The fact that Wo-Chien is the fastest non-DLC legendary in the entire series makes me happy: It's so much worse than the other three treasures of ruin in basically every other way, so at least it gets this one W.
FYI Abilities in Ruby/Sapphire only have in-battle effects or only have out-of-battle effects, Arena Trap only gets the out of battle effect in Emerald. The only ability that increases encounter rate in Ruby/Sapphire is Illuminate, and the only other abilities that have OOB effects are Stench and Pickup. All other field effects start in Emerald.
Devs working on Gen 3: Let’s make them work for these side legendaries Devs working on Gen 4: Do you think making them use a Flute at a certain place is too difficult?
I understand, buf for something that’s just use x at x location? They didn’t think to mention where you use it in the mystery gift description like they did with the one for the new Mystical, but then again, that was almost 16 years later, and I’m not sure if they distributed it for BDSP.
Your comments about Ditto make me think that the next video will be "How fast can you catch a Ditto in EVERY Pokemon Game?" Already looking foward to it. I love ypur videos please keep it up
I absolutely love the dedication you put into Gen 3. No stone unturned - absolute proof that one or other legendary is the actual fastest. I see you and your effort!
Some people may find all the math needed to do the routes in case one is faster or not. But i find it fascinating how much a rng game can be manipulated to make things more consistent. Especially with how the odds work
Once you did a full depth analysis into Relicanth for the Regis instead of just breezing through to catch Groudon I realized this was going to be a different kind of video, went from background noise to my full attention. Great stuff, hoping for more
Should've done the spinoff games as well. Add some variance. Pokemon Rumble Blast hands you a Victini within the first ten minutes, Gates To Infinity takes a few hours, and the Explorers games make you wait for postgame.
Damn, I now understand why you were going insane over this. But you are right, sub-2 hours to get a Regi is a crazy feat I never would have thought about! Other than that, absolutely stellar video and happy 1 year anniversary! Didn't realize that so much time had already passed. I'm happy I was here to witness the channel grow as much as it did, cheers!
🤣 I knew you would understand even more when you saw Gordon 🤣 I totally agree, the sub 2 hours for the Regis was so nice to see after finishing everything! I actually didn’t realize it would be that way at all when routing so it was a great surprise! Thanks again for all the support with this one and along the way Gordon! 😊😊😊
Totally thought this video was going to be how fast can you catch an unown in every pokemon game. Not that I'm disappointed by Legendaries, I'm quite looking forward to watching it
Fun fact, my first playthrough I actually realized that the stakes were tied to the Seals before the game told me, so I decided I wanted to go get whatever legendary was in the first Seal as soon as I could, just to see what would happen. Lo and behold, I encounter Wo Chien. Then I spend the next couple hours attempting to catch it. I ended up getting a Sap Sipper Deerling to stall out it's moves. After countless hours, I caught myself a Wo Chien with only the 1st gym under my belt. I didn't use it, because I dislike using legendaries in playthroughs, it was just a fun thing I distinctly remember
I've always thought about how it must feel being a legendary pokémon, being sought after by people all over the Pokémon world, avoiding being caught for hundreds of years, living your best legendary life, only to then be found and caught by a 12-year old
Real quickly, regarding Ho-Oh and Lugia in Gold/Silver: When you mentioned the defense stat, it doesn't matter if you use a water move. Water moves were all Special, meaning Defense makes no difference unless you are using Rock moves for super effective damage. You'll do 4x on Ho-Oh versus Lugia with only 2x with Rock Moves when looking at the Defense Stat. But in the sense of the speedrun, Ho-Oh still wins because you use Feraligator's water type against Ho-Oh, not because of the lower Defense stat.
@@eltonmateusnevesneves I forgot that Illuminate’s actual in-game effect was raising the encounter rate and not an added-effect like Intimidate or Flame Body.
