- Show Must Go On" is a song by British rock band Queen, featured as the twelfth and final track on their 1991 album, Innuendo. It is credited to Queen, but written mainly by Brian May. The song chronicles the effort of front man Freddie Mercury continuing to perform despite approaching the end of his life, although his diagnosis with AIDS had not yet been made public in spite of ongoing media speculation claiming that he was seriously ill. When the band recorded the song in 1990, Mercury's condition had deteriorated to the point that May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it. May recalls; "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling'-vodka down-and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal"

✨️ The world was a much better place when Freddie Mercury was in it 👑
Freddie, the greatest showman, a beautiful voice, a gorgeous person, we were blessed to have had him and cheated to have lost him too soon❤
Queen was the best band EVER, and Freddie was a magical being.
I was born in 1964 here in London, England. Queen was my favourite band from around 1973 till the Legend Freddie Mercury died, without him the heart and soul of Queen died with him. I am still a Queen fan but only of the days that Freddie sang in the band and with the charismatic Entertaining showmanship that only Freddie had. I am a fan of Sabaton but Queen with Freddie Mercury was the best. British Sabaton Fan 💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🏴💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪
I'm 53 and a hard core metal head but this is literally one of my absolute favorite songs!!!
Queen is it! Thank You for watching with me my friend. Much love
This video showed Queen behind the scenes and in concert at the peak of their career in the 80's (mostly)... There wasn't much footage after Freddie was diagnosed w/ AIDS, but he did appear in music videos in 1989 - '91... The music video for "I want it all" - Freddie appeared in baggy clothes and was unshaven... it was to hide his appearance, and he couldn't move like he used to.
The video for 'The Miracle' - they used kids to emulate Freddie and the other members of Queen (he did appear briefly at the end).
His last video appearance was for the 1991 single "These are the days of our lives"... It was impossible to hide his appearance - Freddie looked thin and frail as he barely moved to the song, and his last line of the song was, "I still love you." (It was written by drummer Roger Taylor to his family, but Freddie captured the emotion perfectly).
The band, their managers and Freddie's ex Mary Austin knew he was ill, but they respected his wishes to keep it quiet... Freddie wanted to work on making new music, so they closed ranks and worked. They denied Freddie's illness to the press and even their families.
Brian May recalled that Freddie could not work for long, so it took months to finish Queens final 2 albums - 'The Miracle' (1989) and 'Innuendo' (1991)... Freddie was struggling and in pain, but he would take shots of alcohol in the studio and then sing in the recording booth as best he could. Even after 'Innuendo' was finished, Freddie recorded more vocals that he knew wouldn't be finished before he died... That became Queen's final album 'Made in heaven', released in 1995.
But by the fall of 1991, Freddie was too ill to work... he was flown back to England and spent months at his home while the British press dogged him... Just before he died in November 1991, he finally admitted that he had AIDS to the press.
Freddie’s determination is a huge part of why he’s still inspirational to so many folks.🙏🏻

My all time favorite Queen song and says a lot considering they have way to Many hits to name 💯❤️✌️🙏🤘
Brian wrote this song but really didn't plan for Freddie to ever sing it. Freddie kept coming into the studio begging for songs to sing and he said they could do whatever they wanted with them later. Brian said when he was writing this song he had a vision of a sad clown who painted a big smile on his face before going out to face his audience. Freddie was so brave and never complained no matter how sick he was or how much pain he was in. I think Brian was thinking about how he would feel if he were in Freddie's shoes when he came up with these lyrics. Love this song, thank you for your reaction. Truthfully, the extra teeth had nothing to do with his voice but Freddie thought it did so he never had them removed, he also had a deadly fear of dentists.
Freddie nr one. The King. 🤟❤️🌷
The shots of the helicopter flying over the field packed with adoring fans was Knebworth, I was there in ‘86, even after all this time I still get chills, goosebumps and tears seeing it.
Freddie Mercury wrote and recorded an album with Spanish opera singer Montserrat Caballe. The title song, Barcelona, was meant to be sung at the the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. 3 of the songs are on video. All stunning. Barcelona, How Can I Go On, Golden Boy.
