Koko and his dad was just..❤. Their relationship is top tier! Second favorite relationship is Damos and Arceus. I really love the idea that the dude saved and befriended Poke-Zeus. Even with the misunderstanding with the jewel, there was that one part before Arceus was going to destroy the ruins, he stopped because he thought he saw Damos. That part breaks my heart. You could see how much Arceus cared for him even after everything. And then their reconciliation/forgiveness afterward. It just makes me cry every time. They had such a beautiful friendship!
I will always have a soft spot for Pokemon Ranger And The Temple Of The Sea. I'm a huge fan of tha ranger spinoffs so any time I see them in movies or anime I get so excited. I've always been much more fascinated with the bonds rangers make with pokemon. That and watching the movie reminds me of when I played shadows of almia. I just can't get over how happy it makes me to have a pokemon ranger movie, to show people how cool rangers could be. (I would really love for pokemon to acknowledge the rangers again, any piece of media involving the rangers is so precious and nostalgic to me.) Zoroark Master Of Illusions is another top fav due to everything with Zorua (I love zoruas) I haven't really watched many of the movies but others I have I also like are Pokemon Heroes and Pokemon Destiny Deoyxs.
I'm so glad someone finally appreciates the peak that is The Power of Us (I'm extremely biased for anything Zeraora related, so that's a big part of it for me but whatever it's good)
The first Pokémon movie i ever watched was latias and latios. I watched at a friend's house on one of those gigantic TVs, we basically ate junk food and soda and just watched that movie. We also watched the 1st Pokémon as well, we were kinda on a Pokémon marathon, and we're even watching old episodes. Sadly, I'm no longer close to that friend, but I do say hi to him whenever I see him around town

Imo, i think it's such a missed opportunity to not make the "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution" in line with "I Choose You", "Power of Us", and "Secret of thr Jungle" then just a 3D version of the first movie We already got the AU Ash, even he got a second movie, not just 1 anniversary movie only. Continuing what if he travel alone and not with Misty & Brock Then suddenly the OG Ash cameback in the Movie, why? was it because the Anime series not doing well? Glad they back with the AU Ash in Secret of the Jungle, even gave him the best design. Like a 10x upgrade of the Journeys outfit 😅
It’s interesting that for a movie set in Kanto and showcasing a Gen 4 Pokémon (I was before the whole legendary/mythical split so I call them legendary regardless), Temple of the Sea would have worked fantastically in Hoenn because the plot is at least half the run time in or around water and Hoenn is half water. Between Jack Walker and the People of the Water there could have been a really good spin-off where the former gets to interact more with the latter. The People of the Water just feel so well suited to Hoenn anyway, and could have tied into some Kyogre lore.
@@xRaiofSunshineI like the Jewel of Life movie because it has Arceus saying "PREPARE FOR JUSTICE", which is now my favorite quote from the Pokemon series. Also, why do people hate Arceus's voice? Personally, I find the voice to be quite enjoyably funny and menacing. Whenever Arceus is enraged, I was a bit unsettled by his voice because of how angry he sounded. In my personal opinion, Arceus truly carried this movie, imo. I'll say it with my chest: Arceus and the Jewel of Life is GOATED.
41:16 funniest part, this is probably the only piece of media where Mewtwo is relatively happy, cant belive all she needed was to transition lmao congrats for her
I agreed with a lot of these takes, just a couple things I took issue with however: 1. The Regis make funny noises when attacking so the battles are 5/5, making the Lucario movie 21/20 2. Zekrom >>>>> Reshiram (this is a joke as I love Resh too, but Zek is better)
Watched all of it, subbed immediately. Peak funny, good review on most of the films, and honestly it was refreshing to hear “just enjoy it if you enjoy it” as the main takeaway. I haven’t watched any of these in years, but I remember the Celebi movie more fondly than it probably deserved haha.
While hitting the like button for this awesome review, I gotta say: As someone who's been listening to Alf's video game music playlists several dozen times a week to get through my work grind, hearing you use his banger dj mix in the background triggered an extra bit of enjoyment out of me with this

I think Genesect just forgot that Mewtwo was created in a lab and was like "oh hey let's put a female Mewtwo here! There could be a female one, they're born in nature right?!"
The Mewtwo in this movie was actualy created by Team Plasma after apparently stealing data and genetic samples from team rocket of the original mewtwo The reason they made a 2nd mewtwo was to showcase Mega Mewtwo Y and they didnt want to explain why the original would suddenly have this power

