I always love Claire and Lord John interactions. I 100% agree that one whole episode for the Bree and Roger storylines would be better. Season 7 continues to be great. 💚💚💚
I love the episode reviews you do. I also get teary eyed during this show. I didn’t read the books but have listened on audible to some parts. I like that you give insight to what’s in the books.
Thanks so much for the reaction of this episode it was terrific . Loved when jamie burst in and to see claire face was just as i pictured in the book , although it happened just a bit differently than the book. Thanks again till next time.😊❤
I love a Lord John episode, and this was a good one. Lovely seeing the book come to life, and this current LJG storyline is one of my favourites in the book, haha, with Claire and then Jamie and all the shenanigans he ends up in. I agree with you that they should have done something better to show the passage of time, because the whole Claire stuff felt rushed, which is not good for something like grief. It felt like it was all happening in a week, instead of the 6 weeks it should have been.
💚💚💚💚 Love the scenes with Claire and Lord John; Rachel and Ian - incredible acting by all the amazing actors. 💚 I would have love to see the development of the relationship between William and Claire. Instead of all that time with Buck and Roger looking for his father. Agree with you Jenn, since Jemmy was not in the past, Roger ended up with a different Jeremiah. Absolutely loving this season. 💚💚 Giving the episode 8 for showcasing so many scenes from the book. 💚💚
Right before we watched this episode I asked my husband- who doesn't read the books and I gave him no spoilers - if he thinks Jamie is really dead and he said no absolutely not Jamie is not dead. Then in that bedroom scene with John and Claire, my husband says right out loud, Oh Jamie is gonna be pissed when he finds out! Great episode, I am with you 100% on the book comparison Jenn! 💚💚💚
💚💚 another great review, book recap. Note: I keep a box of necessary tissues nearby. Happy, sad, shocked; just about any feeling invokes the flood of tears with this show!
💚💚💚💚💚💚💚Boy I adore your reviews. Agree on all the things that you mentioned. I loved John's and Claire's scenes together. Gosh, carnal knowledge I was so ready for it ! David Berry is amazing and LJG is the most selfless and noble character in the entire saga. I also enjoyed Claire as Lady Grey, Claire being the ultimate survivor that she is would always be able to keep her head above water and move on. I agree as well that the Roger scenes are dragged out and sluggish. In the books it's way more thrilling and interesting. Like you , I am a book lover first, the show is fantastic but Diana's books reign supreme. I am a huge Bree fan and her scenes are hardly there in the last episodes . Thanks again for all the hard work with your insights !
Yes! I NEED Bree as a momma bear to show up. We deserve it and it's time. I'm really looking forward to her stuff with the kids. LJG is too sweet for this world.
I really appreciated that the show took the Henry/Mercy relationship seriously, including establishing Walter’s death and actually showing the couple together. I understand John’s objection, but I’m still rooting for them - Philly will actually be a good place for them to settle, and with Quaker family connections, I think they have a shot. 💚💚💚
I do agree that we need a Roger and Bree episode to bring it all together, or a majority of the episode this way, similar to how they did some episodes in S2 and S3. I am really hoping that they show Bree in mama bear mode but when Bree is fierce she’s amazing. I love John Bell, I think he’s amazing. I look back to his scenes in S3 and his presence on screen was a great time. But then when Ian returns from the Mowhawk and we see him fighting with axes to save Claire, he is fierce. I just feel they’re not giving Ian enough or they’re holding him back a bit. My favourite moment from the entire episode was the end. Jamie has a gun to Johns head and pushes him down the corridor and Claire is stood there like, wtf is happening and OMG joy and elation because her husband is back and alive and she’s almost laughing..it’s a bit like looking back to S2 where Jamie and Claire pull these tricks on people, Claire pretends to have a vision and also Claire pretends that Jamie has captured her and John is a young boy. This moment is so whole to me, this is a remembrance of the earlier life together but also how when they come together there’s always some drama right 😂 I loved it!
It's that bone deep knowledge in the other person and how they will react. It's so beautiful. And I couldn't help but get giddy.. especially after the utter despair that she has been living in. It's so amazing to watch. This is when these actors really shine.
After these last 9 pages, which book comes next? The one below? Or the one after. I did the audio book through Amazon and it’s a bit confusing but I’m caught up to “Written in my own hearts blood”. I think it’s on target with what you just covered, yes? 💚💚💚
Fun fact…the show had to add that little clip of Brianna breaking her finger in the drawer because the actress who plays her actually broke her finger in real life. So they had to quickly write it into the story because she would have to have it wrapped!
