Hi Nick! When I was 11 years old, I came across your "How to make a Paracord Bullwhip" video. Being a huge Indiana Jones fan at the time, I asked my parents for all the materials as my birthday gift. When I finished it, it was truly my proudest achievement (even though it was filled with kinks and creases lol). I showed all my friends and quickly became the cool kid on the street. I am now 18 years old 🤯. I was cleaning out my room, and I found the box where I kept all my whip making materials (artificial sinew, hockey tape, etc.). When I find the time, I am going to make the Indiana Jones whip from the video you made two weeks ago (with no creases this time!!). Thanks so much for introducing me to this fun hobby! Your videos really meant a lot to me back in the day.
You have been busy. Thank you for the videos this year and thank you for wearing safety gear when lathing. And it looks fracking cold 🥶. Stay warm my friend. Or visit Florida. 😉
I realize you said 400 grit sandpaper. This works well for you since you don’t want the handle too dark from the stain, but for anyone going darker, I’d refrain from going any higher than 220 grit. There’s a video on UA-cam somewhere of a guy demonstrating that anything past 220 grit will actually clog the wood fibers with the new saw dust and prevents the stain from penetrating fully or getting as dark as you may want it. In your case it’s great though!
I was wondering what size Paracord do you use to make your whips? I hear sinker cord and whip makes cord. What size is the whipmakers cord. Fixing to order some and want to get what I need for 6 foot whip.
Nick, I made a stock whip using your video and noticed on the thong keeper you used a 5 plait but on the handle keeper you used 7 plait. Why aren't they the same number of plaits? I'm sure there's a good reason. Thanks.
Hi Bobby, that's a great question. The reason that I use more strands on the keeper for the handle part is so that it sufficiently covers the handle. I could use the same number of strands, but I would have to make the handle part a lot thinner. I don't make it any thinner because I don't feel like it would be strong enough.
I have a problem with some of my stock whips where the thong ends up more of a square shape rather than round, I’m thinking maybe too many strands and not enough core because my thongs start round and finish round and only have the more square shape in the middle, does any body have any other ideas or some tips that might help? Thank you
Just wanna get the obvious questions out of the way. You’re rolling your whips in between each layer right? And also taking the core strands out of each strand of paracord?

Nick, you are the Bob Ross of whip making. Keep up the great work.
I actually just fired up my lathe for the first time and played around with the… slant-ey chisel-ey tool as well. Great video, Nick!
Thanks for all the tutorials, Nick!
Great video, thanks! Stay warm...RealFeel is -28° here this morning.🙂
Nice. I like how you keep evolving your techniques!
I do everything the same except I do a square start plat instead of wrapping over the cords at the keeper
👍👍 Beautiful set of whips👍👍

Thanks! A very useful lesson!

Would you consider doing a 275 tutorial?
Hey Nick just wondering what the colours are on his whip? Chocolate brow it looks like and tan maybe? Thanks

Getting dowel centred is the bane of my existence. It’s always slightly off.
Skew.