The 3rd movie might have been great if that was how you were introduced to unown, but I already knew them as just the pathetic little floating letter pokemon so to see a whole movie about how absurdly reality bendingly powerful they are was just really jarring, I could not enjoy the movie much because of it
I never gave any thought to watching any more Pokemon movies after Hoopa and the Clash of Ages disappointment. But I have to admit, you have made me add Secrets of the Jungle to my watchlist. I need to find where to watch The Power of Us as well. Thanks for the great list!
I forget where I read this, but it's apparently because Alola is an archipelago and has a very specific tropical vibe, so using places from other parts of our world while Ash is supposed to be there like they do for other movies would stick out. In addition, box office performance in Japan had delined so much that they wanted to make the movies less predictable, hence the alternate universe.
He is not overstating how weird super sayan ash was. I enjoyed the whole movie, then got to that point and had to stop and just stew in how baffled I was that they would do this and the implications that ash is just simply this ultra powerful being for no reason, and they never mentioned a point when it stops so presumably he's just got that power in his back pocket for the entire rest of the time he's protagonist
The Rise of Darkrai is my favorite movie, but honestly, for me, it includes the 2 movies after it because they connect and the pokemon remember Ash. I don't know why, but when pokemon remembers, it just makes the movie(s) better
Listening to the opening bars of the original pokemon intro on repeat without it ever resolving is a war crime, for which you must serve two hours community service.

Just wanted to say, as someone who likes Pokémon but is more casual and has most memories of watching 4ever (it was on Jetix a lot) and hasnt seen most of these (even in the classic era), I thought this was an amazing video. My main criticism is how you should've had the Ash almost dies scale is too high and from what I could tell, a lot of films should've got a 1 or 2 instead of mostly 3s However, I'm not sure if it was just me but your love for the franchise and the way you explain these stories I have never seen was really encapsulating and actually brought me to tears a fair bit. You really knocked it out the park and made me want to look up some of these to watch

