Ellen your videos give me so much joy, I'm going to make some of your recipes this year to give to my family for Christmas gifts. Thank you for making these videos
Love these bath salts! But now I understand that plain old sea salt has micro plastics in it. For that reason I’ll just use the other salts. They are so pretty though.
Thanks Ellen. I love using the tubes. I also add beautiful lemon peel and orange peel to my citrus salts. The ones I use (Spice Village) are quite small and don't need to be strained out. They add a little more scent too
Thank you for creating a Salt Bath Tutorial for new beginners. I enjoyed it so much and was able to take notes and keep up with the timing of your video. Happy Holidays, Thank you for sharing ERS! I subscribed and clicked the Notification Button, Best Success!
Fab video again Ellen,I love bath salts and make them for family and friends for Christmas and Birthdays.I love the Roses and your packages are lovely,I use a lot of botanical expecially Lavender and Cornflowers.Thank you for sharing xx
I'm in the anti 'floaty bit' group...it's not just the clean up, it's having them potentially sticking to me in places I don't want them. But I love me some nice bath salts and I different salts, scents and light colorants. And I package them in in the heat sealed window pouches. For family...I do fancy glass jars with scoops that can be refilled. I use a regular iron to seal my bags and I label them BEFORE I fill them as it is easier.
I’m glad you mentioned drying it before packaging! I had used a recipe on bramble berry that didn’t mention the need to dry it before packaging. It was my first time making bath salts so i just didn’t think about it. And they got rock hard in the jars! Not a good look when trying to build credibility as a new brand
Hi I tried your bath salt with the black or deep purple himalayan salt added to it. I've found it didn't smell very nice while running the tub. It smelt like rotting eggs. I didn't know it was that at 1st as I put in several different things but now I know its definitely that as I've looked it up. Black himalayan salt has a high sulfur content which gives of a pungent egg smell. Just thought you would like to know.
Thank u for informing us.because I ran my bath & it had a pungent egg smell i now know WHT it is Thx to u. I also added blk Himalayan salt. SUCKS BECAUSE THEY LOOK NICE BUT STINK!
I love your packaging. I was wondering if the fragrance gets light when the salts are drying for 3 days. I guess not because you explained how good it smelled. ❤ Thank you
Hi Ellen! Thank you for making this video. I'm going to try this one too! Question. You mentioned adding a little rubbing alcohol to color plain rock salt with Micha powder. What percentage is needed? 70%, 91% or 99%....or does that matter for bath salts? :) Thank you again!
Great video, Ellen! Have you tried coloring your bath salts? I have used both color mica powder made for soap and food-grade dye (IE: for cakes, etc.), and I've found that after about 3 months on the shelf, they will start to fade and/or discolor. It's just a natural chemical reaction from the salts. Just curious if you've experienced that before or have any suggestions on how to prolong the shelf life / color.
I love bath salts! Unfortunately they don’t sell well for me , but that is ok. They make good gift for families and teachers. Tip for you Ellen. I premix the dendritic salt ahead of time so that way everything is dry when I am ready to make the bath salts. Love those roses! Do you have the link? Mine are not as pretty and mostly only petals. Thank you for sharing
Hi there... Great to know! Brilliant tip.. so that I understand, you mix the essential oils in with the dendritic salt and then let dry? Am I correct... x
Hi Ellen, I am very new to all this and just loving your videos. You have assembled some really classy and beautiful items to share with everyone. God bless you for that. I was just wondering about this bath salt mixture. Would add in some baking soda and one of those other items you use in your bath bombs create the fizzy thing in the bathtub if you add it to this bath salt mixture?
Hi Ellen love love ❤️ your videos thank you for sharing with us , love how you explain everything so nicely🙏. I made this yesterday and today is alot more wet than yesterday, is this normal or whatl did I do wrong and how can I fix it😢 ?
Thanks for sharing your recipe and this video. May I ask, what's the reason for adding the Poly 80 please? Definitely making some bath salts for myself soon.
Thank you for sharing this video! Do you think adding milk powder to this recipe would be okay? If so would you be able to estimate how much I would add? Thank you!
Yes, I've added milk powders to the salts and it's wonderful. As far as how much, that depends... I suggest trying a small test batch and seeing what amount you like best.
Thank you Ellen I might do a bath for the Christmas Bazaar. However I don't have any certificate or lic to do these & sell them. I wonder if I need some sort of certification🤔
Thank you for another informative video I love it.. I recently bought some labels from online labels, my fist time using them. I am trying to figure out how to print just a few of the labels on the sheet instead of the entire sheet if I'm just making say 5 labels. How would I also go back and use up the other blank labels on that sheet? Hope you can share some guidance. Thanks in advance...I ordered that same size you're using based on your videos😊
@@EllenRuthSoap Thank you for clarifying! I wanted to try a small batch for myself with some leftover salts to see how I like it and thought I had completely missed something. After watching twice, I thought it would be best to ask 😊
Hi Ellen. I love the idea of adding bath salts to my business, although when making them they smell bad when I add water. Do you have any idea of why that might happen? Thank you.
Have you ever used essential oils in bath salts? I bought two different kind of essential oils but I've read that they need to be used with a carrier oil. I've not had much luck on figuring out the ratio, or how much I can use in bath salts or batch bombs.
@@EllenRuthSoap thank you so much Ms Ellen! Do you know where I can find the ratio of EO to salts? This video was sooo incredibly helpful and I've save your recipe to use for my first time making bath salts. I see the link for the heat seal bags, but which size are the ones you're using? That's about the size I'd like to get so I can make these for mothers days gifts
I use the dendritic salt as well but find that I loose a lot of my scent while the mixture sets out in the open air to dry. Have you had this issue and do you have any suggestions? I tried the oven dry method but it made the salts smell really bad, like super bad. I had to throw them away!! Thinking maybe it was the f.o.??? I'm happy that i am not the only one who buys stuff because the package is beautiful 😂
You are definately not. I built my whole business on the idea of pretty things.
😂😂you're not
A lot of the times i will buy something BECAUSE of the packaging be it beautiful or unique- into the basket it goes!!
Yes they are lovely
Same! :)
I love that Mennonite store Ellen! One of my favorite places to shop! Will be glad when they turn the ice cream machines back on😂😂😂
I love the tea bag concept!! I hate little floaty things touching me in my bath (it's a sensory thing). I'm definitely going to do the tea bags.

