Roger was thinking "Jeremiah Mackenzie" when he went thru the stones. Not only is that his son's name, it's also his father's name. Back when they had to evacuate the fort you'll remember when Claire told Walter he would have to stay she said the British would have to show him mercy. He repeated "Mercy". Show only watchers probably didn't give it a second thought but book readers understood. I, too, loved Walter. In the book Claire didn't know if Walter survived. I did like the way the show could give Mercy closure.
Exactly! That’s the reason the stones send them to 1739. Gabaldon wrote an ENTIRE short story or novella ….I forget which…about Roger’s father ending up time traveling to this time….and what happens to him. The implication I believe is it was always meant to be. The reason there are all these time travellers and that they are related is that it’s a hereditary trait. I LOVE that Dougal,is BOTH Brianna’s great uncle AND Roger’s 5th or 6th great grandpa! Wow. Oh, one more tidbit….when Geilis meets Roger….TWICE…in 1968, he tells her his name is Roger WAKEFIELD, his uncle’s name…so that might confuse her memory. In general, I recommend the short stories and novellas. Gabaldon wrote basically a whole series just about Lord John! I assumed that they would eventually become a TV show, but instead, they’re making that prequel. Anyway, the short stories have a LOT more info than in the big books. There is a whole part in one story about Joan traveling to Paris to the convent accompanied by Michael Murray. This stuff does NOT a appear in Gabaldon’s big books.
Oh wow! Yea, Walter really did resonate with me for having only been on the show like two episodes. So cool to know he said her name and that wouldn't even be know to show watchers for over a year!
Oh shoot, Yea I felt like they met in the 60's but it was brief cuz I couldn't remember it! The name change would definitely help him not be recognized. When I first started watching this show I had planned to read the books after each season. I read the first one but people were saying the show was presenting some stuff a bit out of order. It wasn't a direct one book to one season adaptation they were addressing some stuff early and holding other things for reveals in later seasons. So to avoid the risk of spoilers I decided to just enjoy the story presented in the show first and once it's over go back and read everything. lol
This was a great episode , jamie told claire years ago that she would not make a good spy because everyone can se on her face what she is thinking, l guess claire forgot. Thank you so much for your reaction .😊❤
Always love your reactions my dear! God Bless you! As a book reader, this is going to be an even bumpier ride going forward than this episode, believe it or not.
I was totally waiting for your reaction to it being Roger's father. I'm totally looking forward to more episodes of the show but at the same time I know the end is near, I'm not sure what to do when I'm not looking forward to Outlander.
Lol, I didn't think they'd be introducing even more crazy stuff! There is going to be one more season after this one right? Still only like 12 or so left in the whole show sucks. Why are they doing this?! I could watch this show forever!
Could it because that when Roger came across the stones, he was thinking about “Jeremiah”right? But instead of leading them towards young Jeremiah, the stones actually brought them further back in time so that Roger would meet his own dad, older Jeremiah, after a long time of his alleged/mysterious disappearance??🤔
I love the Buck/Roger storyline in Book 8. There is a Novella that gives the explanation on Rogers dad" A Leaf on the Wind of all Hallows" It's worth the short read.
Ain’t no one from the audience is gonna believe that Jamie is dead🤭😎😊, that’s why I didn’t get that emotional compared to what Claire would’ve felt which is totally understandable🥹 Roger’s plot gets more and more interesting🧐and they keep bringing back characters like Dugal this ep plus Gillis(how to spell her name again?)these comebacks are always a pleasant to watch😇 P.S. I’m curious👀it’s been 2 episodes already since the return, when are Rob Cameron and Jeremiah gonna show up? Surely they are about to right? (Book readers don’t spoil me🥰)
Yea, I knew that couldn't be the case. So I felt bad for Claire thinking he was dead but I didn't get to the point of worrying at all lol Seriously they need to bring them all back! I'm down for it!
I love watching you watch Outlander. I always laugh and am so entertained by your reactions. There is going to need to be a great deal of explaining with Jamie rolls into town... but let's not forget Jamie had explaining to do to Claire when she time traveled back and found out he was married to ... I can't remember her name right now... but the women who is obsessed with Jamie and shot him. This is going to be fun. Let's not forget poor John's grief... this actor is so outstanding.
Aww, thanks! Glad we can watch it together! Responding to this late and having already seen the next two episodes... my goodness lol Yea, Jamie definitely gets a lot more jealous. John is an awesome character and all these actors are so amazing at bringing them to life!
Ian's death was soooooo sad. Love Ian/Jamie's friendship. Roger isn't normally my favorite character but I enjoyed him a lot this episode. His inner monologe: hysterical at times. I love watching surgeries! The only ones I can't watch are the eyes & teeth, no thank you. Loved your reaction when you see Dougal, I was the same lol and I knew it was going to happen. Just a warning, next episode, have an alcoholic drink or 5 with you & a box of kleenex. Enjoy!
Yea, I liked the decision to do a Roger voiceover. I think it bridges a bit of the gap that naturally arises from adapting book to show. Books can so seamlessly weave events and inner thoughts of the character. Not only did Roger's scenes need to make clear all the connections happening around him for the audience's benefit. But it made a layered and funny "think one thing say another" situation. I wish I could still drink! I developed an alcohol intolerance! Darn condition is genetic and hereditary. My mom also stopped being able to process alcohol around the same age. Now one drink and I'm in for about two days of my heart nearly beating out of my chest and a splitting headache. Totally ruining my Outlander viewing tradition! lol

Always love your reactions my dear! God Bless you! As a book reader, this is going to be an even bumpier ride going forward than this episode, believe it or not.

Sounds like it. Darn stones need to inquire about more than just a first name to send people lol

I feel like this show saw the show "Dark" and said, "We'll have a bit o' that."
I just had to look up what that show was about. lol Now I want to watch it!