When you go through life trying to gain acceptance from your father. He's was a lost soul for many years. Never knowing who to turn to for support he become very lost. His talent was his way of demonstrating who he really was. He was an amazing human being
Fred Mercury único ❤
Rest in peace king you will never be forgotten bow down legend😢
Still love you Freddie never ever forget you xxxxxx 😢
You must listen to the whole album Innuendo. Freddie was passing during the recording and still put down the brilliant vocals. My generations Liberace. 🙏🍁
I'm not from US. The way you talk is the way I like to hear an American talk. It strikes me differently, I don't know what it is. Lovely reaction for a lovely song.
Queen.The King. 😁🤟
This truly fantastic Queen song recorded while Freddie was battling his symptoms from HIV/AIDS, “The Show Must Go On” is a compellingly powerful final coda to Freddie’s legacy. The song closes Queen’s final studio album, Innuendo, released during Freddie’s lifetime.
While “The Show Must Go On” was mainly written by lead guitarist Brian May, the song’s theme is driven by the probability it would be Freddie Mercury’s “finale”. His severe symptoms made recording the album "Innuendo" extremely difficult.
Freddie’s struggles with HIV/AIDS were kept secret from the public at large until his official 1991, November 23rd, press release divulging that he was, in fact, dying from AIDS-related complications.
Previously the British paparazzi had speculated, cruelly, and reported, that Freddie was diagnosed with the disease (from the time his diagnosis was “leaked”), and proceeded to stalk him, adding insult to injury.
Intentionally or not, Freddie’s announcing his illness on November 23rd was prescient:
Approximately 24 hours after the press release, Freddie Mercury died.
The “Innuendo” recording sessions were completed by November 1990; the album was released in February 1991. After those sessions, Freddie continued to record studio vocals as much as his health would allow. He loved his work; or rather, he passionately loved making music, and had always tried to keep his personal life private.
During these last recording sessions sometimes Mercury was so ill he could barely walk, making the recording process erratic, emotionally wrought, and logistically difficult for the band, especially for guitarist Brian May, a studio perfectionist.
Brian told a feeble Freddie not to over-exert himself during a session for the final track’s vocals, intimating he wasn’t up to the challenge. According to Queen lore, a frustrated Freddie responded by slamming a shot, or two, of vodka, saying, “I’ll fucking do it, darling”. May recalled Mercury’s performance:
"He went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal"
And the show has very much gone on …
Thank you so much for all this information. I did not know a lot of this information, I want to read the book my mom has. He will forever live on in so many people's hearts I am so glad they made the movie and showed the younger generation but real music is. Thank you for watching with me much love
I am a big Queen fan in the U,K, love your comments and love your accent, voice. U.K.
Hi there ✌🏼 I have shed many a tear over Freddie 🥰 Go forward so much to react to. Love Queen. Love Freddie 🌹♥️🌹
Thank you so much for watching that with me and I plan on doing a few more at least have a good day thank you again.
My favourite band ever too.
Ilove all the songs of Queen❤
Фредди Меркьюри, как же я его люблю❤️❤️
An outstanding personality...
Always freddie ❤
😢 ❤❤❤ so talented.
Music that inspires this kind of emotion is what it’s about!
4:44, It’s impossible to hear that note, without hearing Freddie’s immortal line to Brian May when he voiced his concerns about whether Freddie would be able to do it:
‘I’ll fucking do it, Darling!’
I want this song to be played at my funeral.
Freddie's extra teeth had nothing to do with his singing voice, he was just a natural. He never had singing lessons or had a vocal coach, it was just pure natural ability. Also when you watch him sing, he opens his mouth wide a lot which creates more sound and clarity.
I must have heard wrong my apologies..
legendary song...🎸🎹🥁💪
True legend ❤
Mother love, the last song Freddie sang is very sad.