As someone who grew up watching the anime and now has a Gecko named Treecko, I somehow haven’t seen all the movies. I need to fix that.
Gosh that butterfree scene in I choose you actually makes me tear up every time😭
"Are you surprised" Hoopa movie was really bad
I loved clash of ages😭
I will always have a soft spot for Pokemon Ranger And The Temple Of The Sea. I'm a huge fan of tha ranger spinoffs so any time I see them in movies or anime I get so excited. I've always been much more fascinated with the bonds rangers make with pokemon. That and watching the movie reminds me of when I played shadows of almia. I just can't get over how happy it makes me to have a pokemon ranger movie, to show people how cool rangers could be. (I would really love for pokemon to acknowledge the rangers again, any piece of media involving the rangers is so precious and nostalgic to me.)
Zoroark Master Of Illusions is another top fav due to everything with Zorua (I love zoruas)
I haven't really watched many of the movies but others I have I also like are Pokemon Heroes and Pokemon Destiny Deoyxs.
Ash’s tears can cure real life cancer at this point.
I'm so glad someone finally appreciates the peak that is The Power of Us (I'm extremely biased for anything Zeraora related, so that's a big part of it for me but whatever it's good)
I actually saw that one in theaters when it came out! I found it pretty fun. I'm honestly considering getting the DVD one of these days.
ZERAORA HE MY BOI :3
I read the tiltle as "Pokemon Move" not "Movie" and expected you to watch battle animations for an hour
Sadly, I'm no longer close to that friend, but I do say hi to him whenever I see him around town
im in shock that im not the only one that loved secrets of the jungle, i love the message at the end and its thx to this movie that zarude its my favorite pokemon of all time
Power of us is the peak. Its not only a great kids movie, its also a great story for any young adult.
> "this villain who collects all 3 legendary birds to summon Lugia to capture it"
But isn't it what we do as playeable character when play the game?
So we are actually a villain in game? 😄
Gen V: "Yes....?"
“Mewtwo is a woman now - congratulations”
IKTR
Imo, i think it's such a missed opportunity to not make the "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution" in line with "I Choose You", "Power of Us", and "Secret of thr Jungle" then just a 3D version of the first movie
We already got the AU Ash, even he got a second movie, not just 1 anniversary movie only. Continuing what if he travel alone and not with Misty & Brock
Then suddenly the OG Ash cameback in the Movie, why? was it because the Anime series not doing well?
I looooooved Heroes, Jirachi, Lucario, and Deoxys as a kid, they’re soo much fun 😊
DARKRAI TOO OMG
The Manaphy movie made me soooo hecking thirsty as a kid too 😮
@@xRaiofSunshineI like the Jewel of Life movie because it has Arceus saying "PREPARE FOR JUSTICE", which is now my favorite quote from the Pokemon series.
41:16 funniest part, this is probably the only piece of media where Mewtwo is relatively happy, cant belive all she needed was to transition lmao congrats for her
Pffffffft
Good for her
I agreed with a lot of these takes, just a couple things I took issue with however:
1. The Regis make funny noises when attacking so the battles are 5/5, making the Lucario movie 21/20
While hitting the like button for this awesome review, I gotta say: As someone who's been listening to Alf's video game music playlists several dozen times a week to get through my work grind, hearing you use his banger dj mix in the background triggered an extra bit of enjoyment out of me with this
I have watched all of these, but the last one was so long ago. I remember most of them being bangers
i remember thinking that the big plant mech suit thing from the celebi movie looked absolutely awesome as a kid. Watching this, I am shocked at how bad the CGI actually was.
9:38 you think ash is saved, but as with all superman catch falling people, ash is dead from the sudden deceleration. him surviving is an illusion.
I think Genesect just forgot that Mewtwo was created in a lab and was like "oh hey let's put a female Mewtwo here! There could be a female one, they're born in nature right?!"
The Mewtwo in this movie was actualy created by Team Plasma after apparently stealing data and genetic samples from team rocket of the original mewtwo
The reason they made a 2nd mewtwo was to showcase Mega Mewtwo Y and they didnt want to explain why the original would suddenly have this power
You did an amazing job with this video, thanks for the trip down Pokémon lane ❤ thanks for your hard work on this video!!! Really good watch keep up the good work ✌️
i will defend hoopa and the legendary battles till the day i die (im full of nostalgic bias).
SHINY MEGA RAY MAKES IT PEAK!
The thought of anyone having nostalgia for Hoopa sent me into a state of shock, I'm sorry
@MxPokirby Same The XY movies were lowkey bad 😭
I was just rewatching the Ted barbie video the other day, guess it's time to rewatch this too 😂
14:24 This is so surreal, as I never remember seeing Celebi turned evil and made that THING of sgi monster lmao
17:33 I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought they looked like totally spys villains🤣🤣🤣
OTHER PEOPLE LIKE SECRETS OF THE JUNGLE AND IM NOT FUCKING CRAZY???? THANK FUCKING GOD
Also not a movie but shout outs to the special during Ash's final episodes. Legit one of the many time this series made me cry lmao
I LOVE THE JUNJLE !!!!!
The bad guy has a R on his chest he works for team Rocket so team Rocket made the Dark pokeballs
The 3rd movie might have been great if that was how you were introduced to unown, but I already knew them as just the pathetic little floating letter pokemon so to see a whole movie about how absurdly reality bendingly powerful they are was just really jarring, I could not enjoy the movie much because of it
Hell yeah, I can't wait to see what you say about my favorite one, Pokemon: The Movie 2000!
...oh...
I never gave any thought to watching any more Pokemon movies after Hoopa and the Clash of Ages disappointment. But I have to admit, you have made me add Secrets of the Jungle to my watchlist. I need to find where to watch The Power of Us as well.
Thanks for the great list!
You’ve inspired me to watch secrets of the jungle. Also there’s like no specific gen 7 movies and I think that’s very odd
This was such a wonderful video, and a rollercoaster, you've had me laughing, complaining about your Jirachi wishmaker score (as a joke) and crying. A LOT of crying. Oh and vibing too! Truly a wonderful video, I've enjoyed it so so much!
Your comment is so positive and boring. You proved how bad his content is.
@@mihaimercenarul7467 if you think his content is boring, you don't have to watch it, hope this helps ❤
Meowth breaking the fourth wall is just hilarious
41:49 bro I shipped Genesect and Mewtwo from this movie so hard
You gained my respect with the Battle Garegga music.
I haven't started watching the video yet but just shouting out ahead of time that Pokemon Heroes is genuine kino, like an actually fr great and beautiful movie
I had no idea I had watched so many pokemon movies, core memory unlocked
Aww this was a ton of fun to watch! Looking forward to seeing more from you :)
Just wanted to say, as someone who likes Pokémon but is more casual and has most memories of watching 4ever (it was on Jetix a lot) and hasnt seen most of these (even in the classic era), I thought this was an amazing video. My main criticism is how you should've had the Ash almost dies scale is too high and from what I could tell, a lot of films should've got a 1 or 2 instead of mostly 3s
However, I'm not sure if it was just me but your love for the franchise and the way you explain these stories I have never seen was really encapsulating and actually brought me to tears a fair bit. You really knocked it out the park and made me want to look up some of these to watch
I like this guy, he has a chill vibe. Subscribed
The gen 1 to gen 4 movies were my absolute favorite! I used to have a cd with all the movies and would binge it when I was alone in the house
Idk why but the first ten seconds hit me with a brick of nostalgia I almost wanted to cry
I haven't watched a pokemon movie since the Power of Us, with everything between it and Giratina and The Sky Warrior skipped, and this video actually got me to sit down and watch Secrets of the Jungle and I actually got really emotional! I had forgotten how much I loved these movies, and I'm so glad I stumbled upon this video. Thank you for making something so wonderful and entertaining.
lucario and the mystery of mew is the reason i like angst. that shouldn’t have been my first pokemon movie
Am I a grown ass man?
Yes...
Do I cry every time I watch Pokemon Heroes?
Also yes...