Ehhh 1. I believe the Ability related non-direct encounter rate buffs only exist from Pokemon Emerald onwards, meaning it doesn't work in Pokemon Ruby. The workaround would be Sweet Scent, which Oddish can learn at Level 7. Oddish itself is available at Level 13 on Route 110, a compulsory route. Sweet Scent forces an encounter, which should greatly speed up the spawn as compared to spinning in place. You will also save the travel time to catch Trapinch, assuming you get lucky on Route 110. 2. Catching an Abra at Dewford Cave will help you skip the backtracking from Lavaridge back to Petalburg, should you not enter any Pokemon Centre in between (Rustboro, Dewford, Slateport, Mauville, Fallarbor, Lavaridge)
this challenge was wild, especially reliving the headache that is gen 3 regi hunting lol and the early wo-chien hunt is tough but satisfying to finish, i actually managed to do it without miraidon. using only the targeting warp trick to get myself up ledges i wasn't "supposed" to get to. i saved the one on top of the waterfall for last. it took me the longest of all of them, hoping to get just one spawn to align correctly for me to reach it. definitely do not recommend doing it that way lol
Semaj is back with an absolutely legendary video! The time spent on just the gameplay, let alone editing and research is unbelievable for this one. You simply do too much for us lowly viewers 😭 I really liked seeing all the variables that increased different percentages in some of those! All that work for the Regis just to be let down by their time too... 😂 Awesome work as always dude! Love the video, love you, and love the idea of a Ditto vid in the future!! My one and only criticism is that the recap time comparisons at the end didn't have which legendary Pokemon was caught as a reminder. Guess I'll just have to rewatch the whole video to remember which ones won 😏
Idk if it would be interesting, but I think a "How long to catch a Pikachu clone in every region" could make a good video if you ever need ideas. I love this series and can't wait for the next installment :)
Great vid! Just wanted to share that I actually got Wo Chien before even meeting the ride Pokémon for the first time awhile back. This was before the encounter warps were nerfed to not allow you to throw through walls, but it in NO way was it fast. It took a lot of waiting for flying types to move to just the right spot to get up the waterfall and highest mountain 😅
Maybe you could put a recap at the end with every legendary that won during the video, I was expecting the podium with Zapdos and Palkia (Maybe some people will skip to the end but those are not true fans) Anyway keep going! This is great!
I've watched every one of your Pokemon challenge videos and I love all of them. I'm glad to hear you like making them too. I'll be looking forward to seeing what your next challenge will be.
This left me with the question, how fast can you get the box art pokemon in each game? It's probably too close to this video to be worth doing separately, at least any time soon. Unrelated question, is Yellow just slower than Red/Blue? I think it's the only one you didn't at least mention.
I think there may been a concept of making Lets Go's time even less. U don't need 3 badges for the birds, only 2. U'd still have access to great balls (I know this from experience with POC's which also have to get the birds before the third badge). So that could save a bit of time for getting Zapdos, probably not much time. But ya
I love how speed runners always pay attention to how long things takes time and compare every attempt to have a perfect run. I love the dedication of those people.
And here I was wondering if you were going to do the Mew trick for Gen 1. Makes sense you didn't since its 1) a glitch and 2) a mythical vs a Legendary mon.
Oh wow, speaking of s/v, i actually got like 95% of my dex before ever having gone to the school, through battling a pokemon and getting up some cliffs. This actually includes both the southern treasure pokemon. Mad i didnt record or anything for this. Would have been a good series lol

One tiny nitpick (that doesn't actually mean anything) about Cobalion in Black 2/White 2 is that it can be accessed without Cut by just going through the grass on its right, and then going down to it from above, but this of course is marginally slower than just Cutting through the tree in the way, and would also involve going through grass (needing a Repel) and dodging the Ranger in that grass. Again, overall inconsequential, but wanted to mention Cobalion doesn't _require_ Cut.