I have to say i was a little disappointed with the episode. I only liked two scenes. The first one when Ian goes to ask Claire if she'll leave. She says no and he says "Good because I couldn't lose you both" and they hug. And the second was the comfortation between William and Jamie. The facial expressions of William were amazing! There were a couple of things that seemed absurd to me. One was when captain Richardson in a room full of people tells Claire that he's a rebel. I was like wtf? Anyone could overheard.... And the second was when Jamie comes back and John says Your son is coming. I know they had to progress the story somehow and quickly but it makes no sense to me. John should have just said My son is coming.... Anyway.... My biggest issue is that I wanted the intimate scene between Claire and John to be spicier. I mean they didn't even kiss... I saw an interview with David Berry and he said that they shot more intimate stuff but they got cut. Anyway.... I'm saving the best for last... Go back to the scene where Claire dances with captain Richardson but keep it on mute. The way he dances is sooo funny...... 😂😂😂
It wouldn’t surprise me if there are flashback scenes shown of John and Claire. I would’ve liked to had some spicy John time but I actually like the way they did it. The morning after was so awkward but also a little but wholesome 😂
Hahaha! Thanks so much for your thoughts. Love to see it. And, you are 100% right about the dancing AND about the conversation. Why couldn't they have stepped out in the backyard for a stroll or something. He just says, "I'm a rebel" at regular volume. bahaha! That is so cringe. I would also say, after rereading the scene in the book, we only infer that John and Claire do the deed there as well. And I understand, as the romance reader in me, why showing the actual act would be a bridge too far for some. I myself, don't actually need to see it. My favorite scenes are the talking anyway.
@@TheBookRefuge That's why I wanted to see it. To see how out of their minds they were. That they didn't really know what they were doing. I thought maybe they wanted to focus more on the Jamie Claire relationship but it can't be that because they've showed in the past Claire having sex with Frank and the king and Jamie with William's mother. Now that they didn't show anything I'm not so sure anything actually happened. I mean they were really drunk. They could have just humped for a bit and then fell asleep. Who's to say? I don't consider them reliable.
I completely agree about having the Mac storyline in their own episodes. Also, great point about Fergus and Marsali. Another reason Claire doesn’t go back in the books is because she thinks it might kill her this time. But until Buck, the show doesn’t make it clear how dangerous time travel is. I did really love this episode. Cait and David were phenomenal. Wow! As always, I appreciate your recaps and reviews! 💚💚
Thank you for watching and chatting! Yeah, it's another case of missing what is NOT on screen then being upset by what they keep. Cause every scene is so book accurate... there are just certain omissions I miss. Very strong season though
Book reader here…but I haven’t read them for a long time. Various thoughts: I believe they initially traveled to 1980 when Mandy was an infant. I thought this took place in the mid 80s. Why do they say SPANISH gold? Isn’t it FRENCH gold? The first time I read the book, I was so upset that Roger and Buck went too far back in time, so much that I couldn’t read anymore for 8 months! I thought Roger would be stuck in that time FOREVER! Regarding John Bell, he was first in a movie when he was 7 years old, and the critic Roger Ebert predicted he would grow up to become a great actor. 😄 I don’t recall this from the book at all, but when William says Jamie is just a groom….why wouldn’t John respond with more information, that he was actually a laird and a political prisoner? That Jamie saved his life, etc. Also, I thought Roger’s mother died when he was a toddler - she couldn’t have explained to Roger anything about his father’s death. Also, not this episode, but in the previous one, I thought it was weird that all the Scottish places geographically were far apart from each other in the first season, but it appeared on the show now as if they were all right nearby! Anyway, I love your vlog! 💚💚💚 (I love green, but what is the significance of green hearts?)
I always love Claire and Lord John interactions. I 100% agree that one whole episode for the Bree and Roger storylines would be better. Season 7 continues to be great. 💚💚💚
Yes, I don't mind the time jumping, but it had more energy in episode 1. I don't think it was needed here. They are just wandering now.
💚💚💚 dead so excited for you to recap this episode! Love all All your Outlander content!
💚💚💚 It gets me so HYPED!
I love the episode reviews you do. I also get teary eyed during this show. I didn’t read the books but have listened on audible to some parts. I like that you give insight to what’s in the books.
Hello Jenn, I’m glad you continued with this series 🎉❤ I love watching your breakdown of each episode and the book comparisons is my favorite ❤

💚💚 I love all of it!
💚 have not watched Outlander in years but this recap made me want to go watch it lol
Main reason I love you so much is because you are book focus watcher like myself.
💚💚 another great review, book recap. Note: I keep a box of necessary tissues nearby. Happy, sad, shocked; just about any feeling invokes the flood of tears with this show!
Oh yes! I need to restock after this episode. haha!
I agree with everything you said.

Their love is so honest and beautiful... I believe in them.

Go Tell the Bees I am Gone is book 9, and the last book currently released. Book 10 has no release date yet. 😳
Maybe I should be a member so I don't have to wait so long for these
I'm pretty sure they will do a just rodger and buck episode this season. I think it only makes logical sense. I'm sure the show won't let me down.
