This one was somehow the most complex yet so I would love to hear what you thought below! :) UPDATES BELOW (Spoiler!) - Great catch thanks to Headbob and a few others for gen 8, we can actually use a wishing piece in the inactive dens regardless of the badge requirement! Thus the run would likely be 45-50 minutes (as with the dragon den in that challenge) pending how difficult the ditto raid is! My thoughts exactly! ;) To this though: after getting into the routing for gen 4 I heavily debated it being it's own video, but I felt the dex video alone may have been too out of left field at least currently. But I do still wonder if it could stand on it's own and given that others have liked it we could potentially look at this challenge for other regions in the future (and potentially adapt this section as it's own in the future to go along side it). :) Thanks for the great comment!
Honestly you probably could spin off the section with a couple minor edits and a new intro and outro and it would stand well on its own. Plus given how much work this video took I say getting a second release out of it is very fair
your diamond/pearl routing is genuinely so satisfying that i'd genuinely watch a video of you just detailing the optimal route for regional dex 'seen' completion in any single game
Loved the gen 4 section, not only because it's an amazing gen, but also because it perfectly reflects the effort done on this channel. Instead of keeping it roughly the same length as the other sections we got an in-depth showcase of several routes and explanation of why they were chosen in the end. Also the Ditto in the bottom left was a nice addition and always funny to see its expression change.
Thanks so much for all the support Sev! I was really nervous about what people would think of the gen 4 section so it means a ton! And glad you loved the ditto, I had fun with that bit. XD
Close to half the videos run time is dedicated to gen 4 being unnecessarily difficult to do almost anything. My favorite childhood game has caused you so much work. I am impressed by your resolve and in awe of your immaculate planning in each game. It is both insane and inspiring. UA-cam has recommended me a channel I can't not subscribe to for such dedication to being the very best that no one ever was.
Your idea-list is probably full but im interested in a "how fast can you catch the champions ace?" in its respective edition. Like a Garchomp in Gen 4, Metagross/Milotic in Gen 3 etc.
Hm. Gen 9 you can access a cave with Glimmets pretty early but they have a VERY low spawn rate (no wonder Nemona associated Glimmora with Area Zero, since they're very common there). What's Kukui's ace? If it's Lycanroc you can probably get it the earliest out of everything since Rockruff are found near the beginning town and they don't take all THAT long to evolve. Just be sure you get the right form. For Diantha you'd need both a Gardevoir and a Gardevoirite. I don't remember where you find either. Ralts are usually fairly early on but good luck with the encounter rate. Leon gives you a Charmander in the postgame doesn't he? Idk if you can find a Charizard earlier than that. And if you want to throw in a bonus, you can access Togepis in early to mid game in Hisui and it's easier than ever to evolve them so you can rock up to Volo with a Togekiss you've had for ages.
The Omega Ruby situation is kind of hilarious. If you're completely strict about it and say you have to play the games as they exist now, rather than as they did before online services shut down... then the fastest way to get it is technically to do the entire run up until getting to check a Mirage Spot, and then if it's not the right one, resetting and starting a whole new run.
You are so right, I didn't get too into the logistics of if we did wait for the spots so I had yet to think about that being faster than waiting literal days. XD
Having done a Professor Oak’s Challenge I can say that Ditto is absolutely catchable in Sword and Shield without any badges. The raid den doesn’t naturally activate until later in the game but you are still able to throw wishing pieces in as soon as you get to the wild area for a quick capture which should easily be sub 1 hour
National Dex Run routing in Diamond/Pearl was super interesting. Loved how in depth you got with explaining all the options and investigating them. I'm sure it was a ton of effort, however as a viewer it felt worth it :)

I was so mesmerized by the gen 4 section, I scrolled down to look at the comments, and only then I looked at the video's timestamp. That's 20 mins of solely gen 4.
All of the raid dens in Sword/Shield can be activated at any time once you have a wishing piece, they just won't be part of the 10 dens with a pokémon present that reroll every day, so you could catch a Ditto before badge one inside of a 1 star raid and not have the shield that 3 star raids and above have

Here's a fun fact for catching Dittos..... if your lead has the Illusion ability, and it is active, Ditto will fail to transform into it (this works on both the move and the imposter ability)... leaving it to just sit there until you catch it, knock it out, or it runs out of Transform PP and start struggling. It's not optimal for speed, but if you can get a Zoura or Zororark before the Ditto, grabbing it can trivialize the catch.

