I'm in Canada. I do not get to see the shows until Monday. Immediately after watching the show I come to you for the recap. Love to hear you talk about stuff I am feeling too. It is frustrating to have to wait until Monday, but the little ray of sunshine is that I get to hear you with no wait time. Love what you do. Thanks so much.
It's a shame that we Canadians can only see it on the W channel which has 21 commercials !!! You have just watched Ian's passing , and wham , toothpaste , pizza , and heaven knows what else are thrust upon us . Also to add to my fury the Starz subscription I paid for in Canada turns out be invalid here . Only valid in America . I so enjoy your recaps they help to pull everything together .Sorry for my rant Paula , and Jenn.
You are, and have always been the perfect companion to both the show and the books. I'm someone who adores the books, own both physical and audio books of the series and own all the seasons's released on blu-ray, i definitely consider myself a super fan for sure. But after ever book and every episode I can't wait to watch your new upload on the new material. I feel guilty that i haven't explored what other books you've ranted about that I should probably look into, but I assure you I will!!!
The beginning with Ian truly wrecked me. I really loved that line they gave him. When he's talking to Jamie on that hill and says "If miracles like Claire exist in this life imagine what's waiting for us after we die".Also I just realized why did they have Mercy help them with the surgery and not Rachel? Since she's been acting as a nurse/helper to Denny. I'm thinking they didn't have the Dorothea character for budget cuts. They'd have to pay another actress and she wasn't necessary to tell the story. Same with Fergus and Marsali i guess. Although I was really sad not to see them. Fergus is one of my favorite characters. And finally I can't tell you how excited I am for the next episode! For all the Lord John and Claire moments... I'm thinking they'll finish the episode with Jamie showing up. They love a cliffhanger....
Thanks for another great recap! I always look forward to your insights. 💚 I’m excited for next week’s episode and the scenes between Lord John and Claire. I wasn’t a fan of what happens next when I first read the book, however the actors are so brilliant that what follows makes sense to me now. 😄
💚💚💚💚💚💚💚I love your insights, profound reviews , thoughts and in-depth coverage on Outlander. You're the best living and breathing Outlander encyclopedia. I would even listen to 3 hour videos. Thanks so much .
truly powerful episode and so much that happens. I am series first but started reading the books afterwards and got to reading them because of a friend.
I felt a little disoriented in two of the scenes that are so engrained in my mind as 'print shop scenes' (the fight with Arch Bug and Lord John telling Claire about Jamie's ship). Not that the way they did it didn't work. It just took my brain a bit longer to get there. Yeah, I wonder if Jenny will eventually go to America. Maybe in S8 when Fergus and Marsali are back in the picture.. ?? It really felt right in the book that she did go. I just saw an interview with Joey (Denzel) where he hints at a little romance for his character. That's all he said. So.. ?? Having read the books, I knew Jamie was not dead, and would never have believed it anyway, with 6 episodes of S7B and S8 to go! I still sobbed through that montage though!!! lol! Caitriona is so amazing! I get your giddiness! It's like Denzel nerding out over cutting open a man's abdomen. We are seeing these amazing scenes that were words on page now come to life! 💚💚💚
I'm also in Canada, so Yes, waiting until Monday is frustrating. I have read all of the books, I find it interesting to see how they adapt to the screen or what story lines they cut out. This may be a spoiler, I don't know, but I think Jenny should go to America for season 8, because from what I have heard it will be based on Go Tell the Bees... and Jenny is a big part of Ian and Rachel's story. 💚