I haven't tried to color my salts, but that's good info to know❣️
Very good
Nice one. What would be good ratio to mix PS 80 with coconut oil and lavender essential oil, to make 300 gms bath salt? Thank you
I would keep the essential oil to oil ratio at about 1:1 ratio
Another great video Ellen!
The grey sea salt would work too.
Really informative. Thank you!
Acabo de hacer estas sales para unos regalos y estan riquisimas. Thanks Ellen I love them.
Where did you buy the plastic tube also the Cotton cloth bags to put the salt
All the links are in the description👍
I can’t believe I’m this early! Thank you!
👍💕
Can you talk about the polysorbate? Why is this added? Thanks!
Poly 80 acts as an emulsifyer in the bath water, so there isn't any residue left around the tub or a slippery bottom...
Hi! Thank you for sharing this fun recipe!
My pleasure 😊💖
I have made bath salts and after awhile, they go 'off', especially the Lavender. What causes that? Looking forward to trying this recipe.
I'm not sure, but the salt can "throw" the scent off...
Wow, beautiful. Love it! Thank you.
So cool! God bless
Thanks💖
What about if I want to add slsa? And powder milk? How much of each? Thanks! I made yours, but I wanted it more bubbly.
Yes, those would make great additives. I suggest an ounce or 2 of each.
Do you think it would just be easier to put only the flowers in the bag? Me personally I like the texture of the salts in the water
Good suggestion 🤍
I love bath salts! Unfortunately they don’t sell well for me , but that is ok. They make good gift for families and teachers. Tip for you Ellen. Yes you can!👍
Great, thank you Ellen!💕
I have tried to make this for myself have a quick question. Have you found that the black salt smell takes away from the other oils during the bath.
No, I don't really notice the scent after it's made or in the bath 👍

Ellen is it ok to put in a dehydrate to dry? I just thought as I have one it would be easier
Yes👍

@@EllenRuthSoap A dehumidifier at about 35% for a 48-72 hours
Thanks for sharing your recipe and this video. May I ask, what's the reason for adding the Poly 80 please? Definitely making some bath salts for myself soon.
It helps reduce any tub residue when rinsing. But you can omit it if desired.

You don't need a license to sell bath products here in the US, but I highly suggest having good insurance.
Can we use this as a himalayan diffuser for room?
I would increase the himalayan salt for that👍
Thank you for your answer🧡

The Maestro label designer has a page set up where you can select how many you want to print.
Thank you for your response 🙏 I will try that.
Can o use fractionated coconut oil instead of poly?
The poly is an emulsifier, but you can leave it out if desired.
What is the poly80 for? I know it helps colorant to disperse in bath bombs, but there’s no mica in this recipe.
You could leave it out if needed, but it helps disperse the fragrance and have the tub rinse clean.
Thank you.
Some salts can have a metalic or earthy scent, I suggest using a strong fragrance or essential oil blend.
Have you ever used essential oils in bath salts? I bought two different kind of essential oils but I've read that they need to be used with a carrier oil. I've not had much luck on figuring out the ratio, or how much I can use in bath salts or batch bombs.
You don't need a carrier oil for the salts, because it becomes diluted in the bath water.

Beautiful as usual! Great Video! Why do you use Emulsifier polysorbate 80?
It helps reduse any residue in the tub. You can omit it if desired.
✅ thank you for that pro tip!
If I need to add essential oil . When do I add it ?
I add the liquid portion after all the dry ingredients have been mixed.

@@EllenRuthSoap I'm thinking it was the f.o. so maybe I'll give it another try!!
Thank you ☺️
is it the same process for essential oils?
Yes👍
Is there any forbidden micas’s in bath salts?
I don't add mica's because I think the salt is naturally pretty, but you can color them if desired.
Will polysorbate 20 do the same as the 80? Guess I need to research it!
There is a difference, you could use the poly 20 but it's not going to emulsify as much as the 80.
@@EllenRuthSoap ok! Thank you!
Is it possible to put it in a silicone mold to dry for cute shapes?
I don't think this would hold a shape? But I haven't tried it, so I'm not sure..
May I ask what program do you use to design your labels?
I use both Avery and Maestro
Thank you. I’m new to this world and currently working in Maestro now
What if your fragrance has 1% vanilla. Do you have to put the stabilizer in it? If so what’s the ratio? ❤
Personally, I wouldn't even worry about it 😉 I think it's fine 👍
Hi Ellen thank you so much for this video very helpful but can you please show me how to use the scale correctly? Especially when measuring .5 or .1 gram or measuring anything really please help because I always mess up the measurements
I suggest looking up your scale on google for tutorials on how to use it. Some are easier to work than others...
May i know that if we do as a business how we keep long time without any moisture?
I suggest a dehumidifier and keep them in a cool dry place.
