I MAKE THIS ALL THE TIME WITH A FORKS OVER KNIVES RECIPE. Soo delicious! Also to shell them rinse them and shake them REALLY hard in the strainer while you rinse that loosens the skins up and they usually pop off if you roll them in your fingers.
You make this? Please tell me you use pre-cooked and don't poison yourself regularly, chickpeas contain phytohemoglutanin which has to be exposed to boiling water for a minimum of 10 min to not be toxic to humans
@@aleeshamiah936 yep, in the period when your body is getting used to a different microbiome. After that, it's fine. Some people take longer, some barely have any bloating and stuff like that at the start. Depends on what they are before and what their diet is now.
I'm here for both the vegan edible cookie dough and Merle & Aria. It really feels like I've watched their relationship unfold through this series. Keep 'em coming! 😊
it's waay easier to take off the shells/skin of chickpea if you just "pinch" it at one side. the chickpea will slide right off and the skin will stay on your fingers. you can also put them in between layers of cloth like she did and roll them a bit with your hand, the skin will also come off easily, but I prefer to just pinch it.
It might also be easier to pull them off before soaking them. It's the only way I've ever done it and i have no problem. They're hard so you just pinch it a bit and they slide right out. I think soaking them probably makes them mushy and difficulty to work with
There's an even better way to do it tho - after soaking and rinsing, put them in a pot with some baking soda on medium heat and let it sizzle for ~3min, then cover with water and cook as usual. Most of the skins will come off by themselves, and the rest will be super easy to peel, because the soda is alkaline and that breaks down the chickpea skins, doesn't change the taste at all. For 1 cup of dried chickpeas I'd do around 1tsp of soda. Seriously, try it, it's a game changer!
@@ConstantChaos1 I always use dried chickpeas, so I usually soak them for at least 8 hours, then cook them for 8-10 min in the pressure cooker.