He usually watches or reacts to the official video. Which by the way was even made from clips from other music videos or archive images of the band. This is because when the song was recorded in the studio, Freddy Mercury was already very ill and physically deteriorated, so he could not make the music video for the song, much less perform the song in concert. So if you see that a video indicates that it is a live or concert performance, rest assured that it is most likely not true or that it is not Freddy who sings. The song was written by Brian May and the general idea is that he wrote it thinking about his partner Freddy...

지금도 가슴을 뛰게 한다~!
❤
BTW, Do you guys know about the auction of Freddie's personal items?
Mary Austin has apparently decided to "put her affairs in order" and is selling 1,500 of Fred's personal items through an auction at Sotheby's. The online auction will take place on September 5, Freddie's birthday. BEFORE that, tho, some of the items will be on display at Sotheby's in Los Angeles and also at their other locations. (I WISH I could go see them!)
...When Sotheby's makes the auction catalogue available for sale online, I'm hoping to buy one... It would be a GREAT keepsake!
Your correct Freddie had was HIV, Brain May the lead guitarist apparently approached Freddie and said I’ve written a new song called the Show Must Go On, do you think you’re be able to sing the song, Freddie replied Fuck yes darling Freddie downed a couple of Vodka’s and sang the song in one take, also Brian May mentioned this is one of Freddie’s best vocal performances which he said is phenomenal, and just imagine Freddie was so I’ll some days he didn’t have the strength to stand for long periods, great song great reaction thanks 🙏
Brian said in a lot of earlier interviews and on tv that he and Freddie wrote the lyrics together
Dear pretty my dad is a fan of theirs and well he was lucky to see them live in Mexico when they performed once I think greetings pretty kisses I like your songs keep it up ❤️🌹🤗
You must listen, chakra kan from indonesia sing "show must go on"..
It was great of you to show the song with this video compillation. Put a whole new load of feels on it, for sure. Bless your mum for her love, as well.
Thank you so much for saying that you just made my day because I've gotten a few not so nice comments so thank you I'm so glad that you liked it and much love yes
@@jamiembryantbreakingstereo6957No, really? There are some seriously sick people out there and I just don't understand them. Ignore the hate and dive on down the Queen rabbit hole, my dear - you'll get a host of subs and likes if you do. Oh, and if your mum wants a weepie why not try "No One But You (Only The Good Die Young") It's the band's tribute to Freddie, written by Brian May. Official video, this time!
Это Брат!
thanks, Jamie - I'm old, so I had to the privilege to see them several times with Freddie -- (P.S. Brian May wrote this song when Fred was ill..." Demo versions featured May singing, having to sing some parts in falsetto because they were too high. When May presented the final demo to Mercury, he had doubts that Mercury would be physically capable of singing the song's highly demanding vocal line, due to the extent of his illness at the time. To May's surprise, when the time came to record the vocals, Mercury consumed a measure of vodka and said "I'll fucking do it, darling!" then proceeded to perform the vocal line" )
Agree with Your Mom, also I've never seen this particular clip, thanks
It was realised 6 weeks before Freddie Mercury past away
He took a measure of vodka and did this song in one take....for that was all he had left...
SUBBED .. I LIKE YOU!! 🎉🎉
Thank You so much I was just feeling awful about a prior comment, thank you Debra Moore xoxoxo
This song was never sang live and this isn’t the official video neither
I apologize I just was watching the video that I thought was the best one of him I thought it was a great compilation
Anything Freddie is guaranteed to be good :)@@jamiembryantbreakingstereo6957
No es el vídeo original 🤷
(This is a fan made video… I like it even better)
Its too bad that he took the drug AZT which he died from and not Aids..
Most people do with HIV and very few die from HIV or AIDS, it's usually something else like in Freddies case it was bronchial pneumonia.
@@jpw6893 No you dont get it. He died from the "medicine" he got called AZT which destroyed the immune system. For all these years i actually thought he died from HIV or Aids. NOPE , he would have been alive today had he not taken AZT which Dr Fauci was behind.
This video isn't real he never sang this live.he was dying when he recorded this.
Should be removed