All was going well then I became undone at Ian’s bed and his last words he muttered about being on Jamie’s left… I balled, oh jeez I’m starting again. I can’t even think about it and it starts me. My one thing about Jamie and Claire leaving each other is, we know that bad shit goes down whenever they’re apart and I just don’t believe it enough that the reason they gave for Claire to leave Jamie was for Henry. Henry who, plus this guy has been shot, he’s not eating, he’s had minor surgery already and this plus the time to travel from Scotland over there is weeks…. Henry would’ve been dead from infection and lack of nutrition by the time Claire would’ve showed up; or couldn’t be saved and Claire would’ve known this. I just wish the reason they gave for Claire to leave was stronger, Marsali or Fergus took a spell or Lizzy. I think Lizzy might’ve been the better option given the Henri-Christian storyline if the show follows that. Roger and Buck, I absolutely adore these pair together… at the last episode of 7a when Buck tells Roger he will go back with him because they’re kin, I fell for him then. They’re excellent together and Roger’s inner dialogue is fun, I’ve enjoyed the Rogerisms 😂 I think it’s fair to say that these first two episodes have been hitting every mark, just one thing after another, they’ve not held back or done any filler work. I don’t want this to be over 😢
This episode picked right up with the tears in the beginning. Enjoyed the episode but i agree it wasn't as strong as last week. I'm getting tired of Roger's inner thoughts being voiced. It was fine last week but I'm already over it now.
I took Jenny's decline as the show's way of telling us they would not be including her in this part of the storyline. I honestly understand that decision now that laura donnely is not included. The new actress is fine, but she is a stand in at this point in the series and does not have the same chemistry with the other characters. I wouldn't be mad if Jenny ends up changing her mind and they are including her because I like book accuracy, but I would understand the decision not to.
I've since seen it pretty much confirmed by Diana that this was a conclusion to all things Scotland. 🥲🥲 So I doubt we'll get Jenny in the future. Which is a bummer.
That was my conclusion, too. I think they are streamlining many elements in the book to fit in the major plot points. One of the other reviews I read speculated that, unlike the books, the show runners will only include ONE battle, because it’s too expensive, not to mention the problems time-wise. And it’s not only the absence of Fergus, Marsali, and their children. Lord Hal Melton, John Grey’s BROTHER is a significant character in the books,,but I surmise they eliminated him from the show also. I LOVED his relationship with John …and interactions with Claire also. However, I prefer some of the show’s changes, like the meeting between Dougal and Geilis and how Roger quickly pockets the dog tags to avoid Geilis seeing them! Oh, and Roger’s asides! Lolol Nitpick: I hated that the show has taken away Jamie’s lefthanndedness. (I’m a left hander and loved that!) ….oh well. I think large parts of book 9 will be passed over also. And they must have devised a new ending that doesn’t comport with Gabaldon’s vision. She even stated that.
Richardson is not Mary’s son. Ezekiel Richardson is a completely different person. Brianna thinks he might be the archeologist, Michael Callahan and a time traveler. Denys Randall-Isaacs is Mary’s son. He meets William when they are both working for Richardson. He is in the books, but hasn’t been in the show.
What are your thoughts from epsiode 10?

Yes, being from Canada too, waiting until Monday is frustrating.😒 But I love hearing Jenn break everything down. 💚 It makes the wait worth it.💚💚💚

🥰🥰 Well, I'm honored that you come for my Outlander Reviews either way. Haha! Maybe I'll tempt you into something else eventually. Haha!

🥹🥰🥰 awww! Many thanks!
Lovely review! I really liked Lord John and Claire, they are suffering, but he is a gentleman always.
So many feels. I knew it was coming and I bawled through the scenes with Ian. Wowza.
Thank you so much for your recap for this episode , i really enjoyed it. Thanks again 😊❤
Thank you so much for doing these recaps and reviews. 💚💚
truly powerful episode and so much that happens. I am series first but started reading the books afterwards and got to reading them because of a friend.
They are so good! So comforting to me.
Great job as always 💚💚

I think Jamie will be okay with LJ marrying Claire with the exception of sleeping with her at a very low point for them both.
Richardson is Mary's son Black Jack's nephew
Nice! Great reminder! Theres so many family lines to track!
Okay, this makes more sense. I remember the name Randall-Isaacs. 😅 Too many names, so I usually trust my fact checkers. Haha! Thank you!