No lie, the 100% seen pokedex strat was kinda interesting to watch, would be fun to see that done more often, but what hard work it must have been to go through
Another tip for Scarlet and Violet: If you throw your pokeball at a disguised Ditto's back, you'll have better odds of successfully catching it, made especially easy since Ditto won't react to your presence.
Came here to say this channel 100% deserves more subs and views. It's such a high effort creative idea with so much care put into every detail. Completing an entrie dex for the sake of a ditto is maddening and only encompasses one portion of the challenge. Great video! I loved the dedication on Gen 4. It got me thinking; Is Gen 4 Pearl/Diamond the only game you can complete the Regional Dex in with just a single game. "How fast can you obtain the National Dex in every game" could be fun but would be a lot of work. Even if the answer might be that it's not even possible for some games it would be fun to see just how far you can get with just a single copy. ... wait not every game has a National Dex. Uh... nevermind then I guess?
Thanks for watching! That song is certainly on the more intense side! Out of curiosity, did you still enjoy that segment + song combo? It was the song I was most worried about because of that intensity, but it was so fun and I felt it fit the segment in theme which made it hard to tell what was right. XD
Id love to see a video seeing how long it takes to obtain a move of every type in the game. It doesn't have to be learned by a mon, just needs to have been obtained.
For these kinds of videos I feel as if you were to find the specified Pokémon as if it was your first encounter would be the fastest even if going to the following routes to find it at a higher encounter rate could also be faster depending on your luck. Same applies to the Poké Ball, at least for the legendary video, theoretically you can throw a Poke Ball at the legendary beasts in GSC/HGSS for the shits and giggles and somehow get it in your first ball. lol I love these videos, keep up the good work.
Another great video!!!! One thing I will note though is that while you are right in saying the northern part of the Wild Area in SWSH unlocks for naturally occuring raids after beating the 3rd gym, you can actually throw Wishing Pieces into dens in the north part of the Wild Area before that point (as shown in this run ua-cam.com/video/NXuf6JwDtmA/v-deo.htmlsi=-J3LtSHltInyuQo_&t=4235 ). Nonetheless though I really think it's awesome the work you're putting into these videos (especially the DP Ditto my goodness lol), keep up the great work!
Thanks so much for the support and that catch! I did not at all realize that was possible! Given that, SWSH would be a similar time to our SWSH dragon run (~45 + extra walking to stony wilderness den), although I could see a scenario where the raid is actually a bit tough still so that might need to be accounted for! :)
I was curious what people would think about that! It seems it is interesting to others so I could totally clean up my notes a bit and share what I have in the future for reference + a starting place for any one who wants to try!
Another amazing episode. Just makes me all the more excited to see my idea be done but I must keep reminding myself to be patient. I hope I'm not coming off as rude for bringing it up. I sometimes just don't know what's appropriate when it comes to ideas one has pitched for a video. Regardless though I look forward to the next one.
Thanks for the continued support Golurk! No worries about asking and Pseudo legends are certainly on the table! With the completion of ditto, the 2 biggest challenges I had in the works for a while now are done. That said, their is room to try some new things and I will certainly be looking into this one. :)
@@semaJCh Sweet to hear! It would also be slightly different than the usual How Fast Can You Catch (HFCYC) episode. As the idea is per generation not per game.
As always, another ABSOLUTE BANGER from semaJ I cannot believe how much work these games make you do to get Ditto... I never really even liked Ditto when I was little and always thought they were a low tier pokemon 😂 I for real forgot halfway through the Pearl section what the challenge even was. The fact that you go through so much of this and dedicate such a ludicrous amount of your time just to give us good food is bonkers. Thanks for another crazy video! Can't wait to see what's in store next 😘
Ditto was my favorite Pokémon before Sun/Moon came out and I remember little me was annoyed that Ditto wasn’t in the Hoenn and Sinnoh Pokédex. I thought Game Freak didn’t like Ditto at the time
31:17 Street Pass wasn't shut down. That's peer to peer without internet needed, just sending short data packets to nearby 3DSes. But the issue is you'd need to be around other people also playing the same game. It could be arranged but in this day and age you'd have to set it up in advance. And, you know, use an actual system rather than the high seas. Also did I miss something? Why could you not check the field pokémon in SV with the shoulder buttons?
Then you'd have to define dog. Do foxes count? If so then Let's Go Eevee is the earliest since it's your starter. Do we count hyenas? If not how do we account for how Poochyena is very much not a hyena despite the name? Which angle do we go by?
@@BJGvideos If it can learn the move 'Howl' through any means (in any installment) then its a dog. And dont come back to me with "Oh Whismur and Scream Tail are dogs then?" because they are dogs. Dogs is a state of mind.
They knew from the very beginning that Ditto's main use would be for getting eggs. Or why else did they put it right in front of the daycare centre in the generation that introduced eggs?
Ditto isn't in Legends Arceus because the Mewtwo experiment is years away. Ditto being a failed clone of Mew would disqualify his appearance in Hisui due to it not having been created yet.

