I was over-weight, pre-diabetic, and had all inds of "syndromes". I was advised to go on a plant based diet. That was 5 years ago and I will never look back. Best thing I could have done for my health.
Awesome 👏 I just began one a few months ago and I too have never felt better in my life.
Good work. Plant based diets are wonderful and it’s only in recent history that humans have consumed lots of meat and processed foods. Excessive meat consumption is killing the planet and people.
@@whitneyanders5945 Meat-eating is "recent history"? LOL! That's true about processed foods (as well as their extremely detrimental effects), but not at all about meat/fish! Our ancient ancestors started out as hunter-gatherers and were so for an extremely long time, mostly hunting/fishing and gathering only the few edible and nonpoisonous plants that grew naturally (which were different in their types and numbers over the millenia). It wasn't until people stopped wandering/being nomadic as much and what we now call farming emerged did plant eating increase...but hunting/fishing was still always practiced, as that food provided (and still provides) much more in nutrients, good fats, and necessary amounts of protein (there were no vitamins/supplements and protein shakes/bars for that until recently history), and it could be obtained year-round and also preserved to be eaten if hunting/fishing was slower because of seasons/weather or other factors.
All that said, everyone is different in their health and needs...a solely plant-based diet may work and can be "wonderful" for you and others but it can be insufficient/ineffective for others.
As for your last statement...there are many people who eat a heavily or even solely carnivore diet (which is much more than just beef/red meat), even for many decades, and they're doing just fine and are extremely healthy (as was true for our ancient ancestors, obviously, since humans evolved and are still around). And it's not killing the planet, either (though some of our deplorable practices in raising the animals do have negative effects...as does our poisoning the soil/earth/plant seeds with pesticides and GMO practices).
Please do some very serious research about such things (not limiting yourself to only people/results that say and support what you already think/believe)...especially before making (and believing) such generalized, "absolute" proclamations.

ENERGY WORK to reenergize our electromagnetic body and release buried emotions, trauma in our internal organs, around and through our body, biofield. POTENT. Bonus: it lengthens our telomeres (VERY ANTI-AGING!!!).
Don't eat processed foods. Exercise. Meditate. MODERATION. There is TOO MUCH ADVICE on exactly what's healthy. I say KEEP IT SIMPLE. My mom is 94 years old. And very healthy. She eats sugar and bread. Exercises. She doesn't fuss about it. But she doesn't eat a lot and eats mostly non processed foods. And has a moderate amount of wine. Find what works for you!
no sugar. It's always a highly processed, un-natural food. It's in direct contradiction with your statement not to eat processed foods. Sugar is at the root of all diseases.
Don't drink
I do agree! All the best to your Mom.
Love this man. You can just tell that Mark is a kind, genuine and caring human being. God bless, and as usual, God bless sweet Katie for having him on for us!
I think he seems very arrogant. Might be better for me just to read his book, and see what makes sense for me, because I can only watch him for a few minutes.
Hi Katie, to your question about having joint aches, what works for me is Fish Oil!!! Something as simple as that!!! I know that when I stop taking it, I can't get up in the mornings due to joint pain (knees, ankles, etc) Omega 3 oil. 1200 a day
Mark Hyman is good; in fact, very good.
Intermittent fasting (beginning eating between 10 and 11 AM and ending eating between 3 and 4 PM) has made my belly fat essentially disappear.
How long did it take for your results ? Weeks? Months?
@@nancygray1946 Months, I think. I was not really focused on this because I had a reasonably flat tummy before beginning intermittent fasting. It is the "skin pinch" amount that is much decreased.
You both look great I am a firm believer in COQ 10. Micronutrients sleep and strong emotional and spiritual support. Thanks for all you do
Thanks for a great interview. I learned a lot.
Exceptional talk - thank you both!! 💛
This was an excellent interview - questions were spot-on. Thank you, Katie.
Hi Katie!! I am so glad to see that you are on UA-cam. I really enjoyed your interesting conversation with Mr. Hyman. I look forward to more health topics from you, including keto, carnivore, and low carb. Just keep doing it... it helps. It's nice to hear candid conversation rather than doctor to doctor, or expert to doctor. Thanks so much and just keep doing this!!!!!
