👍Big fan...
Live Aid
Montreal 81’ fave queen concert ever along with Wembley
Brian may is a guitar God. There will never be another Freddie 💕
I just recorded Somebody to Love (live) and these guys just melt my soul (when reacting to them)... such an amazing group. Thank you for your time ✌🙌
One of Freddie’s actual if not the last recording he ever did. So sick yet pulled it off in a single take. He was a vocal god
the songs „dragon attack“, „white man“, „tenement funster“, „loser in the end“, „death on two legs“, „prophet song“, „soul brother“ or „mustapha“ are just very few great tunes which are showing the immense diversity of their creations.
m still watching this Im 77 years old and i love the reaction to my Dear Queen 6/29/2020
Hello and much respect to you for still enjoying this group! Thanks for the view and please be safe out there :)
@@DannymikReacts you stay safe
you too
WOW ! I love Queen, however I've never dissected the lyrics like this. I have chills. Nice that you appreciate. Cheers Danny !
'May said...Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling'-vodka down-and went in and killed it,
Thank you for doing this reaction! I'm going through some pretty bad stuff right now, and this song has been helping me deal.
Sorry to hear that, Jason! Let me know if I can help with anything by listening... I am dealing with Covid right now but I can do my best if needed. Thank you for supporting the video and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
@@DannymikReacts Thank you. So sorry you got COVID. Hope you and your family recover quickly.
Stay well. ❤🙋♀️👏👏👍🇺🇲❤
R.I.P. Freddie
Your wife if def a real life hero!
Brian May wrote this for his dying friend. And for the end of Queen itself.....at least as it was originally formed for 20+ years.
His fame as a legendary singer is still going on !!!
He sang this song just a few months before he died ! I will cherish him in my mind !
Glad you're doing queen, Freddie Mercury was awesome....
Love this song! Queen is legendary for sure. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, it was really interesting to watch.
:'(
Just a slight correction, this song was recorded about a year before he died.
One of my favourite songs - I blast it in my car all the time!
I love seeing Freddie and Queen genuinely appreciated. They are and always will be the best
Danny Queen has enough material to

With alll the interviews. You will never forget this Journey in your life.♥️♥️
Queen 🙏🙏 Loved the movie about them, and really liked this reaction... Good one Dan! 👊
Queen fan for 45 yrs ,,,,,,,,ABSOLUTELY GREAT GROUP
I'm 44 years old and I only know a handful of their music... super happy to share more of my experience with you guys via UA-cam. Thank you so much ✌👏
React to Somebody To Love Live Montreal 81.
First off, thank you for your wife's amazing job. You're reactions are great. Video intro is excellent as well. Keep it up! 👍
Love and peace to you and your family, thank you do much for your honesty. From a UK huge fan
Goosebumps every time I listen to this song
Bless you
Thank you so much.... many blessings right back at you 👏✌👍
You dont have to worry about getting strikes with any QUEEN songs or interviews.,They have all been done and nobody has had any problem❤

IMO... The best male vocalist of all time! 🤘🏻
Not mine but I admit that Freddie was AMAZING! I've seen a few live music videos of Queen performing and they basically sounded better than their studio content. Thank you!!
the Queen song that made me freeze! i mean.... the energy!!! i remember being blown away!
I am so happy that you found queen, surprised you haven't heard this one, one of my favs
Love that you're getting into Queen, and I do like you following the lyrics and their meaning. That said, you really, really, really need to see him/them play live. Best frontman of all time. Good one to start with would be "Somebody To Love" live.
I love how this song builds to a crescendo. And yes this song was written by Brian May, Queen's guitarist.
The song combines utmost beauty, very elevating, very tragic and daunting all at the same time. Oh Freddie Freddie....
Yes it is... and I can't help but have that thought about how he's not with us anymore. Thanks for checking this out and for the comment ✌👏
Brian May built his guitar with his father. He used it all through his career, indeed is still using it. You can't go wrong picking any Queen song you choose...they are all worth a listen and the variety of genres is amazing. All four members of Queen wrote number 1 hits.
OMG Last night from Nair Studios it was just released. The Show Must Go On LIVE!!!!! I had to watch 3 times! It's now another favorite!!!!!
These are the Days of out lives🥺🥺😭Breaks my heart, his last video😭But still AMAZING vocals
So if you're more into classic rock, hard rock & metal my recommendations for Queen would be:
I Want it All, Gimme the Prize, The Hitman, Was It All Worth It, Princes of the Universe, Tie Your Mother Down, Liar, Great King Rat (the heavier live version), Ogre Battle, Stone Cold Crazy (the live version), Innuendo, Tear It up
Cheers and you & your family stay save 😁😀
mori1bund Good recommendations for him!