The routing analysis for obtaining the National Dex in Gen 4 is amazing, but I think it should have been it's own video.
“How fast can I get a version exclusive” might be interesting
The Nat Dex of Gen 4 was extra interesting, do you think you will release the doc for this sort of Nat dex speedrun ?
I was curious what people would think about that! It seems it is interesting to others so I could totally clean up my notes a bit and share what I have in the future for reference + a starting place for any one who wants to try!
@@semaJCh That would be wonderful, thanks you, i hope we'll get other national dex speedrun (in the limit of your energy of course)

Sweet to hear!
It would also be slightly different than the usual How Fast Can You Catch (HFCYC) episode. As the idea is per generation not per game.
I think ive mentioned this on a previous video, but I'd be interested in seeing how long it takes to obtain hyper beam in a pokemon game
Another banger from semaJ Ch
But how fast could you take a picture of a Ditto in the Pokemon SNAP! games?
I debated going into this just for the extra footage but I had to stop myself at some point. XD
Yey!!! A full video about me ❤
I remember in my first playthrough, i could not for the life of me find Burmadame anywhere.
thank you for another bangin' video from my favorite youtuber!!! 🥰🥰😍😍💕💕
Thanks for the support!
This Is after many years one of my favourite thinkpeces in this site, always reminds me to do things
Finally, we have discovered the only gamer in the world! We’ve been searching for so long! ❤
Now do every Psuedo Legendary
Thank you very much.
This is a big help.
As always, another ABSOLUTE BANGER from semaJ
I cannot believe how much work these games make you do to get Ditto... I never really even liked Ditto when I was little and always thought they were a low tier pokemon 😂
I for real forgot halfway through the Pearl section what the challenge even was. The fact that you go through so much of this and dedicate such a ludicrous amount of your time just to give us good food is bonkers. Thanks for another crazy video! Can't wait to see what's in store next 😘
I legit forgot what the video was about during Sinoh I had to check
Because not everyone knows the shoulder buttons ditto/zorua trick ...
@@FrostFire425It's pretty simple though and a lot less arcane knowledge than a lot of the stuff in this video
0:30 There are wild Bronzong in Mt. Coronet...
What if, in a game, you were an experimental ditto that breaks out of the lab and becomes a trainer
They really out here making 40 minute plus videos about something that takes 10 seconds to Google, and I'm down for it
i have a idea how fast can you get a double type pokemon in every pokemon game ( fast video and pretty cool to watch )
I thought I was watching a DP speed run to get the national dex. Completely forgot I was watching a ditto video 😂
Ditto is one my favorite Pokémon.
that one time where you want to loose against cynthia
Me at 3 a.m: I need to sleep
Also me: Well well, let's find out...
*_Identity theft : the movie_*
I know its not the usual challenge but 'How fast you can catch a dog in each game' would be fun
Here's a challenge
How fast can you catch a Baby (Pre Evolution) Pokemon?
Only Pokemon that gained a pre evolution after its introduction will count.
At diamond and Pearl i just thought this was a different video because of all the prep
Having firends racing on each game selected at random to get it with limited information or clues would have been way more fun for the video...
Looking at the chapter length makes this so funny. Diamond and Pearl last for a little under half the video and then XY are a minute and a half.
Ditto is a burble blob
RUN DITTO RUN
ohhhhh ditto lol I am very curious about how early you can catch it lol
lol awesome video
Maybe become you inner bug catcher and find the fastest bug typ in every game?
This video was made for me.
yayyyyy the kirby reference actually helped in gen 4 (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ
Was there a video on how fast you can catch magikarp in every pokemon game?