Does anyone know what song is playing at the start of the S/V section? The provided playlist is out of order, so I can't track it chronologically. Also, I'm like 70% sure it's a Yu-No song, and while there's none in the playlist, there's also one song missing from the list.
how did the latest game change it up? They're still the same as always... It's a very simple distinction. If it originally was not able to be caught in a base playthrough of a game, meaning you need a special event or some outside source to obtain it, then it's a mythical. if you can catch it in a base playthrough of a game, without the sue of an external event or source, then it's a legendary.
@@LuckyOwI777 I was mostly thinking of the legendaries you can find after finishing the Blueberry quests. I thought some of those were originally mythical? But since I've been confused about which were event Pokemon in previous games, I could have also misunderstood them, too. I never really understood the difference before 😂
@@crickett3536 I think the only one is Meloetta. And a Pokemon doesn't become mythical or legendary randomly. That's what I said. It's origin required an event or outside source to obtain. Same with Deoxys and the Delta Episode in ORAS. yes you can capture Deoxys in those games without the need for any outside event or anything. But since it originally needed an event to be caught, it's a mythical. Although with Meloetta, you need to purchase the dlc. If you play through the base game of S/V, you can't catch it. It is kind of a weird case in that regard and can be confusing, but regardless, it's clearly a mythical, since it's debut required an event.
I was under the impression that mythicals were a subset of legendaries rather than their own distinct category, with the defining criteria being that they’re not accessible directly without some third party intervention (eg. Event, cheats/hacks/glitches). Mew is legendary and mythical, Mewtwo is legendary.
I honestly think we should count getting the companion box legend ball from Arven as you get a legendary Pokemon in SV. since you do actually get it in your hand in a Pokeball, and it is usable in your whole playthrough, you just don't use it in battle. If we want to do otherwise then the title should be changed to "How fast can you catch a Legendary in every Pokemon game?"
I don't really understand the reasoning behind grabbing the master ball in gen 1 - my guess would have been that tossing regular balls until you get lucky is much faster, is that not the case?
I'm thinking the same. Silph eats up so much time, and great balls have the best catch rate against legends in gen 1. Surely it's faster to rush Zapdos than it is to go all the way through a completely optional (for this challenge) area.
Iirc, Anything less than an Ultra ball outright fails against the Legendaries in Gen 1 and even using an Ultraball still takes a while due to low catch rate, and if you are only running 1 pokemon, you have to pray you don't knock it out immediately or get it to low enough health. I could see the constant resetting being a reason vs blitzing Silph, but I'm not sure.
@mugenpm9979 You're probably thinking of the "you missed the Pokemon"! message. But in fact that has no meaning, it's the gen 1 equivalent of the Pokemon escaping after 0 shakes, which just signifies the difficulty of the catch. Actually, I just checked a calculator. For a legendary bird at full HP, your odds of catching it are 1.6% if unstatused (with a great ball), 11.6% if statused (with an ultra ball), and 21.6% if sleeping (with an ultra ball). Seems better than going through silph co to me!

Ok but think about it. Gen 3 had the regi puzzles. They got feedback people didn’t like that. Overcorrection is common

@@dnd1016if you catch Arceus in Legends Arceus you can get it
I think the actual reason was it’s easier to market an event as “you get arceus” then “you get an item thst lets you get an arceus”
to be fair, I don't think the majority of players would've figured those out without one of the game guides.

Thanks a ton! Happy pride!😊
lol nah cuz I remember my first play soul silver and going for Lugia lol both like 100 ultra balls only to catch it at full health on my first try 😊😊
Want that shiny video
Very good video! Just subscribed would love to see that shiny video if it doesn’t throw you into madness lol
Thanks for the support! Excited for that one myself! ;)
Considering how slow DP runs compaired to Platinum, I'm suprised that either of them are faster.
That thumbnail is wild, bro.
I subbed u are a great UA-camr
Awesome stuff man
I assume for gen 4, the lack of the distortion world makes up for the snail-speed hp drain?
You have to first catch the three beasts to unlock the rainbow wing (that is, after the elite four)
Can we do how fast can you get a Psuedo Legendary next?
yaaaay my favorite youtuber uploaded!!! 🥰😍💕