And thank you Katie for all that you do everyday. Love your programs and your daily emails! I used to always run into you on the Upper east side at the Butcher in the evenings after work and you are as wonderful and beautiful as ever!
Everyone should listen to this video at least 2-4 times a year! It is so true and so inspiring 💕
LIFTING WEIGHTS IS THE BEST you feel good , feel powerful and confident and asan added bonus you look great
Great video Katie! Love this guy!
Just checked, our local library has his book in eBook & audiobook versions.
Buying the book today.
❤️thank you ❤️love ❤️
Hi, Katie: I'm focused on age-appearance; therefore, I'm reasonably accurate at guessing one's age, regardless of their lifestyle. (Consistent sun protection is key!) Dr. Mark Hyman says he's 63. He looks 58. My humble advice to your viewers: Keep things simple. Protect your skin from the sun. Don't smoke. Eat veggies. Exercise regularly. Accept that you cannot change the world, yet make your corner of the world a better place:)
I think he looks exactly his age. Nothing wrong with that. He looks 63 to me. I am going by people I know who are in his age group.
He's not really talking about appearance.
@@damullins he's not talking about appearance
Love all the information! Mark is so informative of the human race and letting us know what we need to do correctly kudos to him.
I bought Marks last book, which made eating very complicated.
Watch Dr. Jason Fung, a kidney specialist. He talks about keto and intermittent fasting. He provides studies that prove hours points and shows where our current thoughts (many which Mark expounds), are fallacious.
Telling people to only eat sugar in moderation is pandering to the people who wouldn’t choose to totally give up sugar. Mark is selling books, sorry, no disrespect meant, just my opinion
Thank you for great information! Great audio too, Mark!
Poor audio, difficult to hear your incredible questions Katie.😢
Gaaaah! Love KC but the audio is a hot mess going in and out. This is not the only one it has occurred on. On the upside, huzzah having Mark on. He’s great!
5:10… Just turned 60 and I was diagnosed with breast cancer… had all the big surgeries and now on Anastrozole. Can you recommend a dr I can see or could you help me?
Supplements, diet etc.
Current BMI 20 but after suddenly stopping all hormones.. I’m not feeling great.
This is an amazing visit! Appreciate you both!
Really interesting information. Thank you! Also want to mention that the audio was pretty bad. Lots of crossover conversation cutting each other out. Not sure if that could be corrected in future broadcasts.
Her mic has been horrible for over a year. Used to think it was her connection back home, but, obviously, she took the mic with her.
Anyways, I think she only reads her IG comments. Maybe the mic works.better on there?
Hi Mark. This was a great interview, but just wondering where you are in the world?
Life is like a football game. It consists of 4 quarters. 1st quarter: youth: birth to 22.5. 2nd quarter: prime adulthood: 22.5-45. 3rd quarter: middle age: 45-67.5. 4th quarter: senior years: 67.5-90. Sudden death overtime: 90-100. Anyone who hits 90 has a 1 in 2 chance of dying before their next birthday.
😄 I was acquainted with 2 people who both lived to 103. They were man and wife.
I like this man. Interesting theories. He said he is a bit over 60 and that he (physiologically) is 20 years younger than his age…..well, he certainly does not look 40…aging did happen to him…healthy eating and habits are key..but the rest is yet to be proven
Anti-ageism. Great information 4 those wishing to liver longer. Love to tour old cemeteries in the old south (Savannah, St. Augustine), the rich section there a beautifully carved crying angels. Poor section stones are etched with phrases like finally given his/her just reward. Rich want to live 4 ever/ Poor ppl are ready to go whenever their maker calls them home.
Thank you
How old do we want to live? My grandmother lived to be 104 and was a mental and physical wreck. I sure don't want to live that long, in fact it's my greatest fear.
Right. I think that's why in the beginning he talks about longer health rather than longer life.
But how did she eat and exercise?
@@maryshank7825 Who?
You need to rewatch the interview, it seems you missed the entire point.
I want to live to be 120. If you have something to live for, you love life!
Katie when you lean close to your screen your communication goes in and out
Intermittent fasting, cutting out sugar and dairy, and a low carb diet will solve all of your problems
Let your mind and body know you need them. Eat fresh food like a hunter and gatherer hiking and climbing while you still can, and you will continue to.
