    I bought one of these remote units after first watching your video about 3 years ago, dropped some more $$$'s on a cheap compressor and pulled that apart to fit anderson plug/regrease everything etc, ie never finished and now cant find the bloody box it put it away in!, short story bought a new compressor this week and am going to finally wire the remote. re watching to refresh my mind on the wiring, thank you for putting this resource out there.😀

    Great vid, very much what I have been looking for. As I don't have a fixed comp I might look at replacing the switch on the unit in some way.

      No problem at all Roy. Hope it all made sense mate. I have no idea on the current draw of a kayak motor but the little relay inside the remote box can handle 10amps. so for something like LED lights with a low draw, you can just use that on its own rather than using the second big relay. but if it's more than that which I suspect it may be at times, this is the way to go.

    Thanks for another great video. I wish I had the time to edit this video with some electrical drawings / animations to help other people.
    I have found some eBay relays have a 12v or 5v constant feed and an extra power wire for external trigger.

    I do like this idea. Do you think it would be possible to do one to sit in the Compressor cables. Im thinking keep the alligator clamps on the end so mine can be used in other vehicles and still portable but add the remote in the middle to cut power when changing between wheels or even just to let it cool down a little between each wheel as Ive found mine gets pretty hot. IM guessing it wouldnt be too hard to just build the same thing with an Anderson Plug on each end to run it inline.

    Thanks for this. I installed the remote on the actual compressor as it isn't permanently setup in my Paj. Basically it connects or disconnects the on-off switch on the compressor itself.

    Great video, going to do it in my patrol, what’s the point of the switch on the switch panel? Can you just run it to a power source?
    Also do you have links to the eBay sites / jaycar etc for the relay, remote etc

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Andrew. The switch just allows me to make sure it doesn't come on by the remote if it's bumped. I tend to just throw the remote over the back when not in use. I'm at work at the moment. Will get the links for ya.

    You should still put your feed power to pin 30, especially if using a 5 pin relay - if you connect your feed to 87 then pin 87a will also become constant live...

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  4 роки тому

      good call Rob. I was thinking of it as a 4 pin, You're right but in my case it doesn't matter much as I insulated the hell out of it and that pin out doesn't pose any more risk than the others which I soldered to. good pick up though and I appreciate you posting that up for others to see.

    Hi. I am wondering are you going to fit a tank. Pressure switch. Regulators for inflate and deflate. I thinking an old air tank of a compressor from the tip shop. Some fitting. Regs and gauges are cheap
    The I can do two tyres at a time. So for deflate. Wind reg down to off and then bring up to the low set point. The timing to do this is few sec. Then you can walk away. On inflate. Say three winds up will give you x pressure. The system then will inflate to set pressure then just a little twick. Love videos Russell

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  4 роки тому

      Hey Rusty. no plans for the tank just yet, but I have thought about it. I did watch a video of a guy who installed a tank and it only saved him like 10 seconds a tire. Im happy with the speed of my compressor as is. I find the thing that takes the most time is set up and pack up. So with that sorted now, I'll save heaps of time. I am thinking about making up one of those 4 way hoses to inflate or deflate all at the same time. I'll have to come up with a plan for that one and get the right hose for the job.

Travel to that new spot. Meet mind like people. Everyone has there own truck. What they put in. I love seeing. Maybe one day we will meet. Keep up the video's Russell

    Do you think it's possible to install the wireless system in the compressor casing? Ie Mean Mother style?

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  2 роки тому

      a few other have asked that and to be honest I'm not real sure. I don't know how much room is in that center section. You could certainly pull the remote board out to make it smaller but beyond that, it's anyones guess.

    • @DENMONKEY

      yes mate, ultimately, you need just to complete the circuit to switch the relay on.

  • @garya6647

    So why couldn’t I just replace the switch in the compressor with the remote control switch? Then wouldn’t need to do the big amp relay?

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  4 роки тому +1

      The little relays that are in the remote receiver can only handle 10amps max, the switch in the compressor would be rated at its max draw. So it wouldn't be a straight swap. It could be done by would still require the additional relay for the high current usage

      @@DENMONKEY Negative. The switch in the compressor is low current. You've just duplicated the big relay that's already in the compressor. All you had to do was hook up the remote relay to the compressor switch.

    • @djc2472
      @djc2472 2 роки тому

      @@super56r yep, did mine recently, the existing compressor switch activates a relay on the elec board of the compressor, just pop the switch and extend the wires and use the remote to interupt the switch circuit. 10 minutes and 2 connections :)
