  • This is a cheap, easy and reliable way to modify your 12V air compressor to have a remote switch. Avoids any complex or more expensive circuitry.
The compressor shown here is from Anaconda, but this is the same compressor as sold and re-branded by:
    - Ridge Ryder (Supercheap auto)
    - XTM (BCF)
    - Kings Thumper (4WD Supacentre)
This mod is not permanent, so it can be easily removed if required.
All you need for this mod is:
    - Male spade terminal
    - Female spade terminal
    - Lengh of wire
The car shown here is a Mitsubishi Pajero NS.

Could you not just leave the compressor switch on and have a rocker switch on the power supply side of the compressor?

Yes, but it would require another relay.

Nice one man! super simple, I'm looking at wiring in a pressure switch n adjustable pressure reg so I can set and let it pump the tires.

What Compressor are you using Maximus. Have you got an adaptor from the theaded Nitto that comes with these compressors.
I can’t find an adaptor from the compressor thread to 1/4” BSP to add in a T-piece

@@DunnyVids I found everything at my local shop, but I had one if these compressors called "camel twin cylinder" it died after like 20 uses dont think it likes having a pressure switch. got a ARB single for a great price and did everything else. auto inflate to 38 PSI trips the pressure switch using a regulator.

Hey! Thanks for posting this, I am pretty much trying to do the same thing to a rocker switch. Any chance you could post that bit as I have gotten rather stuck. I tried just switching out the original switch to a 3 pin rocker but it hasn’t worked 😔

Just a heads up if you're doing this on a maxitrax compression your gonna be using a 12v+ started to ground my switch to turn it on and basically started welding.

Hey I have a question, I followed your tutorial of a second switch and it worked BUT, my compressor has the switch with two settings ( | ) The first setting turns off when it gets to 150psi, the ( || ) second is a continual flow where the machine overrides the pressure switch... So when I run the unit now from 2nd Switch, it gets to pressure then dumps the air back to around 100, then continues ... any ideas?

Hey mate, looking at doing something similar. Few questions? 1) Why does your Anderson not have both pos and negative connections and 2) how have you wired the piggy backed switch? I think someone else was chasing that too! Epic idea though, keen to here back.
    Cheers

could have just extended the wire, using same wire to a new switch.