My Doctor recommended plant base diet last visit!
Just got it!! He is my FAVORITE!!!
I started taking probiotics with cranberrry formula to help gutt health an pee pee health. I need to take more protien and vit d.
I take issue with the rich and famous telling others how to live their lives. As if people cannot possibly be living life correctly without them. And of course, you MUST buy their books, DVDS, take their courses and seminars, which of course makes them
richer. The addiction to self-help also fills their bank accounts. Along with prayers and my Bible, I manage my life just fine by doing something absolutely scandalous: believing in, and thinking for myself.
@donnabardsen5372 I am a non-theist Quaker. Lovely that you get so much from your prayers and Bible, keep it up! Me thinks the lady doth protest too much... Hamlet quote. My religion teaches simplicity, I live on very little cash, so I don't even hear it when XCLLNT teachers offer DVDs books. Glad they impart what they have learned. You DON'T have to fall hook line and sinker from any "rich and famous" authors and buy anything!!! May want to review for yourself how much your pastor is asking/ guilt tripping you into putting in the collection plate each week. My G_d is never short of cash.
Absolutely 💯 true Donna 👍🏽 👏🏼 ❤

Seems like you get stressed easily by outside influences.
He's done a lot of research, so he might know a thing or two. Also some people might be grateful for the information. And heaven forbid that someone earn a buck...
Never eat cereal. Occasionally have oatmeal or a bagel (my Jewish friends) usually an egg is my go to. Some ppl have feta cheese and tortillas. I like peanut butter on it.
How about massage?
Whole food plant based diet is the best
Your audio is horrible
What if you're a slender female vegetarian who has always been naturally thin - but in spite of normal thyroid tests - cannot gain weight?
Eat some meat, sister.
In the book, The End of Alzheimers the author recommended to stay on the keto diet. He cautioned to ensure you ate adequately to maintain weight.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Repeat the name of the longevity gene! She talked over
Socializing studies confuse correlation with causation. My severe IBS prevents me from socializing more, and I’m sure it’s not good for my lifespan. So its the opposite causation from what the studies purport to show. If you have chronic conditions you can’t socialize as much, but then you will obviously have a shorter life span. The medical profession prefers to blame patients rather than that they have no cure
You don't need a lot of friends to be happy. It should not affect your health either. If you don't like being alone, you're probably in bad company.
Katie Couric strikes me as a very serious person at her core. She’s not a “He-He” or “Haw-Haw” type of individual. She’s not jocular or “Hail fellow, well met.” Being “bubbly” and “perky” is just an image, and only her “persona.” Actually, Katie strikes me as a super serious person. I like that a lot. Life has many serious components that one needs to take seriously. The question of aging, lifespan, and longevity, is a very serious topic that needs to be addressed with solemnity and gravitas. Dr. Hyman seems too “jokey” here.
✌🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
Red Wine is NOT a poison!! What Mark?!
Her audio is so bad
He sounds like he's talking into a barrel
According to the European Fecal Standards & Measurements Board, one Katie Couric is approximately 2.7591 imperial pounds of human excrement!
Please ask him to tell us how to reverse cancer, stroke, dementia, alzheimer's, parkinson, stiff person syndrome, ALS...
Don't eat animal products!!!!!!!!!!!!
Too many advertisement… love Mark Hyman.
eat meals in moderation!!!!!!! SMALL BREAKFAST, MEDIUM LUNCH, NICE SMAILL HEALTHY IDNNER
Katie I appreciate this topic and Dr Hyman, but having all these commercials was overkill and totally unnecessary. I feel like you took advantage of this situation.
The commercials I have nothing to do with Katie. If you don’t want to see commercials in UA-cam videos, you have to pay for a Premium account. I have one and I didn’t see a single commercial during this interview.
I'll save you 54 m of B.S. story tales.
Drink wine and live for ever
I have no porpoise in like.
I'm sure he has valuable info but I am getting totally bogged down and am going to turn it off.
Don't get your booster shot
😢 My brother got his booster, then he got blood clots in his lungs. Thankfully, he got better, but I don't want to risk it!
In the USA always talking about healthy everything when they are fattest/unhealthy humans in the world 😂😂😂
Madisine not avilable on market only you shouting fake
